  • Lightroom 4 - Slowdown when exporting files

    Hi.
I'v been experiencing some slowdown on my PC when exporting files from LR4. No matter the size, or if it's .jpg or .TIFF... it always gives me some frezzes (mouse etc)
I have a high end machine, and i don't think that's the problem....
Does anyone have a similar problem or a solution?

    Lastest ATI driver...

None either... CPU always at 0% before exporting.
But i think i found the problem, it's related to my HDD. I was reading some articles, and decided to use my HDD as AHCI instead of IDE.
I had to modify some regs to install the drivers, but after that the slowdown where almost inexistent...
Now i need to know where the problem is, if it's with HDD or motherboard..
    Thanks.

  • All of a sudden, files are brown in Lightroom, but not when exported or viewed in Bridge.

Look at the Histogram. The color layer on top is usually gray tones (not brown). The thumbnails are white dishes on white. As a yesterday, all the images displayed correctly. I opened LR4 today to this. I have not changed or updated my OS since.
I had to export some images for a client today. I already did touchups. When export them, they look perfect. I also viewed all the photos in Bridge - color is correct. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Corrupt Monitor Profile. If you calibrate, then recalibrate. If you don't calibrate (you should), change the monitor profile temporarily to sRGB, which will fix things until you get a proper calibration done.

  • I don't see new image versions when exporting, etc.

    Hi,
When I try to post pictures from FB to Aperture, I don't see any of my edited version, only the originals.  This also happens with other applications...including setting my desktop photo under system preferences.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

To see the edited versions of your images in the Media Browser and to be able to set the Desktop etc., you need to create Previews in Aperture. How are your Preview Preferences set?

  • Adding zeros to filenames when exporting in Lightroom "Filename-001" "Fliename-002" etc?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to add zeros before numbers when exporting files eg: "Filename-001" "Fliename-002" etc? The default setting is "Filename-1" "Filename-2" ect. The reason I want to have zeros in the number sequence is that certain software will display files in the wrong numerical sequence eg: "Filename-1" "Filename-10" Filename-11" etc and then "Filename-2" after "Filename-19". If zeros are added the files will always be displayed in the correct sequence "Filename-001" "Filename-002"... "Filename-009" "Filename-010" "Filename-011" etc.

Just customize the filename using the template editor, and use the Sequence token set to the number of leading zeroes you want, as shown.

  • In Lightroom 4, is it possible to change the resolution when exporting to Facebook?

Is it possible to change the resolution when exporting a photo to Facebook using either the regular plugin or Jeffrey Friedl's plugin?  I can't seem to do it; I only have control over the image dimensions, not the resolution and the dimensions, as you can see in the screen shots below:
I have control over both when I export to my hard drive (or a flash drive, etc.), as you can see below:
I can't find the option to control the resolution when I try to export to Facebook.  Before I got Lightroom 4, I would create whole new low-resolution files of images I wanted to post online using Photoshop.  The image size settings I would use are a longest edge of 10 inches at 72ppi, and I would like to continue doing this.  If I can only set the longest side to 720 pixels (I can't even seem to set the longest edge to an inches value - I can only choose a pixels value) and not change the resolution from 300ppi to 72ppi, then my photos' longest edge will only be less than 3 inches long (right?).  Thus, I really want to be able to upload low-resolution photos to Facebook via Lightroom with the ability to change both the resolution and the image dimensions.  Any idea how to do it without having to export to my hard drive first?  Thanks!

I'd be inclined to set it to zero so it obviously doesn't mean anything
You can set it to whatever you like, and it makes no difference. Most of the time (depending on how you saved it), it will still open as "72".
When you save an image for web, the resolution is usually stripped from the file. It's simply not there anymore. That's probably what happens in the Lr facebook module, and that's why there's no entry for it.
But when you open that image somewhere else, that default of 72 ppi is assigned. Most apps need to know what to do with a file if asked to print it out. So there is a default, and that's usually 72, mostly by convention. With that default ppi, it prints out at a comparable size to what you see on screen at 1:1 display.
And when people see that, they think "hey, web images are 72 ppi". But they're not - that figure is just inserted there by the opening application.

  • Lightroom 1.4.1 problem when exporting

I'm new to this forum and hope someone out there can help me. I use Windows XP Pro and Lightroom 1.4.1. Everything has been working fine until about a week ago. While trying to export jpg files from Lightroom, my computer slowed to a crawl. When I checked my system usage, Lightroom was using 100% of the CPU and nothing was getting done or it was taking hours to process just one file. I have never had this problem before and I'm not aware of any changes to my computer. I export all my files to another drive on my computer, but Lightroom was making copies on my C drive for some reason...? I reduced the size of the exported jpg file to 60% (the exported jpg was only 1mg) but the computer continued to crawl.
I cleaned everything up, defrag, etc. My system is Pentium 4 CPU 1.80 GHz, 2.25 GB or RAM. Restarted Lightroom and tried to export again--same result.
Any ideas of what is going on????

I'm not hopeful, but try optimising he catalog. You will find the command within Catalog Settings.
Thanks for the helpful suggestion. I deleted the preference file and tried again...same problem. Even writing this message is slowed down while Lightroom churns.
Is Lightroom churning all of the time or just when you try export the files? If the former it's possible that it's try to build the previews in the background. If the alter, then make sure that you have plenty of hard disk space available (i.e. 25% plus of total drive).

  • Using lightroom 5.7.1 not all the meta-information is copied when exporting pictures

using lightroom 5.7.1 not all the meta-information is copied when exporting pictures: city and country are not copied, although this information appears if i open the original file in photoshop. if i export this file via lightroom, the information dissappears.
does anyone know how to solve this problem?

    thank you!
although i did not change anything updating from lightroom3 to lightroom5, this box was automatically checked in all presets. now i unchecked it and everything works fine.

  • Problems with image names when exporting - images that have come back into lightroom from photoshop

Can anyone help ? When I need to take an image from lightroom into photoshop then back into lightroom and then I export that image, the original file number disappears and is replaced by dashes. Does anyone know how to solve this ?
    Thanks !

The appearance of dashes usually suggests some kind of pre-set e.g.
    Wedding-20150106-0001.jpg
The only suggestion I can make is that you check to ensure you are using the correct parameters in the templates manager.

  • When exporting out of lightroom the color of my picture channges significantly

I use windows 8 and tried exporting out of lightroom through firefox and this did not help either

Hi Shmuglak.  Thank you for the information.  I tried those things but did not work.    I just got windows 8 and just downloaded photoshop CC and Lightroom from the cloud.   My settings in Lightroom under preferences are :   Under jpeg preview it is checked on fast load data.   Under external editing the color space is prophoto.   Under additional external editor it is set to preset (Custom).  Under Default Develop Settings the only thing checked is apply auto mix when first converting to BW.   Under export module:   Location:   set to same as original folder and no check mark on add to catalog.   Under Post Processing I have tried do nothing and tried firefox.
It is funny that when I export a picture from lightroom using firefox that picture  pops for preview and the picture looks fine but then when I go to my email and try to email that same picture and use send with a file attachment the picture looks aweful on my desktop but when looking at it on the ipad or iphone the picture looks fine.
Any other suggestions would be great
    thank you

I don't know if this is your case but I have a similar problem (and has been helped out by some kind soul on this forum). The change of color may happen if you are re-importing the exported pictures into the Lightroom catalog. If this is what you are doing, some import presets may be applied and this may cause the color change. I'm talking about this setting, sheck if it is enabled. If it is, disable it and see if it helps.

Is there a bug or problem with increased noise when exporting pictures out of Lightroom 4?

As you are asking about it, looks like you do see a problem. So if googling does not provide a solution, you should describe the issue in detail so we can try to help out.

  • When exporting many videos with Lightroom 5, the process hangs randomly and needs to be restarted.

When exporting few videos, the process hangs randomly. The processor performance is 0 % and the lightroom says it is working (actually it is not). I have to quit lightroom, kill all processes like amecommand.exe, Adobe Media Core, Adobe Dynamic Link Manager and restart the process. It stops randomly.
I am exporting ALL-I videos from Canon 5D mark  III, into H264, high quality.
PS: The same situation was with Lightroom 4.

    Hello,
i have the same problem on LR5.5 on Win 7 (8G RAM)
    Thank you for any help.

  • Saturation Loss When Exporting from Lightroom.

This happens to me when exporting from Lightroom 2 or 3. It happens regardless of the color profile, file format, bit depth, image size, compression, or the method of export. I regularly profile my one-year-old iMac monitor with an Eye One Display 2. My working color space for Photoshop CS4 is ProPhoto. After exporting, I am viewing the images in Photoshop, Safari, Firefox and Apple Preview, with the same result. I have used pretty much all the available export methods in Lightroom, including exporting with Lighroom ad-ons such as SlideshowPro. And, conversely, if I edit an image to my liking ourside of Lightroom, there is a saturation increase when I import it into Lightroom.  The effect tends to be most obvious and bothersome with shots taken outside on sunny days, with lots of blues and greens.  I am shooting raw files with a Canon 5d II and I use the Adobe Standard profile in Lightroom.
There is a section at the back of Martin Evening's Lightroom book where he talks about the Lightroom color space and Lightroom versus Photoshop curves, which seems to relate to what I am seeing, but I have the feeling that what I seeing is more pronounced than what he is talking about there.  It is a real dullng of the look, not merely a slight difference in how the colors are rendered.

Looks like Lightroom doesn't like your display profile.
Try removing the profile (don't know how to do it on a Mac) to leave your display uncalibrated. Are the colors still different in Lightroom and Photoshop?

  • Hi there! So I am using Lightroom 3 on a pc and I have ran into an issue when exporting images. The DPI and image size (in inches) that I am selecting during the export process. For example I just exported a collection and set the dpi to 180 and the size

Hi there! So I am using Lightroom 3 on a pc and I have ran into an issue when exporting images. The DPI and image size (in inches) that I am selecting during the export process. For example I just exported a collection and set the dpi to 180 and the size to 7 inches on the long edge. My exported result is 457 dpi and sized at 3200x2134 pixels.. Any ideas on why this is happening and what I can do to correct it?

The DPI setting in a digital image has no meaning at all. You need to learn how to calculate what you need in your exported image. The only measurement in a digital image that has any meaning is the number of pixels in each direction. It doesn't matter what you set that DPI to (actually it's PPI or pixels per inch). The image will have the same number of pixels regardless of the setting. If you need an image that is 5 x 7" (for example) at 200 PPI then you would want an image that measured:
    5 x 200 = 1000 pixels
    7 x 200 = 1400 pixels
So you would need an image that is 1000 x 1400 pixels to have a 5 x 7" image at 200 PPI. The reason your exported image had such a high PPI setting is because you specified the number of inches you wanted the image to be. And there were enough pixels in the image that it calculated out to be that high PPI setting.
I apologize, I don't explain this very well. But you need to learn to do the math to determine how large you really want your exported images to be.
