Lightroom 5 crashes when selecting "Slideshow"
Like the title says, every time I click on "Slideshow", LR5 crashes - immediately (it does start to set up the screen for this module, but never completes). I tried LR4.4 and it works fine. I recently upgraded (about 3 weeks ago) to LR5 from 4.4, and I haven't had any significant problems otherwise.
Try removing the Preferences File/s. Look here for instructions: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-41.html
If that does not help next try removing the .lrdata file from your catalog folder and rebuilding previews.

I have done a routine OS X upgrade (mac) yesterday to version 10.9.5. Since then, Lightroom (4.4) has crashed more times than I can count. It is impossible to access the Slideshow Module as it crashes right away. Lightroom is completely useless at the moment as it also crashed in other modules after a few minutes. PLEASE HELP as I really need Lightroom for my photography business!!! Anyone else experimenting this? What can I do to rectify this?!

Lightroom crashes when rendering Develop preview under Vista 64-bit
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and Lightroom 1.1 crashes every time I click the "Develop" pane. My images are DNG files without the original RAW embedded.
Lightroom ONLY crashes when I load an image in Develop. If I open Develop without any image selected, it's fine (no image is displayed). I can zoom in to 100% in Library and it works fine. Exporting images to JPG works fine. Editing photos in the Library pane is fine. The crash data is:
Problem signature:

I've uninstalled LR 1.1 and reinstalled and it does the same thing. When I uninstall LR 1.1 and the install LR 1.0 (the previous version) Develop does open, but it doesn't render the images correctly - it looks like it misinterprets the white balance by about 1,500k degrees (very ugly), but Library shows the correct image/white-balance.
I've updated my nVidia 7900 graphics drivers to the latest version, appropriate to my OS and architecture. I've disabled XMP creation and Adobe Photo Downloader, as well as all other running applications (Antivirus, spyware, itunes, etc).
This USED to work fine in Vista and I did not make any significant changes, but I expect it's an issue with WindowsUpdate causing an incompatibility. I can't roll-back to my Vista state when it worked a month ago (that's another Vista frustration).
Anyway advice or comments would be GREATLY appreciated since this is an integral part of my professional workflow. I own a legitimate, licensed copy of both Lightroom and Vista, yet neither company is willing to talk to me unless I pay them money, which I think is complete extortion, but I digress.
Thanks in advance for your help.Has anyone got a resolution on this? I have the same issue. Lightroom crashes when I click develop and the develop module begins to render the image. Clicking develop with no image selected allows the develop module to load however selecting develop on the menu bar and choosing either previous photo or next photo causes lightroom to crash while rendering an image.
I have a 64 bit capable HP XW8400 workstation with 2 dual core Xeon processors, 4 GB RAM, and a nVidia FX 4400 graphics card. This video card was put in as a test. the original video card was an nVidia quadra NVS something. When I ran the NVS card I used the drivers certified for Adobe CS2. I am running 32 bit Windows XP SP2 with all current updates. I do not have any MS office components installed on this system.
I read of some troubles around the Realtek HD audio driver and some Adobe applications (not Lightroom). Since I have this sound device I disabled it and removed the drivers...still crashes.
I also disabled the Intel VT in the system bios (I believe this is required to run 64 bit XP or Vista)... no change. Also disabled the NX feature...no change.
I also loaded VMware workstation 6.0 and installed Lightroom in a 32bit Windows XP SP2 VM. In the VM Lightroom works perfectly on the same machine...just not as snappy...
This stinks...Lightroom works perfectly on my poky laptop. -
Photoshop CS6 crashes when selecting tools
Hi, I'm having the same problem as a few other members (Photoshop CS6 occasionally crashes when selecting tools) and have updated the driver on my HD5770 card to the latest version (8.961.0.0) as this is the recommended fix. Unfortunately this hasn't fixed the problem.
Here is the error report from the most recent crash.
This is very irritating as I inevitably lose some of my work when the application crashes.
What else do you suggest as a fix?
SteveI installed 12.3 and restarted my computer. This did not solve the problem.
I've reinstalled Photoshop twice as well with no developments.
Then, I found this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4289204
My card (Radeon X 1300 / X 1550) is not listed in the "Tested video cards for Photoshop CS6" section.
If I go to Edit->Preferences->Performance, and mouse-over the "Graphics Processor Settings" section, it says "Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry".
Is there any way around this? -

InDesign CC crashes when selecting text
Hello folks!
I have a serious issue here on my Windows 7 64bit notebook:
InDesign CC (and also CS6 before) keep crashing when selecting text.
I was still on CS6 when this failure appeared first. The strange thing is, it happens not always. When InDesign is opened new it will not crash instantly (most times). After some selecting random text a few times InDesign will crash with the well known "InDesign doesn't work anymore" message. There seems no pattern while selecting text (like special characters, certain fonts, whatever).
Tried to use CC – no luck! still crashing.
After some research in the forum I read, that this is very rare issue only occuring if there are more than 1 Windows accounts with both InDesign running. Indeed I made new account shortly before the first time this happened.
But sadly even after I completely wiped the second account, all my InDesigns (CS5, CS6, CC), all prefs, and also all fonts (as recommend in a thread with people havong trouble with just the type-tool itself) and all registry thingies the problem remains. Why?
Please help, it really kills the productivity.
Thanks in advance for everything!Well, wonky extension seems like a good idea, but can be withdrawed because I haven't installed one.
The font issue is also equally probable. As already mentioned: The interesting aspect here is, that both InDesign CS6 and CC will crash. It happened the first time when Windows decided to blue screen and f*** up my account (I wasn't able to log in anymore, I had to made a new one). I once read in another thread that there is a problem occuring when having multiple Windows accounts with InDesign running. Re-installing InDesign didn't help. Font problem after all?
I have installed at the moment:
MainType
NexusFont
Typograf
and some small others, like: dp4 Font Viewer or FontViewOk -
JVM crashes when selecting non-default printer in ReportViewer in NATIVE dialog.
On ReportViewer frame i have the print button active. If i click the print button (Native dialog) and select a printer other than default printer, the JVM crashes. Any idea how to fix it?
ThanksI wanted to provide little history of what I am trying to achieve. Currently, I have the following code:
PrinterJob printJob = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
if (printJob.printDialog()) {
String printerName = printJob.getPrintService().getName();
String printJobName = printJob.getJobName();
PrintReportOptions printOptions = redirectPrinter(printerName, printJobName);
sendReportOutputAndClose(reportClientDoc, printOptions);
I want to capture the number of copies user selects from the dialog. When I do printJob.getCopies(), it always returns 1. Not sure how to get that # of copies user selected. I also wanted to the dialog to be in Native mode because I don't want to give access to modify Margins and other page properties which are part of COMMON dialog mode. If I create the dialog printJobAttribute.setDialog(JobAttributes.DialogType.NATIVE); then VM crashes when selecting a non-default printer but I am able to get the number of copies. The key is I need to use NATIVE dialog and get the number of copies. One option is to display in COMMON dialog mode and then hide the "Page Setup" and "Appearance" tabs. Can this be done ? I am new to Java and Crystal so any suggestions would help. -

JVM crashes when selecting a CLOB in a OracleCallableStatement
Hi all:
We have a lot of places in our codebase where we "batch" a no. of
selects using the OracleCallableStatement for better performance (i.e.
save multiple roundtrips to the db). Recently we upgraded to Oracle
8.1.7 and converted the LONG column in one of our tables to CLOB. Once
we did that, every place in the system where we use a "batch" select
(using refcursor) the JVM crashes (no stack trace, just the infamous Dr.
Watson on NT and SIGBUS SEGV on Solaris)
We are running wl510 sp10 , driver is weblogic oci (oci817_8).
Here is a sample code
cstmt = (OracleCallableStatement)con.prepareCall(
"BEGIN \n"
+ " OPEN ? FOR SELECT A, B, C FROM TAB1 where ..;\n"
+ " OPEN ? FOR SELECT X, Y, Z FROM TAB2 where ..;\n"
+ " END;");
cstmt.registerOutParameter(1, Types.OTHER);
cstmt.registerOutParameter(2, Types.OTHER);
cstmt.execute();
rs = cstmt.getResultSet(1);
Is there an update or patch for the driver which resolves this issue?
thanks much,

PSE 12 Trial crashes - when running slideshow or outputing
Downloaded trial version of PSE 12 - runs slow and randomly crashes when playing slideshow in editor. Also crashes when outputing to any format at random points in the slideshow.
Just about to give up and switch over to iMovie as this has become increasingly frustrating.
Any suggestions as I have used version 7 in the past had a few issues, but nothing like what I am experiencing at this point in time?Under the tab TAGS / KEYWORDS, I have a keyword called IMPORTED KEYWORD TAGS. That's where I found my problems.
I think the bottom line is that the conversion / importing of previous catalogs is not working. In my case, it seems to be something to do with the tags. Who knows how many other issues there may be.
To me, there are enough postings on numerous site to indicate there is a significant problem. I've used PSE since version four. Most upgrades worked, Two did not. (I still load the PSE version 8 software to preserve the albums my wife created. An upgrade scrambled the files and my wife too it personally. Not worth the risk of messing up again.)
I am looking at MS Live Photo Gallery as an alternative. -
Lightroom 5.5 Crashes when selecting multiple photos in Library mode
Had this issue when I originally upgraded to Lightroom 5 last year.
Working through a large batch of photos, renaming and weeding, Lightroom is crashing every 10 minutes or so.
Is there a patch to fix this like there was with the original problem last year?
Running Windows 7 64 Bit.When monitoring GDI Objects in Task Manager I can see the value climbing by approx 70 with every photo selected.
The GDI Objects value keeps climbing until it reaches 10,000 then crash.
Selections do not need to be made all at once to reach this figure, it's cumulative, -
Lightroom 1.1 crashes when selecting all photos in folder - CTRL + A
Everytime I try to select all thumbnails in Library mode, using CTRL + A, lightroom crashes and the send msg to Microsoft comes up.
MichaelMJohn,
I don't have a count of actual imported images.
I do know I have about 27,000 images on the drive, but they were all in PSE 3, 4, and 5, and have not all been imported into LR, until I need to view or work with them.
The machine has 1GB of ram and my files are stored on a 300 GB partition of a 500 GB drive. My C: drive (for temp Win files has about 7 GB free. I am using XP Pro.
The problem has been very consistent in 1.1 and never occurred in 1.0, that if I select a group of images in thumbs or filmstrip, it crashes LR.
I will have to add up the folder counts. I can also get you the size of the database. I'm at work now so I will have to reply later in the week. I'm going to a new england photo conference/seminar in Mass. This Fri for 3 days (NECCC, http://www.neccc.org/) so I have to get all my work done.
Thanks,
MichaelM -
Lightroom crashes when I try to access one particular folder
Recently I've been renaming and reorganizing my image folders directly from Lightroom, instead of doing this in Mac finder or Bridge. Recently I renamed one particular folder that immediately caused lightroom to crash, and then keep crashing immediately after relaunching because it keep trying to load this folder in the library mode. Finally I decided to try and quickly select a different folder before it could crash, and this indeed worked. But it still crashes every time I try to view the contents of this folder. I tried deleting this folder from the catalog and then re-importing it, but after importing 10 or so images out of 500, it crashes agian. Could there be some corrupt file in this folder or what?
I managed to get my Lightroom to a point were it crashes when I browse through certain folder.
While testing possible solution for slow thumbnails problem I did the following:
I shutdown Lightroom, renamed my preview folder, restarted Lightroom, rendered standard previews to folder X, browsed through those images few times, shutdown Lightroom again, removed new preview folder and renamed the old one back.
Now, every time I browse through the folder X my Lightroom crashes at certain point. After brief testing there is no problems when I browse through other folders. Rendering standard previews to folder X did not help. I discarded all 1:1 preview from that folder I'm now rendering them again. Maybe that helps...
Edit: Discarding and rendering 1:1 previews for all images in problematic folder removed my crashing problems. -
LR4 Regularly Crashes When In Slideshow
Hi, I've used LR3 for a long time and recently upgraded to LR4.
I'm finding that it regularly crashes when I'm in Slideshow.
I have an iMac with 8GB ram and even with no other applications running, I have this problem.
The only 'cure', albeit temporary, seems to be to turn off and restart my computer.
Any ideas?Try removing the Preferences File/s. Look here for instructions: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-41.html
If that does not help next try removing the .lrdata file from your catalog folder and rebuilding previews. -
Lightroom crashes when png fils is used for water mark
When I use png files, lightroom 5.7 crashes (windows 7 64 bit). With the plug-in Mogrify it works, but not with lightroom itself.The dng fil can be imported into the lightroom catalog without problem. But it cannot be loaded for the identification table (lightroom crashes). I had this issue already in lightroom 4.
Thanks for any ideas to solve this.I opened and resaved the PNG with Photoshop and it didn't crash LR, so it seems your scanner is producing PNGs that aren't quite compatible with Lightroom.
Instead of me uploading files after editing in Photoshop, you can use an online editor like Pixlr to edit your own PNGs that won't crash Lightroom:
I used the following steps in Pixlr to convert ABC.png to a transparent background PNG that had black writing then another with white writing:
Open apps.pixlr.com/editor/ Online Photo Editor | Pixlr Editor | Autodesk Pixlr in a browser, I used IE 11
Click Open Image from Computer
Browse to and Open ABC.png
Double click the padlock symbol in the Layers panel to convert Background to Layer 0
Select the Magic Wand tool - over at the left
Turn off Anti-Alias and Contiguous checkboxes up top if necessary because you want all the background removed and clean edges on this B/W PNG
Click on a white area outside of the letters, notice that the insides of the A and B are also selected because Continuous is turned off
Hit the Delete (Del) key, notice that the background turns from white to a checkerboard pattern indicating transparency
Use File / Save... and save this black-letter copy with a new name (e.g. ABC_black.png) to your computer, somewhere, as filetype PNG - Transparent, Full-Quality
Use Adjustment / Invert to change the letters to white, notice that the transparency remains
Use File / Save... and save this white-letter copy with a new name (e.g. ABC_white.png).
That's it.
Obviously you can do more things in this editor, but for the simple task of making transparent background PNGs from a scanned PNG that's all you need to do.
