Lightroom 5 - Creating Custom Collections of Images | Getting Started with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 | Adobe TV

Discover how to simplify the creation of virtual groups of images using Collections, Smart Collections and Collection Sets in Lightroom.

Is there anyway that we can create a Template of a Collection Set Structure?
I have a particular Structure Set that I use for my Collection Sets, and the Collections within them for each time I do a shoot session.
Is there anyway that I can streamline the process of making these structures instead of doing it one collection at a time?
I can't seem to find it at the moment. A possibility for the Future?
Thanks

I love Julieanne Kost’s videos.  The one on the print module did not mention some gotcha’s.  I find this module very frustrating.  I have thousands of pictures of wild horses and decided to print a few pages with photos of the right and left side of the horse to make it easier to identify the many pintos.  I made a grid of 4 x 2 cells on each page and then tried to drag and drop the photos from the film strip.  The first cell filled as expected but when I tried a different photo in the next cell it replaced the first cell’s photo!  I could not figure out what was going on.  I didn’t know you had to move the photos in the film strip to put them in the order I wanted.  I had only used the print module to print single photos and had not used collections before.  After spending a lot of time trying to find out what I was doing wrong I found out you couldn’t drag and drop in the Single image/ contact sheet layout!  This took over an hour.  I tried a different style only to find that the picture package would only use one picture.  Well, the custom package did what I wanted it to do.  Great, so now I needed to print the captions with the names of the horses and spent another hour trying to get that to print only to discover you could only do that in the Single image/ Contact sheet!  In that layout you can only have cells the same size with no mixing of portrait and landscape orientation!  Not only that, I only had a picture of one side of a few horses and couldn’t skip a cell in that layout so had to go to Photoshop and create a blank photo to use as a place holder.   I had to fill the bottom of a page with blank photos to get a new page if it didn’t want pictures in all the cells of a particular page.  This all caused me hours of frustration and pounding my head on the desk.  I tried going to the book module but couldn’t create an 8 photos per page like in the contact sheet layout.
Maybe you could tell us why we aren’t allowed to print captions in all of the layout styles and why we can’t drag and drop in all the layout styles in any order we want.  Why the Custom Layout style isn’t the only one.  Why all the templates supplied are not using the Custom Layout package.  Why is this so hard?
    Thank you  -- Eric Hill

I don't have a card slot on my Macbook pro  it's about 4-5 years old. I have a Canon EOS 500. When i want to import i use a cable that plugs from the camera into a USB port downloading in either iPhoto o Photoshop. Can I do this also with lightroom or do I need to get a card adapter?

    Ms. Kost,
I am an event photographer and new to Lightroom.  I just got Lightroom 4 and am just starting to watch your videos.  This first one demonstrates your great step by step teaching method that's very informative and I'll be watching more.
As an event shooter, I usually shoot with two cameras, each with a different lens.  I would very much like Lightroom to be able to SORT the files from both cameras during the Import phase and order them by the TIME that the shots were taken, or Chronologically, rather than to sort each group of files from each camera individually.  Since I do my editing and presenting in chronological order, I would like them sorted as if I shot them all with one camera.  My current method is to import to Lightroom after first using Bridge to import to the main SSD drive on my Macbook Pro, although I can change this method if need be.
Is this possible? I didn't notice this option explained in this video if it exists.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Getting started with trial version of Adobe XI

I downloaded the trial version of Adobe XI.  Once installed I attempted to convert a PDF document into a Word document by clicking on the "tools" as instructed in the tutorial.  I then chose convert to "Microsoft Work" and clicked on "convert".  A box then popped up asking me to purchase a year long subscription to be unlimited downloads.  I don't want to make that purchase and the pop up box asking that I purchase the subscription will not go away nor and when I click on "convert" again, it does nothing.

What do you mean by "Adobe XI"?
You seem to be mixing up two entirely different ways to go from PDF to Word, because you have elements of both of them in your question.

    Hi Christoph and WarriorAnt,
Thank you both for the replies.
I don't know anything about GarageBand because I've never used it. I've never used any music software before, (other than iTunes, Ha!)
I don't have GarageBand on my Mac because it wasn't stock on the old Powerbook G4, so I would have to buy it. I'm happy to do that if I can figure out that it does what I want ... but I'm overwhelmed by the info at Apple's site. Too much for a beginner like me. Even the wikipedia.com entry for GB uses too many terms I don't know, so I'm easily lost.
I just want to be able to set up drum loops and play along with them. The main thing is that I'm able to use third party loops. There are so many really amazing loop products out there ... jungle drums, acoustic jazz drums, lounge, etc. I don't want to get caught up in anything proprietary (like Band-In-A-Box) because the selection is limited. I'm sure GarageBands loops are great, but I want access to all these other third party loops as well ... loops that were not specifically made for GarageBand.
Will GarageBand let me drop in any and all drum loops from these other companies?
And does GarageBand work like a basic sequencer, where I can program up an intro, X number of measures of a loop, then a turnaround, then a variation loop, then an ending, etc?
I know the high-end stuff like Native Instruments Kontakt does this, but unfortunately it also does a kazillion other professional-level things I will never need and don't want to pay for (and which make the software more complex and daunting).
Thank you again, both of you, for responding and helping me with this project.
Just a little more advice on those two questions would really go a long way.
    -JOHN

  • While creating customer master  i am getting the Communication error

    Hi experts,
while creating customer master  i am getting the  Communication error with the external tax system (VERTEX_MS0018)    please tellme how to solve this issue
    Regards,
    Anil prasad
Edited by: prasadanil on Sep 16, 2011 12:52 PM

    hI Prasad,
It seems you are maintaining the address data for a country with jurisdiction code. Different external control systems can behave in different ways.
    1. You entered a jurisdiction code that matches the postal code but not the city (possibly due to a typo).
    a) Behavior when you use Taxware: There is no message and data can be saved.
    b) Behavior when you use Vertex: Due to the incorrect city, no comparison jurisdiction code can be determined and message TAX_TXJCD861 is issued with a text from the vertex system that may be unintelligible.
    2. You do not enter a jurisdiction code, but you do enter a postal code and a city that does not match the code (possibly due to a typo).
    a) For Taxware: If the jurisdiction code could not be explicitly determined, a selection dialog box containing the relevant tax jurisdiction codes for the postal code appears. You select one. This and the corresponding city are transferred.
    b) For Vertex: The TAX_TXJCD861 message is issued (behavior as in 1b). Other terms TAX_TXJCD861, TAX_TXJCD101, TAX_TXJCD107.
For resolving this issue, you can check SAP Note 677850 - Address data: Check/new determination jurisdiction code.
Hope you will resolve the above issue with these inputs.
Let me know if you need any further details.
    Ravi.

  • Can not get example to work after following instructions given in "Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW C Generator" guide

We explored using sbRIO for our project, for different reasons we ended up going with a different embedded solution . We are currently evaluating the LabVIEW C Generator to convert some of the core analysis routines from LabVIEW to C so the team that will be creating the embedded solution don't have to re-implement them from scratch.
Before converting our code, I followed the instructions given in the "Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW C Generator" manual to create a static library created inCygwin using GNU Compiler Collection (GCC).
I managed to compile the code, but when I type "run GCD.exe" in the Cygwin console, I just see the window flash with no time to see if the result is correct or not. I modified the main.c cde to add a getchar(), but the window still just flashes and now I am left with the GCD process still running and have to kill it using Windows Task Manager.
Has anyone else got this example to run? I am sure I am missing an obvious setting or step, please help me.
    More details below.
    Thanks,
    Fab
Here is a video showing the steps I followed
If you don't want/can't see the video. Here are some screenshots of what I have done so far:
GratestCommonDivisor.lvproj C Generation build specs Information:
    C Function prototype definition:
    I copied Makefile located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\examples\CGenerator\Tutorial\Cygwin
and replaced both Makefile and Makefile.cygwin in the directory where the C code was generated
I also copied main.c from the same location and replaced the one generated
Here is the snapshot of the results after executing "make GCD.exe"
Then to run it I just type
I see a window open and close really quickly and I never see the result. I have tried adding the getchar() line to the main.c file, but still I don't get to see the results.

    Hi Kevin,
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I am attaching a zip file with the LabVIEW project, my build specification and my version of "Greatest Common Divisor.vi", which should be the same as the one that you have that ships with the LabVIEW C Generator, but just in case. I am also attaching a zip file with the C files generated by the LabVIEW C Generator.
You can also see the video I posted earlier with the steps I followed. I hope you are able to point out where I went wrong.
    Thanks,

Please fallow the below steps to create the custom infotype. If you have any quires let me know.
For Creation of Infotype first Go to Transaction PM01, Enter the custom Infotype number which you want to create, it should be a 4 digit number and have to start with 9xxx.
then select the `Employee Infotype' radio button
after that select the `PS Structure Infotype'
then click on Create… A separate table maintenance window appears
then Create a PS structure with all the fields you want on the infotype
Save and Activate the PS structure
now Go back to the initial screen of PM01
Click on `All' push button. It takes a few moments
Click on `Technical Characteristics’. Infotype list screen appears
    Click on `Change'(pencil) button
Now select your Infotype and click on `Detail' (magnifying glass) button
