Lightroom 5 disappears with CC Install

It would appear that my licensed copy of Lightroom 5, which I downloaded online, has disappeared with the install of CC.  In my dock I have a question mark on the Lightroom icon.  And installing from CC asks for a license number.  Is there a way to retrieve my license?

CC products are licensed when you are logged into CC and not when you’re not so if you are installing the CC version of LR then you need to be logged into CC when you are doing it.  I am talking about being logged into the CC Desktop app running locally on your computer, not just logged into the creative.adobe.com site when you download it.
If you mean that you already had LR 5 on your computer prior to installing CC, then keep in mind that the LR 5-CC is different than the LR 5 non-CC but only in that they are licensed differently, so the program, itself, must be uninstalled and a new version installed when you switch from non-CC LR to CC-LR.
When I got the PS+LR CC bundle a few months back, my LR 5-CC wouldn’t even show up in the CC listing prior to my uninstalling the non-CC LR and then explicitly logging out and back into the CC-Desktop app to get it to rescan what local software I had and compare it to what I was licensed to use through CC.
After I uninstalled the LR 5 on-CC, and logged out and into CC-Desktop, LR CC showed up in my CC Desktop as a valid app to install, and when I did that, the serial number as filled in automatically, because I was logged into CC at the time I did the install.
It’s not clear to me what LR your shortcut was to and where you’re installing the new one from.  I am on Windows, so the Mac versions may work a little different, and Adobe may have changed how CC works a little so it may allow the LR-CC version to install over the top of the LR non-CC version without uninstalling the non-CC version.
A question:  are you seeing LR-CC show up in your list of available or installed apps in the CC-Desktop app running locally on your computer or not?

  • Export options disappear with clean install to XP SP3

I have a VB6 application using CR 8.5.  There are several reports in the app in which the export icon is used to export the report to an Excel format.
The application has been in use for nearly 5 years and has been running with no issues on Windows 2000 desktops against a Windows 2003 server.
Recently, the company purchased new computers and are now running Windows XP SP3.  The application works fine and all of the reports run fine.  EXCEPT when the export icon is clicked now, the only option seen is "Rich Text Format".
The program has been installed on the new systems in the exact manner it was installed on the old systems.  I have the crxr_rtf.dll, crxf_xls.dll, u2dapp.dll and u2fxls.dll files in the app directory just as I had on the old systems.  I am wondering if something is different with the newer OS - particularly around the MDAC.  I seem to remember something about that when I was initially getting this going on Win2K.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Chris

Clint, I don't want to make any assumptions so forgive me if these questions seem trivial.  First, I see the SP3 file.  Does that supercede all of the monthly HFs and SP2 that are also present in the list?  OR, do I also have to apply those others and then apply SP3 after?
Lastly, I don't see anything that pertains particularly to runtime or any specific dll updates, although there is one for Adobe PDF.  So I am assuming I would strictly update my dev system, recompile and supply the customer the recompiled code without making further changes on their systems.
    Sound about right?

Yesterday I installed cc and when I open LR5 I need a serial number.
What do I do/how do I get one?
    Please help, Thank you.

Your photos remain in place, the catalog you have been using will remain. After you install Lightroom from the CC, all you have to do is open your existing catalog and continue right where you left off.

I am trying to install a registered copy of Photoshop Lightroom that I never installed on my Apple iMac with software version 10.10.
I get the message “Adobe Lightroom 1.  Cannot be installed on this disk because a newer version of this software already exists on this disk”
If it is here – I cannot find it anywhere, and I don’t believe that I ever installed it.
I have ordered the upgrade to Lightroom 5.0 and figured that I should install Lightroom 1.0 first.
How can I solve this problem

Actually when LR 5 starts for the first time after it is installed it will have a dialog to Buy, Try or Enter a serial number. You select Enter a serial number and enter the LR 5 serial number first and then because it is an upgrade serial number it will ask for the serial number of a Previous version. You then enter the LR 1 serial number.

The LR4 installer doesn't care for your LR3. It will leave everything in place. You will only be asked whether you want to import the catalogs at some point.

  • Lightroom keeps disappearing from my installed apps

I've been using Creative Cloud for a few weeks now, I have the Photography package. Three times now in the last few days, Lightroom has dropped out of my "Installed Apps". The programme works fine even though it is not shown and below the "Installed Apps" under "Find New Apps" Lightroom is there showing "Install".
Anyone any advice please or can offer a possible explanation? I'm in the UK if that makes any difference.

    Hi,
The steps are totally unnecessary. Whenever Lightroom team releases a new version, Creative cloud app will not recognize the older version as is not available for download and install for any user anymore. If Lightroom moves from your apps or installed apps section to apps available for install it simply means a new version of Lightroom is available. Once you download and install this version it will automatically update older version to newer version.

    Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Lightroom 5 with CS5 Suite

I use the CS5 Design Standard Edition.
Now I thought about using Lightroom additionally, and acquire it.
I have read that Lightroom works with Camera Raw in Version 8.
Camera Raw in version 8 can not be applied to CS 5. But I do not want to update my CS5.
What can I do now? Should I use a prior version of Lightroom? Proposals for solutions would be reuqested and very much appreciated.

    Hi Christian,
You can have Lightroom 5 installed alongside CS5, but opening RAW files in Photoshop from LR will be problematic.
You can get around this by choosing "Render using Lightroom" when you open it in Photoshop:

Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 are standalone products. Each comes with its own Elements Organizer 11. When both are on the same computer they share the same Elements Organizer 11 catalog. Consequently, Premiere Elements 11 will continue to have its Elements Organizer 11 even if you uninstall Photoshop Elements 11.
Lightroom is also a standalone product. Any questions about Photoshop Elements and Lightroom integration should be directed to the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Forum Photoshop Lightroom   and Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum Photoshop Elements
Please let us know if I have targeted your question about all this relating to Premiere Elements.
    Thank you.

  • FAQ: Will Lightroom work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

    What is a raw file?
A raw file is the unprocessed data that was captured by your camera sensor when you took your picture. The only settings on your camera that apply to this file are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This means that any effects you may have applied to the file, such as white balance or black and white, may not appear in Lightroom. Your camera will create a JPEG copy of your raw file with all current settings applied and save that within the raw file for use as a thumbnail by most applications. When you first view a raw file in Lightroom, you will see this thumbnail, then Lightroom will read the raw data and create its own thumbnail, which may have a different appearance.
How does Lightroom work with raw camera files?
Lightroom interprets the raw data and makes image information out of it. But every camera has a unique sensor and thus has a unique form of raw file. Even though camera manufactures may use the same file extension each time (e.g. Nikon raw files are always .NEF), each camera model has a different way of storing information. Because of this, we must continually update Lightroom for new cameras. As we add new cameras to the list (over 300 now) we update our published list of supported cameras.
Will the raw files from my camera work with Lightroom?
To determine whether your camera is supported by Lightroom, check this list:
    Supported cameras
Go to Help > Updates to install the latest release. You can also manually download and install Lightroom updates:
    Macintosh
    Windows
What if I own a previous version of Lightroom?
Supposing you have a camera that came out after the release of a newer version of Lightroom, so that your version of Elements is no longer recieving updates, you have two basic options:
Purchase the latest version of Lightroom that supports your camera.
Use the latest version of the free DNG Converter (for Macintosh or Windows)
You can convert your files to the universaly compatible DNG format (the files will work with any version of the Lightroom). See In depth : Digital Negative (DNG) for more information.

Will Lightroom help me automatically compensate for the image distortion caused by my camera lens?
The Develop module of Lightroom includes Lens Correction which can read what lens was used from the metadata. With this information it can pick a profile that will reduce distortion caused by the curvature of the lens. For a list of which lenses are supported by which camera bodies, see this list:
    Lens profile support | Lightroom 4, 3
If your lens is not currently supported, you have a few options:
    Apply the lens correction manually
Use the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader (Download: Mac, Win) to see if someone else has created a profile your camera and lens
Use the Adobe Lens Profile Creator (Download: Mac, Win) to make your own profile for your camera and lens.

  • Lightroom CC will not install!

I am using the Creative Cloud Packager to build individual Adobe packages for installation through SCCM on Dell PC's. I have successfully built and deployed quite a few packages including Photoshop, InDesign, Fireworks, and Bridge, but for some reason the Lightroom package will not install.
We have an enterprise license and I am using the same procedure I used for all of the other packages. The Lightroom installation media downloads and the package is successfully built but running the .exe or the .msi is not successful. When the installer is executed, it brings up the normal dialogue boxes and appears to be working. However, after a few minutes the box goes away with no error message and nothing is installed.
The most frustrating part is the lack of log files, I found the page pointing to the Common Files folder but there is no Adobe folder in there. I have tried installing and running the CC Packager on two different machines with the same result. I also tried installing Photoshop CC first to see if maybe it was a prerequisite for Lightroom but the result was the same. Any advice?

    Hi Stephen,
Adobe Lightroom goes to exception folder once a package is created. You would need to install Adobe lightroom under exception folder using ExceptionDeployer.exe (WIN).
For more info, please visit : https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/using-exceptions-deployer.html
