Lightroom 5 install - help!

I just paid up to updgrade to LR 5 I download the file and I just get an error when it starts to extract,
"A problem occured while extracting some files check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder."
There is plenty of space and i am logged in as an administrator.
I tried re downloading the file about 3 - 4 times now, and i get the same error each time,
I also tried disabliing windows firewall and security essentials, it made not difference.
I'm on a desktop PC with windows 7 64 bit.

I am getting the same error message with a trial download of Lightroom 5. I've tried to download and extract several times on 4 different computers. Two computers with Windows 7 Professional, one with Windows 7 Enterprise, and one with Windows 8. Download seems to work just fine. I can not extract the files.
I have tried moving the files to the root directory for extraction, creating a new admin account, rebooting my computer, extracting with 7-zip rather than the Adobe extractor, and selecting "run as admin" for extraction. I've also tried downloading from different adobe accounts. No luck. I called support - spent about 1.5 hours on the phone. They had me try the same things I'd found online. Still nothing.
I am getting the same error message on all four computers. "A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your compuer and the write priveleges on the destination folder."
7-zip gives me two new errors:
"Data error in 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5\setup32.exe'. File is broken."
and
"Data error in 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5\setup64.exe'. File is broken."
I am now getting the same error with a previously purchased version of Lightroom 4. Download works fine. I get the same error when I try to extract.
Any help at all would be enormously appreciated. I'm working on a deadline. (Aren't we all?)

  • Lightroom installing on C: drive, despite CC preferences install location on E:

    Having a problem with Lightroom installing to C drive despite E drive being the preference setting under Apps in Creative Cloud. Have uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled numerous times to no avail. Photoshop installed with no issues to E drive after uninstalling off of C drive, changing preferences in CC to E and reinstalling Photoshop. No problems. Assumed Lightroom would install the same way, but no such luck. Help!!

    Thanks for the help Mylenium. You have saved me hours of frustration and wasted time. Just discovered a host of other members who were complaining bitterly in 2013 and 2014. Hopefully Adobe heeds their customers concerns and fixes it in 2015, or at the very least has a pop up window that states what the FAQ states "Lightroom must be installed to your local drive and can't be installed to custom location like other Creative Cloud apps. Lightroom always installs to the default location and disregards any preference you select for a custom location. This behavior is as designed." That would have saved me so much time and aggravation, and no doubt other frustrated members to come.

  • Lightroom 6 Help is inaccessible

    I installed Lightroom 6 upgrade to Lightroom 5 on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit system. When I am in Lightroom, open the Help menu and click on Lightroom Help, Internet Explorer 11 opens up and I get the message shown in the screen shot that the site is unavailable even though I am on the internet and everything else on the internet works.     Yes, that error appears if you click on the link on the left hand side under Help PDFs
    but if you right click and "save target as", you can download the PDF
    No errors

  • I have two versions of Lightroom installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

    While looking at the "Programs and Features" folder on my Windows 7 computer I discovered that I have two versions of Adobe Lightroom installed on my system. One is Lightroom 5.2, installed on 9/19/2013, and the other is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5 64-bit, installed on 7/5/2014
      - Can I uninstall the older version?
      - Will uninstalling the older version cause any problems with the newer version?
      - If yes to either question, is there anything I need to do before doing the uninstall (i.e. deactivating, etc.)
    Any advice on how to correct this problem is gratefully appreciated.
    PS; I have the same issue with Muse CC. See: I have two versions of Muse CC installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

    I thought it was odd that I had two versions of Lightroom installed as well. I have been able to track the issue back to an apparent "bug" in the Lightroom 5.2 update that installed a second version of Lightroom in addition to updating the existing version on my computers. At the time, I posted about it at Lightroom 5 installed twice on my laptop. While I never got an answer to my question, which was "Is this normal?" I did hear from others in the forum the experienced the same problem and had the same question. As time passed, later releases updated one of the two installations, but did not effect the second. Hence, two different versions of Lightroom 5 installed on the same computer.

    Yes. Find the LR catalog file by looking in Edit/Catalog Settings/General. Close LR and navigate to that spot. The catalog file is the one that ends in .lrcat - move it to wherever you want. Next to the .lrcat file is a subfolder called Previews.lrdata. You can move that over as well, but if you don't LR will generate new previews. Double-click on the .lrcat file in its new home and LR will open with that catalog. Set Preferences to When Starting Up Use Most Recent Catalog.

    No, Lightroom catalogs cannot be on a networked (shared) drive, and they do not support simultaneous multi-user access

    It works for me. Are you sure you are hovering in the right spot? It's the dividing line between the filmstrip and the Toolbar.

    A box keeps appearing saying Application wants to install Helper and asking for my password to access the hard drive.  It just doesn't feel right to me and I wonder if it is genuine.  Would be grateful for any advice.

    Like an idiot, I actually entered my password, Safari crashed, and now it won't open. Sad thing is, I knew it wasn't genuine but was in the middle of a deadline and just was trying to make the window go away. Now every time I relaunch Safari is closes unexpectedly and won't reopen.     Gordonr18571658 I am sorry I don't have any additional suggestions for how to install Photoshop Elements 1.0 besides installing in compatibility mode for Windows XP.
    As an alternative you can find details regarding Photoshop Elements 13 at Picture editor, edit pictures | Adobe Photoshop Elements 13.  Photoshop Elements 13 has been designed to install and function under Windows 8.1.  There is a 30 day trial if you wish to evaluate the software and complete any current photo editing projects you may be facing.

    I have just purchased CS5.5 but installation will not work (I've tried 5 times!). I have disabled my anti-virus, and my firewall and there are no previous versions on my PC!     Unfortunately it is very hard to get in touvh with Adobe! The phone number for Australia is disconnected (if you have an Australian phone number for support I would be very grateful!!!)...and even the Education support number I tried the other day won't answer - have been on hold for 2 x 20minutes with no one answering! And the "chat" option...I've sat and waited for an operator to be available for ages...no operators available!
    I have disabled my anti-virus, and firewall, checked that I have all the appropriate plug-ins ie. Java, Quicktime etc and my computer is brand new, Windows 7 with no previous version of Creative Suite! I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!!!
