Lightroom 5 Install....Need Help

I have a iMac Quad core i7 running 10.6.8 OS. Can I install Lightroom 5 on it and will it run properly as the specs say 10.7 or higher. Thanks....Phil

Adobe no longer provides camera raw updates for Mac OS 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) or Windows XP & Vista.
Is there any good reason for not updating your operating system?
I've been running LR5 without problem on Mavericks (10.9) and Mountain Lion before that. The Mavericks update is free from Apple.

Well, I installed everything, as far as I know. I'm not sure
what all was
-supposed- to be installed. But, I've noticed that Bridge has
been unable to
update itself.

Laptop Crashed During Maverick Install -- Need Help

Hello Everyone,
Before we get started, I just want to open with this info: My Macbook Pro is from 2008, and has a notorious habit of crashing... I hear what sounds like a rhythmic "ticking" sound from within the laptop, and everything on screen freezes up, and I have to do a hard-reboot. Other than that and a few graphical glitches with games, it runs seamlessly and had a good 19 GB free while attempting the update. Also to note, I have a BootCamp partition of about 30 GB for Windows XP. Additionally, I was an IDIOT and did NOT set up Time Machine or make a backup for my files, because, I repeat, I'm an IDIOT apparently.
So I had 10.6.8 installed -- Snow Leopard... and I heard there was a new free update to 10.8.0: Maverick. Of course it peaked my interest and I tried to install, not realizing it could potentially brick my laptop! Shoulda done some research
Anyway, here's what happened:
The download was successful, so I rebooted my computer and initialized the installation. Everything was fine, it said it would take about 50 minutes (even though it took a LOT longer)... and the install got not even half way before my computer crashed, with the infamous ticking sound. I was like, "oh sh**" because everyone knows that a crash during a major install is not good news. After I restarted the computer, it opened up the Maverick install again immediately, and attempted to retry... but within 10 minutes, an error pops up: "Install failed: OS X can’t be installed on the disk, because a recovery system can’t be created. Visit www.apple.com/support/no-recovery to learn more."
Of course at this point, I'm confused. I have no idea what that means. So I try to reboot to see if it would help, and the same error occured twice more.
This time, when I rebooted, I held Alt-Option to see if I could just select my HD drive and bypass the install. Nope. The only options were this: "Windows Partition, Maverick OSX Install, recovery-(something something)"... my HD drive wasn't even listed! This made me nervous. So, I selected the recovery disk option and it opened a menu with a few options, including reinstalling OSX, disk utility... etc. So I selected disk utility. I then proceeded to select my HD drive, and click "repair" in the first aid tab. It took about 10-15 minutes, but it successfully finished, giving me a green "Disk seems ok" message. This was a bit of relief. But now that the disk is repaired, how do I access it and exit the endless loop of Maverick installation? Do I need to reinstall OSX with my original disk/Snow Leopard disk?
Please help me recover my HD drive... I desperately need my laptop for school.

if you have no install disk, best to do fsck. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214 hopefully that will do something for you. when you say it "freezes" at startup it is hard to know what to tell you. there are different types of screens that occur with startup issues. this is an incredible article for startup issues--http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464. do not worry that it says "10.3.9 or earlier". these steps are reliable for tiger as well. i hope that works for you.[:)]

Imac G5 not reconizing Leopard install, Need help diagnosing.

Hello, my names Jarid and my problem is the following;

I am currently on my macbook pro 10.6.5 snow leopard OS.
Background
I got an Imac for Christmas from my fathers Friend, the friend recently moved to china and left it behind.
this G5 (2 gigs of ram, 1.8 ghz processor) had tiger installed on it but while i have switched to mac about 6 months ago, I have a strong background in windows and learning as i go on mac. I wanted to install leopard on this G5 because my Macbook was leopard when i received it so i wanted to upgrade for familiarity.
One strange thing right before i tried to install was i tried to install new applications and they would just open up really quick on the dock then disappear and not work. Firefox worked, as well as itunes ect but they were already installed..(I think i may have DL the wrong OS support?? i do not know)
While installing a new program it actually started to run; i tried to DL a tiger version of an app to see if i might have been using the wrong instal(this is where i thought i was installing the wrong OS app maybe?).
The comp sort of froze, so i restarted holding down the power and got the purple folder with the blinking '?'. I figured i could just install leopard and fix what appeared to be "corrupt system/32 boot"(windows) I Bought Leopard @ best buy 10.5 and put the disk in and pressed "c".
Problem
It started fine until i had to pick a disc to choose from, there was no drive. I opened disk utility and I THINK it had 1 partition listed and the disk drive. I then proceeded to "erase" the drive considering it was already missing files anyways. I remember something though like I created "journalism" or something and the drive now showed in the "where do you want to install". I chose the only drive (hard drive 250g). I watched it for 40 minutes and then went and UG my leopard to snow leopard. When I finished, I figured my G5 would be done however the screen did not light when I used the mouse or keyboard. I shut it off by holding the power button. now I still get the purple folder with the '?' mark. When i use the disc to boot I cant see the drive again but this time all that is in the disk utility is a pic of a cd (guessing my boot disc) even though i saw the HD there 2 hours ago...
*_Things I Have Tried_*
1. I tried using terminal in the start up with the disc to find the drive, but it listed disc 0 1 2 3 with like 500 mb, I think 2 "X" amount of kb, lastly like one 7 GB and that was it no big HD listed?
2. I tried Holding "option" and try finding the drive but nothing showed up, I took the installation disc out at this point.

I know Windows Xp extremely well but not mac too much and **everything I've done was done from what I've been reading offline**. Any help would be greatly appreciated. +I am still new to mac+ so if it is not windows-type ideology please explain A little more in depth for me please, thank you.

You might try resetting the SMU:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
4. Release the power button.
5. Attach the computers power cable.
6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Or reseting the PRAM.
You can check the drive using Apple Hardware Test, which should be on one of your install discs, hold down the D when booting to it.
Did you wipe the drive when you were running from the install disc?
If the install disc works, try using Disk Utility to repair your drive, but it sounds as if the hard drive has failed.
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.

FCP 7 won't open or re-install, need help!

I have the latest version of FCPX installed as well as FCP7 on my system and I need to open FCP7 so that I can export an XML file in order to utilize 7 to X. The trouble is that when I attempt to open 7 it crashes and when I attempt to re-install 7 from the Final Cut Studio disc the Final Cut Pro line says "skip" and I am unable to check the box to get it to install!
Anyone have any suggestions?

not sure if it will solve your problem. but if you try it, be
extremely careful because it requires editing your registry which
is kind of risky. if you're not comfortable trying it, or it
doesn't work, you might just have to contact Adobe directly for
help. unfortunately, i'm not sure how much more help you'll be able
to get here, since this forum is mainly for help with Dreamweaver
once it's already installed. of course, it's possible that someone
else has run into this problem and knows exactly how to fix it.

I cannot get Camera Raw 8.4 to install - need help

Like many people, I'm not getting the Camera Raw 8.4 update in Photoshop CC.
I tried to manually install by using the link provided and when I unzip the setup.zip file and run it, it says the patch is not applicable.
I tried completely uninstalling Bridge and Photoshop CC including "settings" and I just re-installed Photoshop CC from Creative Cloud Desktop and I still have Camera Raw 8.3.
Is there any other dependency on Camera Raw that I should uninstall?
How can I completely remove Camera Raw?
Why doesn't it get updated if I re-install Photoshop CC?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

After a lot of issues (seed db, tns errors, no autostart db, ...) and solved by posts found here,
The new database is mounted and working in console mode and Ole DB/Odbc.
In the custom script, here are the two Data Dictionnaries packages I've used :

@%ORACLE_HOME%\rdbms\admin\catalog.sql ;
@%ORACLE_HOME%\rdbms\admin\catproc.sql ;
I'm looking for the package name to install for using Apex (http://locahost:8080/apex) like initial instance XE.

But the instructions for installing Apex are in the Apex home page. Go to http://otn.oracle.com and drill to the Apex home page by going to Products:Development Tools (left edge) and finding Application Express on that resulting page.
If you are going to potentially violate your agreement or leave the system in an unreliable state, why not simply use the Enterprise Edition?

Itunes 9.0 not installing need help!!?

hello ive been trying to install the new itunes 9.0 for the past 2 days upgrading from 8.2 and it installs to computing space requirements then i get a message 'could not access network location %APPDATA%.I even uninstalled the current itunes and trying again no use. Im using windows vista 64 bit.Please someone tell me how to solve this problem!!!!

well by my experience the problem lies in your registry keys, its the same with me the best way to solve the problem is to either format ur computer after a back up or doin a registry scanner and recovery eg regcure.Or if u find the registry key thats missing and adding it ur self which is kind of risky.....can u install any other program concluding itunes, coz my problem is i cant install any program i try to install

Mac Mini froze during application install, need help

I was installing an application on my son's single core Mini and it froze. I can start it, but it soon freezes. In the old days, disabling extentions or starting off a CD could get the old G4 (and OS9) back in business. Seems my son can't find the box the mini came in or the disks that came with it (thinks he through them out).
What should I do?
G4 400 Mac OS X (10.3.9) SE, 605, 6100, 8100, 6500, 7100, 9500 (the last two are in operation today)

Problem when installing, Need help.

Ok well I just downloaded the trial of Adobe After Effect CS4 and click on the .EXE and picked a spot for it to extract to which was my C drive My Documents and I made a folder called Adobe and put it there now all seemed to be working no errors until the end when I see this message pop up
"A problem occured while extracting some files. check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder" now I hve more then enough space on my hard drive and im not sure what else could be the problem. If someone could kindly show some light on this it would be appreciated

Don't extract it to My Documents. Since that is a system folder constantly under surveillance by Windows' search and indexing service, an installer package may breach the limit of number of allowed files in the folder or its size quota. Let the extractor do its thing in a dedicated directory on another partition or in a directrory directly on your C: drive at the root level. This should avoid these complications.

Like Rob I'm a Windows user, and - like him - I thought "uninstalling" on Macs was simply a case of trashing the application. Google would seem to concur.

NEED HELP! -installing Camera raw presets from USB Stick.
I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.
It says to put them into User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings...
When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folders in there are CameraProfiles & Lens Profiles.
I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.
I have latest version of CameraRaw installed and still no settings folder.
I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.
I am using CS5 specifically Photoshop v12.0.4 and Bridge. I have Lightroom 4. I have iMac OS 10.7.3
Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that?
Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?
