Lightroom 5 install with Mac

Is Lyon operating system for Mac the latest system to use Lightroom 5? I could not open with snow leppard? do I have to leave older versions of Lightroom and Photoshop in my HD or can I trash them after the new versions are installed. Does the new Maverics software work also with the
new software?

You are correct, you need Lion or higher. Lightroom 5 is not supported on Snow Leopard and older. Lightroom 5.2 and later is needed for Mavericks.

Hi all i was prompted to install the new flash update,
i tried to install at first i was getting an error with safari being open, when it was closed, i had forced quit the browser
and also checked Activity Manager to make sure it was shut.
after reading the adobe help information i uninstalled flash and restarted the computer, i started the process again
the safari problem did not come up apon the new install, But i had a new problem i get a general error at around 75-85%,
of the install.e
so now i have no flash player, i read the forums there is another thread that links, install_flash_player_osx-.dmg
some people saying that this works for OS 10.9.4, so i tried this option but now the file does not pass the download stage of the install at around 20%.
and the same old General error comes up again leaving me stuck, i am a stay at home dad that builds websites and i need Flash Player.
any help would be greatly welcomed.

You're issue appears to be different from Kiwisox. On Mac, simply closing an application window does not quit the application. You need to actually terminate Safari for Flash Player installation to proceed.
There are a few different ways to Quit Safari:
Quit Safari app from the Dock icon:
Mouse over the Safari icon in the Dock
Press CTRL and left-mouse click at the same time
A menu will display. Click Quit to terminate the application.
Use Activity Monitor to terminate Safari:
Launch Activity Monitor from Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor
Ensure 'All Processes' are being listed (menu in the upper right)
Find and select Safari
Click the Quit Process button (upper left)

Lightroom 3 compatible with Mac OS X 10.8?

Hi, I changed from Windows to Mac OS X 10.8. Will Lightroom 3 work on it? On the packaging is written, that it's only compatible with 10.5 or 10.6 - probably because when it came out 10.8 didn't exist so far. So, may it be possible?
Another question: if it worked, I would have to change my student version of Lightroom 3 from one computer to another. But Adobe gave the admission only for one computer. So I suppose, I have to deinstall the one on Windows and reinstall it on Mac. But how does Adobe check this and how can I be sure, that it will work on my Mac?

Lightroom 3.6 runs fine on Mac OS X 10.8.
As to your other question, check the student license agreement for details. In general, you can move LR from Windows to Mac and stay within the terms of the license agreement but there may be restrictions I'm unaware of in the student license.

Will Lightroom 3 work with Mac OSX 10.7?

I just purchased an iMac with Lion 10.7 and would like to use Lightroom 3. The system requirements for Lightroom 3 shows OSX 10.5 or 10.6. Nothing listed for 10.7.

Be sure to download 3.5. That one has some Lion-related problems fixed.
No matter how you buy Lightroom, you can apply the serial number you get when you buy it to the downloaded trial version to make it a non-trial version.

Doesn’t appear every time and when I ‘Check For Updates’ I get message dialogue saying the software is up to date. Will try the Ignore option next time.

Why do you need to download a copy of the OS that is on your Mac. Use the recovery partition if you need to reinstall.
If you get another copy from the Mac App Store you will need to pay for it.

Use of Lightroom 1.1 with Leopard

I currently run Lightroom 1.1 with Mac OS 10.4.11. I'd like to upgrade to Leopard, but I'm wondering if I'll have problems with Lightroom when I do so.

Lightroom runs fine in Leopard.
BTW: you would be better served by upgrading to Lightroom 1.4.1 (free upgrade from 1.1). Lightroom 2.x (paid upgrade) adds many more features and is capable of running in 64bit mode with Leopard.

Just install on the new mac pro with the same serial number.

That's because the minimum tech specs for Lr4 is Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later ... and ... for computers with intel 64-bit capabilities ...

I don't know about Lightroom, but PSE allows you to have activated installations on two computers, so you're good there. Just install it on the laptop.
