Lightroom 5 installation stuck at "computing space requirements"

I am trying to install a new copy of Lightroom 5 from DVD, but the installation process gets stuck at the following screen:
It never gets beyond that point.  I have tried leaving it for up to 30 minutes but nothing changes.  If I click "cancel" nothing happens and I then have to use task Manager to close the installation programme.
I am using Windows 8 on a new Dell PC that far exceeds all the minimum specifications.
Any ideas?  Thanks.

I have now managed to install Lightroom 5.  It seems my computer needed to reboot to install some Windows updates.  I am guessing this was the cause of the problem.  I tried to restart the compuiter but it hung for ages on "restarting".  Eventually I switched off the power and restarted, then tried the install again and it worked fine.  I hope this may help anyone else with the same problem.

  • I can't install itunes to windows 7 64 bit because of computing space requirements

I tried to install iTunes 10.7 on my computer but it stops when the installation says :computing space requirements. Then it just says "rolling back action", "the installation was unsuccessful". I don't know what's going on because I have more than 40 GB of free space on my hard disk drive. I also tried with an older version of iTunes but it keeps doing the same thing.

Having the installer quit at that particular moment is consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Installation Stuck while installing Common & Company DB on remote SQL Serve

    Hi Forum,
I have two PCs - PC A and PC B. PC B has MS SQL 2008 R2 installed. Completely new installation and no other DBs. The SQL Server is called by the name of PC and it is "PCA".
On PC A, I am trying to install 8.81 SAP B1.
Step 1. The installation of server tools went throug fine. I can start the Service Manager, click on Settings->ConfigSecurity->MSSQL_2008, PCA, sa,passwd, OK->Connected Sucessfully.
Step 2. I choose to install Server Busines One Server->Database Already Installed->
    ServerName: PCA
I choose to install CommonDB and USDemoCompany.
Step 3: On PCA I can see, SBO-Common is created. It has all the tables and stored procedures etc. But no Data at all.
Error : On PCB the installation is hung or stuck at "Server performing requested steps" and shows Computing Space Requirements, Common Database.
That's it, the installation is stuck no processor activity on either PC.
This is the second attempt. I did complete uninstall and reinstall. I tried with SQLExpress and 2008R2. Same installer Hang on both situation.
    Please advise. Thank you.

The installation proceeded to near completion of remote database. SBO-COMMON installed without any errors on remote machine. However, SBODemoUSA and SBODemoCA had these errors :
    B1_VattAcctView Failed
    B1_DocLineView Failed
    ....and three more views failed.
On starting client on PCB, the client is unable to start or load any demo company. This is the error:
"Unable to Connect to companies in current server as algirithm is not updated; run common upgrade to update security algorithm".
Remember I am trying to hit database on remote server that is installed on PCA from client that is on PCB.
I have installed latest 8.81 licenses on both PCA and PCB.
Any idea how to get this installation with remote database working?
Note: The current server on Choose Company points to PCA.
Creating new database gives this error: Invalid Company DB (remember config files point to PCA remote machine for db).
    Thank you.

  • I recently had to get a new computer. It required me going from windows xp to 7 I am trying to put it one the new computer but I get following message  Windows installer could not be accessed could be in safe mode. How do I get around it? need it to charge

I recently had to get a new computer. It required me going from windows xp to 7 I am trying to put it one the new computer but I get following message  Windows installer could not be accessed could be in safe mode. How do I get around it? need it to charge my ipod on my computer.

I have used PCs for years, and still do at work.  But, last year my wife bought me a 15" MBP with the anti-glare screen (I was getting ready to buy for myself).  It took me all of 1 week to completely get used to the UI for OS-X, and now I really prefer it over the Win7 UI.  I have no experience with Win8.  Here are my thoughts:
    1) You can get a good computer using either a Win8 machine or a Mac.
    2) You will pay less for an equivalent PC.  But not as much less as some would have you believe.  You need to take into account the all aluminum body of the Mac (vs most PCs being plastic) and the size of the display.  And, don't forget that there is a lot of bundled SW on the Mac that you will actually find useful and would have to purchase for the PC.
    3) You can probably do everything you need on the PC platform with the right SW (you probably already know this since you are using one already).
That said, I think some things are easier on the Mac.  For example, GarageBand is a standard part of the Mac SW installation.  I got up and running recording directly from my bass into a track with a song imported from iTunes on another track in a snap.  I only had to purchase a Jam adapter ($99) for the bass so I could come in over USB instead of using the audio in port (which did work, by the way).  You can do the same on a PC, but you have to purchase the SW from somewhere.  And, it probably isn't cheap.
I use VMware Fusion to run those Win programs I already owned because it was much less expensive to buy Fusion than to replace them.
I would not return to a PC for my own use, given a choice.  But, I would be very careful about getting my wife a Mac without careful thought as she is not as tolerant of learning new things as I am.
    So, there you go.

Hello m.goo, and a warm welcome to the forums!
To eject the Disc, hold the Mouse button down, (or what passes for it on a Laptop), while powering up, if you also hold the Option key down at the same time it should eject & give you a chance to insert your install disc & wait for it to shw as a Boot option.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc , then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
If it appears to be time for An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, APPs, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

On every attempt to install Itunes I've recieved the error message, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package Vendor." What do?

I know there's a million threads like this, but I thought I'd record my experience.  I, too, was having the original poster's error when I tried to update iTunes on Windows XP.  I think I was stuck on 10.
I solved it by un-installing iTunes and every other Apple app.  I discovered that Apple Software Update would not un-install as its MSI file could not be found.  I used the "Windows Install Cleanup" tool from Microsoft to remove Apple Software Update from the list of installed programs.  Google "kb290301" for a Microsoft page that includes a download link for it.  After that, I was able to install a fresh copy of iTunes 10.5.2.
I'm not sure why this app's folder and MSI were missing from my computer.  I had once used Laplink PC Mover to move everything from my old computer to this one, and perhaps it missed a bit.

  • Lightroom 5 installation stalls

I have Lightroom 4 and PS CS6, and I just purchased CC for photographers. The first thing I tried to do was install LR 5 from the CC app. It got as far as 47%, then stalled. After 90 minutes, I cancelled the installation, rebooted my computer, and tried again. Same result -- it is now stalled at 47% and has been that way for over 2 hours. I have over 200GB of open disk space, so I don't think that's the problem. I'd appreciate any suggestion as to what to do next.  Thanks.
    Kelly

KellyMC I would recommend reviewing the installation logs for the Lightroom 5 installation.  You can find information on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

  • I am trying to upload itunes 10.5, but get a message "There is a problem with this Window Installer Pkg. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor".  What is it I need to do?

I am trying to install itunes 10.5, but during the download I get the following message, "There is a problem with this Window Installer Package.  A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personanal or package vendor."  If this is my personal computer and was able to upgrade to the previous version (pre 10.5), why not now?  What is my "package vendor"? And what is it I need to do to fix this?  The message is unclear.  Unfortunately, I deleted my itunes program, thinking that in doing so, 10.5 would finally load.  Now I have no itunes on my computer and unable to sync my iphone.  Help!
    Thanks - Rick

    Hi Rick,
by "repair" I mean I went to the control panel, option - programs and features, and in the list of all my installed programs I selected "Apple Software Update". On top of the screen you find the options Uinstall, Change and Repair. I clicked the repair button and that did the trick. After the repair I could uninstall the program. I also uninstalled iTunes, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support en Bonjour, thus all Apple programs. Then I installed iTunes 10.5 again and everything went fine.
    Success,
    Peter

  • Can I use lightroom on more than one computer

Am I able to use lightroom on more than one computer. As in if I download it to my PC can I then use the same license for my laptop?

Yes, you are allowed to have to installations at any time from the same license, provided each installation is for your own personal use and the two installations are not used simultaneously

  • Tried to install iTunes 10.5 this morning but an error appeared saying "problem with windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run." Can someone please help

I tried to install iTunes 10.5 this morning but an error appeared saying "problem with windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run." Can someone please help

Firstly, are you installing iTunes for the first time or are you updating your current version of iTunes?
If you're installing iTunes for the first time have you tried redownloading the installer package? Perhaps the file you downloaded originally is corrupted...
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you've tried that, then try installing iTunes as your computer's administrator. To do this right-click the install package and choose "Run as administrator".
If you're updating iTunes to the most recent version try repairing the Apple Software Update program on your computer. It's under the add/remove programs.
    1. Open the control panel
    2. Open Add/Remove programs (called "Programs and Features" in Windows 7)
    3. Navigate to "Apple Software Update" in the list and click on it
    4. Click on "Change" then select "Repair" (or just select the repair option in Windows 7)
Once you repair this, try running iTunes and the update again.
    Fingers crossed!

  • When tried to update my itunes to 10.5 I got this message: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

I got the iPod touch, when i went to connect it to my computer to upload my music to it, It said that I need to upgrade to 10.5 but when I did I got the message below. So I tried uninstalling itunes and quick time and I cant download it at all and still get the message below. I have NO itunes on my computer now.  =(
    The message I get is::
There is a problem with the Window installer package. A program required for this intall to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package venfor.
I have no idea what this message means or what to do....

There is a problem with the Window installer package. A program required for this intall to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package venfor.
Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • HT1926 When I try to update ITunes on my PC (Windows XP), the repeated message is "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor

How to update ITunes on my PC (Windows XP)?? Repeated attempts produce this messsage: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor."  I have an older version of ITunes on the computer.  Why can't I update it?
    MMettler

    Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
START > CONTROL PANEL/ > Add n Remove Programs, highlight ASU and click CHANGE then REPAIR
