Lightroom 5 mac crash with video

Lightroom 5 on OSX 10.9.1 will crash after a few seconds of displaying/selecting items if a video fie is present in that library folder. In Console, I get these messages every second until I force quit Lightroom:
([0x0-0x978978].com.adobe.dynamiclinkmanager.application[3472]) Job appears to have crashed: Abort trap: 6 Saved crash report for dynamiclinkmanager[3472] version 7.0.0 (7.0.0.0) to /Users/[Username]/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/dynamiclinkmanager_2014-01-21-102549_[Co mputername].crash
Unfortunately I'm not sure if the issue was already present before the 10.9.1 OSX update or with previous versions of Lr.
Anyody has any idea about how to fix this?

Same here.
I never found the solution and even Mac Os updates (10.9.1) did not solve.

    Yes:
Step 1: Delete the preview cache.
    That's it!
So, the trick is to find the preview cache.
    This document gives location:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-41.html
To be clear: it's a folder in with your catalog and you want to delete the whole folder but nothing else.
If your catalog file path is "X:\My Catalogs\My Catalog.lrcat", then the preview cache "folder" will be:
    X:\My Catalogs\My Catalog Previews.lrdata
So the trick is to find your catalog file, and since Lr won't open your catalog and run, you can't use it to find out.
But you should be able to find it by searching your disks for *.lrcat files - do you know how to do that?
    Which OS?
If you know the name of the catalog it will help, but also: it's probably NOT in with your program files.
UPDATE: The above-mentioned document gives default name and location for preview cache, so if you haven't overridden the default, it should be right where that document said it would be - is it? (of course you need to know your user name too, but presumably you do, no?).

So I plugged in my ligetech controller into my Macbook Pro and nothing like minecraft really worked with it, so I searched online and foud Usb Overdrive. Usb Overdrive installed and I restarted my computer. Now when I move any button on the controller my whole mac crashes. Any help?

    Uninstalling the USB Overdrive
                    To uninstall the USB
Overdrive, use the Uninstall USB Overdrive application that's located in
the Utilities folder inside your Applications folder. If you deleted
the uninstaller by mistake, you can reinstall the USB Overdrive (even if
it's already installed) and then remove everything with the Uninstall
    application.

My old mac crashed recently. It had final cut pro studio on it and I lost it. My mac is unsalvagable. Is it possible to reinstall?

If you have any version of FCP/FCS prior to FCP-X, all you need to do is intsal from the original install discs.
If you have FCP-X, you can download the app again from the AppStore when you log in using the same user name and password as you did when you purchased it originally.

  • Mid 2010 Macbook Pro 15" crashes with video artifacts then chimes SOS

This just started happening. I had Windows 7 installed and it began to blue screen on me, so I deleted the partition and opened bootcamp assistant to re-install Windows then the screen began flickering with artifacts and everything froze... It will no longer boot half the time and if it does it crashes shortly after. I also tried booting from the USB OSX installation and it crashed there too.
When it does boot to Yosemite, it displays a progress bar under the apple and takes a while.
Occasionally I can enter my password and get passed the lock screen, but usually it dies there.
    Is this a firmware issue?
I think the computer has been acting a little funny after Yosemite install.

You have the MacBookPro6,2—the Edsel of Macs. It may have the logic-board defect that was covered by this recall.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider, to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers do not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue that Apple calls "VST" (for "Video Switching Test.") Ask for it. A "Failed" result means that the fault is present. However, according to reports, some units may pass the test, and yet still be deemed eligible for repair under the program. Your experience may vary.
Print the first page of the panic report, if any, and the support page linked above, and bring them with you.
Note that the recall only applies within three years of purchase. After that, Apple may refuse the service. In that case, you may be quoted a price of about $300 (in the U.S.) for a "depot repair," which involves shipping the unit to a central repair facility and takes about two weeks. For that flat fee, anything found wrong with it should be fixed, not just the logic board.
The model was discontinued on February 24, 2011, so the recall has nominally ended. Some units may have been sold after that date by Apple as refurbished, or by resellers as new, and they might still be covered.
Residents of the EU may be entitled to warranty service for up to six years after purchase.
Some owners report that their unit was repaired under the program after the deadline had passed. Others report that the repair was covered by the extended warranty from a credit-card issuer. Again, your experience may vary.
Sometimes the replacement part is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility. If you decide to pay for a new logic board, test thoroughly during the 90-day warranty period on the repair. Some owners have reported that they went through as many as three replacement boards before getting one that worked.
If it's too late for your unit to be repaired free of charge, and you don't want to pay for the service, you may (or may not) be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching. To use the discrete graphics processor, you'll need a third-party utility to switch to it manually.
Often the problems start after an OS upgrade. If the upgrade was recent, and you have backups, then you can revert to a previous OS X version.
If you're dissatisfied with Apple's response, please keep in mind that no one here represents the company or can help with customer-service issues.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Downloader crash with video clips on memory card

I have a Canon SX30IS. When I use PSE9 to download from memory card, if there are any videos present on the card, the Photo Downloader crashes.
I believe that it is something to do with Apple Quicktime. When I uninstall Quicktime , PSE downloader does not crash while importing media form this camera,  but cannot play video clips. On reinstalling Quicktime , the PSE downloader crashes while searching the memory card for media.
I have not upgraded PSE twice now because of this crash. What makes it worse is that Apple Quicktime is a very poor media player, managing about 2FPS on the video clips from this camera when both the Canon and the VLC video codecs can manage 30FPS.
I would much prefer if I could choose to use a video renderer, like using any available Windows codecs rather than insisting on using annoying Apple software.
    Mike

Please let  me know the mode in which camera/card reader is connected to the system (USB/PTP/MTP). This can be determined from camera.
    Please try to follow:
    1. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer\PhotoDownloader.exe.
    2. Right click on 'PhotoDownloader.exe' and select 'Properties'.
    3. Naviage to 'compatability' tab and click on 'Run this program in comptability mode for' and select 'win xp service pack 3'.
    4. In the same dialog, click on 'Run this program as an admin' under 'privelage level'.
    5. Now run the: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe as an administrator.
Please let me know if you face any issues in following the steps.

If it's helpful, have a look at http://blog.officeformac.com/office-for-mac-2011-and-mac-os-x-10-7-lion/ - Microsoft's Mac team are working to resolve this known issue with Communicator in the Lion's environment.
Hopefully it won't be too long before it's remedied.

  • I-Mac crash with vertical lines down the screen

My i-Mac is about 4 years old, running OS-X version 10.8.2.
About 2 weeks ago my system suddenly crashed and the whole screen was filled with vertical lines - alternate blue and white.
Yesterday the same thing happened, except that the vertical lines were alternate red and white.
Both times I turned the desktop off, left it for a minute or two, and then turned it back on again. The system then booted up normally and I was able to access all my applications as normal.
To date my i-Mac has been very reliable but I am a bit worried that this 'crash' problem has now occurred twice. I have kept the operating system up-to-date and am running OS-X 10.8.2.
Could anyone please tell me why this problem is occuring and how I can fix it?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Thanks for your help.
I have a 24" i-Mac (bought new in 2009), do your comments still apply?'
What do you think could have caused the card to develop this fault? (Currently only internmittent, but it presumably will get worse)?
I will back up my files and go and see my local Apple Store as you suggested, but do you have any idea how much replacing the graphics card on my 24" machine would cost??

  • PSE 9/Mac crashing with .NEF files

I've been using PSE 9 for a few weeks with no issues. Then I got a new camera, a Nikon D7000, and it started crashing regularly. I'm editing .NEF files (RAW from the Nikon). I've had messages saying it can't initialize because of a program error as well as insufficient RAM. (I'm using a MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM.)
I'm no computer expert and I'm not sure what to do. I've rebooted, quit all other apps, and would happily reinstall the software if I knew how (I purchased it as a download--do I redownload it to reinstall?).
I don't want to shoot in another format (I may not know computers but I know photos...) so I'm really hoping not to hear that PSE is incompatible with .NEF. or that I need to buy more RAM--which I'm not sure I can even add to this machine.
    Help?

    hi
i'm a full time stock photographer using a nikon D2XS and have imported almost 20,000 nef files with no problems.  the nef files are completely viewable and editable in elements 9.0 and organizer.
u might want to check that ur using the latest Nikon software.
or the adobe raw as mentioned already.
also, u might want to make sure that in ur camera's set-up menu that u have just the NEF format selected.  u could also reset the nikons defaults and reselect everything.
also in the adobe raw make sure that u have the correct camera selected in the camera calibration tabs.
    good luck

    Hi,
After creating a new project, go to File > Project settings > General and change the Video renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only. Select "Delete Previews" after you click on OK. Now import your file and see if it does the same thing again.
If it still doesn't work, please specify the following details:
    OS?
    RAM?
    CPU?
    Graphics card?
    Thanks,

  • FLIP4 MAC  crashes with RADIOSHIFT

    - when I listen to http://media.a7.org/a7live, Radioshift starts to play for 3-4 min and then shuts down. it gives an error code : 8001
    - I woulld appreciate knowing how to prevent this from happening

    Uninstalling the USB Overdrive
                    To uninstall the USB
Overdrive, use the Uninstall USB Overdrive application that's located in
the Utilities folder inside your Applications folder. If you deleted
the uninstaller by mistake, you can reinstall the USB Overdrive (even if
it's already installed) and then remove everything with the Uninstall
    application.
