Lightroom 5, Mavericks, multiple displays

I doubt, I am the only person with this "problem" but I haven't found any discussion about it yet.
I'm running LR 5 on a MBP and updated recently to Mavericks. LR5 seems to be working just fine, except for this flaw.
My setup:
MBP (secondary display) with Thunderbolt display (primary display). I assigned a "Space" for LR5 on my primary display.
My problem:
When turning the secondary monitor inside LR5 on, it appears on my secondary display (MBP), but when I switch to a different space (i.e. Photoshop CC), and switch back to LR5, the secondary monitor displays on my primary display (Thunderbolt), and can't be moved back to my secondary display (MBP). I tried turning it off and on to no avail.
The 2 work arounds I found so far, is to
a) don't assign a "Space" to LR5, or
b) turn "Displays have seperate spaces" in Mission Control off
neither option is satisfactory to me.
Has anybody noticed the same, and or found a different work around?

Is there a solution to this? It is driving me completely %#$$#@ insane. It's taking me ten times as long to edit photos because I keep having to screw around with my view settings -- and then search frantically online for a solution. ARGH. I don't have time to be reinstalling LR 4 right now either.
Holy god it's making me mental. I just almost broke my hands pounding on my keyboard.
Sometimes pressing shift + command + F (mac) helps but every single time I come back from PS I have the secondary monitor's display on my primary monitor and it takes different combinations of keyboard strokes/ sometimes taking reopening LR to get it where it needs to be.
I will try the Spaces solution above but this is madness.
Edit: I just turned off my secondary monitor. It's bizarre and I'm probably imagining things, but it seems to be getting worse. I installed MAvericks the first day it came out and I feel like this monitor issue only started happening in the last week or so. I must have changed something somewhere that made things worse but it is now impossible to use a second monitor--which stinks bc I'm used to using it as part of my workflow. Not great timing for my holiday deadlines.

How do you move Illustrator CC, InDesign CC etc to the second display?
If i use Mission Control it only moves the pasteboard and not the taskbar, tools etc
Ive tried InDesign CC - same issue, Photoshop CC is ok it moves over with no issue.
    Thanks

    Hi Joost,
I have managed to get a solution by simply dragging the header bar from the MacBook Pro Display to my 2nd Larger Display in the System Preferences - Displays Settings. This seems to work well and once the 2nd screen is disconnected the MacBook then gathers all the windows together.
    Thanks for your help

  • Mav Multiple Displays on 2010 iMac?

It says Mavericks Multiple Displays requires 2011 iMac or later. Does this mean I lose the ability to run multiple monitors on my 2010 iMac or is this just in reference to multiple menus, etc.? Thanks.

No, you won't lose the ability on your model.

  • Why doesn't Screen Sharing work across multiple displays anymore in Mavericks?

    Hey Guys,
I'm having a problem with Screen Sharing in Mavericks. It wasn't a problem in Mountain Lion, so I'm wondering if you could help me.
I use a Mac Pro with multiple displays to connect to another Mac Pro with multiple displays. Here's how it looks at first:
Two remote desktops shown in one window on one display locally. (Note: there are two different displays connected to this Mac Pro.)
In Mountain Lion, I used to be able to scale this up across displays. When I do that now, the remote desktop scales down to the lower-left corner. Observe:
When I mouse over it, there's some screen tearing (artifacts):
    Any ideas?
    Notes:
    Yes, I've Google'd it.
I don't have Mavericks' multi-display support enabled. I disabled it to spread out Avid Media Composer and Adobe After Effects usage.
    Thank you,
    Isaac T.

  • No Multiple Displays On OS Maverick

I have upgraded to OS Maverick and realised there is no multiple displays on my 17" MacBook Pro. I have checked that my system requirement is supported by OS Maverick. Could anyone advice me what went wrong?
My MacBook Pro specs: Mid 2010, MacBook Pro6,1.
                                            Intel Core i7, 2.66 GHz
                                             8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM
                                            Intel HD Graphics 288 MB
                                            17", 1920 x 1200 screen

Do you have another physical display attached (a separate screen outside your MacBook Pro)? Mavericks doesn't create multiple displays where none existed before, it just has different support for them.

  • Macbook Pro running Mavericks. Multiple display issue

I didn't have this problem running OS X Mountain Lion but now that I have upgraded to Mavericks the display on my second monitor (an HD TV) is too large for the screen and no resolution changes from the display menu have any effect
To be clear, the issue seems to be that the detected screen is larger than the actual monitor causing the edges of the display to be cut off. This is most evident in full screen mode as it cuts off things such as video action bars from view and the tabs from the top of browser search windows (especially annoying with browser windows as it also hides from view the minimize button).
Is there any way to adjust the screen size in OS X Mavericks as changing the resolution does nothing. Any help much appreciated.

I should also add that it has the problem where when it goes to sleep it's 50/50 as to whether it will wake up or not. If I click 'put hard disks to sleep when possible', it wakes up fine, but I don't like doing this.

  • OS X Maverick Multi Display Support for grouping multiple monitors into one display?

Will the new Mac Pro be capable of grouping multiple monitors into one large display?  Similar to AMD Eyefinity for the purpose of gaming.

The current Mac Pro, or any Mac released since 1987 that can support multiple displays can ALREADY support combining all attached displays into one Extended Desktop, onto which you can open the gaming window and game across multiple displays. It is built into the System Software.

  • Multiple displays, great. single display tricky in Mavericks.

I bought a new external display to work on a MacBook Air through Thunderbolt but when I close the lid of the MBA the display goes black / sleeps. I've reset the SMC and it worked until shut down, and upon restart was back to going black. I can get it to work with the MBA open and use multiple displays but this is not what I want to achieve or have the desk space for.
Does anyone else have the same issue or even have a solution?
I'd be interested to hear anything.

    Dan,
for a Mid 2010 model, you’ll need to use something like the Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Mac Edition multi-display adapter with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter to connect your current display. If your current display or your second display has a DVI input port, then no additional adapter would be needed.

  • How do you use multiple displays with a MacBook Pro and iMac

I have an iMac and a MacbookPro laptop both upgraded to OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).  I'd like to use multiple displays with them.  Can I do this without an Apple TV?  They are both on the same network.  If I can, can someone please give some instructions on how this can be done?
    Thanks!

Both computers have ports for external monitors. Check your user manuals. Only one display can be added to the MBP, but newer iMacs have dual Thunderbolt ports.
Do your own Google research to learn what to do, but reading your manuals should be all you really need. It' not rocket science yet.

  • How to get Lightroom 5.7 to display in full screen mode on Mac Yosemite?

How can I get Lightroom 5.7 to display in full screen mode in Yosemite (Mac OS X 10.10.1)?
Of course, that old full screen button at the top right of the window is gone now in Yosemite, but the third button in the top left of the window (the one that used to be green) should perform the same function, but it doesn't -- it just resizes the window, which was the default behaviour in Mavericks.
And there's no "Enter Full Screen" command under the View menu, either.
Seems pretty essential that a photo editing app would have a full screen view to remove all the clutter. How do you do it in Lightroom?

Shift+F Toggles the different screen modes for the Lightroom application, pressing F Takes an individual image into full-screen mode.

  • How can I better use multiple displays as if they were multiple computers?

In Mavericks I read online that multiple display support is the best it's ever been, but it's still very frustrating.  Is there any way to get the "multi displays are different spaces" option to act more as it promises?  Photoshop, for instance, refuses to let me move all of its control windows to my calibrated display, forcing me to go back and forth between my Eizo and internal monitors; one for its colors and the other for the tool pallates.
I want to use my MacBook display just for email and such, so I don't want to close the lid, but I wish it could be really segrigated.  The experience I'm looking for is sort of like 2 computers with a shared keyboard and mouse.  One dock per display is desprately needed.  Can that be done?
Also allowing each display to have one applicatioin currently in front when multiple input devices are present would be greatly appreciated.  I could then keep one keyboard and tablet in front of the Eizo and use the internal for use on the Macbook - if the OS could learn my setup it could really be the best of the benefits of having 2 computers and just one.  Shared Clipboard and one Space colaborating seamlessly with another, while having the abillity to work entirely within one space and then move to the other while waiting for a command to finish executing, or to go back to the file system to open more work.
This is so close to perfect but it has a few really frustrating limitations.  Any advice?
    thank you
    -Jeremy

  • Multiple display problems

I have a mac mini with mavericks and I am using multiple displays. I am having a several problems. The first one is when I use a program like vlc, quicktime, itunes, etc... and go fullscreen, my second display goes black. I found one way around it but i was wonering if there was a setting or something that I missed. My second question if I have a video playing in one screen, can i have the sound come from that and in my other screen have my game playing and have the sound com from that display instead of it both commin out from on source?

The screen going black is up to each app.  Often with video apps it will darken the second screen for an uninterrupted experience but has an option to turn it off.  I don't use VLC, Quicktime or iTunes for video but if you use MPlayerX or MPlayer OSX Extended for example you simply go into the settings and uncheck the black out second screen option.
As for audio, it gets complex.  There are apps which can route sound to a designated device (like each monitor and mini-jack cable).  Several video players can let you select an audio-out device; this means while you let your game go to the deafult while VLC for example would go to your designated monitor.

  • Icon for multiple displays?

I downloaded Mavericks yesterday and am looking for the icon that allows for multiple displays.  According to the overview it should be on my menu bar but nothing has shown up.  Is there a setting I need to change?  Or, is there another way I can connect my laptop to my TV through my Apple TV using wi-fi?  Thanks!

Try System Preferences, Displays, check the box to show Mirroring in menu bar.
    Is your Mac capable?
    AirPlay Mirroring
Requires a second-generation Apple TV or later. Supported by the following Mac models:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
    Mac Pro (late 2013)

  • Analysis Authorization based on Hier node with multiple display hierarchies

Hi guys - I've got a problem where s.o. might have an idea of how to switch on the light at the end of the tunnel, I am currently standing in:
    Requirement:
Cost Center Authorization should be given through RSECADMIN, reporting should be possible for any hierarchy that exists for the authorization relevant info object.
    Preferred solution:
The Cost Center Analysis Authorization should be given through RSECADMIN - Hierarchy node assignment.
u2022     A dedicated Authorization Cost Center Hierarchy will be maintained in ECC6 as an alternative cost center hierarchy and extracted into BW.
u2022     The RSECADMIN Hierarchy node assignment should be based on a particular node (Type 2).
u2022     The display level will be specified as required (here: Level 7)
u2022     The Authorization granted should be independent of hierarchy name and version (validity 3).
    Reporting Scenario and technical impact:
As mentioned above, when designing and running a query the user should be able to freely select other (i.e. than the authorization) display hierarchies for the authorization relevant reporting object 'Cost Center' as well. The technical names of the semantically relevant hierarchy nodes could therefore vary. E.g. cost centers 1, 2 and 3, being assigned under hierarchy node u2018Au2019 of the RSECADMIN relevant authorization hierarchy, could be subsumed by hierarchy node u2018Bu2019 in another display hierarchy, which the user may want to display in accordance to his reporting needs. Ideally, the alternative display hierarchy should therefore display node u2018Bu2019.
My findings so far (based on prototyping) turn out that this is not possible as long u2018Bu2019 (and its hierarchy) is not authorized in RSECADMIN. Can these findings be confirmed? And if not, would anyone have an idea of how to facilitate the reporting scenario?
Would there be any other way to grant access, possibly based on RSECADMIN single values, and also enable the user to flexibly display hierarchies with only those hierarchy nodes whose single cost center values the user has been given access to?
    Thanks everyone for your input...

    HI CLause,
On Jul 14 2009, you wrote in SDN and said:
    FYI: Found a solution...
The hierarchy analysis authorization will be based on a navigational attribute of cost center.
With analysis authorizations it is possible to declare the Auth object (e.g. 0COSTCENTER__RACCAUT0) as authorization relevant and leave the superior object 0COSTCENTER auth irrelevant.
The auth will be given for 0COSTCENTER__RACCAUT0. This object will be placed as a filter of the query, being restricted by an Authorization variable for hierarchy nodes.
Due to the concept of Analysis Authorizations, this variable will automatically pick up the nodes granted as part of RSECADMIN Hierarchy based Authorization.
As mentioned above, 0COSTCENTER as the regular reporting characteristic remains auth irrelevant and can therefore take any hierarchy thatu2019s available. Reporting on single values will be possible, too. Only those nodes show up that hold the authorized cost centers in accordance to the authorization.
If the auth relevant 0COSTCENTER__RACCAUT0 is not used in the query definition by either not taking it in as a filter or skipping the Auth variable, the query will launch the message that the authorization is missing. No data show up at all.

    See this thread:
Analysis Authorization based on Hier node with multiple display hierarchies
I am also in the same situation as you and need to understadn your solution. I understand that you created a Nav Attr on 0COSTCENTER and made this auth relevant whilst ensuring that 0COSTCENTER is NOT auth relevant. This is all fine. The issue was you have multiple hierachies for 0COSTCENTER, how did the new Nav Attr help you solve your issue. When loading 0COSTCENTER what values did you load ino the new Nav Attribute and how did that link to the hierachies? Also, in RSECADMIN you created hiearchy nodes based on the Nav Attribute but I am confused as to what values you have in the Nav Attr.
I appreciate if you can share your solution from the past in more details.
    many thanks

  • How do I connect multiple displays to a Lenovo 405

how do I connect multiple displays to a Lenovo 405 running windows 7?  I tried a video card but the built in amd video port would not function with the video card plugged in.
Moderator Note; subject edit, post moved to here

    hi harry13,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
If you're referring to the Lenovo® H405, this unit has an integrated VGA and HDMI out according to this pdf data sheet.
If you'll be using a flat panel monitor (that usualy has a VGA connector and a single link DVI D digital interface), you will need to connect 1 monitor to the VGA out and use an HDMI to single link DVI-D converter on the other monitor. You might need to scan for hardware changes under the device manager to identify the monitor that's connected to the HDMI to DVI-D converter. Note that you need to change the video setup under BIOS to IGD or the onboard graphics.
If you'll be using your discrete video adapter for the multi-monitor setup, you must change the video setup to PEG under the BIOS and the video card must have a vga or hdmi/dvi out.
Also, see these guides as a reference:
How to set up dual monitors in Windows 7
Dual monitor setup: Two monitors are better than one
