Lightroom 5 Print module.

Hi,
I suddenly have some Lightroom 5 problems.
1) If I want to print an image,
whenever I move from either"Library" or "Develop" modules into the Print module the image in the workspace changes from the image I am working on to the first image in that library folder.
This happens whatever folder I am in.
This happens if I am in grid or loupe view
The only way I can get the image I am working on into the print module is to highlight it in the slide show row at the bottom and then click on the "Print"module icon.
These problems started today,previously I could move from module to module keeping the same image.
2) The program (lightroom) itself copied a complete folder contents (620) images into a collections folder without prompting from me.
After restarting Lightroom that collections folder disappeared.
I have a MacBook pro and an iMac.
I have recently upgraded both to Lightroon 5 and Mavericks.
I have the same upgrades on my MacBook Pro and the program seems to be ok.
It seems to me that the program may have become corrupted?
If so could I reinstall over the existing program? or should I uninstall or delete the app first?
Any suggestions please
Rich.

Hi,
I have answered the first part myself.
At the bottom of the work space there is  Use: All Filmstrip Photos
                                                                            Selected Photos
                                                                            Flagged Photos
I must have unknowingly changed this from Selected Photos  to  All Filmstrip Photos.
With Selected Photos the image I am working on stays in view if I am in Library,Develop or Print Module.
I hope this may help others.
Rich

  • Lightroom - print module not working on mac osx 10.5.1  (leopard)

    When I switch to print module in light room comes up as error when changing modules but every every other module seems to work fine.

    Jao, I tried it but no luck. As John recommended, I also uninstalled Lightroom, deleted the preference file as well as the print templates per your suggestion and reinstalled the latest Lightroom 1.3.1. Still no luck with using the left panel in the Library module.
    One thing I just noticed was that if I open a very small catalog of ~200 images, everything appears to work fine. It looks like a problem with working with my 12,000 image catalog which always worked well before I upgraded my iMac to OS X Leopard. By the way, I've got the preferences setup to always check the integrity of the catalog at the start of every session. Everything is supposedly good.
    Anyhow, thoughts and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I hate the thought of reimporting all my images and losing all my metadata in the process. Thanks.

  • No Lightroom Templates in Print Module Template Browser

    I recently installed Lightroom 1.1 on a Windows XP Prof PC. Print/Template Browser/Lightroom Templates is empty, although other templates (e.g. Web) do appear when the appropriate module is selected.
    I looked for these templates on the Lighroom CD, but didn't find any.
    The folder C:\me\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Print Templates contains only another empty folder User Templates. Other folders do have templates, for example, Text Templates.
    Do I have to do something special to install these, or if not, and they weren't installed as they should have been during installation, where can I find them?
    Thanks,
    Martin

    What photograph size on what paper size do you want to print?
    You can select Contact Sheet / Grid as you layout engine and adjust the number of rows and columns.
    If you want to print different photographs at arbitrary positions, you'll have to wait for LR3.

  • Lightroom 3.3 print module crashing

    I have tried trouble shooting this problem, but can't find a fix.
    I am running Lightroom 3.3 on an iMac and it has been running fine.  But  a couple if issues have started lately.  The most troubling is that when I attempt to print using the print module, the processing begins and then Lightroom shuts down.
    I have done both a restart and cold boot of the computer.  I have downloaded a fresh copy of Lightroom 3.3, deleted the old copy and reinstalled the program.  None of those routiner solutions worked.  I thought perhaps the catalog had suddenly become corrupt, so I did a backup with integrity check and it did not show a problem.  I also tried opening a different catalog and the previous backup of the current catalog, the problem continues to happen.  I generally print with Lightroom managing the printer with a professionally written custom profile.  This was all working fine the day before yesterday.  So I tried changing the profile and using the generic Canon profile, just in case the profile had been corrupted.  I also tried printing with the printer managing the printing.  This worked once but crashed when I tried it again.
    The crash report says this is an "Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV), Exception Codes: 0x000000000000000d, 0x0000000000000000

    I would appreciate any help or suggestions as to how to fix this.
    BTW, another problem I've had recently involves going from Lightroom to Photoshop.  When in develop mode, when I right click to open an image in Photoshop CS5, instead of opening the image Photoshop brings up a dialogue box that is looking for an image already on my hard drive that I would want to open.  My workaround has been that if I go to the "Photo" menu dropdown "edit with" and select it, then Photoshop will open the image.  I am guessing that these problems are not connected, but I mention it just incase it sheds light on whan the problem might be.
    Thanks in advance.

    I'm sure you've worked this out by now. But I just ran into the same problem and the only thing that resolved the issue was removing all printers from my system preferences and readding them.

  • Lightroom 4, Print Module

    Is it possible to have multiple Identiy Plates, in one print format that has multiple images, in the print format?  Some my clients want printed formats that have multiple images in the print and want titles for each image in the print format.
    Thank you,
    Jack

    Janelle,
    Thanks for your quick response.  I did not make my question clear, I will try again.
    I have created a custom template that has two image places.  I have added the two images to this template and now I want to add a title(different for each image) to each image directly under each image, in this template.  I will also add my watermark (lower right-hand corner) to the finished print.  Hopefully, I will have a printed sheet of paper that will contain two images and a title for each image and my watermark on the paper.  Is all the possible in LR4 in the Print Module?
    If not do you know how I could do this?  I currently have on my computer CS6 Extend and Lightroom 4.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jack

  • Lightroom 4.2 crashes when entering print module

    Hello!
    When going from any module into the Print Module, Lightroom crashes.   Another thread suggested using a new catalog without any templates.  I did and the application did not crash.  Unfortunately, Lightroom is now booting into the print module with the catalog that is causing it to crash.  From previous threads it sounds as if the issue was print templates.  How do I delete the error causing templates?
    All help is welcomed!
    Thanks!
    Paul

    Victoria,
    Many thanks for the fast reply.
    The first time I tried opening LR with the Ctl held down it gave me the option of selecting a catalog.  The good catalog opened then I tried the normal one.  Now both catalogs go directly to print and crash.    Ctl does not give me the option of selecting a catalog.  The Store Preset wasn't checked and I did rename the folder.
    Other avenues?
    Thanks again,
    Paul

  • More text options in Print Module

    It's frustrating to be able to do just about everything in LR - but not quite.  I'd like more text options for the printing module.  For example, when I'm printing a limited edition print, I put the edition number in the bottom left corner, under the image, within the border of the print.  The title goes in the middle, slighty larger font, and then possibly a watermark.
    I can use the Identity Plate to create a nice looking title, but the Photo Info will only print in the middle with no options for positioning it anywhere else, or no options for other fonts.

    I would second this proposal..... with a serious passion.  I think it is unbelievable that Adobe will not provide us with the option to print the metadata with our images.
    The current metadata print options are in the dark ages, a joke and an insult to anyone trying to put a proper caption on a printed image.  For example, one cannot currently control the postion or font of a basic caption, never mind a considered template which might incorporate copyright, date, author, etc..   I also make folios (ala Lenswork).  Unfortunately, a detour to PS also means that this must be done manually, rather than using a template.  Adobe have all the tools to make this work, many of them are in the Slideshow module, so already the code is inside Lightroom.   It is so sad that a company like Blurb can provide these tools free of charge in free software, but Adobe seem incapable of providing these basic features.  I was disappointed they were not in version 1, frustrated when missing from version 2 and  apoplectic when not in version 3. I might excuse the omission if I could build a template in PS which allowed me to place text from the metadata into a formattted page layout, but this is not possible either. So despite the fact I have purchased both Lightroom and Photoshop, and paid for upgrade after upgrade of both products, this basic facility is still missing.
    I can only deduce that people in Adobe print images in two modes.
    1) a lonely image in approx middle of the page with no text formatting or
    2) an image in draft mode with a caption and a name plate and uncontolled other text in ad hoc placements (totally unsuitable for presenting to a client).
    I would put this requirement ahead of so many other popular requests (even ahead of requests such as networked storage, soft proofing, etc).  I can mention other software products who do a really good job of printing meta data with images, do serious work on sharpening, etc. for a fraction of the cost of the Lightroom / Photoshop combination. Becasue I am on an Adobe site I will not mention the names of these non Adobe products. If these small companies can solve this problem, surely Adobe can do so as well.
    I also find that I cannot trust the page setup templates that I do create. It seems to me that many of the properties (ie page size, orientation, matt / gloss options) disappear without warning.  I suspect this happens when I have problems printing to networked Epson printers (maybe others, but I only use Epson ...with Windows 7.)  This is very frustrating when my template changes from Matt in to Gloss, with subsequent wasted of ink and frustration and lost time in correcting and re-updating the template.
    Adobe, please finish the Print Module.  I do not want any more glitzy updates to publishing to the most recent social media exchange medium. Can we not get basic printing working first.
    (..... thanks for listening.....end of rant).

  • Text & Graphic from Print Module

    I bought Lightroom to help grow my Events business, we print on the night, we have an Awards night to shoot soon.
    We would like to have a graphic (Logo) and Text naming the type of Award.
    Would somebody please help and explain how to achieve this.
    As I understand how the Print Module works, It's one or the other. I know that I could use the Watermark function to add the text, but this would be OVER the image.
    Is there a way to design the template then import to LR? I cannot see a way in PS!
    Any help or advice would be great .
    Thanks.

    I could see that being useful too.  As it may not make the final release, and we wouldn't want the request to get lost in beta land, might I suggest adding it as a suggestion on the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family where it can easily be tracked?  If you post the link to your request here, others can also vote on your request.  If you search there, you may even find similar requests that you might like to add your vote to.

  • More Creative Layout from Print Module?

    Hello,
    I am using LR 3.2 and am wondering if it is possible to make more creative layouts inside the print module?
    I would like to have a backgorund, maybe some drop shadows and also be able to rotate images by a few degrees like 15 degrees.
    This seems impossible with what I have tried so far.
    Is there a plugin or something of the like?  Or maybe a good workflow with other CS applications?
    I am trying to preserve the RAW images and do as much in LR as possible but it sounds like maybe InDesign might be the best for this?
    This is for a large photo volume application, not just a one off design.
    Thanks for your input

    Lr certainly doesn't have the ability and I'm not aware of any plug-ins that allow the type of layout you describe. You might wish to submit a feature request though http://forums.adobe.com/community/lightroom/lightroom_feature_requests?view=discussions In the meantime, InDesign is probably your best option.

  • Help me format text overlay in print module

    I would like to print my photos with Caption field on one line and Date field on the next line. I would also like to change the font to something else. This is easily done in the slideshow module, just make two text overlays, position them where desired, pick a font and all done. Is it possible to do in the print module though? It seems as though only one overlay can be done. This is fine if I can force a line break, but I cannot seem to figure that out. Ctrl-Enter fails to work as does putting in the html code for a line break. I also cannot figure out if it's possible to change the font of the text overlay in the print module. Is what I wish to do possible? If so, how do I accomplish it? Many thanks!
    Bonus points if it's possible to right justify and to bold the Caption field but leave the Date field in regular typeface.
    I've also attempted this with the Identity Plate; it has all the formatting options I need, but it does not appear as though metadata can be displayed there, am I wrong?

    Hopefully this will be improved drastically in the final release of version 2. In an earlier thread, I asked about printing that used to work in Lr 1.2 and stopped working in Lr 1.3. An Adobe engineer replied it was a known bug. I am also a pro photographer and love Lightroom. jc

  • Print module issues

    Hi,
    for me there are three issues that are missing / should be improved with the print module:
    The  sharpening quality and setting options are still behind i.e. Qimage.  Having  in mind what Qimage is costing, it should be fairly ease for  Adobe to  reach the better Qimage output sharpening quality.
    Soft proofing is still missing and should be added in the next major release at the latest.
    There  should be something like a loop view for the print layout screen. When  using large format printer formats the rulers become extremely small that an  exact positioning is almost impossible.
    Looking forward to these, in the given priority.

    The print resolution is no longer displayed making it difficult to decide if I need to modify the resolution prior to printing.
    Why would you modify the resolution? One of the huge advantages of Lightroom is that you don't have to do things like this anymore.  You simply choose the output resolution in the Print Job panel and Lightroom takes care of the rest.  How (and why) exactly are modifying resolution?
    As to your second question, I am getting a print preview when I turn it on in the printer driver. Although I would never use it, it is working here.
    It might help to submit some system info and some printer info:

  • Print Module templates layouts do not update on the fly

    Print layouts do not update on the fly when attempting to choose between various Print Module>Template Browser> Lightroom or User templates. This occurs in all three Layout Styles. The very first layout chosen in Single Image/Contact Sheet, Picture Package, or Custom Package is the permanent 'default' and cannot be changed. The Preview will show as expected however any image stays stuck in the very first layout I chose after installing LR4 beta.
    For example, I first chose Template Browser>Lightroom Templates>Maximum Size, and Layout Style>Single Image/Contact Sheet. Clicking through any other Templates (Lightroom or User defined) will alter the preview but not the layout display in the Print window. Same problem in either of the other Layout styles. I have been trying for days to rectify this, but it seems somehow more difficult than LR3. and not what I expect.
    As a comparison, using the same steps in LR3 works perfectly as all print template/layouts can be changed on the fly as expected. I have no problems generating different layouts in LR3 and have been using LR print module since version 1 without this issue.
    Is this a bug or are there any extra steps or workarounds I have not discovered? Any other testers seen this?

    Update with more info. What am I doing wrong, if anything?
    Print layouts do not update on the fly when attempting to choose between various Print Module>Template Browser> Lightroom or User templates. This is not a hang since the layouts do not change after the initial choice no matter how much time elapsed.
    iMac OS 10.6.8. 8GB RAM.Processor Intel Core 2 Duo. NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS.
    The steps as follows:
    1) Lightroom 3.6 & LR4Beta exist side by side.
    2) LR4 Beta> Print Module;
    3) From filmstrip choose image;
    4) Template Browser> Lightroom4Beta Templates>Maximum Size;
    5) Preview displays as expected;
    6) Layout Styles>Single Image/Contact Sheets
    7) Template Browser> Lightroom4Beta Templates>click through any other templates (Lightroom or User defined);
    8) Image layout in main window does not update;
    9) Previews update;
    10) Layout Style>Picture Package;
    11) Template Browser>Maximum size is then automatically shown, however the template in the main window is actually (1) 7x5, (2) 2.5x3.5;
    12) Any further attempts to change the layouts regardless of Style Layout choices are not successful.
    13) Close LR4Beta>re-open LR4Beta;
    14) Repeat test;
    15) Print Module layouts do not update on the fly as expected;
    16) Close LR4Beta and all applications;
    17) Reboot iMac.
    18) Open LR4Beta only;
    19) LR4Beta>Print Module>Template Browser >Lightroom Templates>Maximum Size;
    20) Image displays in main layout window with Template and Preview display as expected;
    21) Choose different image>Template Browser>Lightroom Templates>Maximum Size;
    22) Click through templates, layouts DO NOT update in main window although previews do automatically update.
    23) CONCLUSION - In Lightroom 4 Beta>Print Module>Template Browser, image layouts do not change after initial choice as expected.
    I posted this on Photoshop.com as a problem.

  • Print Module - Set Explicit Font Sizes

    In the Print Module Identity Plate can Lightroom set font size explicitly instead of using only a % scale factor?
    The scale factor is a great idea but it would be a lot more convenient at times to set the font size explicitly to 10 or 12 or whatever so it could carry over to other titles if you want all your titles to print in a specific font size (e.g. 12 points). That's already possible with Vibrance, Recovery and a host of other settings (including the Identity Plate scale factor itself!) and it's very valuable to be able to have those exacting controls.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Ian,
    I'd be very pleased if I'm doing something wrong. From what I see the Identity Plate supports only one font size, and only for the most recent photo. When I choose Edit and type in a new title of a different length Lightroom changes the size of the font (the longer the title, the smaller the font and vice versa). Try this:
    1) Open Identity Plate and title the picture "Hello".
    2) Change the title to "I just love Adobe Lightroom so very much!"
    The title will be smaller. Lightroom seems to disregard the Identity Plate font size.
    I just tried your recommendation and no matter how I changed the Identity Plate font size in the Print module (e.g. from 38pt to 8pt) the photo's title text size barely changes, I have to use the Scaling slider every time. That font sizing functionality only works for me in the Library module when I'm creating my actual Identity Plate.
    Every time I change pictures I have to re-do this step. The way I'm dealing with this is changing the scaling factor (or with your recommendation, the font size) every time for every different-length title and/or enlarging/shrinking the title box for each photo.
    As I explained in my other reply to your other post, this is very time-consuming when you're printing 50-100 titled photos in a single day/weekend (not to mention the fact that it's physically impossible to set every scaling factor so all titles print exactly the same size font).
    It would be a lot better for Lightroom to automatically save all the print parameters the way it saves all other of the picture's metadata.
    If you could share an easy way to make that much faster I'd be quite grateful.
    Robert

  • More versatile print module

    I'd like to have a more versatile print module to realise composition with one or many pictures. It could also be nice to include more border options like in the mogrify plug in.

    The ability to export ICC profiles directly from LR without having to use Photoshop, Mogrify, or some other printing program would help those of us who use commercial printers. The concept of using Lightroom only with in-house printers is not consistent with the cost of good photo printers today, $600 and up, not to mention the expense of ink for large prints.

  • Print Module - Page Panel: Page options & Photo Info lost

    In the print module there are only 4 features left now in my final release version of LR3:
    1. Page Background colour
    2. Identity Plate
    3. Watermarking
    4. Cut Guides.
    Victoria Bampton described also the features with a screenshot of LR3b2 in her "Missing FAQ-Rough Cut" (page 366):
    4. cut guides did not exist, but instead Page options with tick boxes, then 5. Photo Info drop down box, then 6. Font Size.
    What has happened?
    How do I cover the following use case: Create an invitation with photos and own free text about date/time/venue?
    Please don't answer "export a jpg from Lightroom and then use MS Word or some other editor".
    From the beta phase I got the impression that creating such a pdf should be possible directly from Lightroom.

    How do I cover the following use case: Create an invitation with photos and own free text about date/time/venue?
    Lightroom's text layout features might not be as powerful as you might thought. You're option are:
    Use a custom Identity plate to add some static text or graphic anywhere on the page.
    Use watermarking to add some static text or graphic anywhere on the photo.
    Use Photo Info to add some metadata, such as IPTC location or capture time, somewhere around your photo.
