Lightroom 5 - problem with diashow

Diashow doesn't run.
When I start the preview of the diashow I always see a black screen. And it is also not possible to export the video. Do you have some ideas to solve the Problem?
in Lightroom 4 all the function ran very well.

Jay,
You haven't meantioned whether you're using Mac or Windows or if keyboard is still functional. If keyboard is still working the following procedures will help you close LIghtroom.
For windows you can use the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys in combination then choose from the list 'Start Task Manager'. In Task Manager you select Lightroom then hit 'End Task button'. A dialog will open, choose 'End Now'. This procedure will close Lightroom
The procedure on Mac is slightly easier in that you use the Cmd+OPtion+Esc keys to open the Force Quit Applications dialog. Again, choose Lightroom then 'Force Quit' button.

  • Lightroom 5-problems with print colors

I have Lightroom 5 and am having problems with my prints.  They look great in LR, but when I upload them to different websites for prints skin tones have a grayish-green cast to them and print with the grayish-green cast.  I can pull them up in other applications, i.e. Windows photo gallery and Facebook and they look fine.  I checked my preferences and they are set to sRGB.  Any other ideas?  For example I made an invitation for a friend, the pictures I processed in LR and then used Photoshop CS4 to make the invitation.  The invitation colors printed great.  She liked the pictures I had taken and asked to have those too.  When she printed the actual pictures they had a grayish-green tint to them but the invitation looked fine even though it was made from the same pictures that came out grayish-green.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have recalibrated my screen and the pictures still look the same.   I looked in my LR and made sure that sRGB is selected for the color space for external editing.  Is there a way to check if the pictures exported with the prophotoRGB instead of sRGB?  I tried looking in properties on the photo and didn't see anywhere where it would tell me whether it was sRGB or prophotoRGB.  I am kinda new to all of this so maybe I am looking in the wrong place, but I was under the details tab in properties on the photo.
The recalibration was just a "also nice to make sure you have done this". Just to check if you don't have another rare problem. The root cause of your problem is clearly that your exports are not sRGB. You set that in the export screen as Per nicely shows. You should keep the color space for external editing that you set in preferences at prophotoRGB. That one has nothing to do with your exports and you're usually better off using the default.
You can check your exported images using several options. On Macs, you simply open it in preview and do a get info (command-I) on it or use Photoshop. You can also see the color profile in the "more info" tab in the "get info" panel in Finder. In the general pane you will see the profile name. On a windows machine it is somewhat more difficult for me to tell you as I have none anywhere near but if you have Photoshop, you can open your jpeg in that and at the bottom of the window click the little sideways triangle that points to the right and select "Document Profile".

  • Lightroom 2 - problems with trial download?

I thought I would try Lightroom 2 to see how it compares to Photoshop Elements 8.  I downloaded the trial version okay and it seemed to install okay.  When I tried to run it, the initial panel comes up and a few seconds later is glossed over by a panel saying to the effect that "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working" and I get a smaller panel to the effect that Windows is "checking things out".  I then get a button to push that tells me to "Close Program".
Obviously something is wrong.  I am running Windows 7 on a Dell Inspiron 545 (64 bit - I believe) and I am not sure what else is under the hood that might cause problems.  I have Photoshop Elements loaded and it runs with some problems, but I don't understand how that could affect Lightroom.  I also tried to download and run Lightroom 3 Beta and had the same problem.
Any help or insight that anyone would care to provide will be greatly appreciated, because I have heard that Lightroom is a very good product (not sure how bug-free it is compared to Elements) and I would sure like the opportunity to at least test it out.  Thanks in advance.

I removed all the Preference files that you indicated. I uninstalled Lightroom 2.6.  I then went back to the NVIDIA site and checked for an update to my driver for Windows 64-bit configuration.  The site said there was one, so I downloaded it and installed it and all went well, so far.  I then rebooted my machine.
I then downloaded Lightroom 2.6 again and installed it.  When I tried to run it with all this new stuff installed, same problem.  This is beginning to get a bit more techie than I can deal with.  I do have a disk with the Operating System on it, but I am reluctant to reinstall it (Windows 7) in case something goes wrong.  If it did, then this is just way beyond my technical knowledge and understanding of things to fix if anything that could go wrong, does go wrong.  I have had Dell systems for years and have never, ever had these kind of problems with getting applications, even trial ones, to run.  As far as access privileges, I am the administrator for this machine and I have never been asked for access privileges on any file, folder or other unit, so I will assume (?) that this is not an issue.  If it was, I would have expected it to turn up by now, as I have had this machine for about three months, maybe four.  Ambienttroutmask, I really appreciate all your help and suggestions and thank you very much for them all...
I do not believe that, or fail to understand why, such a high level of technical knowledge should be required to make things like this, that should be simple - download - install - run - test - decide on purchase (or not), to run.  I do believe I am entitled to one year of in-home Dell service, so maybe I will contact Dell Canada and see what this is all about.  Maybe if I could get someone to come have a look, then this can be resolved.
I am now at my proverbial wit's end and have no idea where to go from here.  Ideas?  Thoughts? Anyone?

  • Lightroom 5 problems with Nikon D4 Camera

Lightroom 5 still presents a problem for the Nikon D4. Pictures are rendered significantly darker than the original shot. The histogram confirms the degrading of each picture. And the visual difference is un-mistakable. Have talked with Adobe twice. They had no solution. When I use the Nik Software View 2 the pictures are rendered perfectly. Why does Adobe say they have fixed the problem when they have not? The Adobe web site suggestes Lightroom 5 is now compatible with the Nikon D4.

Yes, you are right. Thank you for the help!

Hi I have been having a problem with Bridge in CS4 recently. So uninstalled CS4 and Lightroom 4.4 and reinstalled them on my Desktop PC. When I turned on Bridge through CS4, My thumb nail images disappeared and a thumb nail icon with CR2 appeared. Now some of my images have disappeared from Light room 4.4, but I can find them in CS4 and Bridge now shows some thumb nails as images and some as an icon with CR2. I have spent two weeks going through preferences etc. to find how to resolve my problem. Please can you Help? Meany thanks in advance

I don't use LR and rarely use the bridge so I can not answers about thumbnails in them,  However thumbnails in windows file explorer and windows dialog for CS2 files will only show if you have installed codec into windows that will produce them. Windows does not do CR2 thumbnails on its own. I use FastPictureViewer Codec package for RAW File and PSD files thunbmail support.

  • Lightroom 4.2 - Experiencing problems with images viewed on 2nd monitor

    Hi All,
This problem seems to have started with my updating from 4.1 to 4.2.  I have my second monitor set as Loupe - Normal and Fit.  As I crop an image on my main monitor, the 2nd monitor view does not always change to the cropped view.  If I switch to a different photo and then back to the one I just cropped, the 2nd monitor view will then show the cropped image, but it is almost always blurry.  Sometimes I can click the image in the 2nd monitor view to change to a 1:1 view and it will look sharp, and then click again back to Fit and then it too will be sharp.  Other times I get a message in the 2nd monitor view that says "no image selected" and bouncing back and forth between a different image will correct this.
This all started off with the majority, but not all cropped images showing as blurred and progressed to what I have described above.  I seriously though I had a focus problem with my camera!
Is anyone else experinecing this since updating?  Suggestions?
Below is the suggested information to provide...
    What version of Lightroom? 4.2
Have you installed the recent updates? Yes, 4.2
What operating system? Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
What kind(s) of image file(s)? All images are converted to .dng upon import
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? No error messages.
What were you doing when the problem occurred? I am in the develop module cropping images etc.
What other software are you running? Silver Efex Pro 2, but I have had that installed in many prior versions of Lightroom
Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed? 32 GB - Yes, I know - overkill...
How much free space is on your system (C:) drive? 119 GB of 223 GB of my solid state drive c:\
Has this ever worked before? Yes
If so, do you recall any changes you made to Lightroom, such as adding Plug-ins, presets, etc.? No other changes other than updating to 4.2
Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers, or installing/uninstalling any programs?  No, no other changes.
    Thanks!

Same problem.   Not a soloution, but this may be relevant.

  • Image printing problem with Photoshop and Lightroom specifically with 11X14 cuts off top of image and moves bottom border up. Windows 7 OS - Epson Printer is working properly.

Have an unprecedented problem with printing 11X14 photos in both PS and Lightroom. The printer is operataing properly. Printing 81/2X11 correctly. Have double and triple checked all the printing settings and they are correct. Have checked with friends to no avail. This problem started yesterday. Widows 7 OS. Need help.

You show the OS receiving an image from Photoshop, and the OS starting the Epson print driver and handing it part of the image, the driver connects to the printer, then the print driver fails. It looks like a bug in the Epson rasterizer, or the printer communication.
You really need to talk to Epson.  Photoshop isn't involved in that error.

  • Problems with running Photoshop CS6 and Bridge with Lightroom 4 also on the same PC

I was running Photoshop and Bridge, then purchased Lightroom 4. Before installingt 4 I had no problems with Bridge, but since installing 4 all of the photo's that were held in bridge are now gone, but they are in Lightroom. With Lightroom, you are able to edit photos out of Lightroom and into Photoshop when necessary, save and close and it automatically changed the Lightroom picture.
I have two PC's, one has Bridge on it (this one) and the other without, but both have both editing prgrams installed. On the other PC I can switch between Lightroom and Photoshop with no problems, but when I try to switch with this PC, the one with Bridge installed, it will open Photoshop, but the photo will not transfer. If I close Photoshop program and go back to Lightroom, it will tell me that the picture could not be transfered to Photoshop because it would not launch. If I close that message window, it will then launch Photoshop and the picture transferes over allowing me to edit and save as normal.
My question is; does anyone know if Lightroom and Bridge should run side by side, or should I delete Bridge from this PC and see what happens. Bridge is just a holder and organizer of photos, wherease Lightroom does the same, but also has post editing capabilities. The two programs seem redundant, but if your running Photoshop, it's hard to get files out of Lightroom. It seems that you need to open Lightroom first, then you can view and chose a photo to work on, then move it back and forth between the two programs. This seems to make Bridge redundant.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Hi, Yes, but that actually wasn't the problem. I start out in Lightroom,
then move to Photoshop if I have something that can't be fixed in
Lightroom. The problem was that when I tried to edit, out of Lightroom and
into Photoshop, I was getting an error message that Lightroom couldn't
prepare files for transfer because Photoshop wouldn't open. But, it had
opened, the picture just wouldn't transfer. If I closed Photoshop,
Lightroom would try again and it would open and transfer the second time. I
ended up going to the Adobe help, chat line, and they looked into my PC and
located the problem, it's now working fine. Thanks to everyone for your
    inputs. Most appreciated.

  • Problem with DNG Color Profiles in Lightroom 5.4

    Hello folks,
I recently updated from LR 5.3 to Lightroom 5.4 and since then I am having problem when using dng color profiles which were created with Colorchecker Passport. Every time I use such a profile which was created for my Nikon D 800 I get very greenish tones in the pictures.
I use Windows 7 Pro on a HP Z 210 Workstation. The monitor is a hardware-calibrated Quato which was recently calibrated.
Does anyone have this problem too and - if yes - know how to fix it?
    Thanks!
    Yours, Albert
PS: As English isn't my mother tongue I apologize for any mistakes in the text above.

    Hello Andrew,
I do have a Nikon D 800 and a Fuji X-E1. I haven's noticed a problem with the Fuji so far. I think I will recalibrate my monitor tomorrow and see if the problem still exists.
I can supply raws and DNG profiles but I don't know where I should upload them - I suggest I could do it on my own webspace. Would that be ok?

  • Problem with "Edit in Photoshop" and Lightroom 2.1 failing to import new file

I am a new user to Lightroom, so I won't be surprised if the problem is at the dull end of the keyboard...
I am working with Lightroom 2.1 (still in my 30-day free trial), Photoshop CS3 with ACR 4.6, on Windows XP (fully updated). My image files are mostly .cr2 files (canon raw).
When I "edit with photoshop" in Lightroom, it fires up Photoshop and brings the file up for edit as expected. Photoshop shows the file name as something like _MG_2326.CR2, as (I presume) expected. When I'm done editing in Photoshop, and I save the file, Lightroom brings up a message "The file could not be imported because it could not be read." and "It may be an incompatible format." on a second line.
If I synchronize the folder in Lightroom it picks up the save file without issue (though its not automatically stacked with the original).
I have tried messing around with the different options in the preferences "external editing" tab -- file format, color space and bit depth (I can't imagine resolution would matter). No joy there.
I have also tried setting photoshop up as the additional external editor and if I do that it works correctly. However, in this case, it makes a copy of the file before opening photoshop which slows things down a little.
Is this a problem that anybody else has seen before? Any solutions or work-arounds?
    Thanks,
    Doug

I'm back trying to sort this problem out (got distracted for a couple of days by trying to get my monitor calibrated).
Rearranging the folder structure didn't help. But I now have a better organized catalog, so that's ok :)
What I did find is that if I import files into lightroom using the "file/import photos from device", then I can edit them normally afterwards (that is, when I save the file in photoshop cs3, the new file gets picked up correctly by lightroom and gets correctly stacked with the original). This is true even if the new files get added into the same directory structure that I'm having troubles with.
So it looks like the directory structure is a red herring. It looks like the problem is in the catalog, with the way that lightroom originally imported my files. I created my original catalog by allowing lightroom to read my elements 6 catalog.
It seems that I have this edit problem with all catalog entries that were imported from elements 6, but I don't have any problem with catalog entries that lightroom brings in directly (either through "import photos from device" or by adding a new folder to the lightroom catalog).
So right now it looks like there is a problem with the elements catalog conversion.
Is this a problem that anybody else has seen? Any suggestions for getting around it?
    Doug

  • Lightroom 4.1 problems with book publishing at Blurb

I've done a travel book using the Lightroom 4.1 bookmaking function with Blurb.  This has been a major headache.  The book is large landscape (13 X 11 inches) with a hardcover image wrap.  It is 124 pages on Proline Pearl Photo paper.  There are 412 images.  Once the book was created I took the time to resize all images to their use in the book to keep the book file to Blurb under the 2 geg limit.  It turned out to be 1.1 geg.
I created  the book in Lightroom without too much trouble.  Replacing each image with the smaller duplicate was a pain.  Unfortunately Blurb can't deal with my Lightroom 4.1 book file.  They've spent a significant amount of time trying to figure out the problem with this book file. With the book completed I tried to upload multiple times.  The images and pages uploaded ok.  It would then stall out and give a server communication error after 3 or 4 hours had passed. There are evidently some problems with Blurb and Norton, so I turned that off, with no success. I exported the book as a pdf file, trying to get around the server upload issues.  Unfortunately the only choice of pdf version in Lightroom is 1.6.  Blurb only works with X-3, so that did not work.
After extensive discussions with Blurb individuals I exported the book as a catalog.  This was sent with the images and the .lrcat file to Blurb's drop box.
The information below is their email back to me after Blurb worked with the Lightroom book file.
    "Thanks for your patience.
I was able to open your book project without any issues in Lightroom - unfortunately, I wasn't able to upload it to your account or even export it as a PDF or JPG. As a matter of fact, you had more success with it, as the files never even went through the render process for me. To troubleshoot this, I tried the following:
    - deleting the cover images/text and choosing a new cover layout.
    - deleting the first half of the book project.
    - deleting the second of the book project.
    - deleting all pages of the book, added 20 blank pages, removed the cover image.
    - renaming the project.
    - duplicating the project, then renaming it.
After each of these, I tried exporting to PDF and uploading to Blurb, but I had no luck. Unfortunately, it seems that your Lightroom book project may have some sort of corruption in it and that your best bet is to contact Lightroom support directly from the link below. They should have more detailed information on helping you with this problem, as Blurb only handles the actual printing of your file.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/imaging/supportinfo/
I'd be interested in hearing what you find out.
I apologize again for the inconvenience."
I appears to me at this point that using Lightroom 4.1 for book production is a lost cause, and it appears to be a Lightroom problem.  Do others have these issues also.  My plan now is to manually redo the book with the resized images using Blurb's own software.  This has been an painful education and my one major disappoinment with Lightroom.
    --Gerry

Just got off Adobe Live Chat.  A quick summary is contact Blurb.  How is that for a run around.  This is a major disappointment with Adobe  support.

  • Printing layout problem with Lightroom CC 2015 Release

    Hello,
I am working with the following configuration :
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)
    OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015 Release
    EPSON Stylus Pro 3880
I tried to print two images on a Super A3 paper sheet with an EPSON Stylus Pro 3880 directly from Lightroom and here is an example of what I expected (I resized and added a black border for better visibility on the forum):
This is the preview I have in the printing module of Lightroom and this is also what I have when I print to a JPEG file with Lightroom.
Sadly, after I launched the printing job, this is what came out of the printer:
As we can see, the layout of the two pictures has been shifted toward the top of the paper sheet (cropping the top of the first image in the process) and about 30% of the right part of the layout has not been printed.
Do you have any idea of what I am doing wrong here?
For your information, I do not print very often so I am not 100% sure that I set everything correctly. However, I have been successfully printing in the past and it was with the same MacBook Pro on the same EPSON Stylus Pro 3880 printer but it was with OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1 and with Lightroom 5.x (I cannot remember exactly which version).
Moreover, because my print was urgent, I retried with a Windows machine running Lightroom 4.x with the same printer and it was a success. So I doubt that my initial settings on my MacBook Pro were wrong although I am not 100% sure.

I am in France and I found out that EPSON is providing at least two different files for its v9.33 driver that relate to the Stylus Pro 3880 with OSX:
    epson16738.dmg: US version (https://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?UseCookie=yes&oid=141552&prodoid =63085147&infoType=Downloads&d…)
epson379436eu.dmg: French version (Support et téléchargements - Epson Stylus Pro 3880 - Epson)
and I realize that I was using the US driver which.
After few minutes of refection, I realized that the 3880 driver that I installed on my MacBook pro was the only piece that was present when my prints failed and absent when my prints succeeded. So I though it had found out the cause of my problems until I tried with the french driver (epson379436eu.dmg)...
In the meantime Adobe has release of new version of lightroom so let me recap my new configuration:
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)
    OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015.0.1 [ 1018573 ] (info available in Help menu > System info > Lightroom version)
    EPSON Stylus Pro 3880
    Epson driver v9.33 epson379436eu.dmg
... and the result of my test is ... nothing at all! Lightroom sends the the print job to the printer but nothing comes out of it.
However, when I printed to a file from lightroom and then tried to print this file with OS X Preview on the Epson 3880, it worked perfectly.
It also worked when I printed from Photoshop CC (2014.2.2).
It also worked when I printed from Lightroom but with a different printed and driver (Canon MF8580Cdw).
Therefore, among the five elements of my configuration cited above, there is none for which the printing job is always failing. It is hard to find out what is the faulty piece of software!
