Purchased this software, but I'm having difficulty retreiving a serial number. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sorry it took so long to get back. I purchased the software at a store. I finally connected to the proper web address that allowed me to retreive the serial number. Earlier, for some odd reason, I was unable to locate the address needed. Jim, thanks for responding.

You would get the redemption code, or perhaps even the serial number, from whomever you purchased the software from, apparently Amazon, so talk to them. This wouldn’t be the first time they’ve sold something that didn’t have all the numbers needed to license it.
A redemption code is something that is usually on the inner disc packaging if you purchase the media in a box, and there is a barcode on the outside of the packaging that must be scanned at the checkout register to activate the hidden inner code so you can redeem it at home on that website. This is what happens if you buy PSE from a brick-and-mortar store like Best Buy. I don’t’ know what happens if you purchase the downloaded version as I have never done that.
A redemption code is 24-digits of letters and numbers that you enter into a website to get a serial number, once and only once. The serial number of only 24-digits, no letters, is what you enter into the software during the install or when you run it and it asks if you want to register or run in a trial mode—whatever the exact phrasing is.
In any case it sounds like you don’t have either a redemption code or serial number—although perhaps something is listed on the purchase confirmation or your account online at Amazon or even in an e-mail from Amazon.

Hi how do I get my redemption code in order to continue using lightroom? I have sined up to the creative cloud monthly and installed lightroom but I have not been emailed any activation codes or anything.

I don't know that you can purchase Adobe software in the US for installing and using outside of the US.

If you are using windows OS, look for file named hosts at below location:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Check if there is anything that is blocking the Adobe CC app to verify your subscription.
Make back up copy of hosts file and delete everything except below contents:

Lightroom 5 redemption code in not working.

I purchased lightroom 5 from best buy. When I was installing it, it kept saying that my redemption code had not been activated. So I went back to best buy, they gave me a whole new lightroom and told me that it should work. It says the same exact thing. It's supposed to be activated once it is scanned at the store, but it failed to do so both times.

You need to use a serial number to install it.
To get the serial number click on the below mentioned link

Enter the redemption code on the above link and then you will get the serial number .

I installed Lightroom 5 onto my computer. Attempted to register by going to the website adobe.com/go/getserial. After entering my redemption code I received a message stating that the redemption code was not valid. I double checked the code before submitting. At this point I need assistance, nothing is working for me.

I am unable to activate Lightroom 5....it WON'T accept the redemption code.

I downloaded Lightroom 5 and when I went into the program it wanted me to activate it. Put in the activation code and all that happens is that a red X shows up. Thanks for the info...........but ended up calling the phone# as if I were buying the software and worked my way to tech support. Short story is that they couldn't get my 'redemption code' to work SO that I could get the 'serial number' either.......but the nice lady worked at it and finally she was able to get the serial number for me.
So now I am up and running.........now need to learn this program.
