Lightroom 5 Stops Working on Exit

Lightroom 5 occasionally crashes when I exit the program.  The window says "Adobe Photoshop Lighroom 64-bit has stopped working"
Problem Event Name:           APPCRASH
Application Name:                 Lightroom.exe
Application Version:              5.0.0.10
Application Timestamp:         51a64dae
Fault Module Name:              gdiplus.dll
Fault Module Version:           6.1.7601.18120
Fault Module Timestamp       515bc240
Exception Code:                    c000005
This happens randomly (occasionally although often) after a short period of time working whether or not I back up the catalog.  It is quite disconcerting as I am paranoid that things may become corrupted.  Thankfully nothing permanently bad has happened.  I have tried optimizing the catalog prior to exiting which has not made a difference.  I am running Windows 7 64-bit with a high end quad core CPU and 8 GB of RAM.  Lightroom is running from a SSD.  This did not happen with LR4.  Any assistance is appreciated.
Regards,
-Mark

See my thread here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1245221
This also only started happening when I moved from LR4 to LR5: I changed nothing else on my system (e.g. drivers). I never actually saw a message about the program having stopped working, and wouldn't even have been aware of this if I didn't keep an eye on the Event Viewer in Win7, but what you report is more or less exactly the same as I and some others have experienced.
Strangely however, after a couple of weeks or so the problem went away, and it's not come back to haunt me for three or four weeks now. I've also subsequently switched over to LR4.2 RC and this hasn't resulted in the problem recurring.

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working error

Updated to latest CC version - everything worked as expected for a couple of days - earlier this afternoon LR started (and continues) to crash. "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working" error - I followed various bits of support instructions - uninstalling - re-installing - signing out and back in - downloaded and engaged "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" - now, several hours later, the problem has not been resolved - I urgently need to get back to my project. Unfortunately, I even followed the thread that instructed to uninstall the previous 5.7.1 version.
Please assist asap - regards Kalli

Did not tinker with any of the setting options in the preference dialog. Just installed and worked successfully for a couple of days using the default settings.
Since the first crash some hours ago, LR has not stayed open making it impossible to try different settings.
The default install provided a fully working app - I tried out the new feature and soon after went back to my project.
Could the fact that I uninstalled the previous - 5.7.? version have anything to do with this?
How can I re-install the previous version at it was stable?
Do any of you have any answers?
And / or do you know how to engage Adobe?
    Thanks - Kalli

  • "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working.

My "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working.  If I hit "Cmd E" in Lightroom, Photoshop opens, but the picture doesn't appear.  I have LR 5 and PS CC 2014.  I recently uninstalled or deleted PS 6 & PS CC (not PS CC 2014).  Any suggestions?

Same problem here. I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 and reinstalled. No change.  I also tried dumping PS preferences
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1  Lightroom is version 5.7  Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
FWIW, I also can't automate>Photomerge ... . Makes me think Photoshop, not Lightroom, is all wacky.

  • Lightroom 5 stops working after trying to email photos within LR and using Outlook 2013

I recently upgraded to Lightroom 5 and was tryinhg to email some photo via the Lightoom Send Email dialog.  My default email is Outlook 2013 and I am using Windows 7 64bit.  When the dialog is filled and send email is selected LR 5  says "Lightroom has stopped working". I think there may be an issue with the email.dll in LR5.  I have seen where others not using Outlook 2013 seems to be having success. Looks like LR5 and Outlook 2013 not playing together nicely.  Any help or getting this issue elevated to Adobe higher support appreciated.

I was able to send emails before.

  • HELP!! Lightroom has stopped working.

Just added serial number to my trial program & it was loading & working just fine for a couple minutes & then all of a sudden it just closed & stopped working. When I go to open it now it says "Lightroom has stopped working" check online or close program, but it doesn't do anything when I go to check online. also when I view program details...it says the even was APPCRASH. Does anyone know what happened. I assume yes, something crashed. But I tried uninstalling & reinstalling & it is still doing it! Can somebody help!!!??? Please?

Open a Windows Explorer, and navigate to the following directory:
    "Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\"
In there, you'll see a file called "Lightroom 3 Preferences.agprefs". Rename this file to "Lightroom 3 Preferences.agprefs.old", then start LR.

  • NB100 touchpad scroll bar stops working after exit full screen mode youtube

I have few Toshiba laptops, satellite, and now netbook100.
All of them share one problem, touchpad scroll bar:
It will stop working after exit full screen mode in youtube.
Here is how to reproduce the incident:
    1. using any mainstream browser, start playing a youtube video, click full screen button at the bottom right corner of the video.
    2. click on the [cross] to exit the full screen mode. (next to full screen button.)
    3. check if you scroll bar still functioning.
    4. a reboot will restore the function.
Currently, Im on vista, I believe in XP you will have the same problem.
Searching in google (touchpad scroll bar stops full screen youtube) will return more people share the same question but no answer.
Environments: win xp all, win vista all.
Windows all most updated driver, touch pad driver up to date.
This is not a major tech problem but for a netbook, this is very annoying.
If anyone have this problem or answers, please share it here.
    Thank you in advance.
    regards.

I had the exact same problem on my laptop and after a lot of searching, I finally found the simplest solution that really works for me so here goes:
Once you exit the full screen video and the scroll pad has stopped working, click once anywhere on the youtube page(just to unfocus from the video) and press the spacebar button on your keyboard twice.
Et voila, your scroll pad should be working again. Beats the hassle of having to log off everytime.
    Hope this helps

I cannot open lightroom "lightroom has stopped working" error message

I'm having what sounds to be the same issue. May I ask what version you were running? I'm using 4.1... And more importantly, have you figured out a solution?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Thanks for not helping... it seems the import works if I minimize the Lightroom-Application-Window while the program is working on it... seems to be kind of strange...

If you have Windows, type Photoshop in the Start menu search box. It should show up.
If it does not, you have to download and install it.

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working

Message appears at start up.  It continues - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  I have not gotten any Windows notifications.  I have reinstalled Lightroom 5.3, which says it will fix problems.  What type of problems cause this and how to fix?

    System problems / drivers...
If Lr used to work, try rolling back your system from a backup.
If not feasible, then try doing hardware checks and updating drivers..
(maybe sneak a peek in the windows event log).
