Lightroom 5 Student Edition Questions

I am university student working on my Graduate degree. I also am a photographer and am looking at purchasing Lightroom 5. I am curious to whether there are any differences between the Full version and the Student version (other than price). If I were to purchase the Student addition will I be limited to how long I will be able to use it? In other words, will the Student edition expire after a certain period of time? Also, is the Student edition eligible for upgrades?

I just purchased the student edition of Lightroom! I am very excited to use it and start creating beautifully edited photos but I'm a little unsure about a few things. It says I have to prove my eligibility to use the student edition which won't be an issue but what is the quickest and easiest way to submit this proof? Also I am concerned that the student edition will be temporary and I will have bought this program only to have it expire at the end of 4 years like some other programs that are student versions. Is the student edition of Lightroom a permanent program that I will have for life or will it deactivate after I graduate?

When I purchased my academic version of Lightroom, it was a package set. Inside was a yellow card with the instructions on how to verify that I qualified for the academic discount. I submitted my academic e-mail address and other info as requested on that yellow card. Within 5 min. I received my serial number. Very straightforward. I had no problems whatsoever.
There is only one version of the Lightroom program itself. The only difference is in the licensing and pricing. If you qualify for the academic discount, by all means use it. You are purchasing the same Lightroom program that anyone else does. It doesn't expire, there are no missing features, and it can be upgraded when new major versions are released. Those upgrades will cost the same as they cost for any other person, regardless of how they purchased Lightroom.
You can confidently move ahead with obtaining your serial number. The only thing you are doing differently is paying a lower initial purchase price because of your academic status.

CS4 Student Edition Questions

Hi, I'm currently a student at Seattle Art Institute and need to get CS4. My question is, if I get CS4 Student Edition is it any different than the regular CS4? Does it not include some things that the other has? Also, when I graduate will I have to upgrade to a regular CS4 in order to do my own personal work or can I just use the Student Edition. And lastly, will I be able to use the Student Edition for internships? Thanks for any help,

I'm aware this post is rather old, but I was curious as to where you got this information? The "US" website does not say that, and I purchased the student version and talked to three different Adobe associates over the phone (including the supervisor) all of which said that here in the US you absolutely can use the Student edition of CS4 for commercial work.
EDIT: never mind I saw your link. You're right about it NOT being able to be used for commercial use in the UK.
I was worried for a second. Here in the USA you can use it for commercial work. Just called and verified the difference on the phone yet again...lol

Lightroom Student Edition License

I've just purchased the Student Edition of Lightroom 3. I know that Lightroom is multi-platform software, but I'm still unsure about the license. I currently have a PC laptop, but am planning to upgrade to a Mac within the next year. Will I be able to use the same license on a new computer?

Another adobe creative suite student edition question

hi,
i recently bought adobe creative suite 4 design premium at the apple education store for 419 dollars (before i realized it was cheaper from adobe). i looked at adobe.com and it says the "student edition" can be used commercially.
my question is: nowhere on the apple store does it say this is the student edition. The packaging says, "for educational individual use only," and was a shrinkwrapped case. i still had to submit my school id for verification for my serial number. i called adobe customer support as well as the apple store and neither seemed to know what i was talking about. is there any way to know whether my edition is the student edition and able to be used for commercial use?

I have spend countless hours waiting for an Adobe Cust Svc Rep to answer my call, (should have reached out sooner) trying to find out if you can use either version for education and commercial use, by either I mean any of the CS4 suites education or academic, (I believe the education version is the $399 one and the academic is the $599 -- it couldn't be any more confusing than it is) -- I was wondering if the statement you made is still correct today (things change so quickly). Student Edition (question/confusion)

I bought the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard Student Edition.
I have already went through the process of verifing that I am a student and got a serial number.
However the serial number that they gave me is invalid. I am in the process of trying to get in contact with Customer Support and already sent in a message to them through the Support Portal online.
I noticed and am very curious - the box that my product came in says "Student Edition" on it. There is a silver "STOP" sticker on the CD case. However the CD case itself, the CDs, and when I use the program on my MAC, it does not say Student Edition anywhere. It is suppose to say Student Edition on everything else??

I finally got in contact with cutomer services.
Long story short: I ended up and am currently in the process of exchanging it for a new set as mine was defected/the wrong language.
And it does not say student liscening on the CDs if that does matter?
Another question, to anyone who knows how student software works: Since I am getting a new set and need to go through the process of verifying that I am student again, are there any restrictions I might run into with a second product under my name? I already sent in a message to Adobe through myidentit-e.com, which I am waiting to hear from. I just want to know if this is an issue, like I am currently thinking, that I defiantly need to clear up before getting the serial number for my new set?

Quick "Photoshop CS4 Student Edition" Question

How many times am I able to download the CS4 Student Edition? If I can recall, I was able to download my old CS3 version twice, but I am having difficulty locating where to find this particular information. Thanks for the response. Much appreciated!

As far as I know, the Student Editions range is no different from any other Adobe downloadable product. In their Online Order FAQ, they write:
"How long will my download be available?
You may return to your Online Store account to resume a download, or re-download your products for 3 years after the day of purchase. If for some reason you are unable to access your account or are unable to find your previously purchased downloads, please contact customer service. Adobe reserves the right to change this policy at any time with or without notice."

That seems to indicate that you're not limited to a number of downloads, but a time in which to download. If you click on the 'Your Account' link at the top of the Adobe site, and then on the 'View Order History' link, you should have a 'Your Downloads' tab that will make all your purchases available to download.
You may find that this varies slightly with volume licensing however. I'm assuming you mean a Student Editions individual purchase, but if you're buying through your university for example, you should check with them. CS4 Student edition question

I am hoping someone here can help me out. I am attending VFS at the moment and even though I get access to all their software and equipment I am looking to get my own version of the production premium package. I was looking through their student packages and saw they had two versions of the same package, the student licensing and the student edition.
What is the difference other then the price? Would I be able to use both for commerical use(Seeing I am in North America?)
JourneyEd also sells the CS4 package, it says the Lic. Type is CLP 4.5 Student Licensing. Again, not sure what this means.

I still haven't found the answer to this. Let me explain it a bit better.
I know the student edition can be used for commercial use in North America and on the adobe site it is $399. Now if I scroll down a bit there is the "student licensing" tab which has the Production Premium package at $299. Is this like what a school that buys for their students or can anyone buy this, and can it be used for commercial use?
Also VFS has a deal with JourneyEd which sells Adobe Products, and their Production Premium package is $379 and it says the Lic. Type is
CLP 4.5 Student Licensing.
If I buy from JourneyEd will that CLP 4.5 lisense or whatever allow me to make profit off my work?

Express 7 Student Edition Question

Hello:
I'm playing around and learning LabView. I bought a copy of LabView 6i
Student Edition and found that it didn't support the advanced data
acquisition instruments (I wanted to used the continuous data
acquisition example and it wouldn't work). Does anyone out there know
if the new Labview 7 Express Student Edition supports all of the
features or if it's somewhat crippled like 6i? Any info would be
greatly appreciated, as I'd like to avoid spending another $70 if it
doesn't.

I believe the Student Edition of 7 is fully functional. It adds a tag in the lower left corner of the windows identifing it as the student edition.
To be sure, you should call NI support and verify.

Ich habe da eine Frage. Und zwar würde ich mir gerne Lightroom 5 in der Student / Teacher Edition kaufen. Allerdings habe ich einen etwas älteren PC mit Windows Vista. Lightroom 4.4 in der Testversion läuft auf dem Rechner einwandfrei. Wollte mir aber in naher Zukunft einen neuen PC kaufen.
Deswegen meine Fragen:
- Kann ich mit der Lizenz für Lightroom 5 auch Lightroom 4 nutzen und
- wenn ja kann ich meine Lizenz auf dem alten PC deaktivieren sobald ich einen neuen PC mit Windows 8 habe und diese dann mit Lightroom 5 nutzen?.
Wollte mir Lightroom 5 unbedingt bald kaufen, da ich nicht mehr lange studiere aber das Geld für einen neuen PC muss ich noch sparen

Adobe Lightroom Photo editing question! Help please

Hey there, I'm trying to find a way to edit a certain part of a picture rather than the whole thing. For instance, if I want to make a small area black and white, while I increase the saturation of another area, and decrease the temperature of another area. How do I go about selecting only part of the picture, edit it, and then revert back to the whole picture and edit another part of the same picture? Please help me. I am using Adobe lightroom.

Is there any way to get a square section and edit it? I watched the movie which was extremely informative but still there was no way demonstrated to edit a particular area besides by using the mouse to just paint over it or drag through a huge section of the picture.
