Lightroom 6 won't import video

While my Lightroom 5.7 works just dandy, I'm having all kinds of problems with Lightroom CC and 6.   I seem to have moved beyond most of the freezing and crashing that is happening upon startup now with Adobe suggested solutions, but I simply can't import video.  The program stalls upon importing the first video, showing no movement in upper left import bar.   Quitting the import renders the software unresponsive.    I've started a new catalog and sucessfully merged my working catalog into my laptop, where the software runs fine.   I however, would like to get back to my main computer, running:
Mac Pro mid 2010
3.33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
32 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Yosemite 10.10.3
I've been exploring my video card as the problem, but don't see a way to update it.    Is this where Adobe makes a patch?

Strange, that some time it worked, but then again errors occurred.
Won't import or play .MOV files.
Just now updated to LR 5.7 and tried again. Same error.
It's saying: " An unknown error has occurred while reading the video file. Connnecting to Dynamic Link server failed. (12)" and nr. (1) also
No matter what camera type... Canon 5dmkII, Nikon aw1, Lumix lx3...all results in same error.
Osx 10.9.5
PS. seems i'm not only person having troubles...

  • IPhoto won't import video from a Samsung HZ15W digital camera.

iPhoto won't import video from a Samsung HZ15W digital camera. What's the easiest way to get the video imported. Also, didn't prior versions of iPhoto accept this format?

As you don't mention the version of iPhoto, I can only guess that you've been caught in the gap between Apple and Samsung. Somethign changed with iPhoto 11 and it's quite rigid about how timecode is handled in video and there's something not quite standard in the Samsung timecode. Google around a bit for more.
And, as Larry say, try iMovie

  • LR5.6 won't import video files

After upgrading from 5.0 to 5.5 & 5.6 LR won't import video files.
Also won't play previously imported video files. Shows only previews.

  • My iPhoto 2 won't import videos from my camera, only photos.

Like the title says, my iPhoto 2 won't import any videos from my Cannon SD1000 digital camera, only photos. A friend says it's because I have an old version of iPhoto, which is true, but when I looked for updates it basically told me I need to purchase a new version of iLife. What can I do about getting a newer version of iPhoto, or making it so it imports videos? It's inconvient using the softwear that came with the camera only for a few videos. Thanks, I could use any help.

    JordanFox,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Your friend is correct; iPhoto 2 does not handle video files. You'll need at least iPhoto 5 to keep videos in your library. There is no other way to get it than to purchase a copy of iLife, either version 5 or version 6. Upgrades from one version to another cost money, updates within a version (ex; 6.0 to 6.0.6) are free downloads from Apple.
Try using Image Capture (in your Applications folder) to upload the video clips to your Mac. You can manage them yourself in your Movies folder.
    Regards.

  • Iphoto won't import video from Canon S5 IS

I bought a new Canon S5 IS camera and took some great pictures and video. The photos will import into iPhoto just fine. The videos imported fine at first (I have a few from the first time I used the camera) but now the videos won't import. In fact, I left the camera on all night "importing" but in the morning the imports had not happened and I had to force quit iPhoto to disengage the process. Is this an iPhoto issue or a Canon issue? Has anyone had this experience as well?

iPhoto does not like importing BIG movies from cameras - use image capture to move them to the desktop and then import them into iPhoto - that works better - go figure

  • IPhoto won't import videos from digital camera or s4

Up until now, I had been able to import videos from both. Now iPhoto won't even ask me to import videos. It just imports the photos.

Do the cameras have the option to record in AVCHD? If so is that what you're recording?  What version of iPhoto are you using?

  • CC Trial version won't import video as layers - "Could not complete your request because..."

I am trying to import a video into Ps CC trial version to make a gif.
Every time I click file > import > video frames to layers, I get the error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error." This is before the window to choose what video I want to import even opens. I have not tweaked the preferences and have only had the program on this computer for a day.
The same thing happens when I open the Timeline view and try to add the video through "Add Media" on there.
I've rebooted several times, updated my operating system, etc etc. Nothing seems to work.
Running OS X 10.9.1, i7 processor (which is 64 bit) on a 2013 MacBook Air.
    Any ideas?

It was already disabled when I checked. I enabled it and tried again, still didn't work. Anything else that might be wrong? i'm getting desperate lol

  • Photoshop CS6 extended won't import videos, help please?

Before I get to the meat and potatoes (details), I'd like to ask that you don't be an @$$ with your answers, please, if my friend is doing something wrong, don't just say "well, derp, you're doing something wrong", actually tell me what he's doing wrong so I can tell him and he can fix the issue. He'd post but he's having internet issues as of 10 minutes ago.
My friend got Photoshop CS6 extended so he could do a few things with his photos, he also wanted to try out some of the stuff with the video editing, and since it's the extended version, it should (at least in theory) import video, right? Wrong, no matter what format he converts to he gets an error telling him he's using the right kind of document. I have seen the photoshop video editor, my friend has seen the video editor, but we can't get it on his copy of photoshop because he can't get a video to import no matter what format he converts to. Is there a way to fix this or has the promise of video editing in the extended version of photoshop just been a lie? I'm confused, please help.
    FORMATS TRIED:
    .3gp
    .3g2
    .avi
    .asf
    .DV
    .mkv
    .mpg (mpeg1 and mpeg2)
    .mp4
    .mov
    .mts
    .m2ts
    .ts
    webM format
    .wmv
NONE OF THESE FORMATS WORK FOR VIDEO EDITING IN PHOTOSHOP CS6 EXTENDED. He can use it for photo but he really wants to try the video editor since he doesn't like movie maker and he can't afford any other video editing software right now.

To see if there is something deeper see if the video plays in Bridge.

  • IMOVIE 08 - Won't import video made from KEYNOTE 08

I have exported my slides made on Keynote 08 in every video codec that imovie supposidly supports, DV, MPEG-4, .MOV and it still wont open it. Thank god that when I downloaded imovie HD 06, that IT is able to open every file that I saved as above. I thought that i could then create the project in 06 and just use imovie 08 to do the editing. -WRONG. It won't open any other project other than its own. This is the WORST piece of software and implementation of an upgrade yet. I called apple support and all they can say right now is, "yes I have tried to reproduce this and you are right, I'll let them know."

I have Exactly the same problem - I've even gone as far as to record the slideshow in Keynote and then try to import it into iMovie. Nothing.
To top it off I have an added problem with Keynote recording - that I can't get it to record my voice PLUS the quicktime playback pauses the image & you have to prompt the quicktime player to advance to the next slide.
Apple; if you read this, I find it amazing that you have just sold me (two updated) packages iLife & iWork which don't work together and don't do what the older versions of these programes did...

  • Lightroom won't import a folder of jpg's

I tried to import a folder of jpgs on my Mac.  It successfully imported about 175 and then just stopped (but I've got about 5,000+ photos).  It will no longer import a single photo.  How do I find the offending photo so I can resume my imports.  I told it to move photos so all photos left in the folder are new to Lightroom.  If I deselect the first photo and try to import the rest.. I get the same problem.  Thanks.

    Thanks Dorin!!
you were correct! I didn't notice the rather hard to see icon on the one image shown which is displayed when a group of images are stacked together.
Simply unstacking the stack resulted in LR displaying all 1000+ images that were in the stack. How they got put into a stack in the first palce remains a mystery.

  • Premiere Pro CC won't import video files

Two days ago I used the free trial of Adobe Premiere Pro CC to make a video. Everything was working fine, and I saved the project so I could work on it again later. Today I tried to open Premiere Pro and it told me that my trial had expired and that I needed to buy it. I bought the monthly plan for Premiere Pro CC and opened up my previous project to continue editing. However, when I opened it, all of the files on the dashboard were red and it says "Media Offline". I tried to locate the media files but then a notification pops up that says "Error Message: Format unsupported or files damaged". The video files I'm trying to use are .mov, so it should be working like it did two days ago. It lets me import pictures, but no video. I could really use some help with this, it's a project for work. Thanks so much

    Hi bschmus12,
Try this, rename the folder where your media is and then try to relink. Does that work for you?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • FCPX won't import video from analog - digital conversion source

Our studio is going through some of our tape library in an effort to archive some of our old footage. We have a Sony Betacam SP deck for playback, and a Pioneer MiniDV/SVHS combo deck with an IEEE-1394 output. We hooked up the Betacam deck to the combo deck through the composite inputs, and the 1394 port to the Mac. When we open the import dialog, we are able to see and hear the video just fine. We click the import button, check the settings, and the import timer in the upper left rolls. However, when we stop the import, no video has been recorded at all. Nearest I can tell, it refuses to record because the DV deck isn't actually running (just passthrough) and therefore no timecode data is running through the firewire. However, when we hook up our camera via firewire, it streams capturable video just fine, even if the camera isn't recording. This setup worked fine on an Edius machine a few months back. Is there a setting in FCP I'm missing?

I understand better now. My FCP X is version 10.0.9. I saw that the latest version on Yosemite is, I think, 10.1.4. Do you know if the new version will work better to solve my problem?
I have an old 2007 Mac Pro 2,1 which would not let me install MacOS X after 10.7. However, recently I was able to buy a Yosemite install system which includes edited parts that makes it installable onto my Mac Pro. I did the installation recently and I have also installed the FCP X. However, I have not yet fully moved to this system disk. I am trying to make sure it will work OK on my Mac Pro before I commit to it.
Another option may be is that I can try is to install the oldest version of FCP X if I can find to see if it will work to archive my Hi8 tapes. My family members are asking me for these, about 15 year old, videos.
Do you know if old iMovie 6 or HD can do archive like FCP X? If they do they may be the best alternative to FCP X archive, if FCP X recognize and use iMovie 6 or HD archives?
If iMovie 6 or HD does not archive like FCP X then I read that there is another problem, the iMovie output is .dv format and needs to be translated to another format to be importable into FCPX. If I use this method I need to find and purchase a good quality video transfer software. However, as you know, every transfer reduces recording quality.
I am also getting lost in video formats. QT 7 producing .mov, iMovie .dv. I think there are several more formats such as .mpg, .m4v, .m2v, etc. Are they all have the same quality for a certain video or their video quality depends on the video format such as the listed, please? If later, which video formats are preferred or recognized for good quality video, please?
I really want to be able to archive right into FCP X, if I can. This is my best solution. I am trying to find out if this can be done. If not possible, any other solution that will capture and import the DV output of GV-D800 into FCP X with the same quality as FCP X will be my second choice. I would appreciate your expertise and advice on these issues, please.
Thank you very much for all your help,
    Tumay

  • I movie won't import video from my sony xr150.  I can see the video in the window when I connect the camera but when I select import, I get the spinning circle of doom.

my brand new mac pro wont download movies on imovie.  I connect my sony XR150 and I can see the clips in the imovie window but when I select import, I get the spinning circle of doom.  Very disappointing.  I just moved from a PC because Mac's were supposed to be much better handling media.

If Image Capture can recognize your camera and allow you to upload the stills and videos to a folder on the Desktop that's what I would do.  Then you can import those files into iPhoto, FCP or iMovie as you want.

  • IPhoto won't import videos from iPhone 6 Plus

I'm trying to import the videos from my iPhone 6 Plus into iPhoto (9.6.1). iPhoto acts like it's about to import but it gets to the end and says it can't import the videos from the iPhone because they are in an unrecognized format (.MOV)
I've never had an issue in the past, any suggestions on how to fix this?
I'm using a brand new iMac with Yosemite (10.10.2) and iPhone 6 Plus.
    Thanks!

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.
