Lightroom and psb files

Could it be possible for future versions of Lightroom to include the facility for reading .psb files as I work with large 360 degrees panoramas, that are created with layers for easy editing of minor errors

Why have all my Lightroom and Photogshop files suddenly developped an awful colour shift when they did not have this a week ago?  I can open them in other applications and they view correctly.  How can I correct this in Lightroom? HELP urgent!!

    Antonia,
Probably your monitor profile is corrupt.
If you're on Windows, see here:
    http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?14070-How-to-assign-an-sRGB-ICC-Profile-to-y our-monitor-%28Windows%29
If you're on a Mac, you'll need to try something similar to set your monitor profile to sRGB. NOTE: this is merely a temporary fix. You need to acquire a hardware calibrator (decent ones can be had for around $100) and calibrate your monitor with it.

  • Lightroom and CR2 Files

I have just downloaded lightroom and it cannot read my CR2 files downloaded from iPad. Any ideas to solve problem appreciated

Is this the process you used?
    "Getting Photos off the iPad
After you have transferred photos to your iPad using the CCK, you may be wondering how you get them back off the iPad.
You do this by connecting the iPad to a computer using the standard sync and charge cable that came with your iPad. When connected this way, the iPad appears as a removable drive in your file browser, just as if you had connected a camera or a card reader.
You can then copy the files over to your computer using the default file manager, or using the import function within your desktop software such as Lightroom or Bridge. The raw files will be just the same as if you can transferred them from your camera or storage card."

  • Mac mini good for photoshop, lightroom and large files?

    Hello all,
My brother finally wants to switch from windows to mac and asked me for advice. He is a young photography professional so his primary need is to run photoshop, lightroom and be able to use large RAW files and 100+ MB photoshop files.
He still has a 27" high resolution screen, so my first option to look at is the Mac Mini with the 2.7 GHz dual core i7, 8GB of ram and the standard 5400 rpm drive (as SSD is too expensive). Is this machine capable of handling the above mentioned things? I think that the processor and memory are more than enough, but i have my doubts about the videocard, since 256 mb of video memory is not that much in these days..
In the future he wants to buy an iMac or Macbook Pro, but for now that's still a little to expensive. Although, if the mac mini is not that good, he has to decide whether to wait a while and then buy an iMac or something.
I hope that anyone can give us some advice:-)
    Kind regards,
    Mark van Dam

Thank you everybody for all the replies!
First off, I think we'll wait what the 11th of june will bring us, hopefully a new mac mini. As Michael Wasley stated, the glossy imac screen isn't going to work for him. So that brings us to a Mac Mini or Macbook Pro. I'm using the macbook pro myself for the last couple of years and i'm a great fan of it's capabilities.. but my brother prefers a fixed 'computer' and not a laptop..
At this point i think he's going to buy (the new?) mac mini (and use his own screen), upgrade the RAM to somewhere between 12-16 GB, possible get a SSD drive and for sure get the biggest i7 processor available.
Hopefully that will get things running.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

  • Is it NAS the solution for a PC and MAC common Lightroom and Photoshop files or Paragon software?

I'm a Pc user willing to by a Mac. Before to do that I need to solve the problem of having to share files stored in to external drivers formated in NTFS. I'm a Lightroom and Photoshop user with various TB photo archibes. I have been suggested to make use of a PARAGON softeware or to use a NAS link to the WiFi router. How would you solve the problem, please?

    Ok.. much more complicated.
There is several things that add to the background of the story.
    1. That you are trying to backup a USB drive drive already.. I strongly recommend CCC to do this.. as you cannot setup a separate task in TM to separate the backups. I can understand not wanting to add another USB and it is older iMac so usb2 only.
    2. Your Express do add complexity.. yes they work better if using the TC..
Will replacing the ASUS with a TC improve my music streaming through the AE's given that it will all be apple then?
More than likely although hard to say.
Is the wireless range of the TC as good as the ASU in your opinion?
No, i have both and the Asus is very good.. but with the Express you can do more than you are doing.
What model Express and what model Asus we need to know to give a straight answer??
    3. I assume that if I simply replace the ASUS with a TC and use same SSID and PW it should be an easy swap since we have many mobile and networked devices in the house?
I strongly recommend you start over with new names..
Problems in wireless networks are common.. and part of the problem is trying to make one wireless router pretend to be another .. you don't fool the clients that rely on MAC address, BSSID not SSID. And you don't fool the main router.. which now is lost as to the clients expecting one MAC address and getting another.
It doesn't take that long.. use a slightly different name but the same password is fine.. I have several wireless routers.. all use the same password but different SSID.

  • Versioning psd and psb files

Is it possible to create a file visioning system (.psd and .psb) with adobe's solutions, out the file itself, to not increase the weight?
    Thanks
    Alban

Keeping Adjustment Layers organized in Layer Groups representing the correction steps should be no problem.
Touch-up, transformations etc. of course can be problematic if the Layer Masks of higher (Adjustment) Layers are affected, but Smart Objects can be useful there.
Basically a stringent non-destructive work-flow offers advantages in my opinion, but there can be a trade-off: the individual files can get considerably larger and therefore saving-times increase considerably.
What are likely edits your customers will request in each round?

  • Lightroom and Raw Files from 60D

So i was looking around the web for answers to why my lightroom isnt recongnizing my raw files from my new 60D. I am currently using Lightroom 3.6 . I saw answers saying that i needed to install updates because if i remember correctly its lightroom 3.2 that the 60D came into play, anyway, i tried to update my lightroom but it says that there are no updates available. So any idea why my its not recognizing the files if i am up to date?

The files may be corrupted or truncated.  Look at their sizes in Windows Explorer - Details View and see if they are smaller than normal.  If you are able to see thumbnails in Windows Explorer then that must means the camera-embedded JPG preview is intact, but not that the raw data is all there.
Try opening the files in Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) that came with your 60D and see if you can save a JPG from them.  Seeing thumbnails in DPP is not enough to confirm corruption.  You have to do something that actually interprets the raw data, like saving a JPG.
Determining why they are corrupted is important.  If they are still on the memory card then retransfer them.   If they are corrupted on the car then the camera or card has a problem.  If they were ok on the card, then maybe the camera or computer or cable or reader has a problem.

  • Lightroom and DNG files

Can Lightroom 1.0 write data to DNG files?

It won't let you write them with a full-size preview though like the DNG Converter will.

  • Lightroom and Audio Files

Does anyone know if Lightroom will play audio files, like PhotoMechanic?
    Thanks!

No it doesn't. Unless you mean in slide shows, which it does.

  • Sorting compressed from uncompressed PSD/PSB files in Bridge/smart collections?

Is there any info (metadata or something) one could use to sort uncompressed from compressed PSD/PSB files in Bridge?
Something that could be used in filters for smart collections would be nice.
    Ty in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply, CP
FYI, the file is a photographic panorama based on several .CR2 photos taken in July, 2012 and processed in CS5's camera RAW/Photoshop.  Beyond the metadata, here are no fonts or text in the file.
    1.  I changed Maximize ...File Capability from "Never" to "Always" and the flattened file saved and loaded OK, though I can't figure why given Adobe's description of this option. "If you work with PSD and PSB files in older versions of Photoshop or applications that don’t support layers, you can add a flattened version of the image to the saved file...".  The file saved in this manner is ~8% larger and is not my preference as a routine since I've TB's of photo files.  By the way, out of thousands of .psd/.psb files, the one being discussed is the first to give me the error.
    2.  I've tried saving/reloading the file on another computer with Win XP Sp3/CS5...again with Maximize Capability OFF.  Same problem.  Turn ON Maximize Capability and it works.  As with the Win 8 machine, Bridge could neither create a thumbnail or read Metadata.
    3.  I've purged the Bridge Cache, made sure there were no old PS page files, reset PS preferences, and disabled my 2 plugins with no change in the problem.  Windows and Adobe progs are all updated.  Saving to a different HDD has no effect.
The problem occurs on 2 computers (Win XP/Win 8), two versioins of Photoshop (CS5/CS6), and "Maximize" On/Off togles the problem.  My guess it is a bug in PSD processing routines.
If I can't find a fix, will keep with Maximize ON and deal with the larger files that result...the cost of insurance, I suppose.
    Thanks again

Lightroom trial doesn't show complete menu selections or import button.  Also get error message on launch:  An error occurred when attempting to change modules.  I am unable to find/see the following file to try renaming the SLCache and SLStore files:  System Library/Application Support/Adobe.  Any ideas?  I only have 16 days left on the trial and have been unable to get it to work on my Macbook Pro.  This is all I am seeing after Lightroom opens.  Thanks!

Thanks to both of you for attempting to help.  I finally figured out what was wrong . . . it was a Permissions problem.  Very frustrating, but after scouring the troubleshooting tips I finally found the one that solved my problem.  I had to add a User and give it Read/Write privileges to Lightroom.  The file I had to add the User to was Hidden on my Mac, so that added an even bigger challenge to the mystery.  Only a few days left on my trial version!  I hope I have time to try it out!

  • I've edited my NEF photos in lightroom and have tried to export to a formatted CD. When I try, I have several issues. I either see in the top left corner that the files are ready to go to CD but there is no further instruction or I get the pop up message

I've edited my NEF photos in lightroom and have tried to export to a formatted CD. When I try, I have several issues. I either see in the top left corner that the files are ready to go to CD but there is no further instruction or I get the pop up message that the files are offline or missing??

Just for background, in what format are you exporting your images?  Also, are you able to export them to your hard drive in your chosen format?  I haven't tried exporting directly to CD, but if you're able to export to hard drive and copy to CD, that may be one solution.

  • Lightroom and corrupted tif files.

    For some reason, now when I right click on tif file in windows I'm getting a pop up box that states;
    Explorer. Tif:corrupt file.
This applies to all tif files on all drives.
I first noticed this with imported to lightroom from raw pef files, processed and then exported from light room.
it also includes files opened from Pentax RAW files, processed with ACR and CS2 then saved as tiffs.
    any ideas?
    Simon.

No. I'm running XP and my files are Pentax PEF raw files and tiffs created from these.
Tiffs opened from a cd are fine - as are tiffs copied to my PC from cds. It's as if windows has decided that there is a problem with all tiffs on the machine.
double clicking them - they open fine in CS2.
If I right click to get the menu - then the error message clicks in.

  • Lightroom 5.4 problem importing older crw and nef files

Built new computer. Fresh install of Photoshop Lightroom 5.4. Imported photos to lightroom 5.4. After import session completed noted some folders in catalog had zero photos. Checked folders in explorer and photos/files are present. Able to open and view photos/files in Photoshop cs5.
Files are raw files format  from canon G1 CRW and Nikon d70 NEF.
Any ideas? How do I proceed? Should I download and install the free Adobe DNG Converter? But these are old cameras?
    thanks

Thanks for the reply. No the files were not list in a LR Catalog anywhere on the computer. I was able to import the missing files by right clicking on the empty folder in the LR Catalog, selected the import to folder option. This opened the import LR Window, I deselected the "duplicate option" . This allowed the files to become visible, not the usual grayed out thumbnails usually seen if attempting to import a duplicate. Once I selected the raw files LR imported them to the folder. I did get a LR message stating that a "smart preview already was present for files.
If LR was able to verify a smart preview for the files from a previous import, why were the folders in LR displaying a 0 for files/photos?
I am in the process of reviewing the LR Catalog to ensure everything was imported.
