Lightroom: Can not exit/switch Full Screen Preview (F Key) mode (LR Mac)

Hello,
since upgrading to LR 5.4 I'm not able to toggle / switch / exit the "F-Mode" (Full-Screen) back to the "G-Mode" (Grid-Mode).
Only restarting works, but that's no way.
I've tried everything which is mentioned in this link: Click but nothing works.
Unfortunately I can not find any DL-Link to a previous version.
ANY (way to solve or DL-Link for 5.x) help is really apreciated!
Thanks a lot!

I have been experiencing the exact same issue. I can only quit lightroom.
I am on a macbook retina with 10.9

    Try F11.

  • How can i have a full screen preview of my photo on second monitor? I mean i want to live broadcast the result without save the file

I want to see the result of my editing on the second monitor for broadcasting

Window > Arrange and right at the bottom New window for (your file name)
You can drag this across to the second monitor, and work on either window.  The results will be reflected in the other window.  You can have each window at different zoom levels, so It's a useful trick for seeing an overall result of making a local edit while zoomed in.
Note: if your dual monitor workspace has panels open on the second screen, they will obscure the new window.  So you would need to change the workspace back to something like Essentials.

  • Creating Link out of Full Screen Preview in Acrobat Pro 8

    Hi,
    Maybe someone can help.
I have created a document in Acrobat Pro 8 that automatically opens in Full Screen Preview for the user. I want to create a button (link) on the title page which will allow the user to go back to normal view. In the links menu you can set to Open Full Screen preview but not get out of it... The only alternative that I have found is to include the copy on the title page "press esc to exit"
Is there any alternative to this????
    Thanks in advance

Not sure why you mention 'preview'..
However, the 'fullscreen' menu item that you can set from a button is a 'toggle', so if you have a fullscreen button on a document that has fullscreen as the open option, clicking the button will take you to normal view.
It isn't essential to use a script: just use a button action for 'execute a menu item' > Window Fullscreen.

  • Can't check photos to import in full screen preview

    Hi All,
Bit of a frusting bug, unless I misunderstand it,  but when I import photos using Aperture from a SD card, I can only do so in the tiled view (max 9 photos to a screen on my 21" Mac)
I'd much prefer to select the files to import in the much larger single photo view so I can see them better before deciding to import.
As in the screenshot above, there is a check box in the single photo preview, to the bottom left, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Only photos checked in the list or tiled view are added to the photos to be imported.
Any ideas why this doesn't work (or what the check box in the single photo preview is for if not this??)
    Thanks in advance.

Just to be clear, it might be easier to screenshot!
I tick the checkbox in the large import preview - notice the import checked remains greyed out - it doesn't recognise it:
If I then go back to the grid view. The photo is still checked, but Aperture still doesn't recognise that it is to be imported:
However, if I stay in the grid view, remove the tick and add it again, Aperture import does recognise it and adds it to the import list. I can now use the import button.
Not the end of the world obviously, but when going through hundreds of photos, it would be very handy to scroll through full screen previews with the arrow keys so I can see them better and check them to be imported as I go.

  • Full screen preview and slideshow are blurry / fuzzy

    Hi folks-
I just upgraded from CS2 to CS4, in part to improve efficiency of selecting photos - I wanted the zoom and loupe features. Unfortunately a very basic function has been compromised and I'm hoping there's a solution: In both full-screen preview and slideshow the full-screen image is notably blurry. This is a problem for two reasons: 1. I can't judge pictures accurately by just flipping through them in full-screen mode (without zooming to 100% to see if they are well-focused). 2. I can't use Slideshow for, well, slideshows. I've had to resort to keeping another app (like Windows Picture Viewer) open just to be able to quickly flip through and evaluate images full-screen or to show slideshows.
I've tried setting all the options related to image quality (they mostly have to do with caching thumbnails and speeding 100% viewing); I've tried purging the cache files. Nothing helps.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

It seems to me that there is something wrong with it.
I am trying Bridge CS4 as a viewer for my JPEG files.
I also noticed that the previews were fuzzy. I activated the high-quality previews as well as the option to generate the previews at screen size.
Here's what I noticed. I went to check out a specific photo that is quite sharp with a number of straight lines, angles, details, where it's very easy to detect a lack of sharpness. That photo immediately looked fuzzy to me, which didn't jive with my memory of it. I quickly opened it in other viewers, which displayed it as intended with all the expected sharpness.
So, I went through the settings to see where the problem could be and I immediately thought of checking the box to get software previews instead of hardware, restarted the app, purged the cache, tried again. There my photo had recovered its sharpness, or at least most of it. I thought I found the culprit, but not quite.
I went to browse other photos and found one in particular with a lot of fine detail (hair) and that photo also didn't display all the sharpness that it should have (I was still using software mode). The difference was very slight and to make sure of it it required A/B comparison between Bridge and PS, but there was a difference.
Now I tried the opposite. I went back to hardware rendering mode, restarted, purged the cache, tried again. That second photo looked alright in preview, but the previous photo looked fuzzy again.
So, it doesn't work the same way for each photo...
What's the main difference between the first photo, obviously fuzzy in hardware mode, and the second one, alright in hardware mode but slightly fuzzier in software? The ratio. The first one is a vertical photo, the second one is horizontal (close to square).
I quickly checked other vertical photos and they showed the same behavior...
Now staying in hardware mode, I noticed something else. When I preview the vertical photo and click on it, or double click, it quickly jumps, switching between 2 versions of the photo: the one displayed originally (fuzzy) and another one, with a very slightly different size, which is sharp. During that manipulation it also briefly displays "100%" at the top of the screen. It doesn't stick when you click and immediately switches back, so it looks like a glitch.
Now in software mode, I tried the same, this time you can click once on the photo (which is originally displayed *almost* sharp). When you click once, it displays "100%" but also displays a very slightly smaller version that is clearly fuzzy. Clicking again goes back to the other, less fuzzy one, but doesn't display "100%" this time.
Doing the same test on horizontal photos shows no change that I can see.
So, it seems to me that in the preview mode, Bridge has trouble displaying some photos (vertical ones?) in their actual resolution (100%)
and since there is a slight resizing going on, it brings fuzziness. This doesn't explain the very slight fuzziness seen on horizontal photos in software mode.
Now I'll mention, for those still awake, that I saw no fuzziness on the same vertical photos when I go to Review Mode with *hardware* rendering. Photos there are sharp. Now if I go to the review mode with software rendering enabled, vertical photos are not 100% sharp (akin to the small difference I mentioned earlier while in software mode), while they are sharper in preview.
To sum up, it seems that the only configuration that gives me consistently 100% sharp (=as they were meant to be after post-processing) photos no matter what their orientation, is when I stay in hardware rendering mode and use the Review Mode, instead of preview.
This all really smells like a bug.
For info, I am using Windows 7 and an ATI HD4850 card, and this only about processed JPEG files, not RAW files.
Perhaps the preview is really meant as a quick preview and not a tool to view final photos at 100% accuracy...

  • Full screen preview drops frames

    Hi all,
A continuation of the thread I opened here (with hardware specs for information):
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/657008?tstart=0
Whilst I resolved the tearing issue secribed in the previous thread I still can't get smooth playback on the third full screen preview display and I'd like some basic advice as to what I could do:
A couple of things I have tried - firstly I tried a basic sequence with a spinning graphic (in order to rule out any issues with disk/network access), and then also tried two screens rather than three (so only one graphic card was in operation), a 60p/30p project with screens set to 60Hz and a 50p/25p project with screens set to 50Hz.
All to no avail - the full screen preview drops frames, especially with 50p content - 25p is better but every 20 seconds or so frames are dropped. Audio is always fine, regardless of the source, BTW.
As a reminder, this is a 12 core i7 with 2 x Quadro FX3800, all unnecessary services disabled, 12Gb RAM, CS5 5.0.3, latest WHQL Nvidia drivers.
Not sure if 5.5 improves this in any regard as I'm still waiting for my licence key.
Video playback outside of premiere is perfect, 1080p50 plays fine full screen on any display through windows media player/VLC.
Any suggestions please - again I wonder if a Blackmagic Intensity or similar would help?
Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Could anybody have a go a reproducing the issue (a simple spinning or sliding jpg demonstates the issue easily and simply)
    Thanks all
    Sacha Goodwin.

There exist no 12 core i7's. The max is hexa-core, but in your previous thread you said Xeon X5670. So what is it?
Well spotted, my bad - it is indeed 2 x hexa-core X5670's - which of course is 12 cores in total.
I still suspect your Editshare NAS.
I'd say unlikely since - we've replaced it with something else, also:
I tried a basic sequence with a spinning graphic (in order to rule out any issues with disk/network access)
and at any rate I tried it as a local project on local disks and it made no difference.
For graphic read plain color matte and basic SD res JPG (same results with either)
What happens when you increase memory to 24 GB?
No idea as I don't have access to any - strikes me as odd though to think anyone would need 24Gb or RAM just to display a rotating still smoothly.
Premiere is showing 300Mb of RAM, total RAM in use when everything is loaded and running is 3Gb, 9Gb free sitting there twiddling it's virtual thumbs.
BTW I should also mention that this happens even on SD projects, not just HD ones. Also watching the task manager shows virtually CPU usage, no disk and no network access during playback (as I would expect). No peaks in any graphs correllating with the dropped frames. Also enabling/disabling MPE Hardware assist makes no difference.

  • Elements 10 organizer Full Screen Previews

Hello, i have a question to ask about the full screen previews of very big photos in size (2mb and above 3000k + res or maybe even smaller) on 15.6 Inch laptop (not quite sure if it is related to my own screen size 1366x768 - i think it's not)
You see, if i go normaly into a folder and start a full screen preview of those same pictures i get them in what i think is a process of puting some AA to the picture so that even on a small screen i don't get the jaggies on the edges and overall bad quality. Quite the irony since the picture is in extremely good quality but viewed on a small res screen. Now i might be wrong about the AA but never mind i think you get the point what im talking about.
The problem is in elements organizer if i enter  the full screen preview big photos have those jaggies and are not applied with the AA i talked about earlier. A Funny thing is that when im not in the full preview the very same photos are in very good quality. Can i transfer that process to the full preview ? I really don't want to view my photos in windows default preview. Also if in full screen i try to zoom those pictures i get some nice choopy slowdowns on my i3-370M 2,4GHz, 4GB ram DDR3 and AMD 6550M HD in Win7 64 bit. Strange since i don't have those in windows default but maybe that related to all the processing you can apply to the picture when viewing it in organizer so it's not a big deal.
To put it simple is there any option so that i can view my albums in organizer (full screen) with the quality of a normal preview. Thanks very much.

Thanks for a quick answer but that doesn't work for me. I see the actual shortcut to the full screen view and edit is F11. I used mouse or a button earlier. If i use F11 on one photo or more it's still the same image quality. I did a little comparision and even in the normal preview there is a difference with the windows normal preview. Let me show you i did 2 screenshoots:
This is the Elements Organizer 10 Preview :
    http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/1997/elementspreview.png
    This is the Windows Preview:
    http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/5016/windowspreview.png
You see how the second picture is more blured than the first one. Now i know that for editing the actual pixels and sharper more crisp image is better, but for viewing (showing albums to my family ) is more better if blured and the picture looks great no matter it's size. Can this be made possible within the Elements Organizer preferences. I did set preview size to maximum which for me is 1280x960 (max allowed). Don't know what else i can do. If at the end it can't be made different, il need to use the default windows
EDIT: i can't embed the images on the forum so up are direct links.

  • Full screen preview in AE CS6

    Hi everyone,
I'm testing the CS6 trial right now before to purchase, and I'm wondering how can I get Full Screen preview on a monitor.
I just swithed to Lion on a Mac Pro, with 2 graphic cards. I have 2 monitors for my user interface, and I have a great third monitor with Color Space management feature. This configuration was working last week with Snow Leopard and CS5.5, but not anymore with Lion and CS6.
    Why?
What I was doing: I was diging into Preferences/Video Preview, I was selecting Computer Monitor Only, and from there, in the Output Mode I was able to select my monitor.
Now when I come here, in CS6, it's grey and I can't select anything there...
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance

May simply be a compatibility issue with whatever graphics card you are using and/or Apple's Cinema Desktop stuff in a more general sense... pöerhaps Dave and Rick can shed some light on this. I'm not a Mac guy, after all...

  • Full screen preview image quality?

I've recently taken up the 'Creative Cloud plan for Photoshop customers' and am getting to grips with Lightroom for the first time; previously I've used CS6 and Elements 9 & 11.
However, I have a problem with the quality of full screen previews of images on my secondary monitor, similar to the problem I encountered with Elements 11, discussed in another thread here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5358611#5358611   (the full screen preview whilst OK was not as sharp with PSE 11 as with PSE 9 due to a different algorhythm used the produce the preview quicker)
I also use FastStone viewer & that too renders the full screen previews much sharper. It seems that with Lightroom too, full screen previews are just not that sharp - OK but not bitingly sharp. I've even noticed that when opening an image for editing in LR, it doesn't look as sharp as if openined in Photoshop CS6 or CC.
Any thoughts folks? Is there a way to make full screen previews sharper? Of course it could be argued i suppose that PSE 9, FastStone & CS over-sharpen... or even that the 'problem' may not be so apparent on another monitor ( I have my full screen previews on a Dell Ultrasharp 20" 1600 x 1200).

    Hi,
The way full screen slideshow is currently implemented Muse is resampling the hero images to the size they are in Design view. For most cases that will work fine, but there's no easy way to force a higher resolution image to be output. The only workaround that comes to mind would be to replace the image after publish/upload/export.
    Hope this helps.

  • Jpeg editing and problem full screen preview

    Hello,
I am editting some jpegs together to music and in order for my photos to stay sharp, in sequence settings i have kept the compressor and pixel aspect ratio the same as the images when i look at them in item properties.
So they are compressed by photo jpeg, square and none field dominance.
The problem is that when i drop new photos into the timeline, they now need to be rendered and im not sure why?
Also, when i full screen preview on my imac monitor, you can hear the audio but cant see any images until you pause the movie and then the place where you have paused is shown.
    Can anyone please help???
    Regards,
    Michael

Hello, i change the compressor from photo jpeg to dv pal as didnt have prores lt.   All frame rates and dimensions are the same but i dont really understand field dominance and what progressive means?
No ProRes? What version are you using? Anyways, using DV might get you some slight problems as it's not exactly square pixels ... but it should be negligible.
Field dominance tells you which field (a "half frame") is displayed first when playing back interlaced media. Interlaced video does not have full frames but each frame is composed of two fields, each of which has half of the horizontal lines of the full frame. DV's field dominance is upper, all the other interlaced formats are lower field first. If you set the field dominance to "none" in FCP you get a progressive sequence, meaning you'll have full frames.
You're saying that you changed to DV PAL ... are you in PAL Land? Also you didn't say what your final output will be ... File based? DVD? Web? If there is only one output you should adjust your sequence settings for that.

  • FR: Full Screen Preview of Multi-Camera Angles

The Program monitor can be viewed in Full Screen mode, as we all know, but when the Program monitor is displaying Multi-camera angles, it can only viewed in windowed mode.  Full Screen mode no longer works in this situation.  This is inconsistent, illogical and unproductive, thus my new FR for Adobe to allow the Program Monitor to be viewed in Full Screen mode, regardless of what it's displaying:
(feel free to copy/paste and send as your own FR here: www.adobe.com/go/wish)
How would you like the feature to work?
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature: Full Screen Preview for Camera Angles
How would you like the feature to work?
The Program and Source Monitors can both be toggled in/out of  Full Screen mode with a single keyboard shortcut, a fantastic feature.  Why then can't the Program Monitor display in Full Screen when it's displaying Camera Angles, either with the Multi-Camera Preview Monitor on or off?  A window that can be viewed in Full Screen should always allow full screen preview, regardless of what it is displaying!
Why is this feature important to you?
Consistency and a logical, productive UI is beneficial to all editors.  The fact that the Program Monitor window can be viewed in Full Screen in one instance but not another, is illogical, inconsistent, and a productivity hindrance that should be fixed.
Ideally, Adobe could give us a separate, Full Screen capable window for displaying Camera Angles.  This way users could display their Camera Angles on one monitor, and their Program Monitor on a second monitor, all in Full Screen mode, without the visual polution of a windowed interface whenever that interface does not contribute to the editing task at hand!  Here is my thread regarding that request: Help Improve Premiere! FR: Separate, maximizable Multi-camera view.  However, should Adobe be unable or unwilling to provide us with the suggested interface that would provide maximum customizability/flexibility, at the very least having the option to view our Program Monitor in Full screen mode when viewing Camera Angles would be useful.

The iSight is either 640x480 (older MBPs) or 1280x1024 (newer MBPs). Displaying it 'full screen' especially in an older MBP (which is what you have if you're posting in the correct forum) would result in a horribly pixelated image, not 'high resolution'. The apps that show the iSight feed are showing it at its native resolution, and that's a limitation of the hardware. If you need higher resolution, you can attach a higher resolution video camera (for example, my Panasonic DV camcorder connects via FireWire and can be used as a webcam).

  • How to choose which monitor displays "full screen preview"

I have a dual monitor setup and have Bridge configurated so that on the left monitor I have the panes "maps", "filter", "keywords" and "content" and on the right monitor (which is a better and callibrated monitor) I have the pane "preview".
Now if I select one or more tumbnails in the "content" pane on the left monitor, they show up in the "preview" pane on the right monitor.
Until recent, when I selected a single tumbnail in the "content" pane (left monitor) it showed up in the "preview" pane (right monitor) and upon hitting the space bar it was shown full screen on the same right monitor and upon left-click on the full screen immage, I got a 100% preview, again still on the right monitor.
Now the problem is that suddenly, upon hitting the space bar, the full screen preview is no longer shown on the right monitor but is shown on the left monitor. (Same problem for the 100% preview).
I hope I made clear of myself and that anyone knows how I can change this back again?

The window was indeed expanded to both monitors and the monitors were aranged correctly but upon your sugestion I temporarely switched everything back to default "one monitor setup" and then back to "two monitor with extended window". I also did a reset of my workspace as sugested.
The result is that everything is back and working as it shood. Problem is solved.
    Thank you very much.

  • Strange image border / bright edges on full screen preview

    Hi,
I'm getting strange image borders on full screen preview. I've taken a photo to show this effect. Its noticebly wider on the left and right edges compared to top and bottom. Anyone know how to turn this border off?
    http://www.oriontransfer.co.nz/Projector/IMG_2307.jpg
I've often noticed it, but its become more of a problem because I've just bought a 720p projector to display some photographs. I think the low resolution exacerbates the problem.
    Regards,
    Samuel

I've added one more image of the top right hand corner. I've boosted the contrast to clearly show the problem. This problem is not just on the projector, it can also be seen on my new MacBook Pro LCD screen.
