Lightroom cant see my folders when importing

When I go to the import dialog in Lightroom 5.3 and I select one of my 3 networked hard drives (hosted on a Mac) I can only see the directory structure of one of my drives in lightroom
my Y: Drive (for videos) shows up properly, but when I select the X: drive (for Photos) it doesnt show any folders. When i use windows explorer I can see the structure just fine.
I have tried selectring. include subfolders.. makes no difference
I cant also see in the destination, area the folder listing
why cant it see the folders?
all three network drives are formated the same way, hosted on the same machine
If i click on the arrow button point right and select other source I can navigate in the popup window to the proper drive / folder
but why wont it should up in this winddow

Yep, networked drives on a Mac are reported as a problem regularly here in these forums. I don't know the answer, as I don't do that, but you should feel free to search the forum.
By the way, no one from Adobe is here, we are just users not Adobe employees.

Ans: Prior to version 1.3 Lightroom did not support 1:1 preview rendering during import, the actual options for Initial Previews being: Embedded or Standard. However, more recent versions allow four types of previews to be rendered during import (i.e. Minimal, Embedded & Sidecar, Standard,and 1:1). It's also worth noting the following on Lightroom import behaviour:
1. Minimal (Lightroom default) or Embedded & Sidecar is by far the quickest method for getting your photos into the Lightroom catalog. However, the lack of Standard, which is the minimum that Lightroom can actually work with, means that the application will render standard-sized on demand (i.e. as thumbs/photos become visible within the photo Content area). Asking Lightroom to undertake this task at the same time as you're trying to use the application will result in sub optimal performance.
2. Importing your photos with the Standard preview selected within the Import dialog will take longer than 1 above, but on completion Lightroom will already have previews that match the minimum requirement for working in the Library. Assuming that you won't be looking at every image at 100% (i.e 1:1) then this preview size will allow you to quickly review, rate, label, even make quick colour/tone adjustments, etc the photos within the Library module. If you need to see a photo at 100% then Lightroom will render that preview on demand (while it's being rendered you'll see the "Rendering Preview" overlay appear at bottom of preview). Note that when using a 23" or larger monitor it to is best to set the Standard sized previews so that they are rendered at 2048 pixels
3. Importing your photos with the 1:1 preview size selected will result in Lightroom taking even longer to complete the import process than would have been the case if standard-sized had been chosen. 1:1 previews also take up significantly more disk space than standard-sized.
If you're not going to be working on the photos immediately after import but do need to get them into Lightroom as quickly as possible, then the best option would be to choose import option 1. Once the photos have been imported choose either Render Standard-sized Previews or Render 1:1 previews from Library module Library>Previews menu.

When I search these forums for "CFCopyFormattingDescription", I find a bunch of crash reports posted that look almost exactly the same as mine. It appears there's a bug in iPhoto, perhaps when reading metadata from the JPG file (readRawTiffPropsFromPath).
Interestingly, the Preview app can open and display the file just fine. I even opened the inspector and it showed all of the TIFF and exif metadata just fine, no crash. The file also opens just fine on Windows.
Now how do we get the attention of the iPhoto development team so I can send them the photos, have them reproduce the crash, and fix it?

Can I force iTunes NOT to create artist/album folders when importing?

I've unchecked the "Let iTunes organize your music" box. All I want is to have iTunes rip the song, and place the song (unburdened by artist and album folders) in an external hard drive.
I can't seem to make that happen - can iTunes do it? If not, any Mac-based program you can recommend?

Can't see image folders to import into LR

Apologies in advance for any duplication, I originally posted this incorrectly.
I can import photos directly from a card via the card reader on my MacBook Pro (OS Mavericks) but I prefer to organise my folder structure and import the images into a folder on the HDD first and then from there import them into Lightroom. Everything worked fine up until upgrading from LR5.2 to 5.3 a few weeks ago. I can see the folders (and images) in the Mac's Finder. However in LR, the folders with the new (as yet not imported images) do not show AT ALL when I try to import the new images (all other folders on the HDD are visible in LR).

Please be more specific.
Are you looking in the Import dialog box, on the left hand side, in the Source panel? Or are you looking in the Library Module, on the left hand side, in the Folders panel? Or are you looking somewhere else?

BBM version 6.1.0.49 - my bbm contacts cant see my Dp when i change it (Bold 9900 )

I just bought my blackberry a few days go and I can’t see the display image of BBM contacts and they also cant see mine.
The only time I could see their display image is when they change it.
I tried changing my and they still can’t see it.
I have tried the following
1.       Updated OS to version 7.0.0 bundle 2406
2.       Updated BBM to v6.1.0.49
3.       Registered by BBM via the HRT
Go to Options
Select the Advance Options
Select Host Routing Table
Choose the “BOLD” point
Press your BB menu
Select Register Now
Then it would be showing some message, “Your Handheld registered with the wireless network..”
Restart your BlackBerry devices.
4.       Rebooted & Restarted after each update
5.       Removed the battery and restarted
6. Used Desktop manager to delete and reinstall BBM
7. Downgraded BBM version from 6.1.0.49 to 6.0.032 to 6.0.0.25
8. Downgraded OS system from Version 7 latest to the version 7 before it
9. Deleted and reinstalled app world
10. in fact i have done everything i can possibly think of and still have the same problem and result
At first I thought this would be ok after adding several BBM contacts, but I have added up to 10 contacts today and still cant see their display image and they too cant see mine.
I would really appreciate assistance on this.

Multiple issues with See Also controls when importing topics (RoboHelp 9)

I was wondering if anyone has found workarounds to a very flaky area of RoboHelp...
Suppose you create several topics A, B, C and D, each with a See Also control in it. Let's suppose all the topics are assigned to the same See Also keyword, say 'Alphabet'. At a later date you create a new project, and need to import your old topics. The following problems arise:
1) When the topics are imported, RoboHelp does not recreate the 'Alphabet' See Also keyword in the See Also pod. However, the See Also functionality works (sort of) when the project is built. It is not possible to manually add the 'Alphabet' keyword in the See Also pod, because RoboHelp tells you it already exists! The result is an invisible 'Alphabet' See Also keyword, to which you cannot add further topics. As a workaround, I found it is essential to manually add the 'Alphabet' See Also keyword BEFORE importing the topics, and RoboHelp will then correctly assign A, B, C and D to it. However, this can be very awkward if you have hundreds of topics to import and are not sure what See Also keywords the topics reference.
2) When the topics are imported and the project is built, the See Also control does not work as expected. In RoboHelp, right-clicking the See Also control and choosing See Also [] Properties... reveals that the options you previously set, such as 'Popup menu' or "If no topics are associated with any of the See Also keywords..." have been lost! So all those nasty Topics Found dialogs return when you build the help (instead of popups). If you have a See Also control placed in every topic for consistency, it will never grey out if the topic doesn't belong to any See Also keywords.
3) When the topics are imported and the project is built, the current topic's name appears in its own list of See Also topics, i.e. it self-references. So for example, if you are viewing topic A and click the See Also link, topics A, B, C and D are listed, instead of just B, C and D. However, when you create new See Also keywords in RoboHelp, assign topics, and build the help, they work correctly and do not show the calling topic's name.
I spent hours analysing the HTML code of files I am importing, and the code of brand new topics created in RoboHelp, and I can see no obvious differences apart from some -1/0/1 flags in the green Metadata section preceding the SeeAlso code. I even tried changing these flags in my import files to exactly match the flags of new topics that RoboHelp just built, but when importing they still don't work. Clearly RoboHelp stores crucial See Also information elsewhere in the project, but does not make this reliably transportable by adding it to the HTM files that it builds, despite the huge Metadata comment block.
Adobe needs to put a lot of work into making it possible to cleanly re-use files as content re-use is a very common, and often critical, requirement.

After reading your post, I come away being unsure about your goal. Is the goal here to simply advise others as to what they may encounter using the See Also functionality? Or is your goal to advise Adobe about what you would like to see changed?
If your goal is to advise Adobe about what you would like to see changed, you need to visit the Wish Form at www.adobe.com/go/wish and file an official request. Otherwise, it just gives you a nice warm glow that you had your say here. But it won't have much of any effect on the product.
As far as any workarounds, I might suggest the following. You seem to be regularly creating a new projects and importing content. And if that's the case, I might suggest you create a template project that would already have these things in place so that as you add content, the expected keywords and links and whatnot are already in place. My thought is that this action would ease much of the frustration you are facing.

Unable to see preview thumbnails when importing from D700

Having read the reports of problems with the D700, RAW image quality and Aperture 2, I seem to have a different problem!
When I go to the import page in Aperture 2.1.1 (with the D700 connected via USB), I can see no preview images - I get the dashed boxes though and when I click on one of those boxes, the data information changes with each picture (ie date/time etc). Any ideas how I might sort this out??
On the quality side, I seem to be having no major problems - there are obviously differences between Aperture and Nikon's Transfer and View software, but nothing serious at all.

Lightroom 2.2 freezes up when importing phtotos from my g10

I got a g10 a few weeks ago and have been anxiously awaiting the 2.2 upgrade.
installed the upgrade to LR 2.2 last night, seems to go fine, When i put my card from g10 in my computer and push import, LR room freezes up to the point of being unreponsive?
what would cause this?
what can i do to fix it? I have ps cs3, would that be the problem?

It's a .dat file. "Roaming" is the AppData subfolder on Vista that has among other files my Lightroom Prefs, Bibble cache and a CameraRaw/CameraProfiles folder with the .dat file.
This may be a WAG, but I wonder if deleting the contents of both of these files may be necessary for a re-install to fix the problem.

Lightroom 3.6.1 crashes when importing

I am running Windows7 Professional 64 bit service pack 1, and LR 3.6.1
LR crashes when I import photos.
Have uninstalled and deleted the Lightroom folder in C:\Users\nameduser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
Then reinstalled Lightroom 3.6.1, only to crash again. And again.
I can revert to a previous version, but is there a fix?

Here is the sequence when 3.6 crashes. On opening the program all the dropdown menus are visible. I can work with older images.
However, I want to download images from my camera. As soon as I click "import" or go to menu File-import photos the software goes a light grey and I get a Windows alert the Lightroom 64 bit program has stopped running.
BTW I just dowloaded release candidate 4.4 and the same thing happens.

Itunes 7 bug? Cant see movie trailer when I select it to watch...

I can hear the trailer, but the video will not play. A quick workaround that seems to do the trick is to close itunes and then quickly reopen...then you can see it. Anybody else have this?
Dual 2.0 g5 Mac OS X (10.4.3)

So, for some reason, my trailers are working now. The only things that I did (that I can think of) were to set my display colors to millions in the system preferences (some program must've change it to thousands), and to install Frontrow on my non-supported Mac (see http://andrewescobar.com/frontrow & http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060914143809330). Frontrow can actually show you movie trailers (like in the theater type at quicktime.com), so I don't know if this changed anything. Can anyone else see trailers now in iTunes 7 after doing this?
Oh, by the way, if you use the workaround of closing and opening a new iTunes window, when it first starts playing, click on the box where the trailer is supposed to be, and the trailer will pause. Close the iTunes window, open a new one, and then double click on the box again to start the trailer.

It sounds like your iPhone is no longer recognized in iTunes when you plug it in. I recommend the steps from the following article to help troubleshoot what you are seeing:

1. Update iTunes
2. Check the USB cable

I cant see my pics when published

I can edit them on iweb but when i publish it or try to view i none of the imported pictures can be seen on photo page or text page..
Any thoughts?

All the photos on your site are loading for me, albeit slowly. You might consider putting fewer photos per page to make each page load more quickly. Another note: If you set the audio tracks to a low volume like shown in the screenshot below in iWeb and then republish it will avoid surprising/blasting a visitor who might have their computer's volume turned up for some other reason. It can be a jolt. They can always turn it up to suit their preference.

How to get multilevel folders when importing FM doc

I think I might just be overlooking a setting somewhere, but
when I add a FM doc by reference to RH7 (in the TechCommSuite) the
book comes in with a folder for each chapter and all of the lopics
listed at the same level. Is there a way to have the chapters
divided into the sections they were originally created in FM?
I have mapped the Heading 1-3 styles from FM to the Heading
1-3 styles in RH, but it still seems to create all topics at an
equal level. This also impacts the auto-generated TOC which ends up
looking like a long list of topics in random order.

It works the same way for me. I don't see any applicable
settings anywhere. When autogenerating the TOC, it appears to put
the topics in alphabetical order, rather than the order that they
are in the FM document.

New install cant 'see' infoview etc when Tomcat starts as a windows service

Help, we are a new site trying to install BOXI R2 SP2 on a windows server. We have installed as per all instructions including Tomcat but when we try to 'use' Infoview we get a blank page. If we stop Tomcat and restart it via the command prompt we can use Infoview but we need to have this working as a windows service. We have tried re-installing several times and always get the same result. does anyone have any ideas as to what we have done wrong please.

Running tomcat as a service may be running under a different user context than when running it via the command prompt. This may be causing your issue.
