Lightroom CC crop bug?

I downloaded the new lightroom yesterday and if i crop and rotate an image it will jiggle and bug out and freeze for a few seconds before it stops and works. anyone else having this problem? it is driving me crazy.

Okay, guys.  This has to be fixable.  When I downloaded the new LR CC I had the super jiggly crop tool issue.  It drove me crazy.  I have now got it fixed and here are my specs:
MacBook Pro - Yosemite v 10.10.3
There was a new update to Yosemite for the Pro Video Formats v 2.0.1
I downloaded it 5 or 6 times and it wouldn't update.  It kept stalling out.   FINALLY I got it to install.
After that, my LR CC seemed to be working.
In addition, I quite LR.  I quit everything on my MacBook.
I restarted the MacBook. and even unplugged it and replugged it in before restarting.
After I was sure the update to Yosemite installed, I restarted again.
Somewhere in that mix, the LR CC crop tool started to work.  I have no troubles with it at all now!  The leveling tool is also solid.
I have no idea why, but it works just fine now.
I'm sure that you have all tried all of these steps, but somehow, mine started working after all the stops, starts, unplugs, and restarts.
Keep trying.  I don't know when Adobe will fix this, but the fact is, that this thing got resolved after I did a bunch of starts and stops.  I know this isn't very helpful . . . .but if it works for one person, maybe this is worth posting.

  • Lightroom v3 Crop Bug?

I've created a 16x20 crop aspect via the Develop / Crop & Straighten tools as I did in LR v2.   However, when I move the 16x20 crop overlay, up or down for example, it changes it to the 4 x 5 / 8 x 10 crop aspect.   I'm not even changing the size of the crop, just adjusting the location of the crop overlay.    Any ideas why the aspect would be changing?   This is new as I did not have this problem in LRv2.

    Jonathon LeFaive wrote:
In LR, you set the image size on export. Crop just does aspect ratios.
Yes...think of "aspect ratio" as "shape" and export is where you set the "size" of that "shape".

  • Camera edit won't crop bug

what is the fix for the now infamous CROP bug on iPhone photos? the crop simply doesn't work correctly anymore on iOS 8. I'm an artist and photoshop expert who takes 1000 shots a month. I mostly save abstract artworks to the camera roll not pretty lake horizon shots so I'm not at all interested in the iOS 8 -helping me- crop my pic . when I try to use the crop it zooms the photo OUT and then when I crop the handles based on the picture shown it crops off the right and bottom sides of 70% of my photo so I'm left with only the zoomed in and pixelated top left corner of my original picture, first what's with not allowing top left drag crop? (I've read it crops from center now? Stupid since mostly I want to chop off frames and floors from the photos of paintings) and secondly how Apple has fixed this ZOOM And CROP problem? not a single photo or saved pic from email that I've tried will actually crop.

The problem may lie in the fact that you have chosen the setting "Automatically open JPGs with Settings".
What this means is that Camera Raw is to open only JPEG files that have previously been opened with Camera Raw, and thus ALREADY have settings embedded i them as metadata.
You might want to try the "open all" setting (I forget the exact name of the setting).

When I try and use the Lightroom CC crop overlay tool I get what seems to be a rendering failure that shows as a blue box with a white cross. See attached.

  • Lightroom Photo Border Bug ?

I have an issue where my Lightroom seems to display images correctly but once it sends them to the printer they get cropped differently. I did some digging around with the numbers and came to the conclusion that this is probably a bug or a feature that is implemented backwards. Basically what seems to create the problem is the "Photo Border" feature. When you add a border the image in Lightroom gets scaled down to compensate and that is what Lightroom displays. When printing however, the image is scaled back up to the size of the frame and the border is now masking it. Here are some images to demonstrate this:
    The original Image:
The way Lightroom displays it when the border is added:
    The way Lightroom prints it:
What actually goes on (masking instead of scaling to compensate for the border):
Has anyone else run into this or can confirm that they get the same behaviour on their end ?

I'm not in front of my lightroom machine right now to check, but I would expect the display of the software to indicate what will actually be printed. The image is scaled down to conpensate for the border as far as the lightroom display goes, but it's not what the pdf preview before printing or the actual print reflects.

  • Is there a workaround for the transform/crop bug?

    Happy Tuesday!
Does anyone know a way to get around this bug?
    - I have two video clips.
    - One video clip (on top) is a talking head that need to be placed in a box on the other clip.
    - Apply transform to talking head clip.  Scale and change position.
    - Apply crop to talking head clip. Bring in left and right so image fits in the box.
    Everything is good so far...
    - Apply same transform and crop to other talking head clips in same project.
    - Crop fails terribly for second and all subsequent attempts. It seems like there is a magic area for which the clip cannot render.
    The first transform/crop works fine...
All subsequent transform/crops, either mannually applied or from copied attributes, do this:  (The collection of icons are inside the box and is showing through from the bottom clip.)
If I drag the image around the screen, there seems to be a "magic area." If the image is in the magic area, everything is fine.  If the image approached any edge of the screen, the bad crop effect happens. Here I have dragged the transform near the bottom left corner of the screen:
I have played with crop settings and the way the crop jumps, there seems to be some kind of logic bug in the cropping code, particularly with transform/crop combinations.  Any help would be appreciated!  This bug is a show-stopper, and I'm on a fairly tight schedule.  Does anyone know of a way to get around this bug?
    Tom

I guess, I'm of no help here.. I can crop and transform like crazy - no issues
I also tried your 'special' method, to crop/transform the main storyline (=what I wouldn't do)  ...  but the attached other clips appear without problems:
and after that 'arrangement', another one - no issues:

here you lost me - in translation, sorry:
    a clip OUTside its crop??
outside a crop is nothing, that's what a crop is for… shouldn't it?
cropping means; cutting-off parts of the pic, that icon is a passépartout..
so, outside a crop is … nothing to see here, Sir..
Sorry, of being no help here......

  • Lightroom Mobile Crop Results in Black Screens

I have been successfully using LR Mobile to quickly crop about 1,600 Canon RAW images. Part way through this effort, the cropped images start showing up as black screens. I can three finger tap and get the correctly cropped image to show up, but if I move to a different picture and come back to the cropped picture, the black screen is back.
The images show up correctly cropped in the thumbnails.
Syncing is working fine to my desktop and the image is correctly cropped on my desktop as well.
Other smaller collections do not experience this behavior.

I can duplicate this behavior on OS X 10.10.3.  After the screen goes black after hitting return the L key cycles through the image, gray screen, and black screen with the image also gray and black.  If i hit the right and left arrows to go to a different image and then back to the same image than the L key works as it is supposed to.  Definitely a BUG.

  • Lightroom 5.5 bug won't remove over 1000 Canon CR2 photographs

Hi, don't know how to report a bug, but I have one. Just moved over 4000 CR2 files to a new folder so that I could re import them as DNG files. They moved, but I can't remove anything more than 1000 files at a time from the catalogue. Even if it's 1001, it will fail. If it's exactly 1000 it will remove the files. Same for any number right down to 1.
No idea how I'm supposed to report this, which in itself doesn't bode well....

  • Aperture 2.1 crop bug? Feature?

I'm going nuts with something that is either a bug or a really annoying feature.
When trying to crop an image, I may select the 8 x 10 aspect ratio and draw a crop frame on the image. However, if I try to select of the corner anchors for the first time to resize it and move it at all, the aspect ratio of the crop immediately jumps to the image's current aspect ratio and the crop heads-up display now reads "Custom."
Am I doing something wrong? Is this a bug or is this somehow supposed to be how it works? Can't find anything in the manual on it suggesting it is supposed to do this.
    Thanks.
    Matt

Was doing a search for something else and stumbled across your Crop issue.
I am having the same issue. Another issue I get quite often is a change in the Width and Height boxes. If I choose 3x4 and drag an anchor point, the size changes to 128x85 or some other random numbers, (not same aspect ratio and is this inches or pixels?). So I go and change it back. This happens with all sizes (2x3, 4x5, etc.).
Anyway, sorry I can't help you, I just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one out there with this issue. I was hoping that there was an answer to this. Alas no, just a, "mine works fine", in your face answer.
Also, my files are not on a network drive or firewire or USB. I back up to an external drive but I put my library on an internal drive. I have also reinstalled Aperture to see if this might fix things. Good Luck,
    Narvon

  • Lightroom 5.2 bugs

I am infuriated that Adobe would sell a product with so many bugs. I've created a running list as I can't invest critical work time in finding resolutions one-by-one.

Undo (ctrl+z) stops working and it applies a random preset; viewing menu Edit -> Undo shows it's checked but doesn't match behavior. Have to exit LR and restart it. Also in LR4.
Develop Module -> selected image being edited is not the one showing in Navigator; have to click thumbnail in bottom strip to get it to match the image being worked on.
Develop Module -> selection info errors: image info/image selected is … 1551-E.PSD, toolbar at bottom says 1 selected / …1490.NEF and, image showing in Navigator is a completely different image altogether.
Auto-advance randomly keeps turning itself on after turning it off
Spot Removal Heal/Clone doesn't always work, will not remove spot. Even at 100% opacity it will leave a 'ghost' of the area to be removed.
Keywords: Removing a keyword = ERROR (used Purge Unused Keywords to delete) - "Unexpected Error performing command: performCommandDesc ..."
Adjustment Brush Flow - I keep brush A flow set to 100 and it randomly sets itself to 10
Mask Overlay is OFF yet it still shows the overlay, have to check and uncheck the box or deselect the brush

Well written but this is a user to user forum. Bugs need to be reported here. Please do.

  • Cropping bug: part of image goes black

A strange problem which cropped up after installing 3.2, and remains after re-installing 3.2.
When I go to crop a vertical image, the top 1/3 of the image goes black.  I can still select what I want (guessing for the border in the black part) and, when I complete the crop, I get the whole image I want, with no black.
Interestingly, if I rotate the vertical to horizontal, I can crop with no black part.  So I can use that to crop, and then rotate back to vertical.  But there's clearly a bug here.
    Any suggestions?

You are probably experiencing the crop and or onscreen proofing bug that was introduced with AP 3.2 update. It is summarized well in the posts on this page:
    http://www.apertureexpert.com/
We need to wait for Apple to fix this one (or you can look at some of the other posts in this forum for reverting back to 3.1.3 until the fix is issued).

  • Lightroom to photoshop bug

Hi, the "edit in photoshop" from lightroom function is not workin. ps cc 2014 is starting but not opening the foto. i tried everything several times: deinstalling / installing with removing the prefs. repaired all user privileges. it's so frustrating. one month ago, revel was down for almost 4 weeks because of the ios bug. and now this. what's going on at adobe? any help appreciated. best regards, Arne

    Hi,
    Adding to ssprengel's correct answer:
    Getting the update:
Look for the update in the Creative Cloud application and click “Update”. If it doesn’t appear, you may need to quit and re-launch the Creative Cloud application.
If you don’t have the Creative Cloud application running, start Photoshop and choose Help > Updates.
The Adobe Application Manager will launch. Select Adobe Photoshop CC (2014) and choose Update.
    Confirming the update worked:
In Photoshop, choose Help > About Photoshop (Win), or Photoshop > About Photoshop (Mac)
The version at the top should say 2014.1.0 Release
For background, Ps 2014.0 introduced a bug that caused some cross application communication to breakdown. We have fixed this in the 2014.1 (aka 15.1) release just recently published.
    Sorry for the trouble.
    regards,
    steve

  • Lightroom and cropping - how accurate is it?

Has anyone noticed the in accuracy of the cropping in Lightroom (beta 4.1)????
I'm not sure if its just me but if you crop an image in lightroom, for example, custom size, 8 x 6 (I assume its inches), and then export the image to a given resolution (my labs require 304 dpi), then open in Photoshop and check the image size, its actually slightly larger than 8 x 6 inches (more like 8.2 x 6.15 inches) !!!!???
Is this a know problem that will be sorted in v1 or thinking about it, should the export resolution be 300 dpi thus the extra 4 dpi might be causing the oversized crops??? or am I just missing something simple here!?
BTW, Lightroom rocks - 2 weeks to go, can't wait...
    Stewart

    Stewart,
I hope that you won't be insulted if I suggest that your screen resolution set in Photoshop may be wrong. I think it defaults to 72 ppi but I have to set mine to 80 ppi to get the correct print size.
Quick way to check is call up the rulers on to an image and compare them to a real ruler held up to the screen.
