Lightroom CC has stopped working ...

Hello, I upgraded lr 5.7.1 to Lr CC (via Creative Cloud) but when Lr CC lauches to upgrade the catalog I have a pop up : Lightroom has stopped working". What could be the problem ??? Many thanks

I have had the exact same problem and managed to get hold of a chat support person to check it out. I run LR on a Toshiba Laptop with windows 7 with SP 1. After a 1 hour wait for chat and about 1 hour of the guy taking over my machine, it transpires the reason that Lightroom  hangs after catalog upgrade is that the graphics drivers on the Laptop are not compatible with Lightroom 6, Solution is upgrade drivers, I have therefore cancelled my CC subscription which I took out only 2 days ago, i have managed to get it cancelled. Also there are no updatede drivers for my laptop which essentially means Lightroom 6 is not supported on this particular laptop. I am going to stay on Lightroom 5.7 until I decide to buy a new laptop or mac. Eh oh, this has been a waste of a weekend but I hope that this solution helps. To check if this problem is related to your upgrade, check the windows event viewer when the app hangs and see if there is a problem with the aticfx64.dll if there is then you need to upgrade the drivers, if they exist !

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

  • Lightroom 3 has stopped working

I can't get the program to even open any more. I tried upgrading to 3.6 (I think I was using 3.3), but it still won't open. Is LR3 no longer compatible with my Mac operating system (10.6.8)?

It may be that my version of LR is too old (as the OS is updated)
No, that's not the reason. Your updated OS will work with Lr3. The problem lies somewhere else.
How long did you wait when you saw "Lightroom not responding" before force-quitting?
It can happen that Lr needs quite a while, particularly after you had problems.
You should at least wait 10 min.
But if that doesn't help I would suggest a 2-step process:
    1) Replace the Preference File.
This file can go "funny" and is then responsible for all kinds of strange behavior of Lr. The remedy is replacing the Preference File.
BTW: Re-installing Lr does not replace the Pref. File since it is designed to "survive" updates and upgrades of Lr.
See here for where to find the Preference file for your OS: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroo m-4.html
See here for how to go about Replacing the Preference File: http://lightroomers.com/replacing-the-lightroom-preference-file/745/
    2) If that doesn't help: Re-install Lr.
Un-install it with your OS and re-install Lr 3.6.

  • For some reason Lightroom 2 has stopped working correctly.

As of this morning I can't even select all and export files to my laptop any more.
Prior to this I was having problems with selecting all and adding a label. Even though all pics were highlighted, only the first file updates and I need to individually update the label on each file, even though they are all highlighted. I'm very busy and this is very frustrating - is there an update to correct this?

That was a problem with exporting to my desktop, not my laptop

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working [Lightroom 5 Beta]

I was looking for a Lightroom 5 Beta forum but am unable to find one.  Today, I downloaded and installed LR5 Beta on my new HP Envy 64-bit Windows 8 machine.  After running an installation, I started the program.  At first, it asked about opening a catalogue during which time I created a new one as I have no intention of using my LR4 catalogue for LR5B.  After creating the catalogue, it stated the following:
"Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
After it closed, I tried opening it again.  Same result.  No matter how many times I tried, the program would not open.  I tried reinstalling the program to no avail using the "repair" feature.  Finally, I just removed the program.

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64 bit has stopped working error

I had not been using my laptop for a while and decided to install lightroom 3.2.  I did the install and now when I try to start lightroom I get the error message in the subject line:
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64 bit has stopped working
I have a Windows 7 laptop, with 6gb RAM, ATI Radeon video card.  The laptop is working well, except I just noticed that Photoshop CS5 64 bit and After Effects both give a similar error upon starting those applications as well.
Any ideas as to how I can solve this problem.
    Thanks,
    Scott

After opening LR 5.6 on Windows 8.1 and clicking Import it pops up a message, "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working". It worked yesterday.
How should I troubleshoot and fix this?
    Thanks.

After opening Lightroom and clicking Import it pops up this message:
    Upgraded to 5.7, same problem.
Please help me to fix this problem or to find other software for processing photos.

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working error

Updated to latest CC version - everything worked as expected for a couple of days - earlier this afternoon LR started (and continues) to crash. "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working" error - I followed various bits of support instructions - uninstalling - re-installing - signing out and back in - downloaded and engaged "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" - now, several hours later, the problem has not been resolved - I urgently need to get back to my project. Unfortunately, I even followed the thread that instructed to uninstall the previous 5.7.1 version.
Please assist asap - regards Kalli

Did not tinker with any of the setting options in the preference dialog. Just installed and worked successfully for a couple of days using the default settings.
Since the first crash some hours ago, LR has not stayed open making it impossible to try different settings.
The default install provided a fully working app - I tried out the new feature and soon after went back to my project.
Could the fact that I uninstalled the previous - 5.7.? version have anything to do with this?
How can I re-install the previous version at it was stable?
Do any of you have any answers?
And / or do you know how to engage Adobe?
    Thanks - Kalli

using Windows 7. Just recently statredf using a new SSD as C: Drive for OS and Apps. I still have OS and all apps on my old C drive but that copy of LR 5.6 bombs too.  I had also moved all image files to a different external drive and created a new catalog.

  • "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working.

My "Edit in Photoshop" link from Lightroom has stopped working.  If I hit "Cmd E" in Lightroom, Photoshop opens, but the picture doesn't appear.  I have LR 5 and PS CC 2014.  I recently uninstalled or deleted PS 6 & PS CC (not PS CC 2014).  Any suggestions?

Same problem here. I uninstalled Photoshop CS5 and reinstalled. No change.  I also tried dumping PS preferences
It opens the Photoshop application with all the menus/windows, but it never opens the actual image I chose to work on.
I'm on a Mac, using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.1  Lightroom is version 5.7  Photoshop is CS5, version 12.0.4
FWIW, I also can't automate>Photomerge ... . Makes me think Photoshop, not Lightroom, is all wacky.

  • HELP!! Lightroom has stopped working.

Just added serial number to my trial program & it was loading & working just fine for a couple minutes & then all of a sudden it just closed & stopped working. When I go to open it now it says "Lightroom has stopped working" check online or close program, but it doesn't do anything when I go to check online. also when I view program details...it says the even was APPCRASH. Does anyone know what happened. I assume yes, something crashed. But I tried uninstalling & reinstalling & it is still doing it! Can somebody help!!!??? Please?

Open a Windows Explorer, and navigate to the following directory:
    "Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\"
In there, you'll see a file called "Lightroom 3 Preferences.agprefs". Rename this file to "Lightroom 3 Preferences.agprefs.old", then start LR.

I cannot open lightroom "lightroom has stopped working" error message

  • "Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working" message and then app closes?

I've downloaded a trial of PS CC but when I open it, a message says "Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working" and then another saying "Internet Explorer will let you know if if a solution is found". HELP?!

Sorry, but I am so not good with computers, haha. I am using a PC with Windows 7, I didn't get a crash report? It just comes up with the those two messages and then closes down. I have also downloaded a trial of Lightroom and that is working absolutely fine! JUST Photoshop CC any ideas?

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working (Win 7, 64 bit)

I am trying to run Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I open the program, I get an error saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working", immediately after the splash screen goes away and the main gui opens. The only option on the error is "Close Program".
I am on a computer with an i7 processor and 12GB of memory. I have two Nvidia GTS 250 video cards, running four monitors.
Over the course of the last day, I have reformatted my computer, and reinstalled Windows twice. I have reinstalled the CS5 Master Suite more times than I can remember. I have also downloaded and installed the latest video card drivers from Nvidia.
I continue to have the same problem every time I try to open any of the programs in the CS5 suite.
The only time I have come close to getting it to work was immediately after installing the new Nvidia drivers, before restarting my computer. I was able to open it one time without it crashing, Once I restarted my computer, Photoshop continued to give me the same error every time I try to open it.
I have no other software installed on my computer. It is a brand new installation of Windows 7.
I have been on the phone with Adobe technical suuport for about an hour and a half, and I have yet to get a single suggestion other than attempting an install with my network cable unplugged. Other than that, they seem to be fond of transfering me back and forth between departments (and asking me to repeat all of my information every time).
As you can probably tell, I am very frustrated at this point and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Trevor

    My scenario and history:
Windows Vista Ultimate and now Windows 7 Ultimate
NVidia Quadro Fx 4500 driving 4 monitors total SLi on or off - makes no difference.  Drivers irrelevant.
    2 x Xeon 5160 (so total 4 cores)
    24Gb RAM
    PS CS 4 or 5
4 monitors - - yep it is the 4 monitor thing.
    Fails everytime as you describe.
Observation - If you Remote Desktop Connection onto the computer - and so in effect are using only ONE monitor - PS works fine.
A WORKAROUND for 4 or 5 - I don't consider this a fix because you lose some functionality but it gets you 99% there and is the same workaround for CS4 or 5
    Go to<drive>:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64bit)\Plug-ins\Extensions\    (or CS4 - depending on version)
    Locate File:
    ScriptingSupport.8li
Disable this extension by renaming the file with a tilde in front of the file name.  Thus:
    ~ScriptingSupport.8li
Start Photoshop - it works and is mainly functional.
The only real downside I have discovered is that disabling this scripting extension means you cannot use some of the built in scripts under FILE - SCRIPTS - the biggest PIA for me being the Contact Sheet builder no longer works.  But as I now use Lightroom to create contact sheets - this is not a big loss.  Other scripting functionality - I am sure is affected - but not to a point I find PS unusable.
ADOBE - if you read this - it has been that extesion now for the last two editions of PS.
