Lightroom CC is turning into Lightroom 2.3.2.
I had an expired trial version of lightroom 5.2 . Yesterday I got the $9.99 subscription. I couldn't see a way to get lightroom activated for CC under the opening screen where it states I had 0 days remaining on my trial version. So, I downloaded and installed the cc version from the creative cloud application. Now, the opening splash screen says Lightoom 5.2 and the about info says the same. But, the window bar says Lightroom 2.3.2 and the sliders reflect that as well (Recovery and Fill Light are back). Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks,
If your photos are in previous Process Versions, Lightroom will behave as you describe. Try importing some new photos, and you should see the LR5 sliders. You may want to update your photos to the new process version, but beware that your photos may change in appearance, so be careful about how the new version is affecting your photos--you may love it or hate, and it will affect different photos in different ways.

My G5 has been pretty reliable for the past three (?) years. Lately it's been a bit squirrely booting up--once it went into kernel panic during boot, but powering down and restarting seemed to fix that. Lately, too, when I let the machine run and it goes to sleep I'll come back after a couple of hours to find the fan running at top speed and the machine unresponsive. Yesterday it seemed to have problems booting so I reset the PRAM and NVRAM and ran Onyx and it worked fine all day. This morning when I went to boot, I got the usual gray screen with the whirling gear. After about a minute, the apple in the center of the screen turned into a circle with a slash while the gear continued to whirl. How do I fix this?
I've subsequently tried a number of things. I reset the SMU, which didn't help until I also reset the PRAM. Computer booted normally. I rebooted from the Tiger DVD and repaired the start up disk; there were only two small errors to be fixed. The machine booted normally (and pretty quickly) for about a week before the problem resurfaced. I again went through the first two steps and got things working once more.
Lately the problem has returned. First, resetting the PRAM didn't help; only resetting the SMU worked. At the last event I needed to reset the PRAM without resetting the SMU. When I get home tonight I'll try booting from the DVD and repairing the permissions on the start up drive.
At first, I thought I'd leave it running all night, but when I got to the office in the morning the fans were running at full throttle and the machine was in a coma. All I could do was reboot--which it did, immediately going into kernel panic. I shut it down and rebooted, resetting the PRAM in the process. The computer booted and ran fine all day, although it seems slow (I did have Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom running simultaneously, but I do have 5 GB of RAM).
It's been suggested I may have a corrupt RAM chip (computer doesn't chirp at me, as I'm told it would) or, more terrifying, a processor is about to check out. I also have an ATTO SCSI card in this to run a legacy scanner. Could that be a problem?

Raw Files turn into 175kb preview files.
I have download my RAW files from my Canon 1DS into Photoshop CS2 using a Lexar card reader.
They download as a full RAW file but when I go to open them in bridge the turn into a 175 kb preview file! The strange thing is I download 5 gbs from 5 different cards but not all of them did it. I found that if I download the images several times they would eventually download as full RAW files. I am using a G5 MAC with loads of memory and processing capacity. Is it the problem that the cards are corrupting, the card reader is faulty, CS2 is somehow corrupt (it is a fully registered copy) or that bridge has some weird glich in it. This problem has only just started as I have been this software for some months now.

Otherwise, try another card reader or cable. This isn't something Bridge would be doing to your files... -
I don't understand what's happening with my Music. All the songs that I purchased, that were previously on my phone, now show up with a Cloud next to them, but I can't play them. If I touch the Cloud, it turns into a red square, acts like it's downloading (which I can see happening in iTunes), but never downloads. The Cloud just stays there.
I've sync'd my phone, I've turned it to "show all music" in Settings, I've drag and dropped the songs/albums onto my phone again. I feel like I've tried everything I've seen recommended, but nothing works.
I've purchased a lot of music from iTunes. It should be there. What's going on?
P.S. Same thing happening with my purchased books. Ugh.Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match. Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

When I turn on my iMac it comes up with the login icons which I then choose and log into. The password works and I then get the apple icon and the spinning wheel. After about a minute the Apple icon turns into a prohibited icon. However, if I log in under the guest icon, I can access the wifi and get to Safari. I really don't know what to do next. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Are you running any A-V? If it's an iMac 21.5, I don't think you're running Leopard, 10.5. Probably at least Snow Leopard, 10.6. This is the Leopard forum.

Try a Safe Boot. Shift at the startup chime and expect a much longer time to boot. This will bring you to a login screen with "Safe Boot" in red.

I have tried re-setting Firefox and working in Safe Mode, but the problem still recurs. I use Fastmail as my webmail server and never had this problem on Windows XP or Windows 7. When I reply to a message, the original message is turned into html code. The same happens when I forward a message.
My JavaScript is up to date, in case that's relevant. The Fastmail support team suggested the problem would be Firefox-related.
The other function of my Fastmail account that isn't working properly in Firefox 17.0.1. is the search function.
Do I need to get new plugins or something? I don't know where the HTML editor is in Firefox or if that's what's wrong.

RachelThanks for your reply, cor-el. Norton 360 came pre-installed on the laptop as part of the package I bought. I haven't changed the pre-set firewall or anti-virus settings. Should I change something?
I will try rebooting in Windows Safe mode as you say and report if that makes any difference.

I'm having a problem with Firefox. Lately it have happened to me that I'm looking at a site and suddenly the site turns into a white blank page and that happens without me doing anything or clicking anywhere. The site loads normally and I can navigate through the page but then all the content disappears and shows just a white page. At first I thought it was a problem with the address because that problem happened to me just in this one(http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=231&cat=144&category=142) while I was looking at the classifieds but today I was browsing other pages(e.g. www.collegeboard.org) and the same thing happened. And it doesn't happen on every site, so far is has been just in a couple of addresses. Then, in order to fix this, I have to click the "go back one page" button to get to the same page I was on. It looks like when it turns white is because it goes to a different page because if I reload that white page nothing happens until I click "go back". If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

It sounds like it could be a font issue. Are you sure you are using a font in Pages which is present on the iPad?

Menu fonts all turn into boxed capital "A"s
At some point last night, while I was working on my 10.4.9 PowerMac G4, something happened and my menu fonts all turned into some glyph that looks like a capital "A" inside of a box. All of the text on the desktop, menu bar, window titles, and the left side of a finder window have this change. Files displayed within a finder window, however, do not.
Does anyone have any idea of what might have gone broken to cause this, and ideas on what I can do to try to fix it? I'd rather not reinstall if that's an option.
I've run Disk Utility and DiskWarrior to make sure the drive is up to spec, and it checked out.

Sure, from any OS X system at all. But I imagine you
still have Lucida Grande (look in
System/Library/Fonts) and I doubt replacing it will
help. Worth a try, but I think the problem is
something messed up in the OS that makes it think the

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...

I don't know what happened, I connected my external hd today and all files had been turned into that!
I know I am going to sound really stupid when I ask this, but how do I do that? There was this folder called Recycle Bin, which I have deleted already but the files are still in the same format. I know they are in the HD 'cause of the space taken up in it, but I would like to know exactly what to do to clear the malware altogether and have access to the stuff I have again.
