Lightroom CC not launching

Is anyone else having an issue with Lightroom CC not launching?
After installing via Creative Cloud, I tried to launch the application and the splash screen appears for a split second then disappears and nothing happens. I tried restarting. I tried uninstalling and re-installing. All to no avail.
I'm running an early 2011 27" iMac with 8gb of RAM. No technical reason it shouldn't work.
Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Bob

I signed out (not Quit) of Creative Cloud, then signed in again.  Now, not only will LR CC not launch as before, now neither will my PS CC 2014 and all the apps  plus Creative Cloud only give me the choice of a trial version or to provide a license key -- I don't have a license key that I recall for the Photographer's CC Package.  How do I regain use of PS CC 2014 and successfully launch LR CC 2015 and update Creative Cloud to the state it was before I signed out?  I am running a 2013 iMac with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).

I was in Lightroom and had a power surge and now Lightroom will not launch. It encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. Lightroom will attempt to fix the next time it launches. I have shut my system down and Lightroom still will not launch. Does anyone have any suggestions?

delete your preview cache (.lrdata folder).

  • Lightroom does not launch with insertion of memory card.

Lightroom does not launch on my PC with insertion of memory card. Option checked to launch in preferences. Autoplay settings set for Lightroom 6 (I assume this is CC) to import photos with insertion of memory card. New since installation of CC.

I had this problem and I was able to fix it by editing the Windows registry (it was only a minor edit).
I changed the value of the following registry key:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.AdobeLightroom64\shell\open\command
    The value was:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7\Lightroom.exe "%L"
    I changed it to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\lightroom.exe "%L"

  • Lightroom will not launch

Downloaded LightroomCC, I select the app but it does not launch the program. Rebooted after download, same issue.

It won't work for me either.  It opens, tells me to upgrade my catalog, I accept, it upgrades the catalog and launches, and immediately goes to Not Responding at the launch screen.
    Things I have tried:
    - Waiting (an hour, nothing)
    - Starting a new catalog (still freezes on launch)
    - Exiting Creative Cloud
    - Logging out and logging back in
    - Restarting my computer
    Nothing.

  • Why will Lightroom photos not launch into Photoshop CC?

I just started Creative Cloud Lightroom and PhotoshopCC.  When I try to move Lightroom 5 photos into Photoshop I get a message that says "The file could not be edited because Photoshop CC 2014 could not be launched."  Even though I go to "photo" header in Lightroom and scroll to "edit in Photoshop CC 2014" it launches into my old Photoshop 4; I deleted Photoshop 4 but photos still won't go to Photoshop CC 2014.  Frustrating. Would appreciate some suggestions.  Thanks.

I suspect the problem is with Photoshop, not Lightroom. Uninstalling older versions of Photoshop after installing a newer one is known to potentially cause a lot of grief in some cases.
What happens is that the old version takes a lot of registry settings with it on the way out - leaving behind empty pointers to itself rather than the newer versions which it is not aware of. Lost file associations is a classic.
Sometimes these pointers can be re-established easily, but in other cases a full uninstall/reinstall is needed, perhaps with a run of the CC cleaner tool tossed in to clean the slate. Or, if you have the stomach for it - manually editing the registry. But then you should know your way around and backup as you go.
With Photoshop, the safe procedure is to always uninstall in strict reverse version order, then reinstall the newer version.

  • Can not launch lightroom says error when reading its preview cache

I can not launch Lightroom is puts up a error message that says it encountered an error when reading its preview cache and goes in to a loop that keeps closing the program
I have restarted my comp 4 times same this each time
I can't find any trouble shooting and when I try and download lightroom again it just puts me back at the creative cloud desktop which I can't click in anything

You need to delete the preview cache. LR will automatically create new previews.
Read here and here are the locations. Don't touch the *.lrcat file.

  • Lightroom 3 Will not launch

Windows 7 with lots of ram and I7 proc.
LR3 has worked for years on this system.
I have deleted the preference file.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, both from the origional disc and download from adobe.
The software still will not launch.  How can I fix this?

Well, it certainly sounds as though there's a possible problem within your user profile. How you proceed will largely be dependent upon the effort involved in moving all your settings (i.e. for all your other applications) over to a new account. For me it would be a bit of a PITA, though maybe something like WET (Windows Easy Transfer) could be used (it's intended use is to copy all your settings to a new installation, but it may be possible to use it in this context). Maybe a repair re-install of Windows 7 might fix it. Other than that, I'm fresh out of ideas, but maybe try the Windows 7 Forums, as this seems more of a Windows issue than a Lightroom problem?
One last thought: does your own user account have admin privileges? Even if it does, have you tried right-clicking on the desktop icon for Lightroom and selecting "Run as administrator"?

  • Lightroom CC will not launch after install

Hi,  installed Lightroom CC today twice but it will not launch. I uninstalled it, restarted then reinstalled it. In task manager you can see it show up for a second then it disappears. I have LR 5, PS CS6, PS CC, PS CC2014. Anyone having issues?

Sign out worked when I did it correctly.  Be sure to go to Preferences in Creative Cloud & click the blue Sign Out button.  Then sign back on.
