  • Lightroom would not open.  Adobe registration keep coming up, and I'm already registered!

I have installed lightroom in my mac, but everytime I open it, the Adobe registration form comes on.  I have entered the serial number repeatedly, but once I click "Finish," the whole thing disappears, and Lightroom does not open.  Any advice for me?  I'm trying to move from Aperture to Lightroom.

    Hi Keith-
Yes, you get both photoshop and lightroom in creative cloud.
If you don't see "install" by Lightroom in the application manager, please first try signing out and back in: sign in and sign out of the Creative Cloud desktop app

Lightroom is not opening photos in Photoshop. I click Edit in PS...it opens PS...then nothing. Please help!!

Thanks guys! I am back in the room!!
That is the only thing I didn't try as I thought it was LR related. Duh!

I'm not a "Cloud" member. I just upgraded to Lightroom 6 from Lightroom 5. All was working well yesterday. Today Lightroom will not open (Windows 7). I see the logo photo over my Lightroom platform but nothing loads and I see "Lightroom not responding." I checked the catalogs and see that lrcat-Journal and lrcat-Lock have been created every time I try to open. I have a backup from the first day I upgraded, but Lightroom doesn't want to access it. Should I reinstall?

Well, is the catalogue (and the folder it is in) writable? Have you actually checked the permissions? Lightroom won't be spitting out the error just to tick you off, and - computer wizard or not - this sounds very much like something you'll have to fix at the OS level: it's probably nothing to do with Lightroom or those funny lads at Adobe.
Some light reading for you, courtesy of the site search: https://forums.adobe.com/search.jspa?q=%22+not+writable+and+cannot+be+opened%22&place=%2Fp laces%2F1383621&depth=ALL

Lightroom does not open..  I uninstalled then reinstalled LR CC to no avail; I signed out of Creative Cloud I signed back in... NOTHING... NADA!!

I know it is headache to go through same process again.
Open Preferences folder and move all Lightroom prefernces file to Desktop.
Make sure that not even single Light room  prference files like com.adobe.lightoom.plist...etcare there inside Preferences folder.
Then reboot the computer and Sign out from Creative Cloud and Sign in and then try to Launch Ligthroom CC 2015 application , by double clicking on Lightroom cc 2015 option under Apps list in Creative Cloud application"  .
    Still same issue ??
Remove Lightroom cc application and the reinstall the same from Creative Cloud.
Then try launching Lightroom cc 2015 from Apps list in CC app.
    Still same issue?
If it is okay for you , you may try launching from Root user account.

  • Lightroom does not open photoshop using  "Edit in adobe photoshop CC-" command.

I updated lightroom and photoshop using the CC desktop. (LR V5.3 x64, PS V14.6.2 x64) This broke the “Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command.
Based on advice from this forum, I unistalled both programs completely and reinstalled them.  The
“Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command is still broken.
Is there a way to fix this?  I use this feature frequently.

    In reply to DdeGannes:
What’s broken?  --  The “Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command does not open photoshop and the file as it did before the upgrade.
Is the "edit in function" not available? -- It is visible in the edit it menu.
    Was it working before?  Yes.
What happens if you click? -  Nothing.
Do you get an error message?  - No.

  • Lightroom can not open it immediately exits (OSX 10.9.4)

I can not open LR5 he leaves immediately, yet it seems correctly installed, I am running OSX 10.9.4 ??

Resolved by uninstalling Lightroom 5 and removing preferences and creating a new package with CCP for just Lightroom. Installing that package seems to have worked.

  • Lightroom 3 not opening :(

    Hello, my
Lightroom 3 has been working fine for the past couple weeks,,, the other night I was messing with the catalog settings, and ever since then the program will not open up. Either 64 bit or 32. I have the software loaded on my desk top and it works fine,, ( laptop is the issue) I have even un-installed and re-installed the program and still nothing the error report I get is ( lightroom-opening Catalog IMG_4876.jpg.Ircat.) Then I get a window that says windows will close and notify me.. HELP PLEASE.

First step is to check for the presence of a LR file ending in .lock.  If the program is not closed correctly (for example due to a computer crash), it will leave that file behind to prevent LR from opening.  Search for that next to the LR catalog that you last used (file ending in .lrcat).  If you find the ".lock" file, just delete it (but not your lrcat file!).  If there isn't a .lock file or it doesn't work, post again.

  • I just purchased and installed CC "photography" and lightroom will not open D750 files.

It says that all updates have been done and are current.  I have LR4 installed, do I need to uninstall it?
For what it is worth, PS will not open them either...
I installed CameraRaw 9.0 as an option, but that does not seem to have done the trick either?
Not super happy with the CC for the first try, very unimpressive.

Just for information - ACR has no relevance whatsoever on whether Lr will open a file.
The D750 has been supported since November 2014 (Lr 5.7) so you're either using an older version of Lr, or - depending on what actually happens when Lr "doesn't work" - this might be (as Steve mentions above) down to something like the files having been touched by Nikon software on import (which does something to the file headers that renders them unreadable by Lr); or a problem with the Write permissions on your machine.
So - some actual details of what you're seeing would be helpful, along with your OS.

  • Lightroom will not open in Photoshop.

When I try to open images in Photoshop from LR i get this message, "Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected file at C:\ .....NEF for editing it will not be opened".
    Please help.

Yes, the RAW files don't offer the chance to open the original. It makes sense as it would have to open them in Adobe Raw first anyway.
So, it seems that both Vista and XP have this problem. And yet it puzzles me (and I'm sure tech support) that so few of us are having this issue. My setup is a brand new HP laptop so I don't think it's a configuration problem.
I mentioned above that I read the Beta had this issue with some folks. Clearly Adobe are not getting to the bottom of it all yet. Let's look forward to their patches which, no doubt, will be posted soon.
It's a shame because I love this software.

  • Lightroom 5 says "There has been an error during the modification of the modules." Lightroom does not open, freezes.

Hi, I've got Creative Cloud, on a Mac Pro late 2010, 6 Core, 3.3 Gz, which has just been emptied and re-set with Yosemite. I've downloaded the Adobe stuff I need, especially Ps, Il, Id, Pp, Ae and Lightroom 5. Everything works find except Lightroom which doesn't open, giving me this message each time: "There has been an error during the modification of the modules."  There is no error number attached and the program freezes. I've got a deadline which has been broken because I can't finish the work I've started in Lightroom 5 on my old computer which I deactivated in order to run the new one. Now I don't know what to do nor where to look for the problem. I've placed the Lightroom Library on an external LaCie 4Big 8Tb Raid 5.

  • Lightroom will not open up.

I just got the LightRoom program direct from Adobe. (I live in Beijing, China so it is difficult to get help in English on the internet.) Anyways I can't seem to open up the program. It says it has been downloaded and when I click on the icon I just get the same window which has the 3 folders Sample,Documents, and Customer Support. along with Adobe Reader 8., Lightroom Read me, and the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom .pkg which I assume should open the program if I click onto it. I took it to a local Apple Affiliate store and they couldn't figure out what was going on as well. because I am using the latest ProBook Mac lab top. I have a 2 gig memory. I only have 5 gigs of working space though on my hard drive. Could this be the problem.? What a nightmare if I have to send this back to Adobe................
Please help I want to use the program......
    Thanks, Wesley Wong

  • Lightroom will not open, says it is open in another catalogue

How do I fix this error notice when I try to open Lightroom, it says it cannot open because it is open in another catalogue, I don't have another catalogue.

Using your system browser, open the folder containing your catalog. You should find a file with the .lock Extension. It should have the same filename as the catalog. You need to delete that lock file. Sometimes if Lightroom doesn't shut down exactly right that file gets left behind. It's a file that is used by the catalog, but is deleted whenever Lightroom closes.

  • Lightroom is not opening

    UNEXPECTED ERROR OPENING

    Reboot your computer
If that doesn't work, delete your preferences file: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-41.html
If that doesn't work, try opening a recent backup of your catalog file
