Lightroom CC syncing and deleting across Mac, iPhone, and iPad Lightroom apps

I have searched for nearly an hour for some answers and find the Lightroom support sections massively confusing, even contradictory (example here:  Adobe Lightroom on mobile FAQ In one answer it says that "Lightroom on mobile syncs original JPEG and PNG files that originate from your mobile device in the Creative Cloud" and in another question right below it says "Since Lightroom on mobile does not store your original image files, but instead syncs Smart Previews").  I need some basic questions answered around how these various platforms inter-operate [BTW, I am running latest OS and App versions across the board]:
1) Do images taken with my iPhone automatically get uploaded to Creative Cloud (CC) or not and are they at full resolution? [Seems like they sync once I open the app, but not sure of resolution.  Would be good to know what is supposed to trigger the syncing, e.g., opening the app, taking the picture, etc.]
2) Once an image is uploaded to CC from the phone, and I can see it in Lightroom desktop, are changes made to the image from either device's version of Lightroom automatically synced, i.e., I will see the changes made from any device on any other device the next time I log into CC from that device? [It seems like this is the way it works, but again not sure]
3) Assuming the whole image is uploaded intact from the phone to the CC, if I delete the image in the Apple Photos app, will that in any way affect the CC cloud image?  I am not deleting it from within any Lightroom app at this point -- just the native IOS app. [Does not appear to be in any way connected -- which is both good and bad -- must delete in multiple places now]
4) If I delete the photo in the CC from the desktop, does it delete the native photo on the phone as well, or do I need to delete it in both places to get rid of it entirely? [It would seem that when I delete the photo from the Lightroom iPhone app, after it has been synced, it does not delete it from the Lightroom desktop version -- I still see it there]
5) I assume videos taken with the phone are not uploaded -- is that right? [They are not loaded to the CC as best as I can tell]
6) Do the iPhone photos that get uploaded to CC end up only as preview-like images on the desktop version of Lightroom, or is the entire original resolution image downloaded to the desktop?  If it is not downloaded, how do I export a full resolution, modified image from Lightroom desktop (or from the iPhone for that matter)?
7) I am not seeing any of the 25,000+ photos stored on my desktop version of Lightroom getting synced to the cloud -- isn't supposed to sync a preview image, and if so, how do I enable that?  What happens to changes to that preview image made from the phone -- do they get made back on the desktop version of the image through Lightroom?
Thanks for the help.  I wish Adobe made this clearer up front so as to avoid any accidental deletions and to ensure the products are interoperating the way they should.

Let me try to answer your questions.
1)
collections created within the Lr Mobile app will be automatically synced to the back-end. You can add photos manually from your camera roll or enable a collection for "Auto Add". With that all future camera shots will be automatically imported to Lr Mobile and synced
2)
correct. changes will be synced from Lr Mobile to Lr Desktop - back&forth
3) local camera roll deletion is not connected to the Cloud back-end. But be carefull that the import/sync is finished before you trigger that.
4)
as answerd before. the cloud back-end is not connected to the device camera roll
5)
video is not supported yet
7)
original resolution images will be  downloaded to Lr Desktop. Preview images will be shown in the Lr Web view Adobe Lightroom
8)
when you create a collection within Lr Desktop and add your photos you would like to sync, then you can enable this collection for sync. As soon your are signed-in and start the sync (via the top left activity panel) you will notice a little checkbox beside the collection. When you check this sync start to run. Lr Deskop generates smart previews and uploads these to the back-end (plus thumbnail previews + meta-data). When you open up Lr Mobile app and you would like to make an edit, the Lr Mobile app loads the smart preview form the back-end and syncs back the meta-data or edit setting.
Hope that helps you to start.

  • Sync iTunes between 2 macs, iPhone and iPad

    Hi,
I had 1 macbook, iPhone and iPad. I had synched my iTunes with all these devices. Recently i bought one more mac book and i would like to synch my iTunes with the new macbook. When i connect my iPhone or iPad to the new macbook my iTunes are not getting synched.
I had the home sharing option turned on and now I am able to view the iTunes library in my new macbook only when i have the iTunes turned on in my old macbook. If i close the iTunes in my old macbook, iTunes in the new macbook is not able to access the songs.
Without having my old macbook turned on, is there a way that i can synch my iTunes with the new macbook.
Basically i would like to keep my iTunes synched between 2 macs, iPhone and iPad.
    Old Macbook Pro - 13 inch - OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10
    iPhone - 5S - iOS 8.1
iPad Air Mini - Version 8.1
    Old Macbook Pro - 15 inch - OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10
    Thanks
    Srinraj

I've done this manually. Someone may have an AppleScript, who knows?
Turn on File Sharing on both computers (really only needed on the machine with the songs). I presume you have a network connecting the two computers, AirPort?
From Finder on the MPB, select Network (make sure "Connected Servers" is selected in Finder Preference / General). Attach to the source computer's HD so you can see the folder containing the iTunes music.
    Launch iTunes on your MPB.
Make sure "Preferences / Advanced / Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized" is CHECKED.
Select "Add to Library" in iTunes on the MPB, navigate to the mounted folder from the source, and select the albums or songs you want to bring over. I do a sort on "time" to find the newer additions to my iTunes Library.
You can multi-select, etc. using the usual Apple conventions.
iTunes will crank a while, and copy the files from your server to your MPB.
    Good luck!

  • How can i sync email deletions on my iPhone and iMac, and vice versa?

My email provider is Sky in the UK. While i am able to receive the same emails on both devices (imac and iphone) simultaneously, if I delete one on the iphone, it is not deleted on the iMac, and vice versa. I don't want to have to delete emails twice, once on each machine, but rather only once on one machine (and then that email would automatically disappear from the inbox of the other machine).
Is this possible? My sky account is IMAP on the Iphone, but POP on the IMAC. I tried changing it to IMAP on the iMac, but then i couldn't received email messages in MAIL on the iMac so reverted it back to a POP account.
Any advice appreciated. Spent way too many hours today trying to figure this out.
    Thanks,
    Joe

if it were imap on both, you'd be able to delete an email from one device and it would remove it from the other. they can't have different protocols and still sync with each other

  • How can I sync calendars between my mac, iphone and android phone

I use an iPhone as my primary phone, but do travel alot and need to have a secondary phone with a local SIM card when I travel. For this reason, I am considering buying an android phone. One of my major concerns though, is how would I be able to (if possible at all) sync calendars and contacts between all the devices. Today with iCloud I can get the iCloud syncing between my iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad and iPhone. When I introduce an android device, I am going to have to bring in Google calendars as well, so how do I get my iCal calendars to automatically sync to google calendars without having to creat duplicate calendars or without having to basically migrate to using only google calendars? Same goes for the contacts?

On your Mac and iPad, turn off iMessage.

  • The Contacts app continually adds last names that I edit out.  this happens across MacBook, iPhone, and iCloud.  I have even fully deleted the contact and reentered.  I am about to move to Android !!  From posts it looks like this is a common problem.

It is asking if you want to delete all the iCloud contacts off your Mac (not in iCloud).
Delete them. If you keep them you will have duplicates when you turn it back on. You will have the copy you kept and another copy when they resync with iCloud

  • Why cant my imessages sync across both iphone and ipad

why cant my imessages sync across both iphone and ipad same with face time

I looked into your question and believe I may have a solution for you.
Your iMessages likely aren't syncing because of a bug in iOS 5. Syncing iMessages between iOS devices is supposed to happen automatically, but sometimes it does not.
You could likely manually activate syncing by navigating to Setttings --> Messages --> Receive At --> Caller ID on both your iPad and iPhone and selecting your Apple ID.

  • Deleting an iMessage on an iOS device won't sync the deletion on Mac OS

I have scoured through the discussion boards for solutions on how sync message deletions between my iOS devices and Macs via iCloud. So far, no dice. Here's where I'm at now:
I have been able to successfully sync new message creations across all of my iOS and MacOS devices. By that, I mean I can start a new iMessage conversation on any of my Macs or iOS devices and that new message will appear among all of my other iOS and MacOS devices. And it does so almost immediately. Which is great and as advertised.
However, if I then delete that same new message from any of my Macs or iOS devices, it remains on all of my other iOS and MacOS devices. So I'm stymied: although creating a new message puts that message on all connected iCloud devices, deleting that message from any device is only a local phenomenon: to delete any message from all devices, I need to manually go to each device and delete it. Which ***** and is not as I'd remember it being advertised.
So here are my questions for the group:
    1) Is syncronized deletions across all devices/computers even possible? The folks on this here board don't seem to think it is.
    2) Have you personally been able to sync your deletions across your Macs/iOS devices?
2a) If so, can you point to a link or explanation of how, exactly you set up your devices?
    3) What is your Mac OS and iOS version number, so at least we can compare notes? I'm on iOS 7.0.6 on all devices, OSX Mavericks or OSX Mountain Lion on all Macs.
Cheers and thanks in advance, everyone!
    David

    Hi,
The Issue is what you mean by "Sync" and what Apple put into the Apps.
The "Sync" is only "Display on all devices" and not anything else.
It has been this way in the beta (version 6.1 in Lion), Messages 7 and 7.0.1 in Mountain Lion and the version in Mountain Lion (which does include changes at the OS 10.9.2 update but the Messages version has not changed)
At the OS X 10.8.2 (Messages version 7.0.1) we got the  current form of iPhone Numbers and Apple ID full linking which did not happen before this.
This means iPhone could get Apple ID iMessages and the Mac could display the iPhone number iMessages.
The Read, Delivered and deleting an iMessages on one device does not cross over on to other devices.
In  that respect it is closer to fetching POP mail on server devices compared to IMAP ones
Deleting something on IMAP server will delete it form any login.
Doing so on a POP email will not.

My wife and I both have iPhones and iPads. Can we both have access to the same iTunes Match library or do we have to have separate subscriptions?  Our devices are synced to the same computer and we currently download titles from the same library.  We both use separate apple id's on our devices.

You need to reconfigure your phone for use with your Apple ID. I suggest you restore yours as new then reconfigure it with your information and Apple ID. Be sure to disable Find My Phone, if it's enabled, before proceeding.

  • How do I sync a PDF file between iPhone and iPad in iBooks?

How do I sync a PDF file between iPhone and iPad in iBooks?

If the PDF supports it then you can try opening the PDF in iBooks on your phone and use the 'share' icon (the square with the upward pointing arrow) to email it to yourself (some PDFs a protected and don't support emailing) and use 'open in' in the Mail app on your iPad to copy it to its Mail app.
Or you can connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy it over to your iTunes (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just ibooks) and if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its  iBooks app, and you can then sync it to your iPad.

  • Sync all iMessages with computer, iPhone and iPad

I just installed iMessage BETA on my Mac  OSX 10.7.4    How can I change the setting so that when I send from either my Mac, iPhone or iPad they all SYNC from the same place.  I send iMessages to friends and they say that they are getting them from 3 different place, 2 of my emails or my phone.  If I send from my computer their replies only come to my computer.  I would like to send 1 message (either from computer, iPhone or iPad) and have it come form ONE address and be on ALL my devices and when a person responds have it be on ALL devices.
    Please instruct.

On your mac log into Messages with the Apple id/email address you're using. Make sure in preferences that this is the account that's enabled and appears as the "address you can be reached at".
On your phone in Settings at Messages make sure iMessage is 'on". At "Receive At" enter and make sure the same Apple id/email address that you used on your mac is entered. You should then see below the Apple id "you can be reached for messages at " your phone number ( entered automatically ) and your email address. Below this is Caller id you will see your phone number and email address here. I have my phone number checked because not everyone I text will have my email address and thus would not recognize that it's from me. All my messages sync between my ipad, mac, and phone so I've left it this way with no issues.
On your ipad in Settings at Messages make sure that the "receive at" field shows your Apple id/email address that you've used and that it shows both in the Apple ID field and below at the "you can be reached for messages at" field.
On my mac, since I have two email, Apple id accounts I have to make sure that the correct one is selected for the Messages account. Initially the wrong one was checked causing a few problems. As long as you're using the same email address on each device and your phone shows you can be reached at two addresses - phone number and email you should be good to go.

  • Can I sync PDF files between my iPhone and iPad?

Can I sync PDF files between my iPhone and iPad?

Yes, and we will have integration with our Mobile Readers as well. We've already submitted to Apple for review, and will be live once they complete their review and approval.
With this, we'll allow you to share files pretty easily between Desktop, Tablet and Phone across all OSes...and when you make changes, we'll automatically bring them to and from your phone/tablet! Pretty cool.

  • I seem to have at least two, and maybe four, iCloud accounts, across my iPhone, my iPad and my MacBook Pro. Can I combine them into one iCloud account?

I seem to have at least two, and maybe four, iCloud accounts, across my iPhone, my iPad and my MacBook Pro. Can I combine them into one iCloud account? I have been able to log into what appears to be three of the four iCloud accounts I have. Two of them seem to be remarkably similar, and one appears to be only for my MacBook.I think I know which one my iPhone is backing up to, as I successfully restored from a back-up last week. The fourth iCloud account I can't access via password or security questions. Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password.  On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo.

It is a hard one.. laptops with small drives are a pain.
What you need is a home media server.
Some people use a PC running itunes for cost.. but that is nothing like as good as using a Mac mini.. they make great little HTPC device.. you can plug in large hard disks and store all your files and media. And share it with the network.. Read up apple's instructions on home sharing.
    https://www.apple.com/au/support/homesharing/
For cost you can buy a mini from 2011 or 2012.. I would not recommend earlier ones.. the advantage of 2012 is they have USB3 ports. But you will pay more for them.. new mini is not as useful.. they have soldered in memory and you cannot upgrade.. the old mini was the most easily modified mac in the whole range. Uses little power and can be bought for a $300US for a good one second hand.. maybe less.
