Lightroom changing date stamps (or more) on unopened files??

I routinely backup my catalog to an external drive, and then I sync all the folders with images to the same drive. I have done this ever since starting with Lightroom a long time ago, with no problems. Last night, I backed up the catalog (LR 3.4), and afterwards, I set up a sync. There should have been 50+ deletions and a smaller number of additions, the latter mostly XMP files. I got those, but the synch software also said it needed to update roughly 2000 additional files. Windows confirmed that the date stamps of these files had been changed. These were all jpgs or XMP files, not raw files. I had not done anything with any of these 2000 extra files. Some I had not touched since December of 2008! Could LR have changed the date stamps of these files, or done some other modification, while updating the catalog for it's backup? I have never experienced anything like this before, and now I am uncertain which version of the 2000 files to keep.
Thanks for any thoughts.

When you copied the files to the new drive they became new files created on that date.
I have the same thing, files not worked on in ten years with a creation date of 2009 when I got the latest computer.

    I'm on mac osx.
    I'm trying to add time/date stamp to my screen capture file names. (at the moment it's just 'Picture 1' etc..)
    I've tried the following command  in terminal but have not had success. please help!!

    Surely someone else will provide a better solution. Meanwhile, however, you might want to try the following script. Copy and paste the script into the AppleScript Editor's window and save it as an application. Then drop your screen capture files on the droplet's Finder icon.
    on open theDroppedFiles

  • N8 - Dukto changes date stamp on transferred files

    I downloaded Dukto a few days ago after reading about it on another post on the forum.
    I have used it a few times to transfer some data to my phone from a PC but for the first time I have just tried it to transfer data the other way, ie from the phone to the PC.  The files I chose were images from the camera and I am very disappointed to realise that Dukto has altered the date stamp on the files, to the time they were transferred (rather than leaving it at when the pictures were taken)
    Is there any way round this, because I was starting to like the speed and ease of use of Dukto but for me, it is unacceptable if it changes what is a major plus point in digital photography, ie an automatic time stamp on images.
    If there is no way round it, does anyone know of an alternative way of using Wi-Fi to transfer files in both directions, that does not mess with the timestamp info.

    Hi.
    The case you described is right. But it´s not a bug.
    Why don´t you organise your pics/vids on your desktop with picasa for example. There you have many tools, also to rename your files, so that the filename contains the creation date.
    Or you use a cloud solution like dropbox, google+ or amazon clouddrive to sync pics/vids from your phone automatically.
    But never use the built-in sony playmemories. It´s really slow, pics are down-scaled to 1280x720 and vids are not synced. It´s the worst cloud-service for pics I´ve seen.

  • How to change data in decision table using excel file in operating system?

    Hello, BRF Experts
    I now brf + for the first time in the current project is being developed.
    Now, project has been facing a big problem.
    Develop system that was developed in the history of decision table in the operating system can be used to update excel file, etc. I do not know whether.
    So, I was tested, but can not change data in decision table.
    [ error message : system is not change allowed ].
    The operating system itself to the current system setting is immutable and check it
    : changes and transports for client-specific object -> no changed allowed
    : cross-client object changes -> no changes to repository and cross-client customizing object.
    Decision table in the operating system can update the details if I want to know what to do.
    Maintenance view can be modified in the operating system as a decision table, I wonder if you can create a view.

    Hi ,
    Exchanging data with Microsoft Excel is done with the help of the XML-based file format (file extension .XSLX) introduced with Microsoft Excel 2007. If you are using an older version of Microsoft Office, you can download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack to upgrade the supported file formats from the Microsoft Download Center ([Exchanging Decision Table Data With Microsoft Excel |http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466]). Once you have downloaded the Compatibility Pack, you have to install it on every workstation that has an older version of Microsoft Office installed.

    Hope this helps.

  • Lightroom - Photoshop Integration breaks for more than one file

    This message is for those of us who process lots of images. I just spend a n afternoon working with Lightroom 1.0 to process the 900+ images taken at a sporting event over the weekend. My task is to find the keepers, and then run a custom action in Photoshop on every one of those files to prepare the files for delivery to the client.
    Its pretty clear anyone doing serious noise reduction or sharpening work needs to have PS right now, but even if those limitations are addressed, let's assume there's always going to be something that needs to be done in Photoshop.
    The problem is the current integration of Photoshop and Lightroom seems to be based on a single file, i.e. there's no batch capabilities, but I need to be able to set up and run recorded Photoshop actions on 900 files! (OK, only half were keepers, but you get the idea.)
    The workaround is to export all of the files out of Lightroom into a directory, and then run a batch process to create a second directory of the processed files. I now have 900 files that aren't in Lightroom's database! Unfortunately Lightroom doesn't recognize files on the hard drive, and so if you're using Lightroom as a file manager, in six months I'll never know those post-processed files are even there.
    Sure, I can delete the first directory, but I'll definitely want to keep the final files around for later. The only option is to then run another import on the final directory, which creates more down time.
    The problem is the chances of getting out of sync are huge, plus there's no association between the original and processed versions as happens when you edit from within Lightroom. (In that case the original and processed are stacked.)
    Now, the 1.0 version is amazing, and I consider the program to be one of the best programs ever designed. This is just a request to consider tackling this problem in version 2.0.

    Yes, that's a big improvement in 1.0. The only problem is it only works for one file :-(
    Overall I've found stacking to be less useful in other contexts, unfortunately. For me at least its been easier to just go through all of the photos initially to rank them, and then only show the candidates to send to clients.

  • How can i change date and time after importing a file

    hello
    i'm importing AVI files first in iMovie because Final doesn't support (other question i put in) but when i see the scenes form 1993 they have the date 2004.
    i believe 2004 is the date i put them on the computer.
    Now i looked in the help files Final Cut Pro but cant find anything to adjust the date and time.
    it works well in iMovie using the help files:
    Right-click the clip you wish to edit and click Adjust Clip Date and Time from the menu that appears. Or click on Archive and than adjust date and time
    But as i said i cant import the files in FCP have to import them to  iMovie files adjust the date and than import to Final Cut Pro but than de changes i made to the date and time  are gone and in FCP 2004 is again the date of the file!!!
    Question how can i Change in Final Cut Pro the date and time in a same way as iMovie does?
    Jemajoro

    OK, I think I understand what you are saying but it still does not look like it is doing it as you describe.
    Here is another screen shot.
    Note that all clips in "2007 August" event have the date of Aug x, 2007.
    Yet, the event "2007 August" still shows up under the 2012 "folder" (is that the right terminology?).
    The newest clip in this event is Aug 31, 2007 so shouldn't it be categorized as 2007 and not 2012?
    I think you know this but I am using the following feature:
    Go to the sprocket icon under the events.
    Select "Group events by date" and then by "group events by year and month"
    Thanks again for all the help

  • Lightroom wont save metadata to more than one file at once

    I've got a whole bunch of files in a catalogue that have had the metadata changed locally.  I want to overwrite with the metadata thats in my LR cat.  When I select them all and choose metadata>save metadata to files the little "!" dissapears from only file ata time.  I matters not which module I'm in or if I go library > save metadata. Of course I'm on a deadline.  Argh!
    EDIT: I tried deleting the local XMP files and I get the same result

    *facepalm*
    thanks

  • Change date/time format in Screen Shot file name?

    I capture Screen Shots all day long.  But when I go to look for the one I just took, it's not always at the bottom of the list.  That's because Mac names them as e.g.
    Screen Shot 2014-04-29 at 1.19.04 PM.png (and the order gets screwed up).
    Can I change to make save as e.g.
    Screen Shot 2014-04-29 at 13.19.04.png (this way they'll always stay in order).
    Thanks for any help.

    You may have to change system time format globally. Is it worth ?

  • Changing Time Stamp in Receiver Adapter's File Naming Schema.

    Hi All,
    I am working on a ABAP Proxy to File(FTP with FCC) scenario.
    I have a requirement to place the file at FTP with naming schema XSP_SUPPLIER_CC_DD_MM_YYYY.csv.
    I have checked many blogs which talks about Dynamic Configuration, but here the naming schema we fetch is from sender file adapter's ASMA(Adapeter Specific Message Attributes).
    But in my case sender side is ABAP proxy.
    How can I achieve this??
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Sachi

    Hi,
    >> but here the naming schema we fetch is from sender file adapter's ASMA(Adapeter Specific Message Attributes).But in my case sender side is ABAP proxy.
    You can use dynamic configuration to not only fetch values from message header you can use it to put values to message heade also.....you can write  UDF (code will look like below) and in the UDF you can create string with required filename and concatinate it with the timestamp...
    try {
    String filename    = "";
    String timestamp = "";
    DynamicConfiguration conf1 = (DynamicConfiguration) container
        .getTransformationParameters()
        .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key1 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create( "http:/"+"/sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    filename = "XSP_SUPPLIER_CC_"sourceFiledValue(Supplier)addtimestamphere+".csv";
    conf1.put(key1,filename);
    return filename;
    catch(Exception e)
         String exception = e.toString();
          return exception;
    Supplier>UDF>TargetMessage
    In the file receiver communication channel check the ASMA property target filename.
    Regards,

  • Need to change Date/Time stamp on jpeg file

    I combine images into panoramas using PTGUI. The problem is that the output image file is date stamped as the time that I created the image. I really want the date/time stamp to be the same as the images that go into the panorama. I cannot find a way in LR to change this.

  • Lightroom changes file date and time

    When I imported a large number of images to Lightroom, keeping the files in their original location, the dates and times of the files were updated. This is a bit of a pain because it means that about 4000 files will now be backed up again to the online backup service I use. Why does LR change the filedate when all it's doing is importing to the library?

    > Alexander wrote: I believe you have set the option to "Automatically write changes into XMP" and are working with non-raw files (jpeg, tiff or dng)? In this case it is the expected behaviour as LR will write any metadata changes right into the files, thus changing the modification date of the image files.
    Either uncheck the above mentioned preference setting or beg Adobe to bring us back xmp side car files for jpeg, tiff and dng.
    No, I'm not stalking you :)
    The following applies to Macintosh OS X, 10.4.8. I don't know if the same happens with Windows.
    I had a similar problem when editing some JPEG file from my Fuji F30. When I would Export the metadata the 'Modified' date of the file changed as expected. However, for certain files, the 'Created' date also changed. I opened a case with Adobe, sent them a description of the problem and some sample files. The Technical Support person reproduced the behavior and passed the information to Engineering.
    Yes, Adobe, give us XMP files for all files.

  • How I can change file time & date stamp?

    I need to change date and time info of my text file.
    Is it possible to do with labview? My application
    check the File/Directory info - last mod (U32) and
    some cases I need to change this info.
    Tapio

    There are quite a few windows version of the unix touch command which will do exactly what you need.
    I'm sure there is a way to call it even within LabVIEW, using "system exec". You might even be able to call cygwin1.dll using a "call library node" (I have not tried this).
    - There is the full featured cygwin environment for windows. "touch" is in fileutils.
    - There are also simple ports such as Touch For Windows.
    (quote from this page:
    What Does It Do?
    For those who don't know, here's a simple explanation: It updates the dates associated with a fi
    le to whatever you want it to be. It can change access, modification and creation dates. You as a user can update them independently of each other, you can update them with any possible date. Dates can be now, user specified or copied from another file. If you try to touch a file which does not exist, this command will create it for you (empty of course)." )

  • Lightroom changes file date (build and changeing date) by jpg files

    Hallo
    I am using Lightroom on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Problem is that Lightroom changes both dates of the file (the date when the file was build and the date when you have made changings on the file) when i save the Metadates to the file.
    This happens only by jpg files. By raw / xmp files is the date of the raw file not changed, the both dates of the xmp are also changed like by jpg.
    I want not to change the time when the file was build. So that i can see in the Finder / Explorer when the file was build ( Photo taken).
    How can I solve this Problem.
    Thanks for Help

    Do not save the metadata to the files. It's quite unnecessary to do so, but of course, you should have full backups of the images and the catalog(s) [.lrcat].
