Lightroom collections and Elements 11 Albums Sync?

I just upgrated to Elements 11 and am a beginning Lightroom 4 user. Can I sync my Elements 11 albums with my Lightroom Collections?

Depends on what you mean by "sync"
It can be done manually, by you, the user, always checking to see that the same photos are in both the PSE11 Albums and the Lightroom Collections — but that's probably not what you meant.
I suppose if you are really really good at writing SQL code, you could keep these items in sync that way — but that's probably not what you meant.
Other than that, the answer is: it can't be done.
So the advice I have for you is to make Lightroom your only "organizing" type of software. If you haven't already transferred the organization you have created from the PSE11 Organizer to Lightroom, then do so, and then stop using the PSE Organizer. You use the Library Module in Lightroom as your only organizing software, and edit the photos in Lightroom, and optionally use the PSE11 Editor for more advanced type of editing.

Lightroom 4 and Elements 11- editing

I have a photo in Lightroom 4 and I want to edit it in Elements 11, It first makes a tiff file, which when I was using CS2 it would make a psd file (there must be a default setting I have to change??) after I am done how can I get the photo to automatically save back into Lightroom over the original? If I do a save, it wants to save wants to save it back to the orignal file I have outside of Lightroom, which causes and extra step because I would have to reimport it. What am I doing wrong??

In Lightroom, select a photo, right-click on it and select Edit In. The dialog box that pops up allows you to choose JPG, TIF or PSD.
When you are done editing in PSE, you do a Save. It does not save over your original file. It saves over the TIF or PSD or JPG that LR created, which is the desired result, so you click on Yes to overwrite the file created by Lightroom (a TIF or PSD or JPG).

Lightroom 4 and Elements 10

I am using lightroom 4, and want to "edit in Elemennts 10" which is installed on my mac. When I click "edit in" and click on Elements 10, NOTHING HAPPENS? What should I do?

if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

Will Lightroom find and include/manage albums created previously with Photoshop Elements 11

I have been using PE 11. I had to "rebuild" my computer after a hacking attack and in the process I lost my PE 11 program but of course still have all the photos and albums which were filed and processed by that program. My question is, will Lightroom be able to recognise and include
those images? Will it be a seamless transition?

You don't have the program any more? You should be able to download it at no charge from Adobe. But the important question is: do you have the PSE 11 catalog file? I think you will need both for the command File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog to work. It's not sufficient that you have the photos, you need to install PSE 11 and also have the PSE catalog file.

Syncing Lightroom Collections with Smugmug Galleries

Is it possible to keep Lightroom Collections in sync with Smugmug Galleries within Lightroom itself? For example, I have a Lightroom Collection called Sunsets and I also have a Smugmug Gallery called Sunsets. If I were to add a picture to the Lightroom Collection or delete it from the Lightroom Collection, I would like for that same photo to be added or deleted to/from the Smugmug Gallery automatically. I am using the latest Smugmug Plugin for Lightroom. The problem I face is trying to remember what photos I have added or deleted from my Lightroom Collections and then doing the same thing for the Smugmug Galleries. If there is a way to keep these in sync, then my problem will be solved. Thanks for your help.

If you are using Jeffery Friedl's Smugmug publish plug-in you can do the following:
Create Normal Collection in LR i.e. "Sunsets"
In the Smugmug Publish Services create a new Smart gallery (call it Sunsets as well) (See instructions on Jeffery's site for specifics on doing this)
Once the empty Smart Gallery has been created then you can edit it in Lightroom to have the rule(s) like below:
Choose Source as Collection, Contains All, 'Sunsets' (as the text to match)
I could not test this out directly with Smugmug as I only have a Zenfolio account.
But the instructions on Jeffery's site look like this is applicable to either his Smugmug or Zenfolio plugin.
Now, if I add/delete a photo to the normal LR collection titled 'Sunsets' then the corresponding Smart collection in the Publish services shows the same.
You then have to click on the Publish button to get the actual website updated with the changes.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction for what you are trying to accomplish.

I have another computer with Lightroom 4 and Elements 10 and there is no problems to operate from Lightroom to Elements. I have tried almost everything and spent several hours to find a solution. My both computers are new HP Pavillion and have Windows 7. What shall I do?

Lightroom 5.5 Mobile Sync of a collection has been failing to complete (stops on 12 of the 34 images) and today Lightroom desktop does not provide a sync tick box in the left hand side of the Collections Catalog so cannot attempt to resync.

Lightroom.com and the iPad show the same 12 images but the flags I had set on them previously (which are still set on the iPAD and Lr.com) no longer show up on the Desktop. It seems the Mobile Sync process has somehow disconnected between Desktop and elsewhere and fallen apart....

Hi Guido, thanks for getting in touch. When I fire up Lightroom under W7 and check Preferences and Lightroom Mobile I see my Adobe ID with the "Sign Out" button next to it. If I check out the "More Account Info Online" I get taken to my account page. If I hit the "Adobe" option from the account screen and the "Lr" option from there I get to see the same 12 images that have appeared on my iPad, but there are actually 34 images in that collection, presumably the remainder being those 'pending assets' you mention. I am not presented with the sync check boxes I would expect to see in the left hand column of the Collections area.
So I've now signed out of Lr Mobile from W7 desktop, restarted Lr and the logged back in to Lr Mobile. Lr Desktop now seems to be picking up my iPad Camera Roll, which is something I hadn't asked it to do, although it seems to have stopped at 45 of 46. Over on "Lightroom.adobe.com" the number of images in the Camera Roll file is increasing but not caught up with the number on the PC yet. There are now two PAGB Collection files, one with the same 12 images, the other is empty. Over on the iPad I'm also seeing two PAGB Collection files as well, same content as on "Lightroom.adobe.com".

HT1386 when i try to sync, each device i sync to ends up with different amount of information, for instance in iTunes, i have my eric claption collection which has 34 albums. but when i sync to my i phone, there are only 26 albums, same with my touch, on

When I sync my I tune music library to my other devices, none of the other devices end up with the same amount of music. For instance, in my itunes library on my mac, i have 34 complete albums. When I sync to my iphone only 26 albums come over (it is not a memory issue, i have 25 gb of free space on my iphone), on my touch, again syncing with changing anysetting, i only getr 26 albums, but not the same 26 albums that i get with my iphone, again no memory issue. When I sync my ipad mini, my clapton collection tells me I have 48 albums with 340 songs, agin on my mac I only have 34 albums with 421 songs, agan, no setting changed between syncs. on My Ipad tablet, my clapton library shows 340 songs with 57 albums. By the way if I go into my clapton library and count manually how many albums are on my ipad there are only 25.
Tech suppoert has been worthless, they keep haveing me do the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Pure insanityl

Are all these songs associated with the same Apple ID or were some purchased on another account?
Are they tagged properly? In the library does it break an album out into several different albums with a few tracks each?
Check your sync settings for each device. Do you accidentally have only certain songs/albums syncing?

Photoshop elements 11 albums won't sync

Photoshop Elements 11 albums won't sync with ipad using iTunes.
I was using PE10 and synced my albums using iTunes to my iPad 3 iOS 6.0 and 5.1 just fine. (itunes 10.7.0.21) I upgraded to PE11 and it goes into perpetual sync when albums are selected. I deleted some albums and added test albums in PE11 and those changes are not reflected in iTunes.
I worked with Apple Care for about 2 hours uninstalling all of the Apple software (iTunes, etc) and reinstalling. That did not fix it. Apple declared it an Adobe problem and suggested I call them.
I worked with Adobe about 45 minutes before they declared it an iTunes problem.
Any ideas out there?

I solved the mystery. It had to do with the file metadata in the Photoshop Elements catalog. When I moved the catalog (pictures) from my old machine to the new machine, the path (folder location) of the images changed. So, although the catalog had cached thumbnails of the photos to display in Photoshop Elements (which tricked me into thinking that the path to the images was correct), the paths were actually wrong. All I had to do was “reconnect” the missing images (a feature in Photoshop Elements which corrects missing/wrong paths to images) and now everything works correctly (sync in iTunes).

Elements 12 Albums not syncing to revel

I had been previously using elements with ps. Everything was syncing perfectly back then. Was then forced to leave ps for revel. Since in elements 11 you can't link albums to revel I have stopped using revel. My album structure in revel matches my elements 11 structure though because of the previous ps app. Now that I saw that elements 12 syncs albums to revel I bought it and renewed my revel subscription. But now albums don't sync. Album photos don't upload to revel. The only way to upload is by checking to sync the entire catalogue. Then my pictures which are not in an album are uploaded. So clearly there is no link between my elements 12 albums and my revel account. So do I need to delete all my photos from revel and start from scratch???

I would like to understand what happens when you are logged into your Revel account through Organizer and drag/drop any album from local album to mobile album section. This is the way to mark a album to be uploaded to Revel.

You do the opposite of how you got them on your phone, you unsync the pics using iTunes.

Here's a little more information on what I am trying to do.
I have a desktop computer with 4tb worth of pictures that has Lightroom and Photoshop on it. I also have a laptop with Photoshop and Lightroom. I would like to be able to edit those same pictures with their current edits that are currently on my desktop on my laptop. If this can be done, I'm sure I need to be on the same wifi network for my laptop to be able to access my desktop's photo library. I am technically savvy enough to map a network drive, but how do I get my two Lightroom catalogs to sync when I make a change on one of my computers? Would i be working only on one catalog? Or two separate catalogs that would need to be manually synced to the other computer? Would it be beneficial to put my lightroom catalog on something like dropbox?
I'd appreciate any information or tutorials if someone knows how to do this.

I do this by having my LR catalog and photos on an external drive that I swap between the two computers. I am on Windows and have the same drive letter assigned to the drive on both computers.
Because the photos are on a portable drive I back up the portable drive to another hard-drive every night or after important work, because portable drives are susceptible to damage or loss.

How do I import collections and previous editing into a new copy of Lightroom 5?
