Lightroom does not support duo toned images. Why? Incredible that it does not!

Lightroom does 'split-toning', but I suspect that's not what you're after.
A duo-tone in offset print terms refers to a BW image printed with black and one additional colour. LR however works only in the RGB colour model, so you need to resort to e.g. Photoshop for duo-tone (or CMYK) conversions.

  • Does Lightroom 4.2 support d3200 Raw images

I tried importing but all that showed up was the JPEG. Is there a plugin available?
    Thanks in advance.

According to this, LR 4.2 should support it.
It may be an operating system issue if you are connecting directly to the camera via USB. Try to use a card reader instead.
P.S. There are no "raw-support-plugins" for LR (like for Photoshop). Raw support updates in LR are always done by a completely new LR update version which contains the newest build-in Camera Raw (which cannot be updated separately like in Photoshop).
Edit: Correction: Must read: no "raw-support-plugins" (not now ...)

  • Lightroom 5.5 support for 32bit images from merging HDR in Photoshop CC 2014?

Why is it I can create a 32bit HDR image and make adjustments in ACR, but when I save it, Lightroom can't read it? Aren't they basically running the same engine? Is there a work around?

Which file format do you saving your 32bit HDR image?
From LR 4.1, Lightroom can read 32-bit floating-point images in TIFF and DNG file formats.

  • Lightroom does not support burning cd on this computer?

Why am I getting a message that Lightroom does not support burning to cd/dvd on this computer? I am using Windows 8.1 64bit. I have plenty of RAM and hard drive space.

There is no OS X 5.0.5. If you can boot to OS X on your computer select About This Mac from the Apple menu. It will display the version you have installed.
I think the message meant you can only install 64-bit Windows 7.

I haven't watched that video, but if you move photos in your operating system ... Lightroom does NOT automatically find these photos. Finding photos that have been moved is NOT a feature of Lightroom. So, there is no fix for this.
You would have to tell Lightroom where the photos are now located, as explained in the link from 99jon
If you must move photos, move them inside of Lightroom, not in your operating system, or better yet — don't move them, and use Lightroom tools such as keywords and other metadata to achieve organization.

  • Lightroom does not identify jpg images as duplicates

I'm using Lightroom 5.3.  I'm importing images to my catalog from one external drive to another using the "copy" function.  I have "do not import suspected duplicates" checked, but Lightroom does not identify duplicate jpg images as such and lists them as new files to import.  If I import these images they show up in my database/catalog with the -2 designation.  The images are identical in filename, capture time, size and EXIF info.  I have tried removing my preferences file and starting another but that doesn't change the behavior.  I have seen other posts with similar issues but cannot find a solution that works for me.  I don't see this listed as a bug either.  If anyone has suggestions for a fix I would appreciate it.  Thank you.

There is a catalog-specific preference whether to allow LR to adjust date/time values in raw files.  I think that is for LR to add a timezone or not.  Since these are JPGs maybe this setting doesn’t apply, but maybe the JPGs were imported from RAWs that had it set, or maybe the setting does apply to JPGs, now, too.
It would be worth checking the catalog-specific setting and playing with it to see if you can get the timezone to either exist or not existing for both the images, depending on which one has it, now.
If your current system timezone is not UTC-7, then it would make sense for LR to interpret the images without a timezone to be in the system timezone and different than the ones that have a timezone associated with them.
If the pictures were taking across multiple timezones then there probably isn’t’ a good way to get them all to have the corresponding timezone as the other copy you’re trying to import.

    Hello AliHoward,
You may need to completely remove iTunes, QuickTime, and other Apple software from your system prior to reinstalling. The following articles (one for Windows XP, the other for Windows Vista/7) detail the removal process. I'll also link you to the latest version of iTunes for Windows (64bit specific installer).

  • Lightroom Does not Find Photoshop

I just installed Lightroom and have been toying with it.
I have Photoshop CS2 installed in the default location, but in Lightroom, under Edit > Preferences, in the External Editors Tab, it states "Edit in Adobe Photoshop (not found)." The option to Edit in Photoshop under Photo is greyed out.
Is there any way I can tell Lightroom where Photoshop is located?
As it is now, I have set up my Additional External Editor as Photoshop, but I am unsure if it is maxamizing compatibility when I save the file, and I'd really rather know why it did not find Photoshop on the install or first run?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Does after effects cs5 support jpeg 2000 images?

    HI,
I am using photoshop cs5 and after effects cs5.
does after effects cs5 support jpeg 2000 images?
if not, then  do we have something like encoder or decoder or plugin to make this thing work?
    Vinay

I run AE 8 at work, and I have absolutely no problem with Jpeg 2000 stuff.  I don't see why you would on AE 10.
And if you don't have it already, go download the latest version of Quicktime 7.  Don't get Quicktime 10 or X or whatever they call it: it's a train wreck ready to happen.  If you steel yourself to spend an extra 35 bucks, you can get Quicktime Pro, probably one of the most versatile little pieces of software available.

  • Lightroom does not show up in my Adobe CC app

Originally I installed Photoshop CC, Bridge CC and Lightroom CC on a clean iMac using the Adobe CC app.
However now Lightroom does not show up in the installed apps in Adobe CC. Instead it shows it in the list of adobe programs with "Install" by it.
I think this is why its not telling me it needs upgrading from 5.3 to 5.4 hence I cant use the new Lightroom Mobile.
How can I get it to show up in the Adobe CC app ?
    thanks

try signing out and then back in to your cc app.

  • Lightroom does NOT make use of new/fast hardwares!

For those who are considering a new computer here's my experience....
Lightroom 4 does NOT make full use of new/fast CPUs / SSDs!
I’ve been frustrated with Lightroom speed since launch and held on to my “old” Xeon work station for two years…. I recently invested in the latest Intel CPU and IO technology and I'm very disappointed how Lightroom 4 does not make use of it. It's most noticeably sluggish from one photo to the next during editing. This may seem small but when I edits hundreds of images everyday it really slow me down.
See my system specs at very bottom of this post. I don't think there's a bottle neck in performance! I love my new setup and it's a pleasure to use the OS. BUT I'm so disapointed everytime I load up Lightroom. (My typical Lightroom edits are 600-900 sRAW images - I edit down my photos in Photo Mechanic 5! It's just too slow in Lightroom)
Lightroom still take time to load each image when advance from one image to the next (During editing). Isn’t smart enough to cache 100 images in advance let say. (1:1 previews as been created!)
Won’t make use of more than 8GB ram. No matter how big the RAW working set is.
Very slow switching from one working module to another
Lightroom Jpeg export won’t make use of more than 25% of new Intel Xeon E5 series dual processors processing power 12 cores. 6-9 cores are literally taking a nap during export!
I’ve tried everything found in Adobe suggestion link below:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/optimize-performance-lightroom.html
    * I definately tried 1:1 render preview and all of the other jazz found in link directly above!
    * Running all latest firmwares and updates
I hope the next version of Lightroom will actually make use of good hardware instead of adding on more features. We desperately need a snappy/responsive Lightroom for sake of productivity! I'm not here to put down Adobe. I'm a big fan of Adobe and Intel and have been using them for 15 years.
    My Setup:
    Dell Workstation T7600
    Dual Xeon E5-2630 2.5GHz (12 Cores Total)
    64GB 1600Mhz RAM
OCZ RevoDrive 3X2 - 1500MB/s (Boot / Camera Raw Cache)
4 Intel 520 Series SSD in RAID0 with dedicated 1GB Cache SAS/SATA PCIe 3.0 controller (Working RAW files)
Nvidia GTX680 - 4GB VRAM (I know this made for 3D but it has PCIe 3.0 connectivity - Quadro 4000 PCIe 2.0 wasn't any better)
    Drobo-S 2GBx5 (Strictly Storage)
Windows 7 Ultimate (Bare minimum! Just Adobe CS6 suite and Microsoft Office 2010)

Can you copy this to the Feature Request forum so we can vote on it please?  http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family  And then post the link here so we can find it.  It'll get my vote.
There are a couple of others you might like to vote on too, such as using the embedded preview for editing down.  http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom_capability_to_display_embe dded_preview
In terms of workarounds for now, if you haven't tried the 4.2RC yet, you might find the module switching a bit faster.  And for better use of your exports processing power, try splitting your export into 3 or 4 and running them concurrently (i.e. set the first going, and immediately set the second going, etc.) as that'll make better use of the extra cores if your hard drives are able to keep up with them.
