Lightroom Drag and Drop

Hallo,
ich verwalte meine Bilder bisher mit Elemetns 6. Ich möchte jedoch auf Lightroom 2 wechseln (Geschwindigkeit). Ich mache hauptsächlich Panorama und HDR. Also Bearbeitung in Externen Programmen.
Lothar Alb

I dont want to drag and drop dnd, but the orginal files. I do picture mangagement (keywords etc.) not editing in lightroom, so I just want to use the pictures I managed in my catalog to use in indesign quickly. If you drag and trop something from .AI into photoshop for example it does work.
Illustrator and PS are both programs where the image you see has a 1:1 correspondence with an image file.
Since Lightroom is just using the paths of pictures it should be able to place pictures from lightroom into inDesign directly. Same as Bridge does.
In Bridge (as with all conventional digital asset managers), each thumbnail shown, reliably "maps" to a given digital asset in 1:1 correpondence
In order to access the asset that is referenced by a LR image, you can select "show in Explorer/Finder".
A normal OS folder window opens with that source file already highlighted. Dragging and dropping this into another program or folder, will lead to whatever outcome you would normally expect. Of course, dragging it onto another folder will move it in a way that disrupts LR's referencing of that, within its Catalog. But drag-drop operations that COPY this file or generate new referencing or versions based on that, should be safe in LR terms.
A "picture" seen in Lightroom, is not the same thing as a file, it is a virtual entity.
Dragging that thumbnail from one place to another inside LR may have the effect of adding collection membership to that image, or causing it to be included in a list of images to be exported, or whatever, and may also affect the original file's location if dragged onto a different folder.
This thumbnail may, though, merely represent one processing variation (Virtual Copy) that is sharing the use of an underlying file on disk, with another thumbnail(s).

  • How to I drag and drop from Customize Add On using a Wireless Mouse on a Laptop?

I have been assisting a friend in installing Firefox. I have added Add On, but I cannot drag and drop them into the toolbars on the top. The tiny weenie add on tool bar stinks for those of us who are older and have weakened eyesight. How Can I Drap and Drop into the Toolbars on the Top using a laptop without a mouse?

PS. I also tried drag-and-dropping to Photoshop, and it doesn't work either.
I did more research online, and the more I research this, the more it seems that the LIGHTROOM DRAG AND DROP functionality works on MAC but not on PC...
If it is the case, this would be a major annoyance.
Some people said this feature worked on PC in Windows Vista.
I tried running LR in compatibility more (Vista SP2), but this did not fix the issue.
I am starting to wonder if this is a problem with LR running on WINDOWS x64 systems... (I am running WIN7 x64)

  • How do I drag and drop from LR to InDesign?

I read somewhere on a forum (maybe this one?) that you can drag and drop photos directly from LR to InDesign.
I have LR 4 and InDesign CS6.  No matter what I try, I can't figure out how to drag and drop files from LR4 to InDesignCS6.  I always get a "cannot" icon appear in LR.
I try to drag-n-drop PSD and JPG files from LR to inDesign.
    Is it possible to do?
    Thank you,

  • Drag and drop from Lightroom into Premiere doesn't work in Windows

I recently switched from OSX to Windows and noticed that in Windows, I'm unable to drag and drop from LIghtroom into Premiere. In OSX, it worked fine.
I do this a lot because it's a time saver. I basically use lightroom to find the photo or video clip I need for my editing project and then just drag in right on to the Premiere timeline. Now I have to do the extra step in Lightroom of "show in explorer", then drag the file from explorer to Premiere. Not really a big deal but just curious why it works in OSX and not Windows.
I'm running latest Windows 8.1, Lightroom 5.4, Camera Raw 8.4, and Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2 (33)

    Hi Pete,
    You can obtain scripts here:
    http://www.robcole.com/Rob/ProductsAndServices/MiscLrPlugins#MiscScripts
You'll have to edit lua code to adapt for Premiere. Not that hard really (e.g. clone, then change the script name and path to executable..), but may be too intimidating for some folks. If you are one of those folks, go for the plugin instead - it's usable via GUI - no lua code - can probably accomplish the same thing.

Let me know (outside the forum please) if problems - thanks,

  • Why I can't drag and drop from lightroom?

Something I would expect from asset managment soft.  Am I missing something?

While the programming of course could be done, the idea of a function that performs on original unprocessed images seems to violate the whole idea of what Lightroom was designed to be. At least that's my opinion. Of course, the idea that Adobe should do this programming for a relatively small number of people (you're one of a very few people to ask for this, that I have read) seems to be something that isn't going to happen.
I agree, I can't see much reason for drag-and-drop to drag the unprocessed image - in other words, an image that isn't the one that you see when you drag and drop.  I can see that just filling this forum with "why the heck does it do that????????" posts.  I could be wrong, but I suspect that Adobe won't do that.
But if you do want to drag-and-drop the original unprocessed image, you can do it very easily now.  Right click the image, choose "show in Explorer", and then drag-and-drop from Explorer.

  • Can not drag and drop photos in Lightroom 4 map module

In Lightroom4 map module, I can not drag and drop photos onto the map from the filmstrip? I select the photos, and then try and grabbing them to drop them on the map and when I click on one of the pictures to grab, it deselects the others I've selected and only hightlights the one photo,  ironically, I can not even drop the one photo onto the map.

Thank you Victoria.  I thought I was grabbing it on the thumbnail, but I must not have been, I must have been as you said on the border.  Sorry.
Thank you again for the help.

  • Drag and Drop to Change Order of a Collection

I have created a collection and now want to change the order of the photos in the collection. I try to select a photo to drag and drop it to the correct position.
Sometimes I can do this, other times I can't.
If I exit and reenter Lightroom, the problem of not being able to drag and drop is corrected.
Any ideas about a workaround for this bug without exiting and restarting Lightroom?
    Thanks,
    Harry

    Harry,
You have to be at the lowest level of a folder/collection to get drag and drop to work.
If you have 'Include Photos from Subitems' unticked then you can sort in higher up folders/collections, but this only shows items in the actual collection/folder.
If you have images in multiple collections that you want to sort in order, select them and then Ctrl N (Cmd N on Mac ) to create a new collection. Tick the use selected photos box and name the new collection. Make sure it's at the bottom of a collection tree (or on it's own) and then sort inside the new collection.
When dragging, drag from the image itself, not from the border around it.

  • I can't drag and drop from a data CD I recorded

I recently burned some audiobooks files (in mp3 format) as data cd's in Toast 8.0.1. When I go to reload them back onto my 20" 2 Ghz Dual Core Intel I can't drag and drop the files directly into any folder while using the columns view in a finder window. I can do it if I drag onto the music folder and let it spring open down to the level of the folder. I also can drag the mp3's into iTunes and then into the folder. This is not CD related since I used several diff brands.
I constantly update, backup, repair permissions, and do other maintenance so everything is up to date. I have noticed this behavior just since I started to use the program called Audiobook Builder. I am (and have always used) a non-admin user account. When this started a few months ago it seemed to go away with a restart, permission repair, or a logout but now it seems permanant. I checked user permissions on my home folder - I have not added any software since adding Audiobook Builder. Any idea's? I read something about trashing a com.apple pref but didn't try that.
I suspect Audiobook Builder since it changes the permissions and filetype to the iTunes Audiobook filetype but have not seen anyone reference this.

  • Drag and Drop from LR to other applications

There was a thread going on D&D from LR to explorer.
The other appliation problem I have is the apparent inability to drag and drop from lightroom into a file transfer window (e.g., file upload with SmugMug).
The quick collection is an awesome way to organize a storyline of images from a shoot, select only the images needed, and prepare a shoot for upload. However, short of exporting to a folder first, is there a way to just drag and drop the file set from a LR view (filmstrip or thumbs) to another app? This would just be providing file handles, and I would be satisfied if it only grabbed the original images (pre-"develop").
Anyone have any luck with this?
    -- Jeff

No. And not likely anytime soon. Putting a Pointer/alias to SmugMug (if it is an uploader client app, not familiar with it) in the Export Actions Folder for Post Processing from Export is the best you can do at the monemt. To get LR rdits out of LR you have to Export. D&D just isn't going to do that for you.

  • Can't drag and drop in Lilghtroom

I'm using XP Pro. Duel core. 4 GB ram. Drag and drop works in every other program but not in Lightroom. I know at least one other person with the same problem. Adobe tech support didn't have any idea what to do.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

    User Sort Order:
    In the case of
folders, you should be able to drag and drop files within
    any folder that
actually contains files. This should be obvious from the fact that the only time the
User Order option is available on the Sort menu is when you've selected a folder containing files. Anyway, it seems like some of you picked up on the Sort menu thing but didn't join up the remaining dots... Remember, changing the user sort order across folders using drag and drop would involve
moving the file from one folder to another. It's because moving is very likely not what you wanted that the restriction exists.
I think a lot of the confusion derives from the fact that Lightroom currently displays the contents of individual subfolders from higher level folders (i.e. flat view). Hopefully this will be resolved if/when we get the option to disable "flat view".
Collections don't have above restrictions because you're not actually moving the file.
BTW: there is no need to set the Sort Order before moving the files around
    Drag & Drop:
The Mac platform allows you to drag files into and out (Import and Export) of the Grid whereas the PC only supports dragging into the Grid (Import only). I'm still not sure why we have that distinction but it's been around from day one.
Hopefully above helps remove the confusion.

  • Drag and Drop no longer in iPhoto 11?

Drag and Drop no longer in iPhoto11?
I can no longer "drag and drop" selected photos from iPhoto11 onto a desktop album.  Before upgrading I could select as many as 200 photos and drag them onto a desktop album.  No longer.

There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider  jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export. However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • Drag and drop several files

    Hi,
I'm using iPhoto '11 (version 9.4.2) and when I try to drag and drop several files into a folder, it fails.
Actually it just does nothing: the drag and drop icon is created with the accurate numbre of items in a red star, the folder blinks but when I release the mouse, nothing happens.
It fails sometimes with 3 photos, sometimes with 30.
What's more puzzling is that it sometimes works: if I drag and drop of a single photo it always works. And I'm sometimes able to drop 10 or more photos.
I'm running on a macbook pro retina with lion (10.8.2).
Any idea of logs I could look at for some informations, some errors messages?
    Thanks,
    Laurent.

I guess it creates new photos, hence it modifies the timestamps whereas drag and drop does not.

  • Drag and drop request

I was waiting for 1.1 as it was supposed to fix drag'n'drop issue on Windows (a lot of quiet Win-Mac differences in Lr...).
I expected this to fix one of the main issues with Lr that I have. That is: I can send RAW files to Photoshop through CameraRAW (to be used as Smart Objects for example) from every software - 5 years old ACDSee, Photoshop Album/Elements Organizer, Win Explorer, you name it, simply by dragging them and dropping onto Ps. No luck with Lightroom! Lightroom seems to be the least integrated when it comes to this!
But dragging files OUT OF Lr is still not working. In 1.1 there is at least a workaround but it involves copying the RAW files :-O.
I would love the ability to drag and drop multiple files out of Lr.
    Thank You
    m.
p.s. I would also like the sidecar files to travel with the dragged files [a bit like Easy Rider :-S]

Witkacy > "I would love the ability to drag and drop multiple files out of Lr.

    Me: "I subscribe!!"
Put in other words, I'd like to open the selected files in LR (either RAWs or JPEGs) in third party tools. How do I do that?

  • LR5.7, drag and drop not working...suggestions?

Two days ago, drag and drop stopped working within lightroom (dragging a photo/photos from the filmstrip at the bottom to a different folder, or into a collection).  The cursor on the screen stays an arrow when you click on a photo and hold the left mouse button down, it will highlight the image in the filmstrip or grid view, but will not do anything with it.  I've never had anything like this happen before.  iMac, 32gb ram, OSX 10.10.1, LR5.7.

    Paul,
ok, standard support question on Windows: Does this also occur after reboot?
And my question refers to the right click >> Run as administrator option. It was not the question if your login has administrative rights.... sorry for the confusion.

  • Drag and Drop from LR3

Is there a way to drag and drop photos from Lightroom 3 to other applications? Whenever I try, I get the circle with a line through it. For example, if I wanted to select three files and drag them to Photomatix, or to a different directory in windows explorer. I am able to do this in Bridge, but not LR?

I tried that. It works but it has to make TIF copies, which creates a new problem of having TIF files all over the place. I can work around that, but as I said, a pain in the butt when compared to the ease which Bridge makes it.
Also, that wouldn't take care of the moving files problem. I used to move files around fairly easily from bridge to windows explorer, and now I need to go file hunting to move it.
Bridge is a File Browser and LR is a database programme - which means some very different functionality and behaviour, even though they are fundamentally the same programme, bar that difference. i.e. both programme organise your images, develop them with ACR and can then your output images in a variety of ways.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses but can complement each other quite well.
