Lightroom exporting without LR adjustments

I've been happily exporting my LR images, and they have always included what ever adjustments I had made in LR - crop, color, etc. Last week I needed a different cropping of an image. I made a virtual copy, then cropped, selected, and exported only to find that the exported image was the original show, without any cropping or any other adjustments.
I needed the image quickly, so I just opened PS and edited manually, then saved for web.
Today I added some images to LR, edited them, and exported. All the images were original, unedited versions. I've checked the export dialogs, and do not see any options to export without edits (as there is in the "Edit in" dialog).
This lack pretty much cripples LR for me, as far as using it for any serious work. Anyone have this experience? Or more importantly, a fix?

I've been having a similar problem recently in Lightroom. At first I thought it was because I shot an event with fill-flash in daylight and I thought my white balance was messed up because of cross contamination of light. But, since that shoot 2 weeks ago EVERY other shoot (around 1,000 images) have been giving me very weird white balance problems. Essentially, my images seem "greyish" so, I boost temp and tint, I boost vibrance, I try all sorts of tweaking until the image looks passable, but not nearly my typical color and saturation look and feel. The processed images in Lightroom still seem a bit under saturated and just "not right." BUT, when I export them... they're OVER saturated - kinda like the numbers in Lightroom tell me the image should look. So, it seems that the display in Develop mode is under saturated and "off." But, I have no idea how to correctly compensate. I feel like I have some hidden setting set incorrectly - Any thoughts? Ideas greatly appreciated. If a screen grab would help I'll try that.
I'm in Lightroom 2.5 and Camera Raw 5.5
I'm on a PowerPC Mac running OS X 10.4.11

Message was edited by: jjlevan - I came back to post a screen grab from Lightroom and the JPG which looks like the Lightroom settings you see with the tint and vibrance boosted. But the Lightroom image looks UNDER saturated or almost normal.

  • Exporting without embedding profile

I want to export some files for printing by a service bureau using a custom profile which is 1.87 MB and do no not want to embed the profile. The images will then be sent directly to the printer without any adjustments and the profile is not needed. This is an option in Photoshop, but I have not found a way to do this in Lightroom. Any help would be appreciated.

Depends on the lab or service. In CMYK workflows, folks by and large just send the numbers within the data to the device as is. The only use for an ICC profile would be if someone wants to open the image and view it correctly (or edit it). In such workflows, it is common for such shops to receive maybe hundreds of output ready CMYK files. Even at 1mb per image, it adds up. Even so, unless bandwidth is an issue, I still recommend an embedded profile. In the very old days (1990’s) some old RIPs would barf on an embedded profile so people stripped them out. I seriously doubt those RIPs are still running and if so, I’d be worried to work with such a shop.
Lab’s that can accept output ready RGB should work the same way. But there are far more labs that expect sRGB and if the OP sent data in something other than sRGB, the front end would make a mess of the output. You’d want an embedded profile assuming the front end can even recognize it and pop some alert.
Perhaps I should have mentioned that I am not dealing with a full service lab, but rather my local Costco which has custom profiles on DryCreek.com. The local personnel do not know a lot about color management, but there is an option on uploading to print the files with no adjustments and they are sent directly to a Fuji Frontier printer. I do most of my more important printing with my Epson 3880, but send small prints to Costco and have have good results without embedded profiles saved as such from Photoshop.
I have sent some prints to CostCo using their custom profiles and left the profile in place.  The CostCo I used simply ignored the embedded profile.

  • Exporting tiffs with adjustments including 4x6 crop

I have Lightroom 1.2 and have (finally) made adjustments to many tiff photos. All are tiff scans and all were different sizes until I used the crop adjustment in Lightroom. I've also made contrast, levels and other changes and all have been cropped to 4x6.
Now I would like to simply select all the photos I want to export and have them exported with Lightroom adjustments. I've tried exporting but they are exported without adjustments. I've searched in the Help and on the web and still can't find any instuctions about how to export them with adjustments.
I'd like to export them all as cropped 4x6 pictures so that I can slap them on a DVD and get my local photo shop to print them out as 4x6 format so that I can build a couple or real-world photo albums for my two brothers.
Can this really be that difficult to do? I sort of figured that Lightroom would be smart enough for me to be able to do that. I've been able to print to my own printer (with adjustments) from Lightroom itself so why is it turning into an uphill battle to simply save them all as adjusted 4x6 tiffs?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

A very good suggestion and one I would never have considered. My local is only charging about £15 for 100 prints though so it won't be an entire disaster if they don't pan out. It is amazing. I bought an Olympus P-10 and was using it to print but since introducing that model the media has trippled in price and I did the maths the other day and worked out that I was paying twice as much per print as my local charges. It is a nice printer but unfortunately the bottom line for me is cost. I tend to buy kit in 2s and so I have another printer under my bed (for backup) but it looks as if that particular purchase was a white elephant.
Thanks again. Very decent of you both to have repled so fast to my question. You guys are 5-8 hrs behind in the good-old land-of-the-free but it is late here in the UK. I'm only up because I'm watching the shuttle lauch and listening to the on-board live audio via NASA TV. I thought (when I posted) that I'd check my Mbx 2mrw but am so glad I checked it out 2nite.
Hope all goes well with the mission. God bless America. Keep it free as a beacon to the rest of the World.

  • Lightroom Export Action and Automator

Hi. Have an interesting anamoly that I hope someone an explain to me. I am trying to leverage Adobe Lightroom's export preset post-processing option to help in importing photos into iPhoto (where I can make easy use of the .mac photocasts). I created an Automator workflow comprised of the following actions: 1) Get Specified Finder items (with the export folder from Lightroom selected) 2) Get Folder Contents 3) Import Photos into iPhoto (with the delete source option selected).
I placed the Automator app, named "Import to iPhoto" into the Lightroom "Export Actions" folder and selected it in the post-processing drop down in my export preset. When exporting from this preset, the file(s) are exported as expected, however, for some reason the Automator action imports duplicate files into iPhoto for each photo exported. If the photos are exported separately without the post-processing export action, and then the Automator action is run manually, there are no duplicate files imported. Does anybody have any ideas what might be occuring here?

  • Lightroom export seems desaturated

    Ok, I'm stumped.
Lately, I've noticed that the pictures I'm exporting out of Lightroom (5.4) seem very desaturated. This problem has been going on since before I upgraded to 5.4
Now my first thought is obviously color management, but here is the weird part: pictures that I've previously exported now look less saturated now too... In other words, a picture that looked great exported a few months ago looks drab after a new export (no new adjustments) when viewed side by side on my iPad. What could've changed?
Additionally,  I can globally adjust both vibrance and/or saturation to ridiculous levels on a file and the exported files still look duller on export than I would expect.
    Any ideas?

here is a sample. These pictures were from the same file (no adjustments) - just exported several weeks apart.
Another perplexing clue. I attached individual versions of the above two files to this discussion board and posted - they looked identical so I deleted that post thinking I was loosing my mind. I send both files to myself in an email then looked at them on my iPad and iphone. I could clearly see a difference. So I used a collage app to put the pictures side by side and sent them back in an email to my Macbook Pro....I can still see a difference now.
Someone smarter than me can hopefully chime in, but can the problem be with how IOS is rendering recently exported pictures from Lightroom. Again, pictures exported more than a month look the same from computer to device (I have 2 pads/2 iPhones in my home). Yet, the same file exported today looks dull on all ios devices. I should mention that picture sites/apps like 500px are G+ still look vibrant and normal in all ios devices so I know they are able to render color.
I have tried resetting my export presets and develop defaults - neither made a difference.
One last thing, I have Lightroom mobile, and images in synched catalogs look identical on either my ipad to MBP screen. But again, once exported and viewed from any ios device, the colors become dull.
    Thank you for any suggestions.

  • Lightroom Export Color Shift

Exported JPEGs from Lightroom have a significant color shift from how they appear inside LR and PS3, which is a distinct magenta shift and oversaturation.
I have read a number of related posts here and elsewhere that explain the importance of setting up color management correctly in Windows, LR and PS3. I have done my best to follow all this advice and still cannot export usable JPEGs from Lightroom. I am using a Spyder 3 and have carefully profiled my Dell 2408WFP monitor. I am processing RAW images from a Canon 30D into sRGB JPEGs for web viewing, and have set up LR to export sRGB while PS3 is set to the sRGB working space.
I have also read that Internet Explorer and other color-unmanaged applications will display images differently. I understand this, but then it seems to me that every image I view inside Windows Picture Viewer or Internet Explorer on this computer would have the same oversaturation and magenta shift that my Lightroom exports do, but this is not the case. Also, my Lightroom-exported JPEGs have an equivalent magenta-tinted and oversaturated appearance on other computers I use, not just my image-editing computer.
I have set up a web page with example images, screen grabs and system technical information, located here: http://www.dougvetter.com/lightroom
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    >What can I do to get predictable color output that looks good outside a color managed environment? All the web content I look at on this exact same system looks just fine in my browser.
The only thing you can do is to calibrate your screen and export to sRGB jpegs.
On average the images will look the same, however very few will look identical simply because there is a lot of variation among screens. The sRGB standard gives you the biggest probability of getting it right. Unfortunately with the current upsurge in people buying laptops, which have in general a far smaller gamut than sRGB (the purple blue problem is caused by bad laptop screens), sRGB is starting to deviate from the average because the average is shifting. At the same time desktop LCDs are giving greater and greater gamut as your DELL display shows. sRGB was designed to represent an average CRT screen. So the crappy quality of laptop LCDs and the refusal of MS to finally live up to their promise of color management in IE is really hurting our chances of getting the right color in front of people.
What we really need is omnipresent color management and some awareness of computers of their monitor's profiles without having to calibrate, similar to printing profiles being delivered by printer manufacturers. They might not be perfect, but they will be good enough. Lacking that, we can really only try to calibrate our screens and use sRGB for web images.

  • Lightroom Export  Presets Missing!

I have tried the restore presets under preferences and doing a repair as an installation option but neither restored Lightrooms presets. I am using V2.6.  Any ideas on how I get the Lightroom export presets?

I assume that "OP" is slang for "other person."
    I am experiencing two problems:
    1.  Firstly I am missing presets
      a.  By presets I mean
                    a. keyword presets,
                    b. filter presets, and
                    c. custom develop presets.
      b.  "Just missing presets"  constitutes a great deal of effort for me, and it should be for you, since it's an issue that has been raised since to LR 2 and has been raise in CS4 as well.
    2.  I've also lost all my watermarks and am unable to recreate watermarks that actually appear on export files.
For the record I am using LR 3.2 64 bit beta with Windows 7 64 bit
I've been using them for months.
This problem occured yesterday for the first time.
I have backedup, as recommended by LR, several times.
    Restores have not helped.
There have not been any recent system updates.
The only plug-in I use is the export to zenfolio.
The watermark problem is not related to the zenfolio plug-in, I have the same issue exporting to hard disk without the plug-in.
The watermark editor does not show the choosen graphic as it last time I checkede (several days ago.)
I don't understand why keysets are not part of the backup...
Are they not part of the catelog?
Feel free to ask me all the questions you want, but please help me resolve this issue.

  • Can i export without double quotes in data files?

How can i export without double quotes in data files using dataexport commands in MaxL?

I don't know of any way to do any formatting in a straight export out of Essbase.  BSO lets you choose between a columnar vs. free form (really Essbase) format.  That lack of formatting includes removing double quotes.
If you're willing to put up with the limitations (and formatting issues) of an MDX extract to a log file, that approach does not put double quotes around member names.  The same is true in Report Scripts although I have a vague recollection that you can put in double quotes if you want it -- obviously you do not.
There are limitations to the above two approaches, the biggest being that they they are not as efficient as a true MaxL export.  OTOH, you may want only part of a database to get exported out in which case either approach may be more to your needs.
If in fact you do want to do a full export, there are lots of OS-level ways of removing double quotes.  Here's a Windows-based approach:

  • H.264 export without audio creates files that are not recognized in Quicktime or VLC

    Dear all,
I need to generate h.264 files with video only. (short clips for use with a "clickable" catalog on an iPad)
Used the "H.264" category and chose a preset. Unchecked "Audio" so I only get the video exported.
The resulting .m4v file is not playable in Quicktime or VLC or MPEG streamclip.
When I leave audio enabled with the same preset, the file is fine, but as soon as I export without audio, the resulting file is unreadable.
Source material is ProRes 422HQ, audio+video, about 30-40 seconds long.
    Any clues?
    Carl.
    Mac Pro 5,1
    24GB RAM
    Nvidia Quadro4000
    4TB internal RAID0
    OS 10.7.5
    Premiere 6.0.2

Thanks Jeff, I did get that far ;-)
I'm sorry, probably my question wasn't very clear. Of course I can find some technical info about the iPad...
And of course some of the presets in Media Encoder provide basic starting points for encoding.
But... there is also the first iPad, I couldn't find the specs about it on the Apple site. On everymac.com I found:
Apple reports that the iPad supports "H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats."
So if I want to be compatible with all iPads I need to probably stay under 720p30 with [email protected] for H.264
    When I look at
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC
I find (from the example values) that 1280x720@30p is quite near the maximum matrix size. So with 1024x576 I should be ok there. My bandwith of about 2Mbit is also well within range in this case. But what if I want to fill an iPod screen (1024x768) with the highest possible quality video? How do I calculate if this fits the max frame size requirements, where this is expressed in a number of luma samples and macroblocks? What is my max bandwith? The tables says that the "Max video bit rate for video coding layer (VCL) kbit/s" should be <14.000kbps. Does that directly translate to the sliders in my encoding app?
If you look in the table "AVC software implementations" (under Software encoder feature comparison) you can see that some features that are supported in MainConcept, and not supported in Qt. (8×8 vs. 4×4 transform adaptivity, Quantization scaling matrices, Separate Cb and Cr QP control, etc. What are these exactly?)
In Streamclip one can choose to have B-frames or not, in AME there is no such control. Does that mean it always encodes with B-frames? Why would one not want to have B-frames?
A lot of parameters in AME H.264 encoding seem to be set to certain fixed values that are not accessible to the user. Other programs (Sorensen, Telestream) provide the user with access to more parameters. Which parameters in AME are set to what (fixed, non-accessible) values and why?
As I said earlier, Quicktime reports different codecs for what should be the same format but from different encoders. Why? Is there a program that can analyze a H.264 stream and report about it in more detail than VLC/Quicktime?
    etc. etc. etc....
If anyone could recommend an online resouce or a book to learn more about the ins and outs of H.264 encoding/decoding that would be great. I have the first edition of Charles Poynton's (brilliant!) book "Digital Video and HDTV", which does talk about MPEG-2 but not H.264. I saw that the second edition goes a bit more into detail about H.264. Does anyone have the second edition? Worth buying just for the relatively small addition about H.264?
    Thanks.
    Carl.

  • Export without Markup - JavaScript Error (ExtractTemplateXML.js)

Whenever I try the "Export without Markup" function, I get this error:
"While executing onClick in ExtractTemplateXML.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred: At line 78 of file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC\Configuration\Commands\ExtractTemplateXML.js": Exception thrown in native function."
    How do I resolve this?

I know this post is old, but as I was having this issue lately, and managed to fix it - I thought I'd post the solution that worked for me, since I haven't seen it elsewhere.
    In short:
Make sure there are no .zip files in the site you are exporting. I noticed my error was showing up right around when the export hit the folder where I had a .zip file.
Go through and delete all of the /_notes/ garbage folders that DW puts in your source site.
After I did both of these things, my export worked fine.

Some one please guide me the way to exclude them from IMP or EXP?

    Refer to my first reply-
    Dw menu-->Modify-->Templates-->Export without
    markup.
export to a NEW folder, not within this site.
    Then go to menu->Site-->Manage Sites.
Make a new site definition (or duplicate the present one)
Define this new site's Local Site Folder to where you
    exported the files.
You now have two sites- One for editing, with the template
    markup intact.
One for uploading with the template markup stripped.
Note- the template markup is a handful of html comments.
    There isn't any
real advantage to stripping it out.

What I am wanting to do is export without Text a clean Timeline. What would be the suggested route to take? Have tried turning of the Title Role and Exporting and found the text is still there. Why? Suggestions Please or even better Answers.
P.S. Please Apple, Batch Export, Soon.

what do you mean by "role."
Look at the names of the title "clips."  If they're all the same, simply do a find for the name in the sequence with find all.  They will all be selected and hit control-b to disable them all.
When I finish a project, I find it useful to clean up the timeline and move all titles to a higher video track(s) so it's easy to turn this track's visibility off.
