Lightroom exports to photoshop colors don't match.

I have been using lightroom for a while, but just recently started using photoshop. It doesn't matter what color profile I choose during export, red colors have less saturation in every case.
I'm sure there is something really simple I a missing, I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Mike

>I did set the I am using the manufactures color profile
Never use a manufacturer's profile. They are almost without fail corrupt and trip up Lightroom. You need to calibrate the screen with a hardware calibrator. Failing that the next best option is to software calibrate if you have Mac OS X, or use sRGB as the screen profile for windows by deleting the profile from the monitor's properties. This will almost certainly solve your problem. It is either this, or the dual monitor setup (see below)
>If I select Monitor RGB from the proof setup the results are terrible, I need to use the Custom setup, and uncheck "Preserve RGB numbers."
That's normal. That option is basically useless, what it does is show you what the image would look like if you wouldn;t color manage at all. i.e. if you send the RGB data from the file directly to the monitor. This should only work if you have a sRGB image for most monitors. When you uncheck "preserve RGB numbers" you are doing what is called soft proofing. However, since you're proofing to the monitor profile you will not seen any difference than without the softproof. You might try the softproof to the monitor profile (uncheck preserve RGB numbers) and set it to use perceptual rendering. This probably looks very much like what you see in Lightroom. Lightroom uses the perceptual rendering intent for your monitor profile.
>Interestingly, I noticed that the output appears to match when I use my laptops LCD, there is only a problem on my external monitor.
Here might be your problem too. Lightroom sometimes uses the wrong profile in dual monitor setups depending on what monitor you select as the main screen. Also, many windows machines do not deal correctly with different profiles for different screens. Be careful with dual screen setups if they are not the same type.

  • Printing from InDesign and Photoshop - colors don't match

I'm printing the same CMYK image from Photoshop and from InDesign, to a HP desktop color printer. I'm using CS3, all the color settings are identical in both programs, but the printed colors don't match. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    (cross-posted in InDesign forum)

I have had the same problem: an image printed from PS differs from the same image printed from ID. However, I can't very well print as bitmap from ID since the image is part of a spread, including text. I have tried various combinations of settings. I made the PS image to 100% of the ID final size (in the layout). I tried various print dialogue settings (high transparency flattener, medium transparency flattener, color managed, not color managed, CMYK output and leave unchanged ... every combination I could think of). ID does something on printer output. My understanding (at least from CS2) was that ID output to printer uses a PDF format of some sort. I had the idea maybe the ID output did some sort of resampling or re-rendering of the image, but have not prooved that out. I did get some slight improvement in the ID output when the image in the ID layout was put in at 100% (whereas it had been 88% (the original image being bigger than the ID layout size). What I am getting now in CS3 is a clean looking photo in PS, but in ID, skin tones look somewhat blotchy and a bit more saturated. The PS image is better than ID, and while ID is not bad, why is it not as clean as PS? I can definitely see the difference between PS and ID output and know it will show on press, too. Any suggestions?

  • Colors in Lightroom & Photoshop CS5 don't match the files in Windows

I recently sent a file to my regular printer and the photos came back flat and somewhat gray.  When I view the photos in Photoshop and Lightroom, the photo looks warm and colorful.  When I go to Windows explorer and open the .jpg file in a Windows preview, the same file looks just like the photos I had printed.  I imagine I have my color profiles messed up in PS and LR, but I can't figure out how to get them to match the files on my computer.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Sounds like you exported your images in a bigger color space than sRGB (like AdobeRGB, ProphotoRGB) and your printer only processes as RGB, regardless of the embedded profile. Try exporting in sRGB color space.

  • Colors don't match when printing pictures on J4860 all-in-one

When I print pictures, the colors are not true.  It doesn't matter what software I use, but usually it's Photoshop CS3.  I thought it was my monitor - that I wasn't seeing the true colors in my files.  But I've been able to verify that the colors on screen match the subject in the photo.  The prints from the HP J4860 do not match the screen images.  I currently have new ink, and they are new HP cartridges, not generic or refilled cartridges, but this has been a problem through many ink cartridge replacements.

    Hi there.
I don't know if there is much we can do to improve your output.  First off, I want confirm you are using an OfficeJet J4680.  We don't have a J4860.
Could you post an image that is unsatisfying, and let us know what you dislike?  I'm going to involve a color expert here, and he'll look to see if we can do anything.

  • Can't see Lightroom exports in Photoshop

Hi, I'm having some problems seeing exports from Lightroom 5 in Photoshop CS6 on Mavericks. (I just upgraded to the 5.3 RC and 8.3 RC from the latest normal versions and nothing's changed). I'm temporarily using Bridge as a workaround, but it's a little cumbersome.
The only red flag I can see is that the export options dialogue (original / copy with lightroom adjustments etc) doesn't appear except when I use the export to bridge option. I've tried reinstalling before and that didn't help. Has anyone else ran into this issue and solved it?
Edit: I'm using "Edit as smart object" which almost seems better, but it gives me the error message below when I try to close the document:

    Hi,
I think you have to deselect something ! - " a tool is open"
close all tools and then try again and save as jpeg.

  • Colors don't match between PS and AI (CS 3)

CMYK images are displaying differently for me between PS and AI. In PS when they look "good" (and print similarly on my profiled Epson), in AI they look more contrasty and saturated, with a little color shift in the greens (towards blue).
My monitor is calibrated with a Monaco Optix, and I notice the difference between apps both on it and on my MacBook Pro screen.
Image profile is the standard SWOP v2. In AI, the document profile is SWOP v2. "Proof Colors" is unchecked in both apps. (If I check it, by default AI is radically different because it defaults to simulating black ink. Disabling this causes Proof Colors to have no visual effect.)
I asked this already in the AI forum, and the answer I got is basically "they should match, they do for me". I noticed elsewhere on this forum that AI and PS were different in color management, or rendering, or something, but didn't see much info beyond that.
I figured there were enough color hounds on this forum to set me straight.

With a properly calibrated and profiled monitor, and with correct color settings in both programs, trust Photoshop's colors over Illustrator's.
This may have changed in CS4, but in CS3 Illustrator hadn't caught up with Photoshop in regard to color management.

  • Colors Don't Match

When i print a color picture from iphoto or from Photoshop CS3 the colors dont match. Am i only supposed to use color lok paper? I'm using HP Premium Plus Glossy paper. My software is up to date and I did a verify and repair in the color sync utility. There are 136 profiles, it found 1 bad file that can't be fixed. Said the tag size is not correct, has a bad Macintosh string. What steps can I take to get the colors synced? I had a 6 year old photosmart 7620 before the envy, and someone on the forum suggested buying a new printer because of old and outdated color profiles. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @Lommarti
Although HP does not support Photoshop, I was able to find something that might help; How to Convert RGB to CMYK in Photoshop.
If you can print from other programs without any issue, then you might consider contacting Adobe for help adjusting your color settings further.
You can also use the following document to ensure the printer is not at fault; Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP ENVY 5640, 5660, 7640 and Officejet 5740, 8040 e-All-in-One....

  • Pages, monitor colors don't match printed colors

    Hey Everyone,
I'm new to this mac world, and boy do I feel like a newbie. I'm trying to use Pages to print some nice brochures. I have a Savin commercial color Laser CLP27DN, 1200 dpi
When I print the default color templates from Pages, It prints colors just like the monitor, beautiful. When I have a graphic artist send me a high res PDF it prints just like the monitor, beautiful. This makes me think the printer and monitor are synched correctly.
When, I try to print my own designs, the colors are off about 2 shades. And, the photos are a little darker when printed.
The printer supports colorsync. I believe I have installed the colorsync profiles correctly. Since 2 types of jobs print beautifully, I've got to believe it is a pages problem.
Applecare was very little help, they don't support colorsync. It's kind of ironic, I bought a Mac to ramp up my graphic designs.
I'm beginning to think Pages is a low end graphics program, and I should buy and buy a professional package that is not too hard to learn.
Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't know the answers to the things you list, but I had a similar problem which I addressed by selecting all of the graphics the document at once and then adjusting the opacity to 80% before printing. When printed on white paper, it brightened the colors up considerably. It may not be the permanent fix for the issue, but it helped me get the work done.

  • CS2 Bridge vs CS3 Bridge = Colors don't match

I was wondering why a JPG of eyewear with clear lenses shot on a white background and which have no color cast whatsoever displays with a light pink cast in Bridge 2.1.1.9 and displays it's normal 'neutral tone' in Bridge 1.0.4.6 ?
The folder they're in has both CMYK and RGB (sRGB) versions of the same product shot and only the RGB ones display with a noticeable pink cast in CS3 Bridge. High quality thumbnails is turned on and when I open the image in PS10 it's fine. The lens' RGB value in the affected area is neutral and pretty close to 232/232/232. There are no color casts anywhere.
As a test I just created a 232/232/232 box on a white canvas and saved it as a JPG. I've discovered that if I save it as a progressive JPG the 232/232/232 box displays as light pink on a white background in Bridge 2.1.1.9. If I save it as a Baseline (Standard) JPG it does not have the false pink cast. The same test images all display correctly in Bridge 1.0.4.6.
Is this a known issue or something particular to my system?

  • Image Trace colors don't match selected color group. (Mac, CS6)

When I select the Document Library option when making a color image trace, the colors shift in the image but do not match the selected color group. I've tried multiple color groups, and the colors always change, but never match the selected swatches. Is this typical? Can anyone explain this?

After some additional experimentation, I discovered the problem was with images dragged from iPhoto and dropped into an illustrator file. When I placed the files instead, the colors matched the selected color group. After trying several other images using both methods, it appears as if dragging and dropping from iPhoto is a no-no when wanting to image trace and change the colors.

  • Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5 don't work together

    Hello,
I recently updated from PS CS4 to PS CS5 and Lightroom 2.7 to Lightroom 3.
Everything went smoothly and i'm very happy with performance overall.
The only problem that i'm having is that now in Lightroom the "Edit in Photoshop" is greyed out. I can still edit the preferences for this option but i cannot choose the option when i want a photo to go to PS.
I can still edit in Photoshop if i use it as an "another external edit program", but my question is how do i get the two programs aware again of each other?? So i can edit in photoshop as a smart object again. I updated ACR to the latest version.
My computer runs a copy of Win7 64-bit Ultimate.
    Thanks

  • Photoshop color doesn't match other CS applications.

I'm going mental. I've gone thru everything I can think of. My color settings are synchronized across all CS applications. I'm trying to see document both as a soft proof and not. Neither mode improves the color differences I'm seeing on screen. Photoshop displays color TOTALLY differently from all other CS applications: Bridge, InDesign, Illustrator & Acrobat.
In the image below, Indesign is on the left. Photoshop is on the right. Image appears in Bridge, Acrobat and Illustrator just like InDesign. What the heck? Can anyone help? I'm going CRAZY!
    Color settings:

i can see how those color settings can cause anyone mental stress
why are you converting everything to Adobe RGB
why are you using Adobe RGB as your Photoshop default working space
are you embedding profiles in your saved documents
what profile are you "soft proofing"
do you know what happens to your color if you open an untagged sRGB document in Photoshop and your web browser (for example)
the short answer is you have some ICC profile and settings issues you need to understand -- how Photoshop and color managed apps react to embedded profiles and untagged documents versus how they react in unmanaged apps
i also suspect you have at least monitor issue going on -- what monitor are you using -- how did you 'calibrate' it

  • Z1 viewfinder colors don't match captured footage on TV and FCP

    Hi.
I shoot underwater on a Sony Z1 and white balance using the viewfinder to what seems a satisfactory result. However, once captured, the colors of the footage on both the Z1's LCD and its viewfinder simply do not look like the colors in FCP or on any monitor (neither broadcast monitor, nor regular TV).
This is especially exasperating on days when the water has a greenish tint. When I white balance to make it more blue, it does appear blue in the viewfinder while shooting, but then turns out as green on tape (like it actually is).
I'm not able to shoot colors properly if I can't rely on what the viewfinder shows me. We've checked the Z1 manual and tried all sorts of things (color extract etc), but the only thing one seems to be able to do about viewfinder colors is adjust saturation and brightness. Not hue or such. Anyone know details about Z1 color settings?
Or could this have to do with the capture settings? I shoot 1080i50 and use the same HDV-1080i50 Easy Setup in FCP.
We want to avoid color correcting the HDV material too much in post, so I'm trying to get the best result whilst shooting.
    Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

I think Zeb means match the image on the LCD to that on the monitor.
However, remember that underwater you have two issues to contend with: the LCD image has to pass through your underwater camera housing, through water and your mask before you see it. All that affects colour.
Seconds, more importantly, the deeper you go, the further towards the blue end of the spectrum your ambient light shifts. You need to white balance regularly, not just once. When you change depth, when lighting conditions change etc.
    Take a look here: http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/white_cardsdouglas.html
Useful info on Warm White cards.
    And here:
    http://www.timsaxon.co.uk/Uwvideo.html
    For filter info.
Basically, ignore your LCD as a reference for colour and make sure you white balance regularly. Whatever setup you do on the surface will change the moment you're in the water.
Edit: Also, to make life easy, consider topping each shot with an underwater reference chart and correct to that in post:

  • Why when I add/import bridge CS6 photos into Lightroom 5 the photo totals don't match?

I have added about 3,200 photos into Bridge CS6 and many have been edited.  I went into Lightroom to Library/Import/add and only about 2800 were added.  Anyone know why I don't see all of them?  I even double check the import and don't see any new ones that I missed.  Hope it's something simple.

    Found it.
At first I was scared off because LR showed the same amount of photos to be imported the second time as it did before the first import.
Fortunately, the second import did nothing but import the new photos.
    Thanks.
