Lightroom external editor path for Gimp2

I am having trouble creating an external editopr path in Lightroom 5 for the Gimp2 application.  Can anyone help me with the path?

In Lightroom, where you set up the external editor, you need to point the the PSE12 Editor app executable and not the PSE12 application itself. As I am not a Mac user, I cannot provide the exact details.

Adobe now hides the editor - what looks like it is not - you want the editor hidden in the support folder - see http://forums.adobe.com/message/3955558#3955558 for details

  • Mail does not retain correct external server path for Exchange Server '07 even when "automatically detect and maintain account settings" is unchecked. Advice?

Mail keeps resetting the external server path for an Exchange server '07 account when the program is closed and reopened. This happens even though "automatically detect and maintain account settings" is unchecked. To reset to the correct setting I need to disable the account, make the change and save with the account disabled, close Mail, reopen Mail, and enable the account. Then the settings are maintained and Mail works great... until Mail is closed and reopened again. At that point the server path reverts to an incorrect setting. Anyone else experiencing this? Advice? I don't think this is a problem with the Exchange server because this problem did not happen with OS X Mavericks.

This this to fix repeated password requests....
    Open Keychain Access in Applications/Utilities
Search for your Dreamhost accounts. There should be two entries (incoming, outgoing) for each account.
It's not uncommon to find old entries. You might want to delete all and start clean. The Keychain isn't smart and will keep all old entries when you add/change a password.
While you are in the Keychain run Keychain First Aid, Under Keychain Access in the Menu bar.
    Open Mail
    Open Connection Doctor.
If you see red for the account, enter the password again.
If you continue to have problems, delete the account then add it back.

  • PSE12 as a Lightroom External Editor

I have just purchased & installed PSE12 and want to use it as a external editor with Lightroom 4.  I have set up LR4, but when I ask LR4 to edit a photo in PSE12, the PSE12 Editor opens but no image appears.  I had an older copy of PSE8 set up this way, and the editible image appeared just fine.  What do I need to do differently?  In LR4, I have PSE12 set-up as an additional external editor with PSD format, 8 bits, Adobe RGB (1998) and 300 resolution.  I am working on an iMac running OSX 10.8.5.
Thanks in advance for any help with this

  • How do I add DxO 9 as a lightroom external editor?

I posted this in the beginners section but was recommended to move it to more advanced viewers.  I have lightroom 5.3  I want to use DxO 9 from within Lightroom as an external editor, to both convert raw to tiff and make use of the lens corrections.  I want to have both Raw files and tifs created by DxO 9 in my catalog.  I can do it externally then import both folders after I do the work in DxO or possibly do it within Lightroom using DxO 9 as an external editor.  The instructions in the Lightroom help section tell me I can add the program as an available external editor by going to "photo" dropdown and select edit in and then pick the "provided link" which lets me insert a link to DxO 9 but such an option does not appear in lightroom 5.3 as best as I can find.  Is it possible to do this or do I just avoid lightroom until I use DxO to create my altered tif files and then import both folders (tiff and NEF raw) into Lightroom.  I am in windows 8 pc

From LR's Edit In item in the right-click context menu, after you have set it up in Preferences/External Editing, you can send DxO a tiff file with LR's rendering. However you can't send the original Nef and even if you could DxO would not be able to read and implement LR's editing instructions, even if they are saved to an xmp file. And the opposite is true also, edits and image alterations done by DxO can only be brought to LR in a tiff exported from DxO. Neither program will alter the Raw image data directly.

  • External editor used for CSS but not for PHP or HTML - why?

I've successfully configured Dreamweaver CS6 (trial) Mac to launch Sublime Text 2 when I double-click .css, js or .txt files in the Files panel. However, Dreamweaver refuses to open my .php or .html files in Sublime Text 2 - it always opens them within Dreamweaver.
Any thoughts how to overcome this? It's very frustrating.
    Thanks!

    Hi Sudarshan,
I currently am on a Mac using Interarchy and BBEdit. In my new job they use Dreamweaver on PCs. I've tried Dreamweaver's code editor and it is clunky and dated. I won't be able to use BBEdit on the PC and by all accounts Sublime Text 2 looks like a good alternative and it is also available for Mac so I can have a consistent editing environment when working from home.
I have already tried what you recommended but it did not work. I will set back to the original settings and try again. I might try uninstalling/reinstalling.
    Thanks for replying,
    Adrian

  • The Lightroom external editor does not find Photoshop CC. What is the fix.

I have deleted the old preferences file and relaunched Lightroom with no success. I then uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom 5.2 with no success. What is the fix.

Have you gone to LR preferences or just right clicked on the image?
I think if you go to LR preferences>external editing, you will successfully be able to enter a custom preset to PS CC, which should then be available when you right click.
    Wortht a try...

  • Settings for external editors, i.e. Nik

I have started setting up external editor presets for my various NIK Software applications.
But what I don't have a handle on is what settings I should use for such things as:
I'm just guessing on File Format, Color Space, Bit Depth, Resolution, Compression.
I've searched all the great Adobe tutorials but need a basic understanding what I should be striving for and when?
Thanks in advance for you help.

If you're publishing to .Mac put the Easy Grade Plus generated stuff (Guess it's html?) on your iDisk.
    1. Create a folder in your iDisk/Web/Sites folder.
    2. Name it something like 'EasyGrade' or whatever
    3. Copy your EasyGrade files to that folder
    4. web.mac.com/username/nameofthefolder/nameofthefile.extension is the address at which the file will be stored on the web
    Example: http://web.mac.com/username/EasyGrade/index.html
However depending on the file format (what extension it has) it may not work on .Mac as not all formats are supported.

  • Add choice of multiple external editors

The 1.1 enhancements do make LR more usable, but please add more context menu slots (via Preferences) for multiple external editors.
I frequently use two very different tools for localized image editing on TIFFs because they are radically different tools for solving different problems. To choose the un-preferenced editor, I have to first go to Preferences dialog, change the application selection, close the dialog, then launch the editor, then switch back the next time I want to use the first external editor.
I doubt that I am the only Lightroom user with more than one non-Adobe editing tool (noise reducers, sharpening tools, re-sizing tools, etc.)
I have no intention of using Photoshop; the fixed slot for Photoshop is wasted on me and probably many other users.

From my comment in another topic:
[Only allowing a single external editor] is an issue even when using Adobe products. I use Photoshop Elements as my editor and don't have CS3, and LR forces me to use the single "External Editor" spot for the Elements editor.
I wish they'd recognize Elements as my primary external editor and let me call Neat Image (digital noise reducer) as my secondary editor directly from LR. As it stands, I have to open in Elements editor, then choose the Neat Image filter.
I know I could specify NI as my external editor but I still need the Elements editor for touch-ups.
Thanks to the Adobe Lightroom team for reading these feature requests and seriously considering them.

  • External Editor Options Grayed Out

When choosing to edit a RAW file in Photoshop as a Lightroom external editor, "edit the original" is grayed out because there is no reason to edit a RAW file in Photoshop when you are starting in Lightroom. Makes perfect sense. But what if you were trying to use an external RAW editor (a native format editor or LightZone, e.g.)? Would "edit the original" be available then? I understand that the edited image would have to be converted in the external editor before being saved, and wouldn't be saved as a RAW file, but it would be helpful to be able operate on the RAW image in the external editor launched directly from Lightroom. (It would be helpful for me to know in advance because the answer may affect a purchase decision.) Thanks in advance.

Right (and thanks). I do understand that once the external editor operated on the file it would have to converted in the external editor and saved as something other than RAW, as I mentioned in my original post, say in TIFF. My question is only whether I can get a RAW file to the external editor from Lightroom so that the external editor can convert the file, which would be saved and brought back into Lightroom for further processing or printing. That is, if one tries an external RAW editor on a RAW file, will Lightroom's "edit original" option be grayed out or available? thanks again.

  • Cannot change external editor to CS5

I installed CS5 and all went well...it was picked up as the external for lightroom and all was well.
However, then I uninstalled CS4 and now elements(which I also have) is set as the external editor and I cannot change it.
    I use windows 7, lightroom 2.5 64bit.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

I had a similar and some related complications.
I have just just re-installed CS5 again following Ian's advice and the Lightroom external editor preference is now correct again.
As it's possibly of interest to others I would like to mention some possible complications as they affected me:
I had CS4 64 bit (part of Design Standard) on W7 64 bit and also  LR2.7 64 bit
I purchased CS5 Design Std and was provided with a serial number on proof of eligibility for the version purchased.
After checking that CS5 worked for me, I deactivated CS4 and uninstalled.
    1. All of my image related file associations were removed and required manual resetting in Windows separately.
    2. Acrobat Pro no longer worked (serial number/activation) although it had been working with the CS4 suite and CS3 before that. I did run the install again with the new disc that comes with CS5 but I assume that it made no changes and was not actually re-installed. After 3 support instances I was given a new serial number and it now worked again.
    3. LR2.7 no longer found PS as the default external editor for PSDs although my second manual selection to set Ps .exe as the external editor for TIFF files did still work.
    4. I had problems getting ACR and LR edits of DNG files to synchronise.
Some of the complications may be related to the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Ps. Bridge is still 32 bit as far as I know. LR installs only one version of itself, in my case 64 bit.
I suggest ensuring that you install both 32 and 64 bit versions of Ps and then systematically go through updates and preferences to both as well as LR too.

  • Allow external editor file name template to be customized

Currently, only a global name can be set. I'd like to have the ability to set a global name that can be overriden in the settings for particular external editors. For example, if I use the Nik SilverEfexPro plugin as one external editor, it may be useful to specify the external file to be named something like
    <filename>-SilverEfexPro.jpg
                      Dilip

No, there's still no way to rename Masters short of exporting them with the version name and re-importing.
The only way 'Save As' is going to work from an external editor is if you use exactly the same file name - that is the only file Aperture has sent out and it's the only file that Aperture is expecting back.
Saving with a different file name is functionally the same as copying a new file into the Library using the Finder - Aperture has no way to expect it. You'd have to save to somewhere outside the Library and then import it as a new Master, maybe setting up a hot folder in Automator for automatic importing.

  • External editor - open in Camera raw

Can i, when using photoshop Cs3 as external editor, make Aperture open the dmg
file in Camera raw, Just like Adobe Bridge does?
Now, when i open a file from Aperture into Photoshop it just opens in... well,Photoshop!
( Cannot find External editor choice for Camera raw...)
    Yeah,guess i´m stupid.....
    Regards,T

    No, you can't do this.
Currently 'Open in external editor' will always render the image version to a TIFF or JPEG prior to opening it with the external editor.
If you want to send it to ACR, or any other raw converter, you will need to do that yourself, before importing the resulting image (back) into Aperture.
(There's a few threads here which discuss workflows for this in more detail. But they all amount to workarounds for something Aperture isn't currently intended to support.)

  • Customizing filename when using an external editor - can only one filename be used by all editors?

I have a number of external editors defined for my LR 3.3 Win7 application. Within my Preferences, when I customize how an editor, say, Photoshop CS5, handles a file, I can set the name of the edited file - e.g., {Filename}-ed.psd . However, if I change the edited filename for another external editor, say to {Filename}-SilverEfexPro.psd, that filename is used for all externally edited files. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
              Dilip

A side note here; just because it _opens_ the file in your external editor with that name the first time, doesnt' mean that's the name it has
to be saved as.  When you go to save it, select save as, instead of save.  I beleive I have used this technique before, and LR still "finds" the file.
Sometimes even when I don't *want* it to find the file!
    Cheers!
