Lightroom Install Failure

The lightroom 1.1 installation wizard reports an error that it has been interrupted and my system has not been modified. I have re-downloaded and tried several times to install but this error is reported each time.
I have disabled virus scan.
I have LR 1.0 installed.
Any thoughts

To get help determining if you have a true bug or a problem with your computer system, it is best if:
a. You give complete description of the problem,
b. how it occurred and what you were doing when it occurred,
c. What equipment you are running [Win or Mac, CPU, HDDs, RAM, OS #, Desktop or Laptop, Graphics board specs, any other HW you have running.
d. What other s/w were/are you running at the same time,
e. The number of times it has happened,
f. What you have done to diagnose the problem.
Without this data, it is almost impossible to help. It is like your car stopped running and over the phone you tell the mechanic, 'I was driving as I normally do and suddenly it went crazy. What do you think is wrong?'
Feel free to copy items a-f above and include them in any help messages you post.

    Hi,
may be you enter the wrong username or password? Or there is a problem with certificate? The look file describe a wrong user name or password or nm is not reachable. Is it possible to start managed server via Admin Console? Please check nm log files.

  • I have two versions of Lightroom installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

While looking at the "Programs and Features" folder on my Windows 7 computer I discovered that I have two versions of Adobe Lightroom installed on my system. One is Lightroom 5.2, installed on 9/19/2013, and the other is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5 64-bit, installed on 7/5/2014
      - Can I uninstall the older version?
      - Will uninstalling the older version cause any problems with the newer version?
      - If yes to either question, is there anything I need to do before doing the uninstall (i.e. deactivating, etc.)
Any advice on how to correct this problem is gratefully appreciated.
PS; I have the same issue with Muse CC. See: I have two versions of Muse CC installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

    Jim,
I thought it was odd that I had two versions of Lightroom installed as well. I have been able to track the issue back to an apparent "bug" in the Lightroom 5.2 update that installed a second version of Lightroom in addition to updating the existing version on my computers. At the time, I posted about it at Lightroom 5 installed twice on my laptop. While I never got an answer to my question, which was "Is this normal?" I did hear from others in the forum the experienced the same problem and had the same question. As time passed, later releases updated one of the two installations, but did not effect the second. Hence, two different versions of Lightroom 5 installed on the same computer.
Uninstalling the older version solved the problem. Thanks

  • How to change number of retries and delay before retrying after software install failure

I deploy a software to client, but the installation is fail, so it will retry. but How to change the number of retries and delay before retrying after software install failure?
I find "Retry Settings" in "Software Distribution Component Properties". But I think it work for Distribution, not the installation. am I right?

First, are you referring to packages or applications because the behavior is different.
Also, why do you want it to retry a failure? It failed for a reason so you need to fix the cause of the failure first. If it failed the first, it will likely fail the next time for the same reason. In general, ConfigMgr will only retry on transient type
    errors.

I have a macbook pro with only 128gb of hard drive. I have lightroom installed and all my photos on an external hard drive. Can I store my lightroom library on the external hard drive too?

Yes. Find the LR catalog file by looking in Edit/Catalog Settings/General. Close LR and navigate to that spot. The catalog file is the one that ends in .lrcat - move it to wherever you want. Next to the .lrcat file is a subfolder called Previews.lrdata. You can move that over as well, but if you don't LR will generate new previews. Double-click on the .lrcat file in its new home and LR will open with that catalog. Set Preferences to When Starting Up Use Most Recent Catalog.

Is it possible to access a single Lightroom catalogue mounted on a shared drive from multiple computers, each with an individual Lightroom install?
    Thanks.
    Steve Greenberg

No, Lightroom catalogs cannot be on a networked (shared) drive, and they do not support simultaneous multi-user access

    Suggestions? thanks.

Issue resolved with the help of Adobe Support (Mercer).  My problem had been seen in another machine, there were empty folders in the Fonts Folder (Hard Drive>Library>Fonts) that the installer could not reconcile or delete, that was hanging up the Installer.
My fix was to delete the following empty folders from the Fonts Folder:
    AdobeMingStd-Light.otf
    BickhamScriptPro-Regular.otf
    KozMinPro-Regular.otf
    MyriadPro-BoldCond.otf
    TektonPro-BoldCond.otf
And then re-run the installer (be sure to empty the trash).
My advice would be to first read the installer log and look for names of font folders that could not be resolved, then dump those.  Another way would be to dump any empty folders in the Fonts Folder, empty the trash, then re-sun the installer.

  • ZCM Reporting install failure: Wrong OS

Hi, I have downloaded the ZCM_Reporting_10.1.0.iso and would install the server on my ZCM server what is installed on a SLES 10.2 x64 with ZCM 10.1.1 x64. But I got the install message: Not supported OS. Is it true ?

I was also "bitten" by this same problem...ZCM 10.1.1 on a 64-bit SLES 10 SP2 server and when I tried to install the ZCM Reporting Server I got the same message.
It was only when I reviewed the fine print, and I do mean fine print, in the software requirements did I realize that NO 64-bit OS was going to be suitable for the ZCM Reporting Server.
Usually you would not expect to run into trouble installing a 32-bit application on a 64-bit OS but they do crop up occasionally but I was not too concerned in the case of ZCM 10.1 on a 64-bit OS about whether or not the ZCM Reporting Server would install OK. Hey, isn't this stuff supposed to work together? What happened to making IT work as one?
This does need to get "fixed" by Novell and BO because it is a problem that should not exist in the ZCM 10 world to begin with. Shame on them for being so lazy about it.
Novell should have pointed this out IN LARGE TYPE THAT THE ZCM 10.1 REPORTING SERVER CANNOT BE INSTALLED ON ANY 64-BIT OS. Instead they kind of tucked it away in the fine print where it waited to bite us.

  • 11g Install Failure, Listener Error.

    11g Install Failure, Listener.
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect
    descriptor.
I am attempting to install 11g, 11.1.0 onto a stand alone box which has Windows XP SP2 as the OS.
The box is at present not networked and as is not on a domain. The computer name is homedb.
I have installed the loopback adapter on 10.10.10.10 and updated my hosts file, the computer can resolve this to the computer name and vice versa.
Upon installing 11g and the starter database, the install continues normally, succeeding with the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant. However when the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant is run, 89% of the way through an error is thrown as follows:
Enterprise manager configuration failed due to the following error -
Listener is not up. Start the listener and run EM configuration again.
Refer to the log file at C:\Oracle\cfgtoollogs\dbca\emConfig. Log for more details.
You can retry configuring this database with Enterprise Manager later by manually running C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\bin\emca script.
When I click ok on the error message the install completes as normal.
I can TNSPING orcl which results in the following:

I can connect to the database using sqlplus sys/password as sysdba but when I try to connect using

I have re run the db configuration again but it would not start because apparently there was no listener, running the Net Configuration Assistant makes no difference.
All firewalls and anti virus software have been disabled for the purposes of this install.
Do I need to manually register the listener with the database, if so how do I go about doing this?
I have installed 10g on a standalone box before with no trouble, what have I missed here?, any help greatly appreciated.

To answer my own question I fixed this by issuing the command
    netsh winsocks reset
Winsocks deals with windows networking and can become corrupt through installs of software, virus cleaning, etc.
    Hope that helps,
    Adam

  • Premiere Elements 10 install failure on Mac osx 10

I have a copy of Adobe Premiere Elements 10, the five disk set, and keep having the same failure trying to install it on my Mac. I have gone through all the product requirements and made sure that my computer satisfies them, but I still find an install failure at 51%, Exit code 7, each time.
    What can I do?

I had the exact same problem installing Premiere Elements 10 on a Mac from DVD.  Exit code 7 when it reached 51% installation.  I followed the link to "updated installation instructions" provided in this forum by Adobe Employee Jeff Wright.  It works.
The instructions in a nutshell:  DON'T USE THE DVD.  Instead, download a trial version.  When you install use the serial number provided with your DVD.
I find this to be extremely aggravating.  I spent a lot of time trying using the Adobe Support Advisor application trying to sort through the error codes.  Then I spent time trying to get through to Adobe Support (never did get through).  Finally I tried the forum and found the answer here.
I find Adobe to be grossly inadequate in two ways.  First, they put out a product that just wasn't tested.  The DVD won't install on a Mac.  It is as if they did not test their product.  Second, their support is awful.  This is a known problem with a known solution.  When the fault occurs, the Adobe Support Advisor application should point the customer to the "updated installation instructions".  Instead it points to faults that are unrelated so the customer is led on a wild goose chase.
I hope the product will be better than my experience so far.

  • Lightroom installing on C: drive, despite CC preferences install location on E:

Having a problem with Lightroom installing to C drive despite E drive being the preference setting under Apps in Creative Cloud. Have uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled numerous times to no avail. Photoshop installed with no issues to E drive after uninstalling off of C drive, changing preferences in CC to E and reinstalling Photoshop. No problems. Assumed Lightroom would install the same way, but no such luck. Help!!

Thanks for the help Mylenium. You have saved me hours of frustration and wasted time. Just discovered a host of other members who were complaining bitterly in 2013 and 2014. Hopefully Adobe heeds their customers concerns and fixes it in 2015, or at the very least has a pop up window that states what the FAQ states "Lightroom must be installed to your local drive and can't be installed to custom location like other Creative Cloud apps. Lightroom always installs to the default location and disregards any preference you select for a custom location. This behavior is as designed." That would have saved me so much time and aggravation, and no doubt other frustrated members to come.

  • Upgrading and installing failure

I ordered and paid for an upgrade to LR5 from 3.4. I downloaded version 5 to a new Windows 8 machine. Version 3 is running on an old computer. I wanted to install LR5 on the new machine, and fill in the serial number from version 3 for the upgrade. The download will not install as per the instructions sent by email. When I go to my Accounts and check my orders as instructed, my download is grayed out (not applicable) so I cannot start over. The downloads appear to be duds. If I double click on them, I get an error message saying that it cannot run on my computer. How can I solve this issue and get Lightroom up and running on my new computer?
It's sort of urgent, so help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
Thanks for the reply. I tried again 10 minutes later, and Lightroom installed and is operating properly. Perhaps I tried to install before the file had finished downloading.

  • Photoshop CS5 Install failure, but on just one instance of SL (the one I

HI, I know this is a strange place to post this, but Adobe Support suggests talking to Apple, as I have an install failure of Photoshop CS5, the install app won't even initialize, and it's just on one instance of SL. I can install fine on other machines, and other bootable drives, but not on the one inside an imac (late 2008 vintage). Baffling, as the problem must be tied to this one instance...my production one. I tried other users on the machine, but no luck...same problem. I checked permissions, ran Disk Warrior, all of that, still no luck. Anyone have any other suggestions besides using Gimp:) thx,
    coocoo

I can see what's going on with the installer... first it's supposed to create a temp application dir in the user account, Adobe/OOBE/blabla... then kick off the activation and then the installer. Before it get's to the activation part, it blows and deletes the dir it started. As I successfully can install on another boot drive, I tried to cobble together the installation that way, by just copying files over, and got there - pretty much. I just can't activate with my serial number as I am supposed to be able to do...probably intentionally made so - but PS is running in trial mode on my production machine, and full mode on a test machine - ha! If I could just reverse the situation I would be golden. Anyway, I have another call in to Adobe...

  • RE: Install Failure

We have successfully installed the Forte 2.F.2.0 version on the NT
server 4.0. We have less number of services runnning on the NT server
and the NT server should be BDC instead of PDC for the better
performance. The installation on the NT server 4.0 has few other bugs
like, in the process of installation it will through a error message
saying that 'No program manager found' and it won't configure the

    Hi Matthew,
firrst of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
unfortunately you do not give us any information about your system. Please fill in your system's details in "My public profile" in the right sidebar of this page. We need to know as much as possible about your system in order to help (especially: exact type of Mac you use, current system version, RAM, 3rd-party cards)!
Before you start please confirm you have the retail full install DVD! You cannot use hardware specific disks that shipped with another computer.
Repair permissions cannot do it's duty without a bootable system installed. Therefore an empty partition is always grayed out.
Did you upgrade your firmware before you reformated: Mac OS X: Chart of Available Firmware Updates?
Make sure you format your disk as "Apple Extended (Journalled)".
