Lightroom is not recognizing Camera raw.

I have Lightroom 2.3 & cannon 50D camera.
Whenever i am importing the raw files into Lightroom it is not recognizing it.
I have Camera raw 5.1 & 5.4 both.
I am using Vista 64 bit.

I am having the same problem.  I have LR2 and it does not recognize my RAW images taken with Canon 50D.  I also have a Canon Rebel xti, and there are no problems with LR2 recognizing Rebel Camera RAW files.  I installed LR2.5 and the same problem continues with the 50D.
I am running Windows Vista 64bit (Home Edition).  Adobe tech support is no help, they said there are no issues with LR2 associated with the 50D, so there must be something wrong with my camera.... but when searching the web, I have seen others say similar things regarding LR2 and canon 50D.
Anybody out there who can provide some real effective advice and help??

  • DNG files display artifacts in Lightroom but not in Camera Raw

I've been scratching my head over this one for a few days so hopefully someone here can help.  Some of my dng images are showing artifacts in Lightroom 3, see attached file as an example.  However, if I open these images in Camera Raw 5.7 the artifacts are gone!  The artifacts are also gone when I view the DNG in Windows Live Photo Gallery. The images are stored on a gigabit network server with the LR catalog file on the local Win 7 PC.  One other thing I noticed is that for some images (not all) the artifacts will show up in the Library module but disappear when viewed in the Develop module. There are no "damaged file" error messages for Lightroom when viewing the affected files.  I tried clearing out the Camera Raw Cache but nothing changed.
So my questions are:  Are these files damaged or not? Is there a way to fix this problem. Why are they showing up fine in other image programs?  Is there a utility that can verify the integrity of a suspect DNG file?

  • Premiere CC 2014 not recognizing Camera Raw edits on CinemaDNG footage

I'm using Camera Raw (through Adobe Bridge) to correct my CinemaDNG footage. When I import the footage into Premiere none of the adjustments I've made in Camera Raw appear on the footage. Pretty frustrating as Camera Raw is an incredible tool and I'd love to be able to use it with Premiere, especially since they are both Adobe creations. Anyone know a solution for this?

  • Lightroom does not recognize the raw format of files loading from my Nikon AW1 and loads them as jpegs. I know there are updates that would allow this camera to be recognized as shooting raw but I haven't been able to work it out. Any help out there?

Lightroom does not recognize the raw files (necs?) coming in from my Nikon AW1. It loads them as jpegs. I know it is possible to update Lightroom so it knows my Nikon but I can't get it to work.
I would like files to be loaded as .dng.

update by downloading the files directly and then applying them for lr 4 and earlier,  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

    Hi All:
based on the good work of Dorin above (post #19), he did a timeline of various releases of Lightroom from Adobe and it shows that from "version x RC" to "final release version" was around 1 month.
as it is already exactly one month now, it must not be too much longer till they will release the LR2.3 Final Version.
As for what Robert said in post #23, well, there's never any "guarantee" on a problem-free piece of software, or, for that matter, anything one purchases or anything in life, actually!! Yet, one can make educated extrapolations, right? From the range of comments thus far on LR2.3RC, it appears that it is the best version yet of LR2.x. This leads to the conclusion that it is probably a "good bet" that this version will likely lead to the least amount of issues, right? Maybe not "zero issues", but most likely, the least amount of issues from the various LR2.x versions available.
So by waiting, say, merely 1-3 more weeks approximately, i can go directly from LR1.4 (which i've been using for many months) to LR2.3 Final Release Version. It seems like it is a prudent and conservative move or plan.
What do the good folks here think, please?
thanks in advance for helping me to mull this over. If i were a PC expert, i'd be thinking about this less. as i'm just a somewhat competent user, and not a whiz, i thought that a bit of care and planning it out intelligently can possibly reduce frustrations later.

  • My lightroom 4 will not import my files from my compact flash card . It has been working for years with out fail but now there is no import previews and it says the files are not recognized by raw format support in LR

I have lightroom 4 I've had it for years and it has imported my raw files from my CF card without issue . Now when I plug in my CF card to import new files it says import operations not performed and there are no image previews . When I continue by hitting "import" I get a pop up window that states "the files are not recognized by raw format support in Light Room"

Don't feel too bad.  If the D4S has as many menus and custom functions as my Canon 5D Mark iii its easy to get messed up.
If you downloaded from the link I gave you it will be Lr 5.4.   The link was just to show you when the D4S was supported.  The newest version is 5.7.1 and can be downloaded here.  Don't know your OS so you will have to pick Windows or Mac.   Product updates
On my Mac I just run the downloaded installer program (its a full version and not an small update) and it installs the new version and erases the old version.  If you are on Windows you will have to get help from a windows person.

  • Lightroom is not recognizing the files from my 7D mark II.

I just bought the Canon 7D mark II. I did a shoot Saturday and I'm trying to download the raw CR2 files into Lightroom. Lightroom is not recognizing them. What do I do?

Those of us who spend a lot of our time helping other users in this forum get mildly annoyed when another post comes up asking the same question just answered so many times.
I can see multiple posts with my eyes on the first page, and a search turns up multiple pages, so forgive me if I have a hard time believing you searched very hard (if at all).
So, I think the characterization as "dick" is unwarranted (not to mention vulgar & derogatory) - I answered your post, but did include a note of sarcasm and mild annoyance, which was my intent - I wasn't a dick, per se, but I'm glad the note of mile annoyance came through - consider practicing your search technique..

Not at all.  I like good tools, and from everything I read Bridge is marvelous.  I don't have anything against Bridge, I just don't need it.
As a computer engineer, I use my computer for WAY more than just Photoshop.  As such, I do everything I can to have the operating system (via Windows Explorer) integrate things for me.
For example, via right-click or double-click or drag and drop onto icons:
I access my configuration management system from Explorer (Tortoise SubVersion).
I do searches (grepWin) from Explorer.
I compare things (Beyond Compare) from Explorer.
I start Photoshop and other image tools on raw and processed image files I manage with Explorer.
I start my development tools (Visual Studio and a host of utilities) from Explorer (e.g., double click .sln files).
I access my web sites with Explorer (via WebDrive).
I get file paths from Explorer (right click, Send to Clipboard as Name).
I access office management apps from Explorer (e.g., double click .doc or .xls files).
This is an abbreviated list.  Explorer can be a VERY powerful integrator, and is at the center of my computing world at a higher level.  So now you can start to imagine why I prefer Explorer for image work.

Viewing Lightroom 3 settings in Camera Raw 5.7
Before working in conjunction with Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw please set the Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files.  By default Camera Raw will display the image adjustments exactly as performed in Lightroom’s develop module.  However, at this time Camera Raw 5.7 is unable to support further adjustments to the following settings or tools:
Highlight      Priority and Color Priority post-crop vignette
Enhanced      Luminance and Color Noise Reduction
    Grain effects
    Process Version
Lightroom is also dependent on a compatible version of the Camera Raw plug-in for the "Edit in Photoshop" functionality to work properly.  Camera Raw 5.7 will ensure that Lightroom 3 beta 2 will maintain that compatible functionality with Photoshop CS4.

That seems to clarify the interoperability of ACR 5.7 and LR 3.  Thank you for that, Mr. Hogarty.
Now, for the benefit of those of use who are not and/or will not be using Lightroom 3 for whatever reason, perhaps Mr. Chan or you can address the question of whether ACR 5.7 RC has a different or improved Noise Reduction functionality over that of ACR 5.6, and/or whether this will be the case for the final, GM release of ACR 5.7.  Let's leave any and all versions of LR out of the equation for a second, please.
I think I see improved Noise Reduction in ACR 5.7 RC, but I wonder if this is real or whether I've just improved my skills in handling the noise reduction sliders since earlier versions.
    Thanks.

  • Do not open Camera Raw?

Whenever I send a DNG pic from Lightroom4 to CS6, they only will open directly in CS6, not in Camera Raw. Everything is updated. They use to, until I had a blue screen and had to reinstall everthing.

The way it is working now is the way it normally works. There is no need to open the images in Camera Raw because Lightroom has the exact same adjustments. Camera Raw is simply used to interpret the adjustments that were made in Lightroom, and then simply passes the image on to Photoshop.
If you want to open the image in Camera Raw, then you need to open the image as a smart object. Then, from Photoshop, you can double-click on the image layer in the layers panel. That will then open the image in Camera Raw.

    Hi,
I have Lightroom 3.6 and Camera Raw 6.6 but I can't open my CR2 files from my Canon eos 6D
Lightroom doesn't show a thumbnail image and when trying to import it says the camera format isn't supported. But normaly Camera raw 6.6 should cover the Canon eos 6D
    All help is welcome,
    Thanks

No, the older versions are not free.  If you upgrade you will have to get Lr5 unless you can still find Lr4 for sale somewhere as it has been discontinued by Adobe.  You can also use the FREE DNG converter to convert the 6d files for use in Lr3.6.

You need Lightroom 5.2 or later. Which version of Lightroom are you running?

  • Upgrade of Lightroom 4 with newest Camera Raws possible?

I'm still on Windows XP. My question: Can I buy Lightroom 4 and update Camera Raw files subsequently? Or is the only chance to use newest camera raws by using Lightroom 5? I want to get access to Olympus EM-5 Raw files (in addition to EOS 5D MII) and want to avoid for now changing the windows system.
    Any advice very much appreciated!

Lightroom 4 is no longer sold. It would depend first on your being able to find a copy for sale. That said, you would only be able to upgrade your camera compatibility to LR 4.4.1. Any cameras added after 4.4.1 was released would be unavailable to you.
At this point the only alternative that allows you to remain on XP and continue to get the newest cameras is to download and implement in your workflow the free Adobe DNG Converter. It is XP compatible (at least for now) and allows access to the latest cameras, and its DNG files are backwards compatible to all versions of Lightroom.

In that case I would try resetting Bridge preferences by holding down Ctrl as you start Bridge.
Before that, ensure that there isn't a hidden copy of Bridge running under Task Manager > Processes.
