Lightroom isn't only for photographers ...

I just wanted to say how pleased I am with this program's capabilities. I'm a digital artist and I put out large format prints from Lightroom which is hooked up to a Canon ipf6100. Although I use a dedicated software package to produce the art, most of the adjustments are done in Lightroom. The Lightroom brushes are so good that I use them extensively on everything I create and it has become part of the creation process itself. In addition, I run a large fine art gallery with over 3500 images of Old Masters and other categories and Lightroom is an integral part of organizing and putting the final touches on this art. Lightroom has worked flawlessly for me in all instances. There's no way I could even think of eliminating Lightroom from my workflow. Bravo, Adobe. Bravo for a fine program. Do you have beta(trial version) installed for light room? If yes, then uninstall it completely by checking the preference boxes too.
Now restart the computer & download & install from the CC desktop App. It should work.

Only current versions of Lightroom (currently Lightroom 5.3) will have further camera support added.
If you need to work with Raw files from new cameras you'll either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or join the Photoshop Photography Program (to get PC CC + LR5 + extras) or convert to DNG using Adobe's free DNG converter.

Contact sales support by web chat. They can cancel your current subscription and transfer you to the new one if you are within certain criteria. Otherwise you may need to wait until your subscription runs out and then sign up later.

Lightroom 5 from Amazon: Box says "Only for distribution in North America"

I bought Lightroom 5 through Amazon: Box says "Only for distribution in North America. Not for distribution anywhere else, including ... Africa..." I live in South Africa. Please explain. Can I use this product?

I am a full member of Adobe CC with $50/month.
I only use Photoshop and Lightroom so I want to downgrade to new program for photographers.

This offer is only for customers with a standalone version of Photoshop/Photoshop Extended CS3-CS6, you need to have Photoshop CS3 - CS6 to qualify for the new Photography Program so you can only transition from a Photoshop CC subscription if you also have a prior version of Photoshop (CS3 - CS6).
This offer isn't available to education customers.

Switching to the monthly plan for photographers. Trying to downloading the Photoshop CC. What are the steps? Where do I find the app on my desktop?

I have the free Creative Cloud, which ends Sept. 5, 2014. I have switched to the monthly plan. Do I just update the Creative Cloud for just PhotoshopCC and Lightroom 5 or do I have to download PhotoshopCC again?
I tried to download Photoshop, but it asks my to choose the place on my hard drive (C). I can't seem to find it to open it up. I need help. Can someone please guide me through this?

Geez, don't mix up everything! The free CC access may or may not include full access to all apps. Now, with the monthly subscription for photographers, you will only have access to PS, LR and BR. So it seems, you already have all the apps installed, so no need to download anything again. With the beginning of your new subscription, you change the account details in your CC account manager and then either it deletes the apps which are not licenced or you just won't be able to start them anymore.

DVD Burn problem. "Device error - the target device isn't suitable for use"

Hello everyone,
I initially had a lot of problems with PE8. However the nVidia driver update solved most of them.
Just thought it was important to report success as well as failure!
However one problem remains. I get the following error at the 96% mark while burning. "Device error - the target device isn't suitable for use". It is always at the 96% mark and the program is "compiling [something]" when this happens.
Having searched this site I notice that user rgferg posted a similar problem 13 days ago but was redirected to repost in a different place, but never did.
I have tried to burn a 1hr clip 4 times and every time I have selected the slower burn speed (8MB/s) as has been suggested. It seems that inferior media is a culprit, so I have bought some [quality] Verbatim DVD-R media to try in my Phillips SATA optical drive. I am sceptical this will work, but open minded nonetheless. I will give it a whirl when my computer has stopped capturing the VHS I am working on.
Each time the burn failed the disk was automatically ejected and the burn process had actually started and progressed perhaps ~40% or so.
This indicates to me that it is a drive sharing issue, rather than a media issue. Somewhere on this forum it suggests that I go through a 20+ step process and delete/disable every piece of software that can compete with Premiere among other things. IF I do this what do I burn with outside of Adobe? Do I have to get imgburn or whatever it was called? What if I like Nero? Nero 6 has worked great for me for 3 years.
So given I am willing to uninstall my old optical drive burning software, who out there can recommened commercial software that for them creates a painless Adobe burning experience with no errors or conflicts? Perhaps there is another solution that I did not see on this forum?
I am running Windows XP SP3. I have the latest nVidia drivers for my SLI GeForce 7600 GS cards. I have 3 monitors. RAID 0 SATA, 2GB RAM, Athlon X2 5400.

OK been working through the list of 20 things Adobe recommends to fix DVD burn error. No luck yet:
system meets minimum requirements
Project size does not exceed disk capacity
successfully burned project to DVD folder -thus skip to step 8.
8. Using new blank media for burning
9. Try different media and DVD burners. Bought Verbatim DVD-R. Don't have another DVD burner. Adobe's supported burner list is VERY short, so of course mine is not on it.
10. Uninstalled Nero 6. Did NOT uninstall Acronis True Image workstation or Lightscribe. These do not access the drive unless I say so!
11. Have not yet disabled startup items and services. This will take a lot of work and will leave to last. Deactivated Spybot thus far.....
12. Disabled IMAPI CD burning COM
13. DMA if available already set. Haven't set this in BIOS yet. I already think it is, but will check next boot.
14. Updated DVD firmware
15. Already updated nVidia drivers
16. Don't have any other DVD drives to disconnect.
17. MPEG workaround. Will resort to if required.
18. Disable Autoplay? XP only has "prompt me each time to choose an action". I have set this for ALL file types.
19. Have NOT refreshed the DVD drivers in the registry. This step involves uninstalling PE8. Will leave this as last resort.
20. Visit forums to see if other have the same problem. Hi guys
So still working through some of the items above.
Can anyone direct me to advice on how to write the encoded files sent to the hard drive, or the VOB files that PE8 failed to burn to a disk? Will the former work with DVD menus?

How do I keep a page as my home page when dragging icon to left of URL to house image & confirming that I want it as home page works only for current session, so when Firefox next opened, I end up with some stupid search page which McAfee doesn't like?

A couple of days ago, I connected to the Internet as usual & opened Firefox, only to be greeted by an almost blank screen with a Google-type search box in the middle & this message from McAfee:
"Your default search settings have changed. This may pose a security risk. Would you like to restore them to McAfee Secure Search to provide a safer searching experience?"
instead of my usual home page (BT Yahoo). I naturally clicked on the "Yes" option in the message, but rather than restoring my BT Yahoo home page, all that did was to insert the McAfee logo to the left of the search box in the top right-hand corner of the screen. The first time it happened, I had to search for the BT Yahoo page & then followed the standard procedure for setting it again as my home page. It worked only for that session: each time I shut down Firefox or restarted my computer after that, all I got was the blank "search page" & restoring the previous session was the only way to get back to BY Yahoo. How on earth do I make the home page setting permanent?
As far as I'm aware, I have done nothing to alter my search settings. However, I am anything but computer-literate, so I may have done/pressed something without realising it, but trying to understand what is now happening is far beyond my limited IT skills.

Inspection lot should be created only for particular vendor

Can anyone please help in achieving the below scenario:
*Material has been assigned to the inspection type A (one time inspection) has been set as preffered and active in the inspection set up in the material master.
*Quality level has been created for material and vendor such that inspection should be carried out when next stage is 1 and no inspection should carried out when next stage is 2.
*Tasklist has been assigned with material and vendor .
Material can be supplied by different vendors,For this material, inspection should be done only for one vendor and for other vendors there should not be any inspection to be done and no inspection lot should be created.i.e Inspection lot should be created only for one vendor say AA whereas now inspection lot is getting created when goods receipt is done for the purchase order with other vendor BB.
My requirement is the inspection lot should not be created when goods receipt is done with other vendors say BB except AA.
Is there any other way other than using quality info record to achieve this.
I can try with DMR but the thing is there should not be inspection lot created while posting GR.
can anyone suggest me any other way to achieve this requirement.

There are user exits when you create an inspection lot. One of those could be used to suppress the inspection lot. Have you looked at these? Have you researched any QM user exits yourself yet? This isn't the first time this specific question has been asked over the years.
It's not hard and there are lists of QM user exits available all over the internet.
Please do some research.
You can also assign vendors to inspection plans with a DMR that requires one inspection, and than after that creates all skip lot inspections which you automatically close by a batch job. The first lot can be manually forced closed. Thereaftter all receipts would be skipped. Not 100% but pretty darn close. This requires that you know which vendors to assign to which plan. Probably as much data maintenance as maintaing the Q-info records.
And yes.. your client needs to come up with better reasons than "I don't wanna..". It's part of a consultants job to convince them.

CC for Photographers, what to do with CS6

Hi all,
I was a user of Photoshop CS6 but decided to subscribe to the CC for Photographers offer last year. The offer required ownership of a previous CS package so I was fine. However, now I'm using Photoshop CC and Lightroom I have no use for CS6.
I could sell on CS6 and transfer my ownership of it but would this prevent me from continuing my current subscription into a second year? It seems a waste to have it hanging around if I'm not using it and Adobe no longer require to see it for the subscription.

Welcome to the club. We all have these old versions lying around.
You can't legally sell it if your current license is in any way tied to it.

I stupidly upgraded the software to my Iphone 3s and now it won't connect to my Mac which is a PowerPC and the Itunes update is only for Intel Macs so......now what?

well I stupidly upgraded my Iphone 3s to 6.0.1 and now it isn't compatable with Itunes but I run a PowerPC and the itunes is only for an Intel Mac so.........now what? It's more important for me to have my Iphone communicating with my older Itunes so what older software do I need for my phone since I'm not buying an Intel Mac.My Protools would not like it.

I Nearly bought from Amazon too but I found a thread from Adobe stating that the only recognized outlet for lightoom is themselves and other outlets serial numbers will not be guaranteed.
THat at was sufficient for me to buy direct from Adobe, hope you get it sorted.
