Lightroom Mobile Android - Use SD Card?

Firstly, thank you for getting Lightroom Mobile for Android out - it's very welcome!
A couple of very basic questions, if I may:
How do I make Lightroom Mobile for Android use the SD card for its data cache?
Also, do you have a timescale for fixing the bug that Lightroom Mobile cannot be installed to SD card?
Many thanks

Who said "actively code out"?
Nobody had to - some of us know a little bit about Android already...
Lr Mobile works with Android 4.1 and up.
Any Android device that Lightroom Mobile currently runs on, defaults at the OS level to allowing write access to SD cards. For Lr Mobile not to be able to write to the SD card, someone had to code the ability out.
The post here: Re: LR Mobile uses wrong storage space on my HTC One S (Android 4.1.1) from Rahul S is right, I reckon:
"Since Lightroom app does not support the sdcard, it's most likely the app is configured to use only "App space" to install as well as for its storage "

  • How to stop unwanted photos from being imported to Lightroom Mobile Android

Hi, I am a subscriber to the Adobe Photo package (LR and PS).
I have started using LR mobile recently on my Android phone. I found that if I turn on Auto Import for a collection, it import more than just pictures taken by the camera. Any pictures that is added by, eg., WhatsApp, it will also be imported. Is this the intended way it works? How can I control what folders LR mobile will "watch" for imports? !

Thanks, Jim. Android operates a bit different from IOS. It has a camera folder, which contains all pictures taken by the Android camera app. If there are other apps that can take pictures, they will most likely appear in their respective app folders (depending on how the app behaves). And then there are other apps that does not take picture but will receive pictures, eg., the whatspp app. when someone send you pictures. The Whatsapp folder exists outside of the Camera folder (or picture roll, if you want to call it).
To me, the best way to handle this, is for the user to have control over which folder to sync, which not to. Eg., the Google+ Photo app, which sync pictures from the phone to Google+ (sort of like iCloud) lets you select which folder to sync. It will, very cleverly prompt you whenever it detects a new folder that contains photos (eg., after installing a 3rd party camera app or apps like Instagram that have its own folders to save photos related to them) and you can decide whether you want these new folders to be sync or not.
I hope to find out how LR mobile interact with Android because, apparently, it is not scanning the complete phone for pictures because, I found that there are temp folders that are used by email programs etc., that contains small gif/png/jpg files that do not appear in LR mobile. I wonder how LR mobile makes the decision.
    Anyone having similar issues?

  • Lightroom Mobile Android - Save to Gallery size

When I select "save to gallery" after editing some photos I've imported from my Android phone storage - 6000x4000 px photos - I have a couple problems. One, I have to select it twice to get anything stored, which is slightly annoying considering that it won't over-write a stored image if you happen to have selected it three times. The second, which is far more annoying and absolutely a deal-breaker, is that it's storing images with a 2048 pixel longest side. That's the 'smart preview' size, isn't it? I don't need the 'smart preview' size, I need the adjustments I've made applied to my actual image, so I can send it off to clients.
Lightroom dev/sales team - if you would like to finish your product so I don't waste an hour of editing, that would be great. As far as I can tell, my time has just been wasted, and that doesn't make me feel particularly good about what you're selling.
Alternatively, if I'm wrong and there's an export setting somewhere, great! I'd love to know where it is.

I'm not to clear on what you are doing and the purpose.. can you explain a little more please??

  • Lightroom mobile android keeps crashing anytime i try to add photos

The mobil app worked fine for a day but now it crashes as soon as I try to add more photos.  I have a Samsung galaxy s5.

I just dowe loaded the 1.1 version today.  I had whatever the previous version was for the past week but I was having this issue while on the 1.0 version.  I was able to load photos no problem and then one day it kept crashing.

  • What is Lightroom Mobile using iCloud for?

I was getting messages that my iPhone couldn't back up to iCloud because I had run out of space, and found that Lightroom Mobile was using 7.1G of space.  I was under the impression that LRm used Adobe CC for all it's syncing, and I'm wondering what it's using iCloud for (and if it's safe to delete it through Settings -> iCloud -> Storage and Backup -> Manage Storage)?
Not sure if it's relevant or not, but I did have the option to backup the camera roll to Lightroom enabled.

Is your Macbook Pro running 10.7.2? This is required.

  • Lightroom mobile for Android devices

    Hey guys,
before I ask the Facebook communities, I try to collect some information here.
I have a subscription for the Creative Cloud.
Afaik, this subscription includes Lightroom Mobile. But: please correct me, I cannot run Lightroom mobile on my Samsung Android tablet? Where can I find the download?
I pay for it. In Germany about 12 EUR/m. This is about 15 USD. And I don't give somthing else on the general conditions and terms.
Android is the most popular operation system world wide. So I guess I am just to stupid to find the download in the cloud...
Can anybody provide me more information? That wo be great. Thanks in advance.
    Jörg

    Hi Jorg,
This is actually a question for the Lightroom forum: Photoshop Lightroom. Here is a link to Android Google Play download: Adobe Lightroom mobile - Android Apps on Google Play

  • Why can 't I store images on my SD care in Lightroom mobile for Android

I don't understand why I can't store images on my SD card. I get that a mobile app can't ever have the same functionality as the desktop version without taking up all the memory, but what on earth made someone think it was a good idea to store images in memory that is not only highly limited, not upgradable, but also used by other apps and more importantly the OS. Why can't I store images on the MicroSD card. That thing can be 128gb which is enough storage to work on a decent collection of images.
I would love there to be some more control over aspects of the image, but what there is works well. It also syncs effectively and there isn't that much lag between each event, but what happens when I need to edit 50 images from a device I keep in my pocket [which theoretically should be viable]?
The most useful feature for me is processing images I've taken with my phone, and syncing them back to Lightroom...
Please tell me that external storage is going to be added?

    Hi canondude!
    Thanks for posting.
Ho are you bringing the video clips over to your computer?  Are you connecting the camera or are you using a card reader?  What program are you using to import the video clips?

  • Those who purchased Lightroom outright can not use Lightroom Mobile without a subscription?

This seems quite odd that the licence does not include the Android platform and Adobe force the purchase of their CC subscription.

As for storing data in the cloud I know of at least one big corporate that stores a lot of their data in the cloud. I was surprised too.
If the company in question is not one of the owners of the cloud, then I would share your surprise.

Your final point about losing one's catalog if the internet goes down doesn't make sense to me, if I understand you correctly.
My catalog remains on my PC along with the LR software.  LR Mobile uses the internet to sync some of the information stored within it with mobile devices.  If I lose the internet I lose communication between the devices but not my catalog.
I'll try to clarify. To use Lightroom Mobile, a Creative Cloud Photography Plan is a minimum pre-requisite costing (about £8 a month where I live). If that is your only license agreement, if you do not own a perpetual license of Lightroom, I can see subscription ending scenario being triggered in the event of an extended internet blackout or a combination of events the designers did not think of. This is an interesting readRe: Top Ten Questions About Creative Cloud.
Take 3 scenarios, all without a perpetual license:
    a) you do not own a perpetual license and are on a trip, a field trip, without internet access for more than 7 days and you are using LR on a laptop, the 7 day period grace gets triggered. Let's assume that you are offline for more than 14 days, you might very well loose access to your catalog but not to your files unless you get internet connection (good luck if your visiting certain parts of the world)
    b) you stop paying your subscription, you lost access to your catalog
    c) for reasons now unknown to us we loose internet connectivity for a month or the Adobe servers are unreachable, you lost access to your cataog
What is in your catalog? You keywords, collections, saved prints, possibly books, and crucially any adjustments made to your files. So loosing your catalog = loosing all your hard work.
I have been on trips with extended periods without internet connectivity but had my camera, laptop and LR installed on it; photography was the whole point of the trip. Without a perpetual license I would have lost access to my catalog more than once. As for c) not happening, I am old enough to remember the year 2000 problem and the mad rush to fix all of this computer programs that only supported 2 digit years and were not meant to have been in use 40 years after they were wrote.
I fail to understand why we have to design systems that must have access to the internet on a regular basis. It makes the internet a single point failure.
To sum up, you must own a perpetual license not to suffer a subscription ending scenario.

  • I have Lightroom 5.5 as standalone app on my laptop and I want to use Lightroom mobile too. But I am not an Adobe CC subscriber. Can I use LR mobile? Right now it's telling me it's on trial and I have only 17 days left.

I have Lightroom 5.5 as standalone app on my laptop and I want to use Lightroom mobile too. But I am not an Adobe CC subscriber and I don't have Photoshop CC. Can I use LR mobile? Right now it's telling me it's on trial and I have only 17 days left.

But I paid for my Lightroom 5.5, LR Mobile is an app for LR5, isn't that unfair not to allow me to use LR Mobile? Adobe should change this policy.

  • Is use of Lightroom Mobile included with Creative Cloud Student and Teacher Edition?

I am enrolled in the Creative Cloud Student and Teacher Edition. However; Lightroom 5.4 on my mac says I can only use Lightroom mobile for a 30 day trial period. It seems to me my Creative Cloud membership doesn't entitle me to the use of Lightroom Mobile. Is this indeed the case?

    http://www.adobe.com/products/lightroom-mobile/faq.html
Does Lightroom 5 include access to Lightroom mobile?
Lightroom mobile is included as part of the following Creative Cloud membership plans:
    Photoshop Photography Program
    Creative Cloud complete plan
Creative Cloud Student and Teacher Edition
Creative Cloud for teams complete plan
If you have access to Lightroom 5 via your Creative Cloud membership, then you have access to Lightroom mobile.

  • Using Lightroom Mobile as travel downloader/editor

    Friends,
I'm a new member of the Lightroom family.  I'd like to use Lightroom Mobile while traveling whereby I download RAWs (or RAWs and .jpegs) to my iPad, edit the images on my iPad, then easily sync/transfer those edits to my computer when I get home.  Is that possible?
    Thanks!
    Steve

I don't think it matters that the iPad isn't colour managed (and LrM isn't designed for it). OK, it might if you are brave or stupid enough to make exhibition quality prints without reviewing the image on a real computer. Instead the adjustments on the iPad are ball park, equivalent to Quick Develop, they give you time to think about the image, try out crops, rate and flag etc. Your time in front of a monitor is then spent on fine tuning.
An alternative workflow is possible if you get access to a real computer while you're travelling and if it has decent upload speeds. Log into your lightroom.adobe.com in a web browser and drag the photos from Explorer/Finder into a collection in the browser window. The raw file then uploads, and will be synced down to your computer when you get home. You can then make adjustments in LrMobile and avoid kludges like Syncomatic.
Personally, I think the small laptop is still the way to go. For now anyway.

  • Using Lightroom Mobile to sync photos to desktop – proper workflow?

Just wondering what people suggest as a workflow for importing photos taken on a cameraphone into a Lightroom library.
I want the photos to be saved into the same folders on my hard drive that the rest of my photos go into (Pictures > 2014 > 8 > 3 etc). Using Lightroom Mobile and syncing with the desktop app works well, but the files aren't saved inside my library, are they ...
Is there a way i can do this without physically importing them?

    Hi,
it would be interesting to know exactly what you are doing here.
Does it mean that you upload the images from your Lr Desktop?
It might take a while before the sync is done.
Which version of Lr are you using?
If you compare Lr Mobile with lightroom.adobe.com - is there any difference?
Does it help to update Lr Mobile to 1.2.1?
    Thanks,
    Ignacio

  • I have an expired Lightroom Mobile trial and I have installed a trial version of CC. When I try to use LR Mobile I cannot get beyond the trial expired message. Can anuone help?

As it says I cannot use LR Mobile and I have no confidence that if I subscribe to Creative Cloud that the restriction will go awaY!

Please refer to Adobe Lightroom Mobile FAQ
The trial has already been used for light room.
