Lightroom not fix hot pixels from my Nikon D7100

Hi there.
I have a problem with my cam D7100: there are tons of hot/dead pixels on the sensor.
I am going to bring this cam to the service center.
But I have a lot of images captured with this cam, and need to remove hot pixels from them.
One my friend say about auto-removing in Lightroom.
So I try Lightroom 4.4, 5.0, 5.2. No one can remove hot pixels.

Is this operation going automatically, or I need to chose some tools or options in Lightroom?
Please, help me somebody, cause thouthands of images are flaking!!!
Thanks a lot!

I understand, that I have camera's sensor issue, but I can't understand why Lightroom not "repair" that images?
LR actually does more than find and repair 100% level "stuck pixels," it also finds and corrects low-level hot pixels and higher-level "random" hot pixels. The problem is that you have "many" higher level hot pixels and LR's processing algorithm thinks they're image data. A different raw processor may work better or worse. Feel free to "trial" any of them and report back here what you find. Even with my 600D set +2EV higher in exposure (ISO 100, 1/30 sec. versus ISO 200, 1/250) your noise levels are much higher. IMHO you've got a defective camera!

Elements 11 will not process RAW files from my Nikon D7100. Ca anyone help?

My version of ELEMENTS 11 contained an out of date Applications Manager and would not look for updates. After I discovered this (involving much trawling on different websites) I downloaded an up to date version which found Camera Raw v7.4. Happily, this works. Version 8 is not yet available.
    Anyway, thanks for your help.

  • LR 3.4.1 does not filter hot pixels from Nikon D7000

Lightroom has so far been able to filter hot/stuck pixels from my old D70s raws quite well. For some reason however, it doesn't seem to recognize them in raw files from my D7000 and noise reduction leaves them completely untouched.
The camera doesn't really support mapping (except through potentially multiple multi-week customer support roundtrips), and the built-in noise reduction for long exposures effectively doubles the time per picture. It'd be really useful to have mapping from a static black frame in LR, or a despeckling/denoising method that picks up the "new and improved" stuck subpixels.

There were reports of "hot pixels" when shooting videos:
    http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/22/nikon-d7000-firmware-update-released-cools-down-hot-pix els/
    ....and with still images:

    http://www.microstockgroup.com/cameras-lenses/nikon-d7000-sensor-problem/
There is a firmware update to fix or minimize the issue with videos, but that won't help your RAW still images. I downloaded your image file and most of the hot pixels are actually groups of 3-5 pixels at 150-180 level (out of 255) viewed in PS. I'd return it if you can, or take it in for repair under Nikon warranty. I am sure Nikon is well aware of this "quality control issue" (i.e. bad sensor chips).....Not acceptable! I tested my less expensive Canon 600D at 30 sec. and ISO 1600 and found no hot pixels above 35, all of which clean up nicely in LR with minimal luminance NR.

  • ACR isn't fixing hot pixels

I use CS3 ACR to develop my .nef files.  I have a new 1x3 red hot pixel, with a bloom around it.  A line of reduced luminance extends across 1/2 the picture, from the hot spot to the edge.
I can't tell if the spot is reduced, but it is not removed.
    Any ideas?

I don't think that ACR will automaticly fix hot pixels if that is what your asking. But from your discription I would be worried about my camera if I was you. that sound a lot worse the a stuck pixel.

  • How can I open raw files from my Nikon D7100 in CS4 or CS5?

How can I open raw files from my Nikon D7100 in CS4 or CS5?

    Andy,
In the simple and short form, what happens with the ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) module is that it gets updated with regularity, to accommodate the camera mfgr's. changes for their newer models. That ACR works within the host program, such as Ps, PsElements, Lightroom, etc.. At a point, Adobe ceases to support older host program versions. When that happens, the user has a few options:
    Upgrade the host program version
Use another host program, such as PsElements or Lightroom
Use the free DNG converter, per Curt's suggestion. That is not host program dependent
Glad that the DNG Converter works for you.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

I can open NEF files in Camera Raw but Im not seeing tumbs in finder !
Also I cant see them in preview too.

Well, I don't know what the problem actually is in the first place, it should work as is, I think something is messed up with the present driver and replacing it would perhaps get around that problem.
It seems like I'd be adding one more layer of complexity to the Vista machine...
Not sure how the Vista machine is involved in this, since these are drivers for the Mac.
Though to involve the Vista Machine, One option not mentioned yet is MacDrive for you PCs... allows them to Read/Write HFS+...

  • Lightroom not supporting Raw files from Nikon D5200

hi only new here ,has any one else found this problem ,just bought the Nikon D5200 and i always shot in RAW but have now found after my first shot with the new camera that Lightroom 4.3 wont support Raw Files from this camera

    Yes it does.
    See here: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Scroll down to Nikom (it goes alphabetically by vamera makers), tne D5200 is listed as being supported in Lr 4.3.
What does Lr say? Do you get an error message?
Also, did you use an older version of Nikon Transfer or Niko n View? There is something in these older versions that makes the files not readable for Lr.
Update any Nikon software you might have.

  • Why does Camera Raw 6.7.1 w/ Photoshop CS5 not convert raw files from a Nikon D610 camera?

I just upgraded  my Nikon D90 camera to a D610.  I've been using Adobe Bridge to manage my photos made with the D90, and Camera Raw 6.3 to convert the raw files for use in Photoshop CS5.  The new D610 writes different raw files, so I upgraded Camera Raw to the latest version (6.7.1) which is said to be compatable with the latest Nikon cameras.
The D90 files still convert fine with Camera Raw 6.7.1, but the raw files from the D610 cannot be read.  Does anyone have any insight into why not?
    Thanks,
    JoelP

There will not be another update for Camera Raw 6.x which is the version that is compatible with Photoshop CS5. So you will not have a way to natively open your NEF files from the Nikon D610.  But you can download the DNG converter (version 8.3 RC) from Adobe Labs and use it to create digital negative copies of your NEF files. And then you can use those with the Camera Raw that you already have. Other alternatives would be to upgrade to Photoshop CC, or Photoshop Elements 12, or add Lightroom to your workflow. If you choose Lightroom you would have to use the 5.3 release candidate at this point to have support for your camera. It will, of course, be supported in the final version of Lightroom 5.3 as well as all subsequent versions of Lightroom.

  • Lightroom not importing all photos from the SD card

I have been using light room for a month now, importing photos from my Nikon's SD Card. All was going well until today. At first it seemed like lightroom could only see the first 144 photos (up to DSC_0217) as that was all that showed in the lightroom Library for last import. But when I looked in the Hard Drive and today's folder I could see all the photos (an additional 70 or so) had been imported to the hard disk. I tried moving the missing ones to a new hard disk folder - then an import from that folder, but light room thinks they are already imported.
Any ideas where they may be? I attach a screen shot - but doubt it will help?!?

LOL - 353 photos, thats the 140 or so from today and all my others. Then I see that the sort order is date stamp, and my missing photos are out of sequence. If I sort by filename then I get what I expected to see ... my new photos at the bottom! Looks like something happened in the EXIF data as the time stamp should be sequential with the the filename! No worries, thanks for making me see the big picture

  • Why is Elements 12 not recognising raw files from my Nikon d5300

What am I doing wrong, the main reason I bought Elements 12 was to regcognise eaw files from my Nikon d5300

    Hi,
You shouldn't need to use the DNG converter unless you are using the MAC app version. The D5300 should be supported by Camera Raw 8.3 which should be compatible with Photoshop Elements 12.
In the editor go to Help -> About Plug-in -> Camera Raw to see which version you have loaded. The latest for Photoshop Elements 12 is 8.5. If you have an older one then go to the Help menu and select Updates.
If you are up to date, then you may have use old Nikon software to access the NEF files and that is known to corrupt them so that Photoshop Elements can't read them.
