Lightroom not starting properly

All,
Tonight, I started experiencing a problem with Lightroom 4.2 64-bit starting up on Windows 7 64-bit.  When I launch Lightroom, I see a new process (lightroom.exe) in Task Manager and it consumes about 25% of my CPU, but no window ever displays and no application icon appears on the task bar.
I've looked for any removed any .lock files.
Are there any parameters to pass to lightroom.exe that will make it generate a log that I can review?  Anything else I should be looking at?
Thanks.

I was getting the exact same error message.\
I'm running WinXP, 2 GB of RAM. The weirder thing is, if I opened up Lightroom on my wife's acct. on the same computer, it worked perfectly.
I agree 1.0 is terrible after using 1.3 :-) I tried to re-install 1.2, and 1.3 and got the same error message.
If it means anything, I had just exported the catalog to my backup drive, deleted the pics, and cleaned up the HD, then Defragged. I don't see where that would be a problem, but ya never know!
Any help would be great!
Jeff

    Try any of the following:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.

  • IBook not starting properly

My iBook is not starting properly. The machine begins normally: gray screen to blue and a bar filling from left to right, but it does not move past this point. I understand how to re-install OS X for example, but I am reluctant to do that when it seems the problem is only in getting the wheels spinning... Help! What do you suggest?

Last question first, the command to shut down from Single-User Mode is:
    shutdown now -h
Check out this Apple Knowledge Base article which addresses the exact problem you're seeing:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302411
DiskWarrior is likely your best bet for recovering your hard drive. Someone said it is available at Apple Stores, or you can use the online link I've provided here.
If you have another Mac, you may be able to access your hard drive via FireWire Target Disk Mode in order to retrieve your important files to the hard drive of the other Mac.
    Good luck.

    Hi..
Your profile indicates you are running Lion v10.7 so you need to use Lion Recovery  to repair the startup disk if necessary or reinstall Mac OS X.

If you are using Windows 7, go to:
    Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features
Look for a program called 'Apple Mobile Device Support'
    Right-click on it
    Click 'repair'
Wait until the repair operation is complete, and voila, your problem should be solved, itunes will recognise your iphone/ipod once more. This worked for me.

  • Lightroom not starting - Error msg : Multple entities found

    Hey there,
I had an interesting situation happening the other day. I was working in LR, closed it and when trying to open it again (a couple of hours later) it would not start. Instead I got the following error message:
    AgEntityProvider:getEntity(): Multiple entries found
The errormsg could not be closed, it simply re appeared right away. I checked this forum, as well as on-line, but could not find any related information (at all). I then called Adobe Techsupport, they also had never heard of this error message and had no information on it.
However, the tech support advised me to start a new catalog, and re-import all files from the original library, which solved the issue.
They assumed that the issue stemmed from the 1.1 update of LR and certain database issues that 1.0 had. I initially had 1.0 running and installed the 1.1 update pretty much right away, but I experienced no problem until two days ago.
I just wanted to share this information, in case somebody else ran into the same issue.

  • [SOLVED] samba does not start properly again -this time with systemd

Definitely no luck with this one...
So, today I've switched to a pure systemd init system, and noticed that I have this old issue again.
(Link to my old thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=142704)
Samba doesn't start properly again, more precisely smbd is launched but not nmbd, so samba is not working as it should (for example smbtreee lists nothing).
Last time I've solved it by putting samba long before networkmanager in the daemons array, but with systemd I'm a bit confused...
    Anyone has this issue?

I think that nmbd isn't waiting for networkmanager to start on my system, because I'm getting journal entries like

Oh, this started happening after putting a MUCH faster cpu and motherboard in the system, so maybe there's a race-condition there?

  • [SOLVED] samba does not start properly

I have three machines ( desktop, laptop, and a mini-itx "homeserver" ), and I use samba shares on all the three machines.
The homeserver is headless, does not have a DE, and launches samba properly any time.
On the other machines, the samba service launches ( I can see it on the screen as arch starts ) but does not really start.
I found that smbd is always running, but nmbd never starts when arch starts up.
When the startup is complete, I type "/etc/rc.d/samba restart", and it launches the samba service properly, on both machines.
The smb.conf file is identic on all the machines, except for the server string and the specific machine's share location/name
What can be wrong? Why does nmbd not start on both machines? (Or why does it on the third?)

Samba is in my daemons array in rc.conf. I've already tried to start it in backround too ( @ ). Did not work.
I've already tried the /etc/rc.local thing, but not with a sleep before the service start command.
    Will try it.
Currently I'm using my laptop ( Wicd, not networkmanager , and the first post (skrooge) did not work.
I'll  try it this evening with nm.

  • Jar file not starting properly when in dir with name 2 or more words

    Hello,
I have a pretty weird problem here. When I start my jar file from a directory like Test/MyJar.jar everything is fine. But if I try to start it from Test 1/MyJar.jar the file is not running properly. The jar file reads files from it's directory and the message I receive is can't find Test20%1/MyFile.txt.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Anyway. Probably the easiest thing is to not read from the directory. Rather, put the files you need to read into the Jar file itself, and read them using Class.getResourceAsStream.
This is a workaround, but it's a good one.

  • Windows Not starting properly

Well Im trying to recover my Toshiba M115 is because ever single time i turn my laptop on it says. Windows is not loading properly. And you can either Start Windows Normaly which turns my screen complete black. LAst Known good Configuration which also makes my screen black. I can start in Safe mode(Command Prompt), Safe Mode with Networking, or Just Safe Mode. The Safe Mode ones turn my computer into a bunch of numbers and letters which moves for a little then stops. Any Help! I Have tried to recover it with my CD but all I get is more problems which I explained in another thread. PLEASE HELP
    Yah im a Geek

I read your previous threads so I know what you are talking about. Bottom line is you are going to need to reimage the hard drive. Windows is not working in anyway you try. At the same time, your current Recovery CD is not working either. Was this computer serviced? Was the system board or hard drive replaced earlier? It could be that the tech that worked on the computer forgot to do something. If that is not the case, then I feel that the Recovery CD you are using is defective. Waiting several hours for the Recovery CD to finish is not normal. So maybe either the Recovery CD is bad or maybe there is some problem with the CD drive. Try installing a different copy of the operating system. If it installs it means that your Recovery CD could be bad. If not, maybe you have a bad DVD drive in the computer.
