Lightroom outdated for Mac 10.6.8?

I have a Mac 10.6.8. This computer is not that old, and it is the desktop on which I do all of my photography work. My lightroom 3.6 now does not recognize the files from my SD card from my canon 5D. I have been told that there is no more tech support for Lightroom 3 AND that my computer is TOO OLD?! for an newer version of Lightroom? I paid $300 for my lightroom program less than 3 years ago. There is no reason why this product should now be useless.  I need to continue working on my computer. Please help.OUt

You will be able to upgrade to 5 or 6 when you get your new computer if you buy the FULL Lr4 now. (I see it is still available in several places on Amazon)   It all depends if you need Lr now and how long it will be before you upgrade to a new computer.

  • 64 bit installation in Lightroom 2 for MAC

The readme file that came with Lightroom 2 for MAC states:
"Mac: Lightroom 2 is a 32-bit application by default. For customers using OS X 10.5 on an Intel-based computer, Lightroom 2.0 can be used as a 64-bit application by selecting Adobe Lightroom 2 in the Application folder, choosing Get Info(CMD I) and un-checking the Open in 32 Bit Mode option".
Sorry but I don't follow these instructions. The dmg file does not include a Get Info (CMD I) file. Installing Lightroom 2 to the application folder works fine, but I only find the "Adobe Lightroom.app" file. Right clicking this app file and selecting Get Info brings up the file information window, but there is no box to uncheck to turn off the 32 Bit Mode option. I don't find anything of use in the "application support file" either.
Help! What have I done wrong or am I looking in the wrong place?
iMAC description: OS X version 10.5.4; Processor 1.83 GHz Core Duo; Memory 2GB; Grpahics card ATI Radeon X1600; 128 MB VRAM; Resolution 1440 x 900; Depth 32-bit Color; Home hard drive 124 GB free with Lightroom 1 & 2 installed.

Thanks for all the responses. Didn't realize Core Due processor was not 64 bit capable. Assume that is why I don't see a check box for "Open in 32 Bit Mode" in my "Get Info" window.
    Sincerely,

  • WHERE IS THE LIGHTROOM SDK FOR MAC?

    Hi,
I can't find where to download the SDK for Lightroom 3 for Mac??
    Thanks,
    Juan

    Hi,
Its most likely showing you a blank page again because it is pulling the page from your browser's cache (or an ISP cache) instead of the web server. On Windows I'd try holding down the Control, Alt or Shift key (can never remember which) to bypass the cache when next refreshing that page. Not sure what the equivalent is on Mac (and presumably Safari). Alternatively try a different browser e.g. Chrome or Firefox to see if it has more luck with the download.
As Rob mentioned, the link posted earlier by Renambol seems to be working fine.

  • Lightroom 2 for Mac Corrupting RAW Files?

Lightroom 2 for Mac is seems to be corrupting a number of my raw images after during preview rendering..
The image as it appears in Library...
    http://picasaweb.google.com/scott.albrecht/AbobeIssues#5245906477375752818
However, sometimes, when you go to develop the image looks correct...
    http://picasaweb.google.com/scott.albrecht/AbobeIssues#5245913634737931682
and sometime it appears the same from Library to Develop.
I have seen this behavior with:
USB 2.0 attached disk, internal storage, as well as a gig-e attached RAID 5 NAS device.
and when importing from different cards such as SANDisk Extreme III, IV and Ultra 2 and importing from cameras (two models) and card reader.
Has anyone experienced the sames issues? Any ideas on how to correct this as it has ruined several photographs?

I think there is another thread about this problem. I notice it too. However, CTRL - # does work to switch you back and forth within the different spaces and that's what I'm now doing. I also make sure and run Photoshop and any other related software tools within the same SPACES space that LR is running. I run LR in Space #2. So CTRL-2 quickly switches me back to LR from any other application. CMD-TAB however will not switch me back to the proper SPACE where LR is running unless I'm already there.
How LR manages to break this nice feature within the Apple OS, I've no clue. But, broken, it is.

  • I'm upgrading from Lightroom 4 for Win to Lightroom 5 for Mac. Can I buy the upgrade version?

I'm upgrading from Lightroom 4 for Win to Lightroom 5 for Mac. Can I buy the upgrade version?

    Yes.
Unlike most of Adobe's perpetually licensed software, the Lightroom serial number is multi-platform: works on Mac and/or Windows. You just need the correct installer for the platform (.dmg for Mac or .exe for Win).
If you own any previous version of Lightroom then you can buy the upgrade to LR5.

  • Purchase and install Lightroom 6 for Mac

Can someone please tell me how to purchase and download the upgrade version of Lightroom 6 for a Mac. I do NOT want Lightroom CC!
Adobe has gone to great lengths to make it extremely difficult to do this. They are really pushing CC. I found a page that seemed like the correct page but when I proceed to checkout I arrive at an order verification page that shows the product, sometimes the correct price, but there is no means to proceed further!?!?!?! There is no Proceed, or Next, or Complete Transaction button at all. I have tried for the last 3 days using Safari and Firefox without success.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    Hector
HEY ADOBE - DON'T MAKE THIS SO DIFFICULT. EVERYONE IS NOT INTERESTED IN CC!!!!

Thanks Brett - I get the screen you sent in your response as you can see in the following screen grab from my computer but please read on below the picture.
At this point I click the Checkout button and that is when I get stuck at the following screen.  !?!?!?!

Yes, LR is cross-platform and you can install it on both systems.

  • Lightroom 6 for Mac crashes when trying to open preferences dialog

    Hi,
I just installed an upgrade from LR 5.x to Lightroom 6 (not CC). Unlike other people who seem to have a problem with Lightroom 6 crashing on startup, the application works fine for me, except that it immediately crashes every time I try to open the Preferences dialog.
It does not matter if I try to access the preferences using the Cmd-, shortcut or through the Lightroom → Preferences menu item. There is an immediate crash every time.
Not that I have any urgent need to change any preferences—I just wanted to check if any preferences that might be new to Lightroom 6 needed adjustment.
It is on a MacBook Air running Yosemite 10.10.3.
    Best regards,
    Otto

  • Is Adobe Bridge included in my Creative Cloud Subscription. I have the Photoshop and Lightroom subscription for Mac

Is Adobe Bridge included in my Creative Cloud Subscription. I have the Photoshop and Lightroom subscription for Mac

Addendum: I can find this on Adobe's Acrobat DC FAQ page:
Can I get Document Cloud services if I’m an active Creative Cloud Member?
Yes. Many Creative Cloud plans include Acrobat Pro DC with Document Cloud services. Explore Creative Cloud plans.
However, if I follow the link to Creative Cloud plans, there is nothing to tell me whether Acrobat Proc DC is included in any of the plans. My plan is a yearly individual at $49.99/month.

  • Lightroom 5 for Mac. Joined CC to install filters but cannot find them or failed to appear.

I have just installed Lightroom 5 to enhance my photographic work and decided to check Adobe for any free presets. Having registered with Cloud to enable download I cannot find either a Zip or link to add it to my application.
Adobes guide to install it reveals nothing installed! :
    Where to find it
Make sure you have Adobe's Creative Cloud desktop App (free) installed, log in and sync before clicking the download button. If you experience problems acquiring the product please reboot your computer then re-check your Downloads folder. You can contact me at [email protected]  After installation, the ZIP file (PortraitMatteBWStrongbyalwiDesignLR4LR5.zip) containing the LR preset will be available from your computer's Downloads folder.  1. Open Lightroom and click Lightroom then Preferences on a Mac. On a PC, open Lightroom and click on Edit at the top.
    2. Go to Preferences and click it

    3. The window that pulls up will show 6 different tabs. Click on Presets and open the box called Show Lightroom Presets Folder...

4. A new window pulls up. Double click on Lightroom then double click on Develop Preset(s)
    5. Copy the content of the unzipped files you just downloaded into the folder Develop Presets. That’s it. Restart Lightroom and the Presets are available

    So a few things:
The "lrcat" folder I specified is really whatever folder you named it when you first set the catalog file location.  Whatever you named it, make sure "Wheel" also has read-write permissions, and "Apply to enclosed items".
Check, double check, and triple check that the .plist files in /Library/Preferences continue to exist.  Every time this failed on me, I found them to be missing from the global preferences folder.  I'm not sure if I was copying them with insufficient permissions, or Gatekeeper blocked it, or something in the OS cleaned them up, but once I was SURE they were sticking around even through a reboot; it seemed to good to go.
Don't "replace" copy the /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom folder, just delete it first so there's no folder merging going on - then move the one from the User's Library over.
This should always be the last step: Run LR once more when you're satisfied and make sure the key wasn't lost in the shuffle.  Just re-enter the key if needed, no need to copy all the files again.
Any other insights, updates, or failures are welcome.  Hopefully the next version fixes this as it sounds like is being promised.
Follow Up: Success!  I was able to capture a composer package that does suppress all the start screens for all users, including new ones after the installation.

  • Need help using WEB module in Lightroom 2 for .mac/mobile me accounts

    Hello,
I need help in finding the Server path information for Lightroom 2.  I am trying to use the Web module of Lightroom and build a website and instead of going through another hosting service, I want to use my Mobile ME account, can't I do that?
I have the user name and password obviously but what is the server path, protocol, path?
    Help please!
    Thanks
    Ray

For those Mac Users using iWeb, MobileMe, and Lightroom 2, here are step-by-step instructions on how to create a web gallery in Lightroom, upload the gallery to MobileMe, and finally, how to link the uploaded files to the wesite you created in iWeb.
    1. In the Lightroom Library module, create a collection of photos you want to display in your web gallery.  For illustration purposes, we will call your collection Sunsets.  Once created, it will be listed under Collections in the left panel of Lightroom.
    2. Switch to the Lightroom Web module and select the Sunsets collection (from the panel on the left of the screen.)
    3. Chose whichever template you like (from the list of Templates in the left panel).
    4. Fine tune the appearance of the gallery using the controls in the right hand panel of Lightroom 2.
    5. When you are satisfied with the gallery’s appearance, use your keyboard to type Command-S.  That will save your template settings (give it a unique name when saving).
    6. Open up Finder on your Mac.  Inside your username folder, create a new folder… I'll call it Web Files.  (You can choose any name you like, and locate the file anywhere on your Mac HD.)  You have just created the folder username/Web Files.
    7. Back in the Lightroom Web module, chose Export, at the bottom of the right panel, and export your gallery to the folder you just made (e.g. export to username/Web Files).  By doing so, you will have created /username/Web Files/Sunsets.
    8. Once again open Finder on your Mac.  Go to /username/Web Files/Sunsets and you will see 3 files in the Sunsets folder: bin, index.html, and resources.
    9. Open a second Finder window and in it, click on your iDisk icon.  You will soon see all of the files on your iDisk.
    10. In iDisk, click on the folder called /Web.  You will now see the /Sites folder inside the /Web folder.  I.e., /Web/Sites.
    11. Drag the Sunsets file from your Mac HD to the /Sites folder on your iDisk.  E.g, drag Sunsets from /username/Web Files/Sunsets on your Mac HD to the /Sites folder in iDisk /Web/Sites.  The Sunsets folder (and the three files it contains) will now upload to your iDisk on MobileMe.
    12. Open iWeb on your Mac. Add a new page to your website.  Call it “Galleries,” or anything you like. (You can also use an existing page if you wish.)
    13.  On that “Galleries” web page (or on an existing web page), create a picture icon, or a word, or a symbol, or anything else that you will activate as a hyperlink to your iDisk web files - specifically, you will link it to the Sunsets folder you just uploaded to iDisk.
    14. Activate the hyperlink in iWeb’s Inspector.  In the URL box, type:
http://web.me.com/username/Sunsets  (Don’t forget to substitute your name for “username” and the name of your gallery for “Sunsets.”)
    15. Save your website in iWeb, and then publish your site.
You will NOT see your gallery in iWeb – you will see only the link to the gallery that you uploaded to iDisk..  To view your gallery, either make hyperlinks active, using the Inspector in iWeb and click on he link to the gallery, or visit your website on the internet.  If you want to edit your gallery, you will have to do that in Lightroom… then repeat steps 7 – 11.  You cannot edit your gallery in iWeb, but you can use iWeb to change the appearance of the link to your gallery, or to change it’s location within your website.

I lost my hard drive and I am trying to reinstall programs. I have the serial numbers but I cannot find the program download links for these two products

If you registered the software, you should be able to sign in to your account on the Adobe website and get the download links.

  • Lightroom 2 for Mac and OS X Spaces

    Hi,
I have a problem with Lightroom 2 and OS X Spaces:
After starting Lightroom I navigate to another virtusl desktop (OS X Space).
When I want to go back to Lightroom I would normally use Command-Tab or click the Lightroom Icon in the Dock. The Lightroom menu is displayed, but I am not automatically switched back to the desktop (Space) where Lightroom is running - as I would be with any other Mac application I know. I have to switch desktop manually.
    Anyone else see this?
    Any fix possible?
