Lightroom & Photoshop Issues with Yosemite

Hi. I am new to this so please forgive and errors or omissions in the information I am about to give below:
Since upgrading to Yosemite 10.101, I have had issues with Photoshop not working properly. I am using the Creative Cloud versions of photoshop and they are up-to-date. The photoshop issue is that after an image is opened, the screen within the application turns completely black. You can't see the image although photoshop doesn't crash. I believe Adobe are looking into this issue.
I have installed the new Safari update tonight and now all of my images in Lightroom are pixelated. It was fine 10 minutes before the update which is when I was using it last.
I have a 2013 imac 2.9ghz intel core i5 with 1TB storage of which half is free
8gb 1600 Mhz DDR3 Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 512 MB
I am trying to understand:
- Is my iMac still powerful enough to run these programmes following the upgrades to the IOS and other apps (I would hope so because it isn't that old and cost a fortune!  )
- Should I be raising the issue with Apple or Adobe in terms of not being able to use the Creative Cloud Photoshop and Lightroom? I am paying a monthly subscription for the packages but now can't use either of them due to the upgrades.
If anyone has any ideas/suggestions, I would be really appreciative. If I haven't explained the issue clearly enough, please let me know and I can try to elaborate!
Thanks.
Kieran

  • Issues with Yosemite, can I downgrade to Mavericks or Mountain Lion and downgrade Apple Apps to work with older OS X

    Hi
I am having several issues with Yosemite, mainly disappearing folders (title / name) but no folder or more importantly no previews of .mov or other video files nor unable to open them.  I have years of these files that I want to edit in FCP X.
I have upgraded all my Apple apps so they now work in 10.10.2, but I want to revert back to Mavericks as a second partition for video work.
Is there any way I can reinstalled an older OS and downgrade my Apple apps like FCP X and Aperture so I can open, edit and produce dvd / bluray of these files.
    Thanks in advance
    Matt

Thanks perermac87. I'm can make a second partition on ssd for mavericks as plenty of space, but final cut x 10.1.4 I have now needs Yosemite to open. So how can I also download older versions of my apps from the App Store?
urbkuhl I live in the uk with fibre too and downloaded 10.10.2 in under 10 mins

  • I have a 2012 Macbook Pro and the GPU is causing issues with Yosemite. How can I resolve this issue?

I have a 2012 Macbook Pro and the GPU is causing issues with Yosemite. There are a number of issues I have run across:
If I have four tabs open on Safari then I start to get a flickering on the screen from the GPU refreshing
When I leave the computer alone for more than 20 mins the screen saver should start -- what happens is that the screen goes to black. When I move the cursor I do not get the login screen. I have to reboot
FireFox Web browser will not run
I get issues with the computer running very slowly
I have already turned off the transparency option in settings. Any ideas??
    Cheers
    Matt

Do you have more than one OS on the Mac?
You may want to look at something like http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/. This has a Free Trial window, but it is a commercial application. If there are any heat/sensor issues, this may help.
A SMC Reset or PRAM/NVRAM reset may also help.

  • Mac Book Pro 13 inch Graphics Issue with Yosemite

    I have a major graphics issue with my Mac Book Pro mid 2010 after upgrading to Yosemite. I have a 2.66ghz with 8gb memory and 320M 256 MB NVIDIA graphics card. Since upgrading to Yosemite (after a clean install) I have had the following issue that are driving me crazy;
When I use more than one program my screen displays large blocks of unrecognisable fuzziness. I have two screen working off my Mac Book Pro, one is the Apple 27 inch theatre screen.
My system works slow despite have ample free memory available on my disk (over 150gb)
    It is becoming an increasing concern as this issue builds up over the day to the point where I need to reboot to fix, however as soon as I use Photoshop the system almost grinds to a halt. Other issues that are bearable but ned addressing include;
Keyboard often does not work on startup and requires you to pull out the keyboard and reconnect (intermittent).
Lost email when sent (intermittent). I had hoped that this would be fixed in this updated release.
    Laggy behaviour in general.
I am hoping someone has an idea to fix these issues or are also sharing my frustration. Can someone suggest  fix as this is not a workable situation for Mac book Pro users and 2010 is not that of an old computer. Apple???

So you erased your drive and installed  10.10 and then 10.10.1 and everything else was t hrough Setup Assistant, through reinstalls, or through TimeMachine restore?
A four-year old laptop may be at the point where that small older gpu and processors have more trouble.
you might want to hold off and go back to Mavericks or whatever you had - hopefully you cloned that system before doing clean install, upgrade to 16GB, maybe throw in an SSD... or save and get the next MacBook Pro to come out.
And you checked your apps at http://www.roaringapps.com for compatibility.
Might help just to see what if anything shows up in output from Etrecheck.
Probably thought this was laptop MacBook Pro, it is not, probably best moved to Yosemite forum.

  • Fontographer PS fonts issue with Yosemite

I have created a number of PS fonts (.otf) with Fontagrapher 5. They have been working flawlessly ever since on my MacBook Air (mid 2012) 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD.
Since moving yesterday from Mavericks to Mac OS X Yosemite, things are terrible. All fonts created with Fontographer are not displaying and printing correctly …. my 6 indian music books and numerous documents  in hindi/english diacritical are thus unusable. I tried with Nisus Writer Pro, Text Edit and Mellel to no avail.
Checking with the Apple software FontBook, it says all my Fontographer Fonts are « usable » (green ok check) and that there is no conflict/problem. To be sure, I removed all factory fonts which could potentially make problems (orange warning), rebooted the Mac but, despite that, nothing works properly. Fonts are incredibly SCRETCHED on display (space between characters is huge) and some of them don't print as they are displayed. I also naturally updated the printer  (Xerox Work Center 6605 DN) driver to the latest Yosemite compatible version (oct.16, 2014) but that doesn't change anything. I also tried different ways of making pdf from the different word processors but the same thing occured on pdf.
Please, kindly check and inquire about this important issue with Apple fonts experts. Number of us, using Fontographer Fonts, must be facing the same incompatibility with Yosemite.
Please do let me know what I can do to solve the problem. I don't even know how I can downgrade to Maverick yet.
Thanking you in advance for a quick reply
    Patrick MOUTAL

Well, Kurt Lang did solve my problem and I won't ever be enough thankful to him. He tried one of my font and took the time to examine it with FontLab Studio. In case other persons experiment the same type of troubles, I am pasting the mail I got (along with the corrected font) for info :
    Hi Patrick,
I did find one issue in particular. OpenType fonts should have a UTM setting of 1000. These were at 2048. So I changed those and had FontLab Studio rebuild the names (I just let it do its thing).
The originals you had sent wouldn’t even appear in Office 2011. The rebuilt ones do, though for whatever reason, bold italic won’t show. However, you can click the italic and bold buttons and the correct font is used. Otherwise, the new fonts all work as expected in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, TextEdit and others. I tested them in both Mavericks and Yosemite.
Can’t guarantee success, but give these a shot.
    Kurt
That guy is an angel. He spent a tremendous amount of time examining, testing on Mavericks and Yosemite and on several apps until resolving the problem. Too helpful, too nice and too competent. That's a treat.

  • Lightroom print issues with Espon Stylus Pro 4900

    I'm having a weird issue with my StylusPro 4900 + Mavericks/Lightroom
My prints keep coming out 1/3rd their normal size.
I spent the day troubleshooting and no luck
Using LR4 ad now CC LR + Installed all the updates.
Uninstalled old the old drivers and reinstalled new.
    Restarted several times.
Cleaned up the OSX stuff and more .
I have been using Epson's for over 10 years but have never run into an issue like this.
I'd appreciate any ideas or help!

Not hearing back about the details of your "success" with the Epson driver install, I can only assume that it really does not work correctly - as is the case with everyone else I've read about trying to use the 2200 under Snow Leopard.
The only work arounds are two, and neither is satisfactory:
    1. You can turn off Color management in the first photoshop print dialog and then select the color managed option in the second - this defaults to the printer's drivers instead of using those in photoshop. The result is not right - the colors and brightness are noticeably off - but it is "less unbearably horrible" than what you get if you try to print with the correct workflow: Photoshop manages colors in the first dialog and No color management selected in the second.
    2. There is a Gutenberg driver for the 2200 that theoretically could let you print without the Epson printer drivers. However, I have yet to encounter anyone who has gotten this to work properly so that it duplicates the color results formerly achieved with the Epson driver and photoshop managing colors under the earlier versions of the OS.
This is not a good thing. Many of us who rely on the Epson 2200 are not suddenly and without warning and with no word whatsoever from Epson... just plain SOL...
Epson should at least say something about this. Their statement could be "we will not support this printer under Snow Leopard" (terrible policy, but at least we could all go out and shop for new HP color printers...), "we are updating drivers for this (these?) printer(s) and will have them available shortly," or even "we are looking into this problem and will respond shortly."
Right now the silence is deafening. There isn't anything at the Epson site addressing this issue at all, and there is no way to follow up on it from the page addressing Snow Leopard compatibility.
    Poor show, Epson.

  • Lightroom comptibility issue with SoftRaid software

Long time user of Lightroom & Photoshop but I need to find out if Adobe has a compatibility issue with SoftRaid Software. After creating a Raid Drive with SoftRaid for my Master Lightroom Photo Library, Lightroom FAILS to MOUNT the drive within its Volumes list when LR 5 is opened?? Spoke with SoftRaid Tech Support and was directed to ask Adobe!

If Lightroom is no longer available from the Mac App Store (MAS), that was an Adobe decision to longer sell it through that distribution stream. MAS versions of apps have no serial numbers, that is an Apple requirement for a developer to sell through the MAS.
If you have a backup of your current Mac installation, you should be able to restore the MAS version of Lightroom from the backup. If not, you will need to purchase it from whomever Adobe now sells it through.

  • Issues with Yosemite and Safari on extended monitors

I have Yosemite installed on a Mac Pro with 3 monitors attached to it.  As soon as I installed Yosemite, I noticed that whenever I tried to fill in text input fields on a web page, the things I typed in would start blinking.  And when trying to backspace to correct any typing errors, the field would remain the same and continue blinking.  It was very annoying because it was very difficult to enter anything into text input fields.
My brother and an officemate who also had Yosemite installed on their computers were not experiencing this issue so I tried to isolate the problem on my system.  What I discovered is that Safari behaves as it should when it is displayed on my main monitor.  But whenever I move the Safari window over to one of the other monitors, any text input field on a web page would be next to impossible to type text into.  Other input fields, such as dropdown list boxes, act weird also.
I should add that this only happens with Safari.  Firefox and Chrome do not behave this way on any of the monitors.  Other apps also run fine on the extended monitors.  It's just Safari that misbehaves.
Has anybody else experienced this problem.  Is this a known bug?  I tried doing a search here in this community and on the internet itself but have not found anybody else complain about this issue.
    Thanks.
    ...Leo

Hi all, I too am expieriencing similar issues.
I am running a 2012 6core 3.33 Mac Pro with two ATI Radeon cards driving 3 27" LCD Cinema Displays.  One of the Radeo cards (1) drives the outer 2 screens and the other card (2) drives the centre screen alone.
I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite 10.10.01 after being very pleased with it running on my Macbook Pro for a few weeks.
My center screen had issues immediately rendering certain pages in Safari, the App Store and Mail.  In particular the google page when it has live search results showing, the App Store updates page also renders badly, and some emails in Mail that are html also don't load as the should.  Generally its the top of the page flashing, or the text input box on a page like this thats effected.
I did a fresh install of Yosemite and it didn't fix the problem.
I notice when I drag my safari window from the outer screen to either of the side screens, the problem goes away and returns when it comes back to the centre screen.  I swapped over the mini display ports so that graphics card 1 drives the middle screen and graphics card 2 drives the outer screens and the problem moved to the outer screens.
I am still on Applecare so I called Apple and a senior tech took a look at the issue on my screen remotely.  He decided on replacing the graphics card.  This is being sent now so I report back once its installed to let you know if it made a difference.
I am also going to try swapping out one of my cards with another colleagues card to see if I can establish if its a bug in Yosemite or an issue with a specific ATI card, or indeed just a problem when you run two cards.
In the mean time I would be interested to hear if any of you guys found a workaround.

  • Ram Preview Issue with Yosemite

Hi, I have updated to OS X Yosemite, I am using AE 13.1.1.3, and now I am having an issue with RAM-Preview that makes working with AE problematic: When I start the Preview by hitting "0" on the Numpad the Ram Preview starts, but I am not able to stop it anymore until it has rendered to the end of the work area.
It is also strange that I am able to move keyframes while it renders.
The Shift-Ram Preview is also affected by this bug.

There is a known bug with Yosemite and the RAM preview, but your issue sounds different. Anyway, see the known issues here: After Effects good to go with Mac OSX v10.10 (Yosemite)

  • Photoshop issue with network login

All my editors are having issues with photoshop and creating a new document. The program launches fine, but when they go to create a new document, they get the RWOD and it locks up and needs to be force quit.
If I login to the local account I can launch photoshop and create a new document without any issues. I have checked the system log in Console, but it does not show me anything that would appear to cause issues. I ssh to that machine and watched system log while they attempted to create a new document and nothing showed up at all.
Anybody have any ideas on what would be causing this? I have tried trashing the prefs as well with no luck. Thanks

there was no error occured in AE monitoring as per logs it processed successfully, but receiver party which is outside organization network complained saying that they receive this file empty.

  • Compatibility Issues with Yosemite?

I have an older version of CS (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign—5.1-5) Would upgrading to Yosemite be ill-advised?
    Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?

See this earlier thread: Does InDesign CS5.5 work with Yosemite?

  • Is Lightroom 4 compatible with Yosemite?

I really want to install Yosemite, but I depend on Lightroom 4 for work.  Has anyone installed Yosemite and is Lightroom 4 running fine?  I can't install Yosemite unless Lightroom 4 works perfectly.
    Thanks.

    Please be careful
I am an Adobe user CS5 and LR4
I upgraded this evening and now have no CS5!!
An Adobe agent has just told me that LR4 is NOT compatible with Yosemite!
The same agent felt it would be a good idea for me to pay Adobe $400 to upgrade to CS6 and then I could use LR4 and PS!!!!!!!!
    I am disgusted

  • Are there any known issues with Yosemite (iMac/Intel)?

I have seen reported issues with Wi-Fi, Interrnet connection, and ethernet.  Are these still valid concerns at this point - or has the OS been updated?

Those never were valid concerns. A very small percentage of users had issues but by and large most of us have had no problems whatsoever. However before upgrading you should always make a backup of your entire system in the event that you want to downgrade to your previous state. Make sure that you have at LEAST 4gb of ram and more is better. Also check to be sure that applications you depend on are compatible or upgradable for Yosemite.

  • Enterprise Wi-Fi Issues with Yosemite

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) - But also tested on other older models running Yosemite.
Yosemite version 10.10.2 (This has been an issue with all versions of Yosemite)
The company that I work for has a wireless profile that was built that will authenticate (on login) with our AD login credentials. It works great upon login.  But with any device that has been updated to Yosemite, if the device is put to sleep or if you leave the wifi connection for one reason or another, it will not allow us to reconnect.  Even if we enter our AD credentials when prompted. It simply will not reconnect to the Enterprise Wi-Fi.  The "quick" solution is to log out of the OS and log back in.
    Is this a common issue?
