Lightroom presets help

How do I get my presets that I purchased to go into Lightroom? I followed directions and about 20 times no result.

in Edit - click preferences
CLick Presets then double click Show Lightroom Presets Folder
Double-click on Lightroom
DOuble click on Develop Lightroom presets
these are just a few of my purchased presets. I got to this page by clicking on User Presets that appeared on previous page. I have selected all of these files and tried to move them to documents, downloads and Lightroom repeatedly to no avail. I have also unzipped other preset files and they seem to disappear or show up in a file not within Lightroom 5
i really don't know what to try next. It should not be this complicated.

I'm trying to extract an Irtemplate file to access my purchased lightroom presets.  Each time I select it, I get an error saying I don't have an application to unzip the file.  Apple looked into it and says it is either a problem with my lightroom or I am lacking a plugin from you to do so.  Can you help me?

  • Lightroom presets

I tried to add some new presets to my folder as the directions stated and now when I open my lightroom all of my previous presets I created are missing.  They were not deleted out of the files, I just cannot see them on my lightroom anymore.  Does anyone know what folder adjustment I need to make to get my presets back?  Im in the process of editing a session, and need HELP.  Please.

    Hi Joe,
That was the problem, I had adobe take over my computer and fix it back to default settings and then we found my presets and added the nee free ones.  They were a HUGE help and its all fixed and session was edited.  Yeah!  I can stop panicking.  Thank you for your help, and taking the time.  Have a good day.

If you have multiple catalogs floating around (not normally a good thing), you probably want to separate the presets from the catalogs by making sure they are not linked:
    menu: / edit / preferences / presets / location
make sure the check box "store with catalog" is UNchecked.

  • Lightroom Presets "process version"

I am creating lightroom presets to share (Lightroom 4)
I am confused about the box "precess version". Should I click it or not? What will happen if I click it and then there is a lightroom 5? Not sure what is the best choice and why there is even that option.
    Thanks for any help!
    Sarah

If Lightroom handled process version the way it should, that box would not exist. i.e. Lightroom would know whether there are process specific settings in it, and handle in an appropriate fashion.
However, Lightroom's handling of process version in presets is abysmal.
If I used presets, I would *never* check that box, and instead, keep presets with process-specific settings in a special folder, and/or give an indicative name.
Then manage process-specific presets without Lightroom intervention, until Lightroom handling is brought up to snuff, at which time existing presets could be retrofitted, if need be.
In any case, if preset is presently universally applicable, I recommend *not* checking that box, since there is no Lr5 yet. When Lr5 is released, you can revisit that decision, and consider retrofitting.
If preset is NOT universally applicable (*does* include process-version specific settings), then it's a tougher call. Either way, it won't do the right thing if you try and apply it to a photo with the wrong process version. So it's a matter of how you prefer it to fail. If you have the box checked, then it will convert PV and apply preset. Unfortunately, it won't let the conversion "settle" before applying the preset, so it won't work correctly, if at all, and anyway, it's usually not good to convert PV this way, especially if there are pre-existing edits. On the other hand, if you don't have the box checked, and you apply to photo with wrong process version, it will just ignore the process-version specific settings, which ain't much fun either... - it won't tell you about any of this, so you or your "clients" must take full responsibility for knowing whether they are applying a preset to compatibly edited photos or not.
If you decide you want to sometimes or always check that box, I would still handle presets in the aforementioned fashion, i.e. name and store so the scope of applicability of a preset is clear.
Maybe some other preset users will have a better idea for you.

  • Show lightroom presets folder wont open!

Hello.. I was hoping someone could help me.
I just bought an iMAC... 3 days now... still trying to get it going and up and running.
Well I finally got my presets downloaded, by importing on the left side of the screen.. which is great.
But I still need to dowload my adjustment brushes...
When I go to preferences, and go to "show lightroom presets folder"
IT WONT OPEN......nothing comes up.. I click and click and click.. I restarted LR, over and over.. nothing comes up.. what am I doing wrong?

Most likely adminstrator permissions on your Mac OS is not configured to give you access but you can find the folder location  in this document: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/preference-file-locations-lightroom-4.html

  • Lightroom preset invalid extension

I bought a Lightroom Preset using the exchange. It downloaded to my computer using Creative Cloud. Once on my computer, I double clicked the .zxp file and it opened up "Adobe Extension Manager CS5". Then it gives me an error message saying the extension is invalid.
I'm not sure it matters but I'm using Lightroom 4.4.

Cool.  I can work with that.  Do me a favor first.  Go here: http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/CxN/PortStatusMonitorCUC7x/Help/Connection%20Remote%20Port%20Status%20Monitor.html
Read up on this tool and read the Help file as well.  You can use it to call into Unity and when your call hits a port - you'll see it and be able to "watch" what Unity is doing as you progress thru the call.  It may not lead to exactly what's going on but 1) it can be educational and 2) it can help verify what Unity is seeing and doing compared to what you think should occcur.

  • Using Lightroom presets in Photoshop?

    Hi,
I apologize if this question has been asked before. I've been told
that I can use my Lightroom presets in Photoshop CS4 and 5.
Apparently by importing them into Camera RAW. Does anyone  have any instructions
on how to do this. Can you apply the preset to JPG's as well?
    Thanks in advance.

You aren't the only one, and neither is going away any time soon.

  • Can I use Lightroom presets in Photoshop CS4

    HI,
There are a lot of beautiful Lightroom presets out there, I do not have Lightroom but PS CS4, Is it possible to use Lightroom presets in Photoshop CS4?  If so how do I import them ..ie: do I need to change the extension to a filter, action, and lastly which folder do I place them?
    Thank you in advance
    Alayne

While they're not importable, you can simulate your own presets to your liking, and store as many as you wish.

Lightroom 5 Help says that to change the size of filmstrip thumbnails: "Place pointer over top edge of filmstrip; when pointer changes to doublearrow, drag the filmstrip edge up or down."  However I never get a double arrow.  Instead I get a hand icon that allows me to drag the thumbnails to right or left.  How can I change the filmstrip thumbnail size?

It works for me. Are you sure you are hovering in the right spot? It's the dividing line between the filmstrip and the Toolbar.

  • Can I convert a Camera Raw preset to a Lightroom preset?

I have number of presets in Camera Raw that I use in PS compositing. However, I'd like to use some of them in Lightroom now for my photography. Is there a way to convert them? The Camera Raw presets are saved in an .xmp file, while the Lightroom preset have a .lrpreset extension. They have similar information, but the formatting is a bit different (the .xmp looks more like an XML file). Any ideas?

Thanks David, that worked. I had been using Save Image in Camera Raw and didn't know why the .xmp sidecar wasn't being saved. I do wish there was a more automated way to do this, but my searches have come up empty. Lightroom puts a, presumably, unique ID at the beginning of each preset that the Camera Raw versions don't have, and who knows where it's generated from.

  • Where are Lightroom presets found in Finder on my Mac?

I recently had to wipe my hard drive clean and start over.  Before this I had backed up my files on an external drive.  I have reinstalled Lightroom 5, but now I want to restore all my presents.  When I go to Time Machine where do I find those presets so I can restore them?

Do Lightroom > Preferences > Presets > Show Lightroom Presets Folder.
