Lightroom Registry Entries...  Serial Number Submission / Location has changed...

I just deleted all the registry settings for Lightroom on my Windows PC.
I currently have Lightroom version 1.3.1 installed.
TOPIC #1
Why is Lightroom version 1.3.1 recreating Lightroom 1.1 registry entries?
Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Adobe -> Lightroom
there is a 1.1 key with nothing in it...
I deleted it again and restarted lightroom again. Just to clear things up, Lightroom was not running when I deleted the registry entries... either was the annoying launch thing on the system tray.
TOPIC #2 -- Multiple Entries
Why is lightroom creating HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Adobe Lightroom AND HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Adobe -> Lightroom
This seems like poor organization and just asking for confusion (since you are asking users to entry the registry and modify things per your Knowledge Base articles.)
As a developer, I don't really see any reason other than sloppy code / trying to move from one location to another, but the code is unfinished. So the app is drawing info from both locations.
The Software -> Adobe Lightroom registry key holds information about the app... the Adobe -> Lightroom seems like the more logical place to put things (since Acrobat and other apps go under there) has nothing but a version number and the version number listed does not match the version installed (I have never had 1.1 installed on this machine.)
So bottom line? Why have both? Why not keep things in Adobe -> Lightroom?
My current problem is Lightroom will not accept my registration... it looks like the reason for that is they've decided to store the registration / serial number information under C:\Users\All Users\Adobe\Lightroom\Lightroom 1.0 Registration.lrreg
The Lightroom 1.0 Registration.lrreg file is PLAIN TEXT setup as a "reginfo" array of data...
regInfo = {
address = "my address",
city = "my city",
company = "Ryan Sinn Photography",
country = "1",
email = "email goes here",
email_again = "email goes here again",
firstname = "Ryan",
industry = "26",
occupation = "21",
receive_email = "receive_email",
receive_fax = "no_receive_fax",
receive_mail = "no_receive_mail",
receive_phone = "no_receive_phone",
serial_number = "here was my serial number in plain text",
state = "1879",
uuid = "not sure what this is yet... maybe it's unique",
zip = "55432",
This knowledge base article:
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb401346
... is explaining how to fix the "registration try/buy prompt at startup" issue is wrong. At least it is on Vista. I have a second copy of lightroom (second serial number) on XP -- I'll have to check that out and see how that is setup and where the license file is.
The knowledge base or the FAQ (or both) should be updated because that solution no longer applies on the PC side of things.
Anyway -- enough of my rant about this stuff...
It just seems like version 1.3.1 and every version prior to it should really be release candidates for the REAL version 1.0.
Seems like the joke is on us ... we paid to figure out all the problems with the software... Does Adobe have QA Testers anymore or are professionals who pay for the software filling that roll?

The 1.3.1 created "Lightroom 1.0 Registration.lrreg" file has a different UUID... not sure how that is determined.<br /><br />Seems as though the other file was missing the Last Name, although I know I had that typed in.<br /><br />regInfo = {<br />     address = "address",<br />     city = "city",<br />     company = "Ryan Sinn Photography",<br />     country = "1",<br />     email = "email",<br />     email_again = "email again",<br />     firstname = "Ryan",<br />     industry = "26",<br />     lastname = "Sinn", <--- this was not in my other reg file<br />     occupation = "21",<br />     receive_email = "receive_email",<br />     receive_fax = "no_receive_fax",<br />     receive_mail = "no_receive_mail",<br />     receive_phone = "no_receive_phone",<br />     serial_number = "plain text serial number",<br />     state = "1879",<br />     uuid = "<uuid here>",<br />     zip = "55432",<br />}<br /><br />It seems as though this file needs to be deleted if you installed an older version of Lightroom, then upgraded to 1.3.1 and then tried to buy the software.

  • Can the Find My iPhone app use a serial number to locate lost iPod Touch 4g

    I lost my iPod Touch 4g and want to find with the Find my iPhone app. I'm using my brother's iPhone 4s to locate it. Can I use a serial number to locate. I lost it in school (in the Administrations office) so I know it won't be stolen. I had them search the whole building and found nothing. My school has Wi-Fi. I got the serial number from iTunes back up.

    The find my iDevice works through iCloud.  What you needed to have done before it went missing was setup an iCloud account on the device, then enable the find my device slider setting to "ON" under that account's settings.
    If you did not do that, it is not trackable.
    There is no way to track it by serial number.
    Also, in order to be trackable it has to be powered on and connected to a data connection.  A wifi-only device like an iPod Touch powers off the wifi radio when running on the battery, so if it has gone into sleep mode, it would not be trackable until or unless woken up by someone so it could re-acquire a data connection with a wifi network.

  • Having trouble getting my Lightroom 5.0 upgrade to accept my Lightroom 4.4 serial number.

    I am having trouble getting my Lightroom 5.0 upgrade to accept my Lightroom 4.4 serial number. I recently installed Windows 8, 64 bit on a second solid state HD on my computer (had a virus problem for which I had to format C and reinstall everything). The new  ss HD is drive C and my operating system and my programs are all installed there. All my documents and files are now stored on my original, reformatted drive, which is now drive D. I was using Windows 7, 64 bit. Could all this be the reason my serial number is not being recognized? PHH

    Hi 48phh,
    Yes Lightroom 5 takes the Serial Number of each previous version and you can do the Upgrade from any  1, 2 3, or 4 version of Lightroom,but somethig different for the Upgrade from the Mac App Store ... see how here: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/upgrade-mac-app-version-lightroom.html
    you installed Windows 8 and installing only the operating system, but keeping all the app certainly and during the operation something can be lost, especially if you run Clean after installing the system by deleting the folder containing the old system, it's better to wait to do so.
    However, no problem, because to do the 'Upgrade all you need is the old serial number and don't need Lightroom4 to be installed on your machine ...

  • Is it possible that using serial number find location of Ipod?

    If you had the Find My iPhone application installed and location services turned on, you can track the iPod touch, but you can not use the serial number to track it.

  • I started a trial of creative cloud and downloaded lightroom. I decided to buy lightroom on amazon because I liked it. Now when I try to license the trial version of lightroom with the serial number, it says it's invalid. Why?

    I started a trial of creative cloud and downloaded lightroom. I decided to buy lightroom on amazon because I liked it. Now when I try to license the trial version of lightroom with the serial number, it says it's invalid. Why?

    The standalone version and the CC version are both the same exact program, but the licensing is completely different. It will be necessary for you to uninstall the creative cloud trial version and then install the one you purchased from Amazon. After you install, you will be able to open the same catalog and continue from where you were.

  • The serial number you entered has expired. This product cannot be licensed. Please contact Customer Support. Provide a serial number.

    I work for a University. We've purchased a few copies of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI boxed software. It's been working great all along. Now, it won't work at all. Error as follows:
    "The serial number you entered has expired.This product cannot be licensed. Please contact Customer Support. Provide a serial number."

    You need to do what it says... contact Adobe Customer Support. We can't help for two reasons (a) we are not Adobe staff (b) even if we were, we can't examine private serial numbers in a public forum.
    When you contact them, best to have all the paperwork from the original purchase in case there are difficulties with a supplier etc.

  • I bought lightroom 5 last december I install on my old PC. But today I buy a new Mac and I try to reinstall my lightroom with the serial number and it's said it 's wrong number.  Can have a new number?

    I bought lightroom 5 last december, I install on my old PC. Today I buy a Mac and I try to reinstall my lightroom with the serial number I have.  It's said wrong number can I have a new number?

    This is a user to user forum so there is no one here to provide you with a new serial number or to reset your serial number.
    It is possible that you are trying to activate an installation of the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom. It is not possible to do so with your License Key. You need to uninstall the existing version that you have installed. This will not interfere with your catalog, Preferences or personal files, it will just remove the application.
    Then download the perpetual license from the link below. Install and it should accept your license key just fine.

    There's no option for sorting Apps and Folders, you have to do it manually, best solution if they are many is to connect your device to itunes, tap on the "iPhone" at the yop left, then go to the apps section, and do all the sorting you need then click "Apply".

    Dose the serial number need to be changed and how when selling Adobe Photoshop Elements 9

    No, the serial number goes with the product. You should deactivate all your installed copies before selling it. Also, if you've used it qualify for upgrade pricing on a later version you can't sell it. Well, you could but the new owner won't be able to install it.
    Adobe does have a license transfer document, but not many people bother with it:

    Did you buy this directly from Apple or from elsewhere. I've never heard of Lightroom coming pre-installed so it sounds like you MBP might not really be "new."
    Enter your serial number here to check the support status and see if the computer has been previously registered:

    If you did not buy it from Apple and that site shows any purchase date other than yours (± a few days), return the computer to the fraud perpetrators who sold it, get your money back, and buy directly from Apple next time

  • My Lightroom 5 upgrade serial number not showing up on My Products page; chat support useless

    I purchased a Lightroom 5 upgrade license on July 25th.  I didn't receive a confirmation email but my serial number was displayed on the order summary page after purchase.  I tried registering the serial number repeatedly through the My Products page but for some reason the serial number wasn't showing up, even though the registration process reported a successful result.  Furthermore, Adobe products bought from the Adobe store should automatically be registered according to Adobe's web site.  Apparently this must have failed.  I need to reinstall Lightroom 5 but the serial number is still not showing up on the My Products page.  I just spent an extremely frustrating hour with Adobe "Live" chat who did nothing but send me in circles and repeat the same canned responses over and over again.
    I'm currently on hold with "phone support" but I'm not optimistic as I've been on hold for 28 minutes.  The only other support option was a link to this forum, hence this post.  Hopefully someone from Adobe can retrieve my serial number and contact me.  Failing this my only other option will be to contact VISA and open a claim.

    OK, I was able to recover my previous system's image and thankfully it appears you can get the serial number from Help->System Info.  I attempted to register the serial number again via the My Products page and while it indicated that the registration was successful, we'll see.  At least I should be able to install LR5 on my new machine now.
    Edit:  I also just discovered that the serial number is listed under My Orders, but not under My Products.  Weird.  In my defence , I never thought to check My Order history because I never received a confirmation email and the order wasn't listed after purchase...even as late as mid-August (when I last checked.)  Very strange but it's all good now.
    Edit #2: OK now I just feel silly.  I just received an email from Naveen with an actual support case AND the correct serial number.  So, I stand corrected.  The Live Chat process still felt incredibly long with some seemingly canned/automated responses but, in all fairness, he did get back to me.  Thank goodness I washed both feet today...

  • I am reinstalling Lightroom 5 and serial number entered is invalid

    My system was rebuilt and getting back to the install disk for Lightroom 5.0 where I enter my serial number associated with the install disk and the system will not continue indicating the serial number is invalid.  I have entered it several times to make sure it was entered properly to no avail.

    Richfroisness are you utilizing the serial number listed under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  You can find more details on how to locate your serial number at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.
    If so are you installing from the installation disk or did you download a fresh copy of the installation files?  Finally what operating system are you using?

  • Adobe lightroom asking for serial number each time I open it. Any suggestions?

    I just downloaded Lightroom 5 and updated to 5.7 when prompted on completion of the process. I now have to input the serial number each time I open the programme. Is there any thing I can do, restarting the installation for example, to try and get round this problem?

    I have the same thing happen to me. Every time I start Aperture, it asks for the license. Once I have entered the license key it lets me use the application. However, the next time I use the application again, i get the same problem. I have tried reinstalling the application, and am asked for the license key at the beginning of the install and again once the package is started. To no avail. And I get no other messages.
    I called Apple Support, and after booking a call with a support person (a Genius?), I got one who, after reading the summary of my problem in the service request, said simply "this is for Aperture? Aperture is a Microsoft product, you have to call Microsoft". And that was that.
    Please, anyone have any ideas?
