Lightroom removes the camera metadata on import.

Lightroom removes the camera metadata on import. It started I think when I turned on the option for finding locations through GPS data. I have since turned it off but it still wipes camera data on import. Please help.

So I don't know what happen but my photos were being put into an auto-upload folder when synced before I sorted them out. Occasionally I would start editing the photos here. At some point during that process Lightroom had asked me about auto looking up location data off the gps data. So now under metadata right where I found the camera, lens and all that information I was to find empty gps data listed. I tried removing and re adding that folder and resyncing the metadata but nothing worked. I turned off the gps setting which I thought was causing the problem but it didnt fix it. So I reloaded the photos onto my pc and put them in the proper folders and loaded them into lightroom that way. Bingo! Camera data! I dont know what really happened but I think when I changed that setting permanently caused a problem with my auto-upload folder. I will try again to load photos into Lightroom via the auto-upload folder and see if it is missing data. I will respond when I have tried that.  Thanks for all the responses.

How do i remove the exif metadata from my jpg file produced with a digital camera photo?

The excellent and free utility Irfanview has the option to remove the EXIF data.
Simply open and the file and do a Save, or Save As with the original name.
Surprisingly, the default is to not keep the original EXIF data.

  • Can you remove the camera white balance setting in Aperture

I have a Canon 7D and use Aperture for processing and storing my images.
With the Canon I shoot both video and still and frequently adjust the white balance in the camera.  I make a frequent mistake in leaving the wrong white balance setting on - eg when taking video indoors in the evening  I set the white balance to indoors (the Canon seems poor at white balance decision making on video) and then I forget I'm not using auto white balance and switch to taking a photo with flash.  The result is a horrible blue photo - which if I don't spot the problem at the time seems very hard to correct afterwards.
I use the Aperture white balance adjustments frequently but unless there is a patch or white or grey I an use the dropper on, I find this particular situation seems to be right off the scale of what I can fix in Aperture.  I end up with sliders at the extremes of the scales and no intuitive sense of what numbers to type in manually to try and get realistic colour - so I often end up discarding these photos even if the shot itself is something I'd like to use.
So my question is given I'm importing RAW, is there a way to show the phoo without the (wrong) white balance setting I applied in the camera, to let me choose white balance from scratch?
Or if not, do you have any advice about how to adjust from this very bluey unrealistic colour of image?

Kirkby - thanks for the quick reply.
Didn't know you could drag inside a value field - that's helpful.
But being able to get different numbers on the slider isn't the root of my problem.
In a specific example I have two photos - one taken with white balance set to flash and the photo was with flash, where after a bit of tweaking to get the colour I want the temp slider is at 5000K (and tint 0).  The second photo has my shooting error with interior lighting white balance but taken with flash.  The two shots were taken from almost the same point of the same view (but different people in frame).  The shot with the white balance error comes off camera horribly blue coloured. I can fiddle with the two sliders - I take temperature to 20000K and tint to 40 to do the best with it I can, and with those settings one of the two faces is approaching flesh colour but the wall behind the subjects (which is a light blue in reality) is now appearing light yellow in places.  I just can't get a good looking colour effect no matter ow extreme the slider settings.
I may have phrased my question badly - as I totally agree you can't show a raw without a colour setting - so maybe I'm better asking to be able to use a different colour setting on the raw data rather than having to start with adjustments on top of my white balance mistake.
Given the two shots were in the same place against the same background and the same lighting (both with flash) it seems to me I ought to be able to get a similar colour effect on both and I just can't.  To illustrate here are the two photos (the one on the left was shot with flash wb and in Aperture I'm viewing it with 5000K and 0 tint, the one on the right was shot with indoor wb and in Aperture I'm viewing it with 20000K and 40 tint and it looks terrible!)

  • Is there anyway to mark a photo in the camera roll as imported without importing

Is there anyway to mark a photo as imported without actuall importing the photo? Some of the wallpaper apps on the iPad copy the image to the camera roll so you can make the image your background. I don't want to delete the image as I may use it later. Everytime I connect my iPad to my mac it launches iPhoto and wants to import the camera roll.
Another option would be to move items to another photo album and delete them from the camera roll bit I haven't figured out how to do that either.
    Any suggestions would be great.

No - to have it imported you have to import it
why not import it and then delete it in iPhoto or ignore it

  • How do I remove the background of artwork imported as a picture

I drew artwork on a blank sheet of paper and took a picture then imported it into my computer.  I want to ultimatly put the artwork onto a t shirt however, unmodified the sheet the artwork is on looks grey on the t shirt.  How do I edit the photo so the artwork which is in just black is just the artwork on a perfectly white background.  Thanks

    Jose,
Unless you want the artwork as vector instead of raster, you may remove the background in Photoshop (if you have it), with no need to use Illy at all.
If you want it as vector artwork, but as close as possible to the present appearance (photolike, brushlike, and the like), you may use Live Trace ticking Ignore White (presuming the background is white.

  • My kid accidentally remove the camera and app store in mg phone how can i retrieved it?

My kid accidentally removed my camera and apps store icon how can i retrieved it?

These cannot be removed, as they are original Apple supplied apps.
They may be buried in a folder somewhere.
One way to retrieve them is Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout
It is possible your kid restricted these apps.  Check Settings > General > Restrictions

  • How do I remove the white space when importing a site from Flash?

Okay, so I've dragged and dropped my created Flash site into Dreamweaver. One problem though, when I view it in a web browser (any web browser), it displays the site fine, however with a huge white space to the side of it. You'll see what I mean in this screenshot:
What can I do then to remove that white space and make the site fill up the whole web browser? I've tried resizing it using a number of ways, but cannot seem to get it right.
    Thanks.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

    You can do two things:
    1) Change the width of the container to 100%;  OR
    2) Post a link to your test page here (not the code nor picture) so that we can see ourselves what your code looks like.

  • Hello Apple members, my iPad Air fell on the ground and camera stopped working, please how can you help me out, this is because the camera is so important especially when I am out for events, thanks

My iPad fell and the back camera stopped working, please help me out, thanks,

If it doesn't come back after you restore the iPad, it sounds like you've damaged the hardware, you'll need to take it to Apple or an authorized service center.

  • I recently updated my iPhone's 3GS software to iOS 5.1...Is there any way to remove the camera button from the lock screen?

    Heeelp?!...

I did just that, good idea.
I stated in my feedback message that I feel it disturbing that someone handling my iPhone, but not having the passcode, can take photos with my phone.  Photos of --<sigh>--Lord knows what.  While the phone's usually in my pocket or otherwise close to my person, that's not always the case.
Now, I'll grant that it is nice to have the option to allow someone to take a photo with my phone without also giving them access to everything else.  In fact, that's a very nice little tidbit.  I'd just like to have the flexibility to prevent people from taking pics with my phone, should they happen to have it in hand and feel the urge to add to my camera roll even without my approval.  There's real opportunity for mischief in this.

See this article: iPad: Using the iPad Camera Connection Kit
No, this canot be done, afaik. When your camera or card is connected, you will see the thumbnails in the camera pane, but not full size preview. So to browse your photos on the iPad you will need to import them to your camera roll. But you need not delete them from the camera or card after importing, so you might simply import selected photos to your camera roll from the camera grid and then delete them again from the camera roll after importing and browsing, without removing them from the card/camera.

  • I am trying to import i frame from an SD90 video camera to iMovie, but it does not see the camera. Footage goes to i photo Why?

I am trying to import video ( i frame) from an sd90 ( listed for mac) but i movie does not see the camera. It imports into i photo. Is this normal ?

If you quit iPhoto and iMovie (with the camera still attached) then put the camera into VCR playback mode. Then launch iMovie and see if it can see the camera. If not, get out the power adapter for the camera and plug it into the wall, plug the camera into the power adapter. Reboot your Mac and wait for iPhoto to launch again automatically. Don't let it import the clips, just say No, quit the program. Then put the camrea int VCR/Playback mode, launch iMovie and check again to see if it can see the camera. Once iMovie sees it the first time it should be quicker to recognize it in future. But iPhoto does try to race in there and grab everything first.
To turn this off go to iPhoto Menu in iPhoto > Preferences > Look for Connecting camera opens: (click on the pulldown menu and choose No Application) This effectively turns off iPhoto when you first attach the camera. And it opens the way to iMovie recognizing it quicker.

  • Removal of Image metadata

How do I remove image camera metadata?  Any help would be appreciated. [email protected]

Tom, you posted in the worst possible place (a 2-y-o discussion) to have your question answered. Your post seems really out of place, especially if you had reviewed the original post in this discussion. What does the title of "How to get help quickly" have anything to do with metadata? Review the tips and then start a new forum topic.
