Lightroom sign in failure

When I try to sign into Lightroom, I get a message: Lightroom has experienced an unexpected Sign In failure. Please try again later. (attempt to index a nil value)
Any ideas, or better still any solutions? This has happened over the last 2 days.

Lightroom sync with the iPad app had been working wonderfully for me. Suddenly, in the Windows desktop app, I'm signed out, and trying to sign in results in, "Lightroom has experienced an unexpected Sign In failure. Please try again later." To my knowledge nothing changed on my PC to trigger this issue, and I had been using the sync multiple times daily when the error suddenly cropped up. Creative Cloud remains cheerfully signed in.
Other Mac-related threads mention a similar error that includes something to the effect of "(attempt to index a nil value)," but that parenthesized message does NOT appear in this case, and needless to say the Mac solution that has been posted for this problem (http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/error-unexpected-sign-failure-occurs.html) doesn't apply to a PC.
Any suggestions/solutions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Update 4/29/14: After having changed nothing, I am able to sign in to Lightroom again (although the sign in does not persist when I close Lightroom). I had a case pending with Adobe support, that had been escalated; perhaps over the past day they did something behind the scenes to solve my primary sign-in issue, but if so, they didn't communicate it to me.

I got the same error in Windows 7. Here's what I found - jump ahead if you find the technical terms confusing.
For me, it turned out to be a network configuration problem related to IPv6, as Ary Gunawan has said. In simple terms, Windows claims that it has a working IPv6 setup, and therefore Lightroom tries to connect to an IPv6 address instead of an old-school IPv4 one, and that fails.
I haven't been able to establish with certainty if it is a local problem in my network config, or related to my ISP, or if Adobe screwed up. What I do know is that Lightroom returns an extremely unhelpful error message, doesn't provide an error log of any sort, and fails to switch to IPv4 when there is an problem.
Disabling IPv6 support in Windows worked for me, but may cause unwanted side effects because Windows relies on it (says Microsoft). It's better to make Windows prefer IPv4, but leave IPv6 in place.
So I fixed it with a tool called "Prefer IPv4 over IPv6" (Microsoft Fix it 50410), available at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2533454 . After running it and rebooting, LR did work.
If you try the fix but need to go back to the Windows default configuration for whatever reason, just run the tool "Prefer IPv6 over IPv4" from the same page.

I am unable to sign in to Lightroom Mobile. I am unable to sign in to connect with the server. I get the message "Lightroom has experienced an unexpected Sign In failure. Please try again later. (attempt to index a nil value.)

I am able to sign in to Lightroom Mobile on my iPad but not on my iMac through Lightroom.

I have a subscription on Adobe cc and I am trying to instaal it on a second pc. Lightroom ok, but failure 47 on Photoshop. I also get the message that I downloaded a trial version, but as I said I am already a customer. What to do?

You should be able to install CC on a second computer, licensing rules allow you to install on two computers.

While trying to link LR and LR mobile, I'm consistently (several trys over a few hours) getting a message: "Lightroom has experienced an unexpected Sign-in failure. Please try again later. (attempt to index a nil value).
I've verified the Adobe ID and password -- what else should I try?

Reinstalling Lightroom after harddisk failure and new harddisk

Hi I have faced a harddisk crash and got a new 1 terabyte harddisk.
Now I am installing the programs again but when I put the disk into the slot it does accept it.
What can I do?

Windows Live - Sign in Failure E66

Hi,
i cannot sign into WL messenger through my e66. iif i'm signing in through gprs t gives an error message:
Sign in Failure:
check your access points or network settings
Signing in through WLAN:

your phone is in offline mode or you do not have a data connection
i can easily browse the web but cannot use this software!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Has the deployment of a second CC for education package caused my Sign In Failure across all machines?

hi All, tried posting this in the live chat the past two days with support but cant seem to send response to their questions (tried two browsers, but send message button still grayed out). Just want to check on the community of anyone else had this sign in failure across machines after deploying a second package under the education device licensing? Even after uninstalling one package I still cannot sign into any adobe products, full or trial versions now. Its seems all shut down.
Advice would be greatly appreciated please, thanks.

Adobe device license is tied to a deployment pool hence errors may occur during image installation. This could be due to Adobe application manager which is missing on user's machine and Adobe creative cloud desktop wasn't included while creating a package through CCP. Lightroom CC installation failure

I installed Lightroom CC via the Adobe CC installer after being directed there via LR5.7. When I tried running it, LR CC's splash screen appeared briefly then disappeared. It doesn't show up in OS X Yosemite's Activity Monitor as being a current process. I rebooted my late-2012 iMac and that didn't help so I uninstalled then reinstalled LR CC to no avail.

I have the same problem.
Couple times I tried all method
- sign out & sign in
- move com.adobe.Lightroom6.plist it to Desktop then sign out & sign in
- I also removed all Adobe apps from my mac & clean up all folders in ~/library from all adobe files.
Every times I "Launch Ligthroom CC 2015 application , by double clicking on Lightroom cc 2015 option under Apps list in Creative Cloud application"
But it didn't work.
Please help me

Verizon Call Assistant (VCA v2.7.79) Sign-In Failure - DAILY! err!

My computer is on 24/7. No viruses, no spyware.
Every single day when I get on my computer in the morning the Verizon Call Assistant has at least 1-5 popup windows telling me "Sign-In Failed, Please try again."
The computer is running, no suspend mode, no screen saver, drives run continuous. (the power company loves me)
WHY is this software doing this!!?
I'm pretty good with computers and have no problems with other software.   Internet working fine, no disconnects or anything.
1) I've uninstalled and reinstalled the VCA
2) I've signed in online to the web-based VCA with no problems.
3) I've clicked OK on the error windows and it then signs me right in.
Is there software disconnecting me from the VCA server after a period of time of no computer use?   I can use the computer all day long and it never gives me the error.   Its after the computer sits for many hours, or overnight with no human interaction.    Again, no screen saver or "power savers".   The only thing I do is blank the monitor after 4 hours.

Yes, the constant failures of VCA have been a problem ever since I started using the program almost 2 years  ago. I have to turn it off at night and restart again the next day. Running Windows7. I think the program needs another upgrade, but VCA seems to be supported somewhere in California and the local (MA) people know nothing about it. It is nice when it works, but it is buggy.

Sign-in failure

When I go through the sign-in procedure, I am given a Failure window; saying that an error occurred and your changes were not saved.

If you are trying to sign into photoshop.com, that's because it's in the process of going away, to be replaced by adobe revel. You should have gotten an email about this from adobe.
As far as using PSE, just go to the program files or program files (x86) for 64 systems, in windows, or the applications folder on a mac, find the actual .exe/application file for the editor and/or organizer, and make a desktop shortcut/dock icon, then launch PSE that way in the future.

Lightroom disk install failure

I'm trying to install my Lightroom 2 disk on a third computer. It's the replacement computer for an old one that "died." The installation fails - encounters an error that causes failure. How do I tell it that my first installation is no longer in existence? (assuming that this is the problem - the disk looks fine and has worked in the past. And I know, I need a newer version.....)I'm on Mac 10.7.3. I already have installed Lightroom 1 on this computer. Must I upgrade to Lightroom 4 now? I was hoping to stay cheap right now.

Installers don't care for activations. One has nothing to do with the other. Since you didn't provide the exact error, we cannot advise beyond that, but it may simply be an compatibilty issue with newer versions of OSX.
