Lightroom Slideshows and iTunes Music on Mac?

How do I use an iTunes Playlist on my Mac as audio for a Lightroom Slideshow?  I have the latest Lightroom and iTunes versions.

See the above discussion. I believe (but to be honest, I am no expert. I am trying to figure out a different, but related question) that you can reformat your iPod to the FAT32 system on your PC, then go back to your Mac, use it as a hard drive, and transfer your songs to your PC that way. Once in the FAT32 format both PCs and Macs will read the iPod disk.

  • How can I transfer music and iTunes from my mac to my iPhone?

I have a macbook air and need to transfer some of my music and itunes from my mac to my newly updates iphone4. Previously I used to drag what I wanted from my itunes to my phone but now it doesn't work. Any ideas?

First step, of course, is to plug your iPhone into your Macbooks Air. Then, you need to set up syncing how you want it in iTunes (on the MBA). If you want to be able to drag and drop music, select "manually manage music" on the Summary pane in iTunes.

    Sync with iTunes.
Connect the iPhone to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPhone name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on all of the albums or playlists that you want to sync - or the entire library if you like.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

After APTV and itunes upgrade on mac to latest on 02/15, streaming from itunes to Apple TV is very slow. even 5 mins song takes 10-15 mins to start. Netflix/Youtube work fine on Apple TV. restarted Mac, router, modem, appletv. reset Appletv to factory setting and re-start.

Apple TV 2 does not appear in iTunes (exception being when connected via micro-usb for restore) as it has no sync capabilities.

I need to change the default directory for the files iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml permanently.

Using TweakUI to Move or Create Your Library/My Music Location
Use TweakUI (See: ’Disk is locked’ or ‘iTunes folder cannot be found’ when installing or opening iTunes ) to create a 'My Music' folder in a spot where you desire. iTunes should then find this location and deposit its Library files there, and the 'iTunes' folder and sub-folders as well (if you direct it to).
First, see this Article for some background information: What are the iTunes Library files?
If you cannot see the ‘My Music’ folder within the TweakUI drop-down selection, proceed on to the following:
1 On the start menu go to ‘Run’
    2 Type in RegEdit
3 Navigate in RegEdit to HKEYCURRENTUSER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
4 Delete any entry for ‘My Music’
5 Navigate up the tree to HKEYCURRENTUSER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
6 Make sure there is an entry for ‘My Music’ and is pointing to C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\My Music (you can edit the value by double clicking it)
    7 Close RegEdit
    8 Reboot
iTunes &/or TweakUI should now be able to find the folder.

  • HT3847 Using 'Grand Perspective' to see my files, I have both iTunes media and iTunes music files.  It seems I have 'organised' my media, but should or need there still be both types of files?  I am running out of HD space and thought, maybe, 'merging' .

I'm trying to free up disk space.  When I look at my files using 'Grand Perspective' (Like 'Disk Inventory X'), I see songs in both iTunes music and iTunes media files.  I'm wonder if there is some kind of duplication between them.  Could I find HD space by doing something with these files?  I've already 'organised' them using the iTunes library feature.  But I note that it seems that organizing could leave the old (?) files in their 'original place'.  That sounds to me like duplication.
I'm not at all a 'techie' so don't know where to go from here.

You are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it.

  • Transferring iTunes music from Mac to PC?

My mom and I gave my sister a new iPod nano to my sister for a gift. The iPod will not mount on her iMac G3 (10.3.9) where all of her music is but it will mount on her PC running Windows XP. Both computers have firewire. Is it possible to hook them together via firewire and simply transfer her Mac iTunes library to her PC iTunes library? Will the PC just show up as a drive on her Mac if she hooks the computers up via firewire?
Also, she has some music she wants in her System 9 iTunes library. Where is the iTunes library for System 9 located on the HD? Can she just drag her System 9 iTunes music from from whatever folder they are in to the iTunes library on her PC?

Thank you for the information about the location of the iTunes System 9 library and about needing MacDrive for a firewire transfer but I doubt if my sister would want to fork over the money for it. Also, she doesn't have any other iPod other than the new one we gave her which won't mount on her Mac. My sisters Mac and PC are networked as they are both hooked up via router to the internet but both she and I are clueless about how to get the PC to show up on her Mac.
My sister has music in both her iTunes System 10.3.9 library and her iTunes System 9 Library. She mentioned that it was a PITA to convert the complete iTunes over from System 9 to Panther. However, I am hoping that the just the music in the System 9 iTunes library doesn't have any kind of funky file formatting and just the music alone could be just be copied to her PC iTunes library.
My sister doesn't have her music backed up so I expect that she will have to go ahead and do that and use the CDs to get her music over to her PC. I was just hoping that there might be a faster way to do the transfer so she can enjoy her new iPod sooner.

  • HT1391 Do I need to keep both the Itunes Media and Itunes Music folder in order for Itunes to work?  It has eaten my hard drive up.

I have Itunes Music and Itunes Media folders that have almost the same gigs in them, the media is larger. Do I need both of these?  I am left with 12 gigs of 500 gig hard drive and it is because of all the music I have.  Can I get rid of one of these?  And, if so how?  I do not want to screw up my Itunes because I love it.  Thanks!

  • Sync contacts on PC and movies / music from mac?

    Hello all,
Looking to jump on the iphone bandwagon when the 3g version drops. But I have a question important to my usage.
Right now I use a PC for all of my business-related stuff, so all my contacts are stored in outlook. But for music / movies, etc I use a mac.
Is it possible to sync my contacts with outlook on my pc, then sync my music / movies from my mac? Sort of a dual-sync setup.
    Thanks!

    Yes, this is possible.
An iPhone is not formated for one operating system or the other.
iTunes content, and photos transferred to an iPhone can be synced with or transferred from a single computer only.
The sync process for contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks is a true sync process - bidirectional, and can be synced with multiple computers - with the supported applications between two Macs, two PCs running Windows, or between a Mac and a Windows PC.
The iPhone includes sync preferences with each computer, but best to disable automatic syncing to change or confirm your sync settings with iTunes on each computer before syncing. You can disable transferring iTunes content, and the same for photos, and enable syncing contact information, and calendar events only via your iPhone sync preferences with your Windows PC. Enable transferring iTunes content and photos from your Mac, and you can sync your contact information and calendar events with your Mac also.

  • Easy for them that know, how do i  move pics and/or music to mac from pc

Yeah i am a switcher as of yesterday, i am trying not to break anything on my expensive Mac, I have succesfully moved all my email folders etc. by simply putting the relevant files on a memory card and dragging them to the Mail icon on the "dock"
So now i have progressed onto Photos and Music files, i am putting all of these onto my memory card, the only thing i am not sure of, forgive me for being a bit wary, where do i drag the photos and/or music to ?
It might be the iTunes icon, not too sure, as i cant believe that just by dragging the files to the iTunes icon, whether they be music files or photo files, iTunes will sort them all out for me without the program even being open.
I was very pleased that Mail in fact DID do this perfectly OK when i dragged a load of MBOX folders onto the Mail icon.
I suppose i just need confirmation as i am sure that is what i have to do, i know how important iTunes is to the Mac enviroment that i darent open it LOL.

  • Front Row slideshows and purchased music

When i create a slideshow in Iphoto and add music to it from a purchased song/protected song it plays the slideshow in Iphoto with the music. However if I then try to play the slideshow from Front Row it will play the slideshow but without the music. If I substitute the song with a non purchased song it plays fine from front row. Is there a problem playing slideshows from Front Row using a Purchased Song as the background music?

I had the exact same problem before but I fixed my problem through iphoto and it worked on my front row photo gallery; all you have to do is open iphoto, click the play button (at the bottom left corner), you will find a slideshow window, select the music tab at the top, choose sample music or itunes (your music library) or garageband, choose a track and click *_save settings_* to make the background music work in front row. Please try my experience and good luck.
    Cheers.

  • Slideshows and Itunes

I have a number of slideshows that I have made, all of which I included ITunes music. Recently I tried to make a new slideshow, but when I went to add my music the window that popped up looked different. The box now lists "Library" and all of the other Itunes folders, but won't let you click on them and view the song options that are in each folder. When I type in the song I want in the search box, it will say "1 Item" next to the box, but when I click PLAY it just plays the first song that is listed in my ITunes library. I looked this issue up in the IPhoto help box and it suggested having ITunes open at the same time but this didnt work either. Didn't know if anyone would have any suggestions...or even understand what I am talking about.
    Thanks!
