Lightroom standalone vs CC

If I buy Lightroom standalone now and later decide to subscribe to CC, will this be a seamless transition in Lightroom?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by seamless. But the Lightroom program is virtually the same. It's just a difference in licensing. You would uninstall the standalone version, and then install Lightroom through the creative cloud manager (whatever it is called). That installation from the CC would simply open the same catalog and you would proceed normally. However, if you purchase Lightroom 5 and then when you join the CC program Lightroom 6 has been released, after you install Lightroom would have to create a new copy of your catalog that conformed to the new format. My experience has always been that that conversion has been seamless as well. Just be aware that regardless of how long you have had Lightroom 5 you will immediately start paying the monthly fee when you join CC.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the replies.
I tried the page http://www.adobe.com/in/products/photoshop-lightroom.html, and clicked Lightroom Standalone Buy Now, but its taking me to the page where it says Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 - Student and Teacher Edition, which is getting me confused, if its for Student/Teacher's only or for General public.
    Thanks for suggestions!!!

  • Lightroom standalone version turns out to be an update???

I just purchased Lightroom (standalone version) but when installing he asks me for the serial number of a previous version wich I don't have. How can I fix this?

That request indicates that you purchased an upgrade version, not an update.  Upgrades are sold at a lower price but require you to own an older version that is eligible for the upgrade.  If you never owned an earlier version then you will need to purchase the full version.

  • Lightroom Standalone Student Edition?

    Hello All,
I am considering purchasing Lightroom 5 Standalone, however I cannot find where to buy the student edition.
I am in Australia so it is not possible to buy it off Amazon.
Also, where did Adobe Live Chat go?
I would have asked this question there if I could find it.
    Thanks in advance,
    xeni

Looks like it is available in the Adobe Australia Store: Products

I have Lightroom 5.5 already installed on my desktop computer (Mac Pro) and I was wondering if I could download a the same standalone copy of Lightroom on to my mac laptop without having to purchase a second copy.
    Thank you

Yes. You're permitted to install Lightroom on up to two computers at the same time.
Download from Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.6
Install then enter your serial number when prompted.

  • Lightroom standalone: how to buy it (italian language)?

I tried the trial version of Lightroom and now I'd like to buy it. I don't need Creative Cloud and I want to buy the standalone version.
At the link http://www.adobe.com/it/products/photoshop-lightroom.html  is mentioned the standalone version (applicazione autonoma - licenza perpetua) but when I click on it on the new page at the link http://www.adobe.com/it/cart.html?marketSegment=COM&# ,  near "Description" is written "Updating" = aggiornamento and the price is 73.2€. Now, the question is: how can I buy the updating if I haven't the software??? And how to buy the italian standalone version? Thank you for answer

  • I have bought Lightroom standalone version 5 recently. After the release of Lightroom 6, I would like to upgrade to the latest version. How can I do?

When I try to upgrade to the latest version from 5.7 the price shows as 50% of the full price. Is this the way to proceed, I meant the price is too high for the upgrade. Any solution to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

$79 is the standard upgrade price. If that isn't suitable then you will have to stick with your present version.

  • Have CC account, Lightroom standalone, says I'm in trial

I tried logging out and back in. Only the Desktop app says I'm in trial. The mobile app doesn't say that.
    Thoughts?

Your account is not automatically entitled to use the LR mobile as a subscriber. In the near future  there will be an option for Photoshop Single App subscribers to switch.  Right now, as a PS Single App customers you need to contact customer service in order to switch.
Let me know if that works for you.
    Thanks,

  • I have a trial version of Lightroom, and I want to buy it as a stand alone product.

    I'm i Norway, btw.
When I follow the link to where I can download LIghtroom Bilderedigeringsapp | Last ned gratis prøveversjon av Adobe Lightroom 5
and follow the next link to Lightroom standalone purchase, all the way down on that page, I come to a broken link.
How do I do this when all I want is to pay and get to work.
I've tried to call that number, but it's in English, and I'm a little helpless, the menu is to fast for me.
If anyone can help I would be most grateful!

    Thanks so much!
I found that the link is valid when I change my prefered country (eg. from Norway to GB.), but then when I want to pay it wount reconize me, I'm in the "wrong place".
This is the place I'm sent to when I klick the link http://www.adobe.com/no/cfusion/store/handlers/elicensing/trialconversion.cfm?productId=16 0&platform=Mac/Win&locale=en_us&marketSegment=com&skuType=UPGRADEhttp://
    The error is 404.

  • Lightroom asking for previous serial number only used trial before

I downloaded Lightroom (standalone) from my trial version and now it's asking for a serial number for a previous version of lightroom. I've only ever had trial versions. What should I do ?

You cannot purchase an upgrade version to upgrade the trial version. The first time you purchase Lightroom you have to pay the full price, whatever that might be from the vendor you choose. The trial version is the full version of Lightroom. So you will have to get a refund and then purchase Lightroom, paying the full price.

  • Purchased lightroom 5 before purchasing CC, technically I can install up to 4 lightrooms. How can I install lightroom without signing in to CC?

Purchased lightroom 5 before I got myself a CC subscription.
I have maxed out on the installation on 2 computers with the CC account. Now I wish to activate my original lightroom standalone license.
But apparently I need to sign in to CC to install lightroom, which creates a conflict with my existing 2 computers. How can I install the standalone license?
    Thanks all.

Download Light room, during activation choose the option to use the serial number.
It should work, if it says that activation count is over, then you can try by deactivating CC , then install the standalone, then you can activate back the CC.

  • Want to purchase LR for mobile. already have CS6

Having mucho difficulty purchasing LR mobile. Already own CS6 & LR 5.5. Wont let me access 30 day free as I mistakenly clicked drop down 5 weeks ago - before I had mobile device...?! IT challenged; pretty much need to be walked through this. Virtually impossible to get live Adobe tech support.

You cannot buy Lightroom Mobile separately. And it is not available with Lightroom standalone.
To get Lightroom Mobile you must subscribe to Lightroom: either Photoshop+Lightroom or full Cloud membership.
Lightroom Mobile (and syncing to the full version of Lightroom) is included for free with a Lightroom subscription.

  • Will Installing LTR5 from CC  be compatible with full version LTR 5.7 on desktop ? will it over write any settings i have and what purpose will this serve?

will Installing LTR5 from CC  be compatible with full version LTR 5.7 on desktop ? I bought the standalone LTR5  couple years ago .So  will CC LTR5 overwrite any settings i have in This application ?And simply merge with what I have on desktop without too much trouble ? I have over 10,000 photos in Libraryin LTR5.7   Do  I Leave LTR5 IN CC alone even tho I am  paying for the Photgraphy package at 9.99?. whats the difference between the Lightrooms ? Thanks on clarifying !

There is only one version of the Lightroom program. The Lightroom standalone version, the student version, and the CC version are all the same program. The only difference is in how they are licensed. The standalone version that you are using is activated with a serial number. The CC installation is activated with your Adobe ID and Adobe password. I would suggest that you uninstall your standalone version. Then you will be able to install Lightroom from the creative cloud application manager. The application manager will keep track of updates for you as they are released. And when Lightroom 6 is released you will get it automatically, no additional charge, as part of your creative cloud subscription.
Uninstalling your current Lightroom will uninstall the program, but will leave the catalog and all user files as well as all of your images on the computer. Once you have installed Lightroom from the creative cloud manager you will be able to simply double-click on the desktop icon (which will look just like the old one) and start right where you left off. Everything will be intact, business as usual. I know this because I went through the process I have described when I joined the creative cloud. It happened just as I have described. There were no problems in switching.

  • Goint To Creative Cloud for LR and PS.

I currently have LR v5.7.1(purchased LR 5 disc) and PS CS5 Extended v12.0.4 (purchased disc) and don't want to pay the enormous upgrade price for PS to keep up with the latest version of ACR, so I was thinking about transitioning to Creative Cloud. If I do so, would I uninstall LR (backing up everything of course) and PS? Are there any precautions I need to take?
    Thanks for all responses.

You can leave your Photoshop CS5 installed. It won't interfere with Photoshop CC. You will have to decide if you want to uninstall the Lightroom you are using and reinstall from the creative cloud manager. I did that when I joined the creative cloud. I don't know if the Lightroom you have installed will automatically see Photoshop CC, but you can configure it as your secondary editor. I uninstalled Lightroom standalone and installed from the creative cloud manager. It is the same program, just licensed differently. After the reinstall I just double-clicked on the desktop icon and was right back into the same catalog, same images, same everything. And Lightroom sees Photoshop CC as my primary external editor. It's up to you whether you take the time to uninstall/reinstall Lightroom. There probably isn't really one right answer.

  • Purchasing the cloud $ 25.59 plan (single app)

Hi, I'm interested in purchasing the cloud $ 25.59 plan (single app) however in the description it says "Limited access to services". What does it mean? Which are the limited features? Thanks!

Lightroom standalone full license is AUD$205 (AUD$110 upgrade) to purchase outright.
Don't think it would be worth including as a standalone subscription app. At $20/month, a year's subscription would cost more than buying it outright.
I suspect it's more of a value added inclusion in the Cloud rather than a standalone subscription offering
