Lightroom starts every time i put in a memory card or a USB stick with photos. Is it possible to turn off this feature? I want to determine if the program should start.

Go to:
Edit >> Preferences>> General (tab)
Lightroom >> Preferences>> General (tab) on Mac OSX
Uncheck the box: Show import dialog when memory card detected.

Every time I put in a camera card iPhoto starts. Is there a way to prevent this short of deleting iPhoto from the applications?

In the iphoto Preferences disable "connecting Camera opens" - set it to "No application".
If that does not suffice, do the same in Image Capture:
In Image Capture - with your camera card inserted- click the disclosure triangle in the lower left corner of the window to reveal the menu to set the preferences for the device:
Then set the option to "Connectiong this ... opens" to "No application"

I just got an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to use it on the t mobile network. The thing is, I've tried restoring the phone so I could use it. I haven't tried my sim on other phones yet. But I will try to see if it works. The iPhone is supposedly factory unlocked btw. Anyways, when I put in my tmobile sim, it searches for the service, but it always ends up saying NO SERVICE. I checked that my network says that the "phone not allowed". So I don't have 3G on this phone I presume. I heard that you need 3G to have service is that correct? But how do I resolve it? The iPhone does know that my phone carrier is tmobile. It just says no service. And I've tried restoring it three times and turning it off and on and it won't work. I don't have a data plan for tmobile tw! Hopefully someone can help! Thank you so much in advance!

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. Your phone is carrier locked to another carrier. The only way to use your phone is to get the original carrier to unlock it, if you qualify. Not all carriers offer unlocking, and those that do almost always have requirements included being a current or former customer in good standing.

Please help! Lightroom shuts down and re-starts EVERY time I export a file

I've used Lightroom for 2 years and it only started happening TODAY! I need to edit my pictures in photoshop, but I can't get them from Lightroom because every time I hit the export button it starts the process and then my computer shuts down and then re-starts after a few seconds. Why? How can I fix it. I'm a wedding photographer and need these pictures edited! Any help is appreciated.

Check in the same folder/directory as your active .lrcat: there should be no xxxx.lock file when LR is quit; there should be one opened when LR is launched. Other than also deleting your Prefs file, perhaps the OS and version of LR would help.

LR starts every time USB drive inserted

Every time I insert a USB key, LR starts.
In Preferences, File Management, I have selected 'Do Nothing' for 'When a memory card is detected. If I let LR start, it does not try to import any images but it is annoying how it insists on starting every time.
Any ideas? A bug?
I use XP Pro, and I can replicate the problem on both a laptop and desktop.

Been there. Done that. Didn't work. I finally (with the box unchecked), I nuked it out of the registry by putting several bogus characters in the command line for that item. Very naughty of Adobe, making me go into registry for this.

Same here on a brand new 13" Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) running Mountain Lion. DVDs play fine using VLC media player but not the default player that comes with Mountain Lion. Will visit my Apple store next week.

Yep, as Michael mentioned, iTunes is accessing the internet matching the total bytes of the CD to the data base. Happens to me when I burn a disk in Roxio Toast 7, then mount it to listen to the recording in iTunes. Some of the strangest names appear.
At first I couldn't imagine where these exotic names were coming from until I realized the app. was accessing the Gracenote CDDB (CD database). Unfortunately, you cannot deselect this process within iTunes. As Michael suggested disconnect your machine from the Internet before inserting the CD.

Restart your phone,hold the home button and the off button down till the apple symbol comes up. If that doesnt fix it , you need to do a restore in itunes by connecting to itunes , click on your phones name to the left, then click restore in the center of the screen and restore from backup.

to contact iTunes store support, follow these steps:
1. Go to expresslane.apple.com
2. select 'itunes' and then 'itunes store'
3. select a topic and a subject
4. click 'continue' and then 'email'
5. fill out the form and explain your situation
6. they will respond within 24 hours usually
