Lightroom to PhotoShelter?

I'm currently evaluating a digital asset management app to organize and manage my digital image library.
Three apps are currently under review for the task:
1) PhotoMechanic
2) Apple's Aperture
3) Adobe's Lightroom
Two out of three of these asset management apps allow for direct upload to a PhotoShelter archival account.
LR is the only one that doesn't cater to the professional photog on this level.
Any plans to offer this plug?

I'd say there's a fair chance - LR is the most recently-released and it probably requires the SDK to be released before a plug in would be really smooth. But why not ask Photoshelter?
Also look into what you can do with the export actions folder - you can include shortcuts/aliases to other programs. So you may be able to rig one up yourself.

  • Lightroom 3 Slowing Waaay Down?

    Howdy!
I am an Apple Aperture user and thinking about switching to Lightroom.  I downloaded the trail version and have 15 days left before I have to decide weather to buy it or not.  So far all was going really great and I was convinced I needed it, until this evening when I started editing more images from a recent photoshoot.  For some reason Lightroom has slowed waaaay down.  I haven't installed anything new on my Mac, everything was working great previously so I am not sure what to even try and troubleshoot.  My images are from a Canon 40D (or XTi) each about 10gig and all are RAW.
So far I have only imported 2116 images and if I convert my currrent Aperture library, it as 40k images I would want to move over.  Of the images I have imported I have only 235 in this current folder, about 60 of those I have edited on.  Some I have done some pretty extensive editing clearing up skin using a combination of the skin smoother and heal tools.  A few have some artistic work on them and only a couple have I sent to an external editor to do manipulation.  I have added one plugin to Lightroom LRB timelapse, and would like to add more for my Photoshelter account and more editing options.
My MacBook is running Lion, 10.7.1, has dual core 2.4 processors, 4 gigs of Ram and a 500 terribyte 7200rpm drive.  I use an external 22 inch Acer monitor.
What should I try to recover the performance of Lightroom 3?

    David
Can you just confirm something? You say each image is 10Gig do you mean 10Mb? You asls say you have a 500 Terrabite Hard Drive? Surely you mean 500Gb??
Check disk free disk space, you may find things are slowing because you are running out of virtual RAM (which is basically hard disk space)
I would not consider copying over all your photos again into LR. I too have Aperture and moved over to LR about 18 months ago. As a Manchester Photographer I simply find the support in the photography industry superior and most professional photographers have opted for Lightroom, although I do use Aperture on occasion for certain projects.
Lightrooms catalogues you images and leaves the originals in their orignal location
    Regards
    Darren

  • Is there anyway to upload photos to PhotoShelter direct from LR?

Like how LR allows to upload photos direct to Flickr, FB and SmugMug, is there anyway to upload photos to PhotoShelter?
    thanks

    It appears so!
I don't use it but it is available on Adobe Exchange here: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?searchfield=photoshelter&search_exchange=2 5&search_category=-1&search_license=&search_rating=&search_platform=0&search_pubdate=&num= 25&startnum=1&event=search&sticky=true&sort=0&rnav_dummy_tmpfield=&Submit=
which means it has been tested.

  • Runtime error in starting Lightroom

I receive the following message when I try to start Lightroom:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program:...Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 1.2\lightroom.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Lightroom ran well for several days and then failed to open with the above message.
I have tried everything I know to do (uninstalled and reinstalled the application, restored the computer to a restore point before Lightroom was originally installed, etc.) and do not know were to go from here. Suggestions would be appreciated.
I am using Windows XP sp2 and have 4 GB of ram and 250 GB of hard disk space.
    Thanks,
    Cliff Culp

  • Lightroom imports photos to wrong folder

I've been importing lots of photos from my hard drive into lightroom and been moving/renaming them in the process. I only got lightroom a few weeks ago.
This has worked fine but i've recently imported a few hundred photos off my iphone and doing the same thing - move and rename. The trouble is, these photos keep going into the 2009 folder, instead of the 2012 or 2013 folders that they should be. When i look at the photos, they have the correct name, and the capture date seems to be correct, its just lightroom keeps wanting to put them in the wrong folder by year. Does anyone understand why this might be happening?
naturally I want all my photos sorted into the right date folders as this is the way ive decided to organise my photos...

hmm so still not making sense. it keeps wanting to import my photos into the wrong destination. have removed all the photo from lightroom. how do i change it so it automatically puts the photos into the corresponding year/month they were taken..
I understand its something in the import settings/destination but cant seem to change this. not sure what parts of the import box your wanting to see Dj.
the structure now is my pictures/2009/21-7-09 then its creating new year folders and sorting them within this 21-7-9 folder..
    can't see to change this?

I am trying to import developed images from LightRoom 5 Photoshop 6 for further editing.  I am receiving this message and the images will not open.....'Could not open scratch file because the file is locked, or you do not have necessary access permissions or another program is using the file.  Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file. • When I try to open my Lightroom 5 program it comes up with this message, "Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit."  How do I fix this?

Can someone please let me know how I can fix this error and open my Lightroom?  Thanks.

You might be quicker help posting in the LR forum rather than the ACR forum, but I believe the way to fix this is to delete the preview cache.
    Find your catalog folder.
    Close LR.
Within the catalog folder, delete the FOLDER called Catalog-Name Previews.lrdata
    Start LR.

Nope. Be a great feature. For that I use FotoMagico after exporting JPEG's from LR.

  • Is there a way to contact Lightroom help by phone? I have a complicated issue with missing files.

When I downloaded my photos into Lightroom today I used today's date on the folder, but got the year wrong, 2013. After I completed editing my entire photo session, and tried to export some of the images, I realized I had the date wrong on the folder.  I used my Mac's "Finder" to locate the file and change the name to 2014, with the rest of the folder name.  I see now that this was a mistake and I should have probably changed the file name IN lightroom instead.  Now I cannot export because I am getting the message about the files being offline or missing.  I have tried to correct this by changing the folder name back to the original incorrect name (year), but this did not solve it.  I clicked on the question marks and tried to "find" the folder, but that did not work either. It would be nice to be able to save my work in editing, rather than to have to start over again.  In addition, Lightroom now shows several extra folders with the same folder names have been created that I didn't plan or create, purposely at least : )  Now I am really confused as to how to fix this...

You should be able to use
    "Find Missing Folder" ok......
How about putting a screen shot of your Library and matching HD like these:
