Lightroom unable to find photo - Loses pic and leaves ".swp" and ".tmp" on disk

Working Win 7 Professional (64bit), Lightroom 4
I am finding that while reviewing / rating my pics lightroom will often lose a pic (pics located within a folder on the desktop - move them to a nas drive later as faster to work from hard drive than accross the newtork when importing and exporting and creating previews etc). I will have a pic on my screen and then use the numeric keypad to rate the pic or the arrow keys to progress to the next pic and then out of the blue lightroom announces that the pic is missing. I look at the hard disk and find that there is now a .swp and .tmp file left in the directory where the pic was. eg below
I can then either rename the tmp file back to a jpg and all is OK but I have just started dragging another copy of the image from the card again. This is not just a lightroom 4 issue I used to have it in Lightroom 3. Its got to the stage where I am now keeping a copy of all images while I do my initial shortlist just incase I lose something which frustrates me somewhat. Anyone got any ideas?

The only accessory I know of that can be used to transfer photos from a camera or SD card to the iPad, is the Apple Camera Connection Kit. The kit consists of two adapters. One has an SD card socket. The other has a USB connector to connect directly to the camera.
I do not think you can transfer photos from the iPhone to the iPad unless you first transfer them to a computer. If you then transfer the photos to an SD card, they must have eight character names plus suffix and be stored in a DCIM folder, just as if they came from a camera.
One thing you can try is to reboot the iPad. Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes. Rebootting will not hurt anything and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

PDF files missing and leaving AA and AAA files???

I'm working from a Mac OSX 10.5.8 and using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
I have pdfs on a server that are reviewed by people with Acrobat Reader and every now and then when someone saves changes, the pdf will go missing leaving a file like "aaa01744" or "aab04284" in its place which opens in Terminal when clicked on.
What's the error here, and is there anyway to open the "aa" type of files?

What type of phone do you have? The most common reason why pic messages don't download is a lack of a data connection or in most cases the phone has the battery saver feature in the on position. Try turning that off in the settings

If you've installed it, the installer is no longer there - it self destructs after the install. You will have to downlod it again; when the download is finished, stop the installer and go to the Applications folder. You will find the installer there - save it to a safe place.

PDF files not saving/missing and leaving "aa12345" and "aaa12345" files??? - Solution

risscand: The PDF's are used one at a time. The individual who combines the reports that the workers probably does not have complete access to the network.
Mudassir: To re-write the PDF which is saved on network, the users need to have complete access. If not, they will get the save as option and they can save that PDF file on their local drive

AS 10G emctl is died and leaves orphan and hung to emagent

We start infrastructure and middle tier in the following way for each instance:
opmnctl startall
emctl startifdown iasconsole
After a few minutes or hours the emctl died leaving the emagent hung up, impossible to kill them and the service http://host:1810 are not available, the only way is boot the system.
AS 10g 9.0.4 / Solaris Sparc 8 64bits.

Problem with Java keystore and certificates (unable to find valid cert path

Our program is made so that when a certificate is not signed by a trusted Certification Authority, it will ask the user if he/her wishes to trust the certificate or not. If they decide to trust the certificate, it will accept the self signed certificate and import it into the keystore and then use that certificate to log the user in. This works fine. It will import the certificate into the keystore and use the specified ip address to establish a connection with the LDAP server (Active Directory in our case) and authenticate properly. However, the problem arises when we then try and connect to a different ip address (without restarting tomcat, if we restart tomcat, it works fine...). It imports the certificate into the keystore fine, but always gives the exception
"Root exception is javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target"
and does not authenticate with our LDAP server (which is Active Directory). The problem seems to be that it is no longer looking at the System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", myTrustStore);
I have tried multiple times to just reset this property and try and "force" it to read from my specified trust file when this error happens. I have also imported the certificates directly into the <java_home>/jre/lib/security/cacerts and <java_home>/jre/lib/security/jssecacerts directories as the java documentation says that it will look at those directories first to see if it can find a trusted certificate. However, this does not work either. The only way that I can get this to work is by restarting tomcat all together.
If both of the certificates are already in the keystore before tomcat is started up, everything will work perfect. Again, the only problem is after first connecting to an IP address using TLS and importing the certificate, and then trying to connect to another IP address with a different certificate and import it into the keystore.
One of the interesting features of this is that after the second IP address has failed, I can change the IP address back to the first one that authenticated successfully and authenticate successfully again (ie
I use ip 1.1.1.1, import self signed certificate, authenticates successfully
login with ip 2.2.2.2 import self signed certificate, FAILS
login again with 1.1.1.1 (doesn't import certificate because it is already in keystore) successfully authenticates
Also, I am using java 1.5.0_03.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I've been trying to figure this out for over a week now.

HELP! "unable to find driver for this platform: 'ACPI'."

I was updating my Macbook Pro's software today the standard way and when/after it was installing the latest Mac OS X, my laptop shut off and now it won't boot up. A screen comes on that says "you need to restart your computer..." (which i did, but this message keeps popping up). on the same screen, it says stuff like panic: unable to find driver for this platform, debugger called, and displays all these numbers and letters. i don't know what is wrong or how to fix it. did my computer crash when installing the updated software/platform? PLEASE HELP!

If I may put in just one work of caution. Mac OS X: About the Archive and Install feature explains the procedure for the installation option. However, although you can choose to save your settings and preferences, and although all third party apps in the Applications folder are saved, as well as your Users Folder, the article starts out by suggesting that you backup. That is because if anything goes wrong, as you already know it can, you can likely lose all your data, or if it can be rescued, not without cost and a lot of time.
If you don't have a reliable, up-to-date backup I suggest that you use SuperDuper to clone the entire HDD to an external HDD. You can do that by using Firewire Target Disk Mode and connecting an external HDD to the host computer.

How do I find photos without a keyword tag?
And by the way a further question regarding keyword tags remains unanswered...Why is there a difference between the number next to the keyword and the actual index number in the keyword folder?

I will try and explain in more detail to ensure we don't talk past each other.
I'm in "Catalog" and "All Photographs" is highlighted.
I selected to show the "Index Number" under "Library View Options".
In "Keyword List" I have main keywords such as Europe, Africa and Asia with no number to the right of it.
If I open the Europe keyword I have a list of countries each of them with a number next to them.
Next to Spain there is now showing the number 46.
I open "Spain" by clicking on the arrow to the right of the number.
Now all the photos with the Spain tag is shown but there are only 23 photo. Under Portugal there is 80 shown but only 40 photos is shown. Under Ireland the keyword only 11 is shown but once open there are 1132 photos.
There is not one keyword with the correct number next to it.
As a fairly new LR user it just appears to me that the two function don't "speak" or "correlate" with each other.

Unable to find the Messages in the Message Tab in ExtnDef

I am using the WSDL file which is given from Client/Customer. After importing this into Extn Defn, i can see there is no messages in the Message Tab and No messages in the External Definitions.
My current version of PI is 7.0 where i don't find the option for tools->importExterDefn. and when i am importing this in SOAP UI tool i can see all the messages.
Please let me know is there steps missing

Forest trust unable to find Active Directory Domain Controller

I have two domains with a two-way forest trust. We'll call them ForestA and ForestB. They're on seperate subnets. ForestA's DCs are in one physical location. ForestB's DCs are in two locations, one of which is shared with A.
I'm unable to route traffic directly from the remote DC in ForestB to the subnet ForestA is on, so I created a new DC in ForestA that sits on the subnet ForestB uses (basically, I can't route between subnets via the wireless bridge between locations, but
can within the same location).

I followed the instructions to set the new DC in forest A to be the only one the remote DC in forest B was aware of.
Nslookup ForestA.com resolves correctly to this DC, but I'm unable to validate the trust relationship, getting the error:
"Windows cannot find an Active Directory Domain Controller for the ForestA.com domain. Verify that an AD DC is available and then try again."
I'd appreciate any help.

In the event viewer, have you found any event id's that corrospond with this error? Have you ensured all ports required are open? Windows firewall is correctly setup? NIC is properly configured?

Unable to find an available port

Hi Folks, trying to call a ws using wsif. I can look at the wsdl and the factory serves up a non-null services instance but when I call service.getPort() I fail with the error "Unable to find an available port". The chosenPort and preferredPort attributes are null and the myPortsArr is empty. So I must be missing some setting. Here is the code snippet ... Any thoughts?

I imported all my pics..again..and cant find photos to add as attatchments

so as stated i imported all my pics onto my HD, so my 1600 something is now 3200 and at 2 gig of pics i'd like to get rid of all these doubles without loosing the first generation of pics..also as above, i installed ilife08 onto my macbook and now i am unable to just go to my iphotot to attatch any pics after my upgrade..i can do it but have to go and copy pics to my desktop and then refigure out what i did last time to attatch to the email...kind of frustrating so any help is much appreciated

Two separate issues:
i imported all my pics onto my HD, so my 1600 something is now 3200
Were these in an earlier version of iPhoto? The correct way to to this is to copy the IPHOTO LIBRARY FOLDER from the Pictures Folder on the Old machine and put it in the same location on the new one. Then start iPhoto. It will do the rest. There is no IMPORTING involved. What you've done by importing is bring the Pics plus their thumbnails into iPhoto as new pics. So, if you still have that old library intact, trash the new one and start over. If you haven't then check out Duplicate Annihilator
Second issue:
What do you use for email?
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
*If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use* THIS
*Also, for 10.5 users: If you use the extended Open or Attach dialogue (with Column View) you can scroll to the bottom of the Shortcuts and find the Media browser there. Select any pic you want from there.*
