Lightroom Update gone bad

Yesterday I upgraded to LR 5.4, and ever since I"m getting the message that says Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem the next time it launches. I found a similar question in this forum, and the answer was to delete the previews files -- which I have done, but I am still getting the same error message.   Rebooting hasn't helped either.   HELP!  I'm pretty much dead in the water until I get this fixed,.

I found the folders called Lightroom 5 Catalog Previews.lrdata and Lightroom 2 Catalog Previews.lrdata inside of my lightroom folder (which was inside of my pictures folder)  and deleted them and all of their contents.  (It scared me to remove so much info, so first I copied them onto a separate external drive just in case.)    Could there be another folder that I'm missing?

  • IOS 8.1 Update Gone Bad

Hi all. I have an iPhone 4S and I have returned from France. As soon as I got back my phone wanted to update so I just done it without thinking. I've never had a problem till now. Right so the phone seems to have rebooted in DFU and I have a whole load of pictures from France I need of the unit. When I plug my phone into iTunes I get two options. 1 Recover iPhone or 2 Update. If I update will it keep my phone as it was?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

Some security software prevents your iPhone 5 from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your iPhone 5. Thus, please read: Resolve issues between iTunes and security software
If nothing is wrong with security software, you can try some recovery tool, like Dr.Fone for iOS to get your iPhone 5 back to normal. Install the tool on your computer and connect your iPhone 5 to computer. If Dr.fone detects that your iPhone 5 is in abnormal mode, click the Restart the device  button on the window of Dr.Fone. Then, your iPhone 5 will be back to normal.
Besides Dr.Fone can scan all data on your iPhone 5 and save them to your computer. or,after your iPhone 5 becomes normal, you can also use iTunes or iCloud to backup data .

  • Software update gone bad

I started uploading the iso6 or whatever that is. Before it was done I had to leave the house so the update just stopped when I got out of my home wifi network. Whatever I do the "apple" logo just stays on in th emiddle of the screen. When I got back hom I tried plugging it into the computer and launching itunes, but Itunes did not recognize the device. I have tried rebooting it several times which takes the "apple" logog away for a few second then it comes back on. Even if I hold the sleep button to turn it off, nothing happens. I am at a total loss. Obviously I should have let the iso6 version 6 update finalize before leaving the house, but if anyone has any input to help me it would be appreciated.

    Dr. Nugs:
Have you tried downloading the standalone update and installing?
    Cheers

  • UPDATE GONE BAD! I ran the new update and my phone only has a picture of a USB and the I Tunes Music note? I plug it in and it says I must restore to the original setting losing everything? Is there hope?

Can anyone help me get my phone working and  retain my data? I Ran the latest I Tunes update (6.0)and my phone (3GS) froze on the USB Itunes screen and my computer I Tunes says I must restore to factory settings losing all data?

Yes I had the same problem with my iPhone 4. What I did was connected my phone to my computer. itunes popes up and said that they have discovered a iphone in recovery mode. it asked if i wanted to update and restore. I clicked yes and it download the ios6 update on iTunes on my computer and then did the update on my phone through that. I got the same message and I thought that I would lose everything too, but I did not.

every time i pressed power button.. two beeps.. pause.. three beeps.
took out batt / restared .. no screen.. HD spins / fan spins / power light is on.. but machine
    seems dead.
Anyone have any ideas whats going on?  how to fix?  was it the bios update?  can it be rolled back?
    Thanks in advance

Were you trying to use http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-74858 ???
If so, we bricked several machines at the beginning of April and asked Lenovo to remove the update.  I see that hasn't been done.  Maybe now they will.

  • Bios update gone bad

I have a T60 and I just tried to update the BIOS using the following utility from Lenovo:
    Version:                  7IET33WW (1.14)
    Release Date:        2008/04/25
    File link                   7iuj12us.exe
    File size                  2,781,304
File description     ThinkPad BIOS update utility
After the utility completed the update, I followed the instructions to restart and verify the version.  After hitting F1, I am presented with a lock icon which has a screen beside it, which I believe to be a prompt for a power on password.  Not knowing what it is since I never had one set up, I try my windows password and that of my wife's which we use on the computer (set up when we set up the fingerprint log -in).  Nothing works.  I can hit enter and access the BIOS setup, but no changes can be made in "user mode" (I never set up a Supervisor password either).
I did read/try the solution which Mark_Lenovo (Admin) posted in other threads regarding removing the battery and backup battery, but it did not work.  What is funny is that the power on password is only requested when trying to access the BIOS, I can log on and use the computer normally with the fingerprint reader.  I just can not access the BIOS.
I am hoping others who had similar problems might have had better guidance on how to proceed.  My initial call to Lenovo proved to be less than comforting stating that even the POP can not be reset and can only be fixed by MB replacement at my cost.
Thanks in advance for any help.
System is a T60, type 8743, WinXP, T7200, 2Gb, current BIOS after update 1.14 (7IET33WW) dated 2008-04-16, Embedded Controller Ver 1.07, old BIOS version unknown, system build Dec 2007.

  • Has my M1424WR router "gone bad"? - and its replacement "bad" out of the box?

I've had Verizon FiOS service for about 3 years now, and have had very few problems with it.  A few times I lost internet or TV during storms when lines came down somewhere, but that's about it.
The FiOS installer gave me an Actiontec M1424WR router and access port, with a coax connection to the outside box.  I have a multi-room DVR setup (2 DVRs that can "see" each other, and a third read-only STB), so as I understand it I have to use the Actiontec (good bye to my old Linksys router used with my high speed cable service).
I have 4 computers attached directly to the router and up to 8-10 wireless devices (cell phones, tablets, wireless printer, gaming devices, streaming media players, etc.) on my home network.  As such, I reset the router's SSID to the same one I had before, with 128-bit WEP security (a 16 char hex key).  I also am "advanced" enough to know how to go through the advanced settings and start the DHCP address allocation to start at 192.168.1.100 to allow several of my devices (network storage drive, wireless printer, gaming systems, etc.) to maintain locally static IP addresses like 192.168.1.3 through 192.168.1.9 that reconnect when the router is reset or rebooted.
All this worked beautifully for about 3 years, until last week.  The wireless network started dropping out - not just external internet access, but seeing other hosts in the home network - requiring a router reset to come back (or just a disable/re-enable of wireless service via the router settings at http://192.168.1.1).  However, the "Wireless" light on the router remains green.
Even the wired internet connection (the computer hooked up with an Ethernet cable, right next to the router) would lose its internet connection for 5-10 seconds at a time before resuming.  The multi-room DVR functionality would get spotty, too - until a reset, boxes couldn't see each other, playing back data from another box would be very slow or not come up at all.
After 4 goes of it with Verizon support via chat and phone (the experience of which I won't go into), which included a remote reset of my external access box by Verizon, I concluded that the router must have gone bad.
Last night, I went in person to a Verizon service station near me to swap the router, got back what they said was a "brand new" M1424WR, and installed it...  To get the same problem, actually worse.  The wireless drops out in about 5 minutes, the light is still green but no wireless hosts can ping each other or anything on the wider internet (like using Speedtest).  I can use my wired internet fine (no hiccups there, yet) but my multi-room DVR is not 100%, two boxes can see the other two but one of the DVRs can only see itself.
It seems unlikely but I have to believe this is still a problem with the router box itself, and I just got yet another flaky one back, right?  Nothing in my home network has changed (no new devices, services added, firmware updates, etc.) from last Tuesday when it was fine.
Any other ideas for me to try?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, I traced it to a "radio problem" with a client device.  It was a "Belkin F5D7330 802.11g Wireless Ethernet/Gaming Adapter" I was using to connect a network printer that has only an ethernet port to my wireless network (so I wouldn't have to run CAT5 cable to where the printer is situated).
To do this I had to remove/disable ALL my wireless devices and computers, then add them back in one by one...  It was frustrating because I'd forgotten that printer was actually connected wirelessly, I was used to thinking of it as connected via an ethernet cable since I "knew" that's what the printer supported.  I even unplugged my 2.4 GHz wireless phone base, which I actually believed to be the culprit.  I only remembered the printer's wireless adapter after everything else was removed.
But once I unplugged the Belkin's power, boom, my wireless network was back to normal!  And plugging it back in caused the problem again.  So it's bye-bye Belkin.

  • Lightroom updates 4.1 & 4.2

I have tried to download Lightroom updates 4.1 & 4.2 onto my Mac computer but the downloads never show up in my Lightroom program.

I just tried searching this forum, but only found one reference (OP was deejjjaaaa, re. noise banding). If anyone could find more official info, I'd appreciate it.
I have lots of photos taken with a Lumix GF2. I always assumed the lack of lens profiles was a result of unpopularity. I even found a couple of 3rd party profiles with the profile downloader to reinforce this assumption. So now, I learn that correction *might* already be built in, but there is no official documentation I am aware of.
How do I know which cameras are auto-corrected—is there a list? What is corrected—is it just distortion, or is vignette fixed too? And which lenses?
Edit: I have since found this http://forums.adobe.com/thread/785884 using Google. Still not found any lists, but Eric does say " Lightroom 2.4 and later automatically apply geometric distortion and lateral CA lens compensations for all Panasonic models with the .RW2 raw format (since LX3, fall of 2008)." And by Lr 2.4, I assume Cr 5.4 is implied.
Edit 2: After limited testing, it seems that there's subtle differences between the built-in and 3rd party profile distortion correction, some good some bad, which I suppose is to be expected with the supplied wide angle lens. One observation which probably added to my original confusion is that there seems to be no built-in vignette correction. I am now trying out my photos with Lens profile corrections enabled, but with 0% distortion correction and 100% vignette correction. So far so good.

Can Apple replace my macbook pro (mid 2012) retina's battery if I think that the battery health has gone bad/in need of and renewal???
I've had my Macbook for about 11 months now and i use it every day; its gone though about 420 cycles of charging and using the power, and i noticed the battrey preformance has decreased (as expected). The problem isn't sevear yet but it would comfort me knowing that i could replace the battery in the near future
Please contact me or answer the question if you know anything about this!

No only if they think under warranty/AppleCare, but your likely able to pay for a new battery if they have them, which they might not yet since it's such a new machine still.
BTW, I have a Early 2011 17" MBP, 27 months old, charges to 97% and has only 14 cycles.

I've edited an image on Lightroom and gone back and edited again.  Is there anyway to get back to that original edit of the image?

In the History Panel (on the left) of the Develop Module, click on any previous edit to see what the photo looked like at that step.
If you are going to regularly want to see two versions of edits on a single photo, consider using either virtual copies or snapshots.

  • Does lightroom update photos in bridge

does lightroom update photos that are shown in bridge?

    Hi,
as i said, this photo is displayed in PA20, after ulpoading from Frontend via Portal Appl,  so everything till now is in order. this a WDA issue, because the class CL_HRTMC_BASIC_UTILITIES use that method that is checking if the photo is buffred or not, if the photo is buffred, it will get the last URL from the cluster table (INDX), if not, after geting it using ArchivL FM, will get a new URL, in tis case it will be buffred in the cluster table with the new URL and with the timstamp (Timestamp is a future time (one Houre or one day, it depends) this is from SAP). and in the next time , if the user uploded a photo and after starting newly the Appl and clicking on the same person number, automaticlly this methode will be generated, and deliver a specialy Timstamp which will be copmpared with the timestamp buffred with the person number and  the URL of the photo. if its less , the new photo will be displayed, if not the old photo will be displayed.
    this is WDA issue
